It’s sitting there on my hard drive, but it just won't load for the life of me 🙂 ...
Now it sounds a bit like Cave... hmm... have you actually checked out any other Willard Grant albums??
To be honest, Fisher's voice is super similar to Caveov, but in my humble opinion, that's pretty much the only thing they have in common

I'm obsessed—honestly, this might be their best one yet. 🙏 👍

Personally, I'm still leaning towards the first one, but hey, it's a solid record regardless. 👍

Chiche, YYY and GuitarWolf aren't even that similar. And honestly, it just comes down to taste—if you dig them more, that's your call. To me, all those Japanese garage bands (GuitarWolf, Teengenerat, etc.) are just... garage bands. Period. And frankly, I don't really care if YYY gets forgotten anytime soon; their album is solid enough as it is..
And Thin White Rop is totally forgotten by everyone, saint or sinner, but they’re still incredible. (By the way, if some kind soul out there has anything of theirs in digital format—and I don't mean Moonhead or in The Spanish Cavo / red Sun—please, for the love of god, hit me up. I'm down to trade something for it. You wouldn't believe how impossible it is to find their stuff on SLSK).

Anyway, Monica from FV sent me a lineup, and it says Nina Pound Hammer (the original lineup, too!) is playing at our favorite club on September 5th. Is that actually true??

Like I said before—and like you already pointed out yourself—you guys are just exhausting. Seriously. It’s pathetic.

I don't know what to tell you—it's just redom.

TzU said:Just your typical, frozen-solid, elitist, "I’m too cool for this" contrarian pumpkin.

So, what’s this I hear about everything always being against me? Seriously, what are we even basing that claim on? Give me something real here—please.

TzU said:It’s like saying "American Americana"—it’s a total oxymoron.

So, look—Americana is a genre, plain and simple. Anyone around here who actually listens to metal knows how this works. You’ve got rock, you’ve got pop, you’ve got punk... then you’ve got Americana. Get it? So, if some band pops up over in Romania playing that style, they're just a Romanian Americana band. If they were playing right here in the States, they'd be an American Americana band. It's not that deep, you know?
Look, if there are bands out there labeled as "English Americana" or "Norwegian Americana" in the music mags—and they totally are—then I don't see why we can't just call them an "American Americana band." Unless, of course, you’ve got some super specific, personal definition of what an oxymoron is.

TzU said:Drop some names of the best American bands that don't have a single lyric written in English. Wait, scratch that—I meant bands that don't write any lyrics in English at all. Just give me the best ones out there.
Look, for those of you who are a little slow on the uptake—and I mean that in the nicest way possible—I need to clear something up. This isn't about me faking some deep sense of patriotism or whatever. It’s just a simple fact: a song is made up of both the music and the lyrics. It's not one or the other.

Man, I’m telling you—you listen to bands like Lunar or Pecah Pit and there isn't a single lyric to be found. That’s why they’ve gotta be German bands. Then you’ve got Spooner and Messerschmitt singing in English... which means they aren't local acts at all. They're probably American. Or maybe British. Or even Aussie. Honestly, who knows where they're from? God only knows. And that track "Dobro" by Pip? Man, that song definitely landed here straight from Mars.
Or maybe it’s all just fake patriotism—you know, people putting on an act just to look good.

TzU said:It feels like half the people around here are constantly whining about not being born in Texas—as if they’d actually be happier there just so they could sit around listening to some country music in peace.

Haha, yeah, I’m definitely one of those people too. Based on everything you’ve posted here, you’ve pretty much psychoanalyzed my entire emotional state—just gone ahead and dug through every dark corner of my personality. Just so you know, though... I’m suffering. Real bad.

I can't even begin to deal with this...
Forget Lucinda Williams and all those other "authentic" country singers.

