hey lili, quick question... do you think these folks at the DMV actually know how much I need to pay for this ticket? Like, specifically regarding that "notice number" thing they listed on the citation?
I'm probably gonna end up paying a fine to one of those local code enforcement officers🙂 so I was just wondering how things actually work over at their "headquarters"... like, do actual people even look at these payments? Is it just some automated system crunching numbers, checking if the confirmation number matches the receipt, or does someone actually verify the dollar amount too? And what kind of logic do they use to pick which cases get escalated to small claims court when someone misses a payment...
Hey everyone. I was hoping someone could help me out with a quick question.
I need to settle up using one of those standard paper payment slips—you know, the kind where you fill in the sender, the recipient, account number, and all that stuff... basically the ones where you tear off the right side after you're done.
The money is going toward the City of Chicago municipal budget.
What I'm wondering is, how does the city actually verify if I paid too little or maybe even overpaid? Do they actually sit there and double-check the specific amounts, or do they just look at the account number and check if the cash hit the system by the deadline?
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched Fight Club. But honestly? As I get older, it just doesn't hit the same way anymore. To be fair, I still think Palahniuk’s book is way better than the movie itself... I haven't seen Button watched nearly as often as Fight Club, but it might actually be my favorite. Call me a softie, but whatever... I never really got the whole hype surrounding Se7en as this "ultimate" masterpiece. It’s not bad by any means, but it doesn't blow me away more than something like The gama or Panic Room, you know?
I'd have to vote for Zodiac. In my book, it’s the most well-crafted film out of the bunch. I don't love it quite as much as Benjamin or Fight Club—those two are just such cool concepts—but Zodiac is just a damn good piece of filmmaking. It actually makes sense, I guess. 🙂
So, I was reading about this President over in Uruguay—man, talk about living life on the edge. He drives a tiny little economy car, just hands his whole paycheck over to the state, gave up all those fancy security details and perks, and actually lives in a studio apartment. Like, seriously. As for family assets? His wife just has a small greenhouse full of flowers. Nothing crazy. Then you look at his Vice President, and it’s a total 180. That guy is out here driving luxury SUVs and owning a bunch of massive estates...
Wait, what was that about being "stuck in a ladies' restroom"??? I mean, I guess that’s probably better than being "trapped in a sauna," right? Anyway, I'm just scrolling on my phone here, and I really don't want to end up stuck in a women's bathroom... man, ever since my internet went down, I've had to vent about this stuff to all the girls on these forums way too often.
...there’s this one number, like, a bus route number, and it's twooo, twooo, twooooo all the way out to the outskirts... 👍
...so I'm just sitting here, actually I was standing up first, over on the corner of Broadway and 5th, people were just rushing past me while I stood there with my suitcases... 👍
Maybe give some castor oil a shot. Just go ask someone about how it works for what you're dealing with... I think there's walnut oil out there too, so yeah, worth looking into that one as well.
Like, maybe find an energizing shampoo? Something with caffeine or whatever added in.
The scalp needs time to react, you know? It doesn't happen overnight.
I mean, obviously, there’s nothing healthy about wearing something that’s basically just jammed against your chest. It honestly baffles me how people can just live in this stuff 24/7. Like, seriously, give it a rest—everything down there needs to breathe...
I can't even tell you how much it messed with my head just sitting there in the waiting room. It’s been, what, two decades now? Feels like forever, but I still remember constantly playing out this scenario in my mind... just wondering how that first needle hit my neck was actually gonna feel. 🙂
I went to see a doctor about that when I was around six or seven... can't really remember the specifics, honestly. But look, the pain eventually fades. I don't even think it felt like actual pain, more like just this dull, heavy sensation. it's probably already gone by now 🙂
Is it actually true that nurses should be aiming for those higher nursing degrees—like an Associate's or even a Bachelor's later on—because once we’re fully integrated into the standard American healthcare system, anyone coming in with just a high school diploma might get stuck doing basic caregiver work instead? The idea is that if you want to actually do the nursing job as we know it today, that role might belong strictly to people with those higher degrees... you know, that step up from high school in the medical field.
Check out Craigslist, maybe scan through those back pages... or just call up a spot that seems halfway similar and, you know, be a decent human being about it. Just ask if they can point you toward their Go Go colleagues...
So, I’ve been dealing with this weird liver thing for quite a while now. Basically, my face starts turning yellow whenever certain liver enzymes start acting up. It’s all because of bilirubin—just a byproduct of how my liver processes stuff. It usually hits me when I’m pushing myself way too hard physically, especially if I haven’t been getting much sleep for a few days. Or, you know, when a bunch of different stressors hit at once.
Look, it’s not life-threatening or anything, but I’ve heard plenty of stories—and some friends have actually gone through it—where people end up in the ER because their bilirubin levels spiked way past what’s considered normal. When that happens, the yellowing gets really intense.
The military actually takes this kind of stuff seriously, too. Like, if you’re going through recruitment after high school, something like this could get you a full medical waiver, or maybe just get you out of guard duty if it's a milder case. Or, if it’s light enough, you can basically just live your whole life with it without much fuss...
For me, it’s somewhere in the middle. Sleep is a huge trigger... specifically for me. Since I don't drink, use drugs, or smoke, I can't really tell you how those things would mess with it. Though, I am pretty sensitive to alcohol. I feel it almost immediately, which is classic, but then I sober up just as fast. I’ve realized I have a super fast metabolism; honestly, I don't think I could ever put on any real weight if I tried.
This liver issue isn't some massive, scary deal. It’s something similar to Gilbert’s Syndrome. Apparently, there are ways to manage it with specific foods... you can find tons of info about it online. Everyone experiences it differently, from the people I've known. Some people end up in the hospital, some are just constantly exhausted, and some don't even realize they have it unless they get blood work done... me? I’m definitely the one who’s always tired. 🙂
It’s basically the same old story we saw back in 1800, 1200, 500, or even 0 BC... except nowadays, there's just way more smartphones getting in the way.