Look, if you don't actually know your stuff, maybe just stay out of it? It’s better that way—otherwise, you just end up looking like a total joke. It’s perfectly fine if you aren't a fan of Lucinda Williams, seriously. But what you wrote here? It totally screams that you were just trying to be edgy about something you don't even understand. You clearly read a little bit about it, got worked up, and now you're acting out—but honestly, it just came off as pretty damn stupid.

TzU said:Seriously, screw you guys

Who the hell is "US"??

TzU said:George W. Bush

First off, what does he even have to do with this argument?? And second, you're being disrespectful. Go screw yourself, alright?

TzU said:I wouldn't trade Jack the Ripper for 150 Johnny Cash or any of those guys in black

If there was an emoji for a shrug, this would be the perfect place for it. But hey, don't bother. Who cares.
And just so you know, Vanis isn't your Ripper anymore. Pip fans—you know how it is—they don't even use that word anymore.

Man, it's easy to see why people are talking...🙂

They actually work for me. They're high-energy—kind of a mix of Spencer and Sonic Youth—and Karen is absolutely wild. After spending way too much time listening to those super "mellow" bands lately, I really needed this dose of pure chaos in my ears.

Haustor, Mother (first two albums), and The Stooges
Lunar and Peach Pit are pretty solid too
Spoons and Messerschmitt (pretty sure that's how you spell it) are also in the mix

that's it

Pips are just a soulless, boring band with an irritating singer who clearly struggles to hit a single note—and honestly, Pips fans are easily the most annoying group of people on the planet
Ryan Ruiz said:So, a couple days ago, my high school started playing music during breaks.
The first day wasn't even that bad—a few Red Hot Chili Peppers tracks, Pink, Jennifer L (already getting sick of her). Then during the long lunch break they played some Gibonni—wait, I can't change that, then Oliver... but whatever, it was all just... ugh, fine, I shouldn't complain, but then they played two Muslim songs... and I straight up lost my mind!!!! Some techno-ish thing with some Arabic howling in the background. It felt like I was standing in a mosque or something!!!
Total disaster!
And I’m just sitting there thinking... a high school senior is playing this stuff? Is that really what a high schooler is? Are these the future leaders of our country? Playing Muslim nonsense in a prestigious school?!!! Absolute disaster.
What kind of stuff do they play at your schools (for those still in high school), if they even play anything at all?

And honestly, the biggest mistake you can make is saying "good morning" to any of those goth kids! 🙂

Go jump off a bridge, moron 👎

😁 😁 😁 ....this sounds all too familiar.....what kind of criticism is even this?

hehe, Zlatko Gall's "critiques" are always the same old story—if my memory serves me right, he used the exact same tired motive once with the replacements and again with Cabaret Voltaire.

Just another polished little entry for this old-timer music critic's dusty book of anthems.

🙏

😁 ...those guys shredding on their Fenders in that high-energy set really proved they’re the secret sauce of the local music scene. Between the flashy riffs, the drinks, and all that rock energy, they showed the younger crowd that they aren't just some one-hit wonders who peaked too early and faded into obscurity...

Anyone else here into Cowboy Junkies?
Best 80s albums list? in Music ·
I’ve already said my piece about these lists in general—basically, there's no point getting worked up over them since they're just someone's personal whim (which is why I was fine with that disclaimer before the all-time top 100 in Nomad recently).

But hey, I might as well throw in a few more comments.

Any "Best of the 80s" list that doesn't include an album by The Cramps isn't even worth looking at. And honestly, The Gories could've easily made the cut too (just look at The White Stripes—that whole new garage scene in Detroit).
The same goes for Femme; I'm glad to see them on there.

As for desert rock, say what you want, but Thin White Rope absolutely blows Green on Red and Puppets, and even those "untouchable" Giant Sand out of the water. IMHO Exploring the Axis is better, more interesting, and way more "desert" than any album from those other bands.

And yeah, that comment about Tom Waits—about how he could have been the greatest poet, but chose to be a hero instead... whatever.
