Soylent Green! 😉

Never actually sat down to watch it, but man, the Quotes are gold. 😁

So, what, we just shouldn't show up?

There’s a show here in Chicago on April 8th, and I think I’ll go just for the nostalgia—to see how they sound these days. 😁 😁 😁 🙄

So... why aren't you in New York?! Seriously, what is wrong with you? 😳
If we didn't run into each other in NYC for New Year's 😢 , maybe we'll catch up in Chicago... somewhere... this fall? 😉

By the way, the listening party wasn't bad at all (who's actually afraid of 16-year-olds anymore? 😁).

Of course, the highlight of the night was the relatively new d. A. F. maxi single "der sherif" (Ivan, you legend) and a total nostalgia trip with "def con one" from Pop Will Eat Itself. (Ivan, you absolute master!). Man, that track really got my blood pumping. 😁

The only downside is Tom Hanks. I just can't see it working.
Gandolfini would have been a much better pick.
Otherwise, it's a solid movie for a Sunday night. Though it would be a lot easier if some 8-foot giant wasn't sitting right in front of me...😁

aaah: "rabies". nothing... just a sigh. looks like we still have some nostalgics hanging around here... 🙂

Kevin Chavez3 said:Grind/death! 👍

Then some old school thrash (Anthrax, Metallica, Testament...) and maybe Iron Maiden as a "guilty pleasure".

looks like someone actually beat Cody for the title of having the widest musical range on this forum... 😉

vividwalker7 said:Currently listening to the "Star Wars Theme." It’s beautiful. Honestly, it hits so hard I feel like walking outside and punching someone just to vent the energy😁.

Just make sure you aren't standing near me when my ringtone goes off—I composed it myself! 😁 )

vividwalker7 said:So, I'm curious. To all you esteemed film experts out there: in your highly sophisticated opinions, which movie features the best, most impactful, most perfectly fitting (whatever term you prefer😁 ) music?

I'm hardly an expert... I can't speak to the absolute "best," but one of the most "fitting" soundtracks I've ever heard was for "The Hideaway"...

Johnny said:Look, if you’re heading to the theater with your girlfriend, you aren't exactly going to pick something that requires a PhD to follow. You want something easy, something entertaining. It's a different story when you're looking for something for yourself—something to actually sink your teeth into. When you're watching alone, there isn't this unspoken rule that it has to be "fun." It can be avant-garde. It can be weird. It just has to be real.
At one point, I think what I was quoting from you was pure gold. 👎 .

Of course.
In both those cases, the only thing that "other factor" actually achieved was a total waste of everyone's time.
I think I’ve watched one too many "avant-garde" films lately. Whether it was with this "little" one or anyone else... or maybe it's just me? 😉They were actually fun. Simple, too. They carried these clever little messages that felt ten times more profound than the mindless, boring "wisdom" that usually clutters up modern intimacy. Not that any of that matters—it’s not like those things are a requirement for me to enjoy a movie or anything.
Even calling it a "clash" is an overstatement. There isn't even a clash to speak of. It’s just pure, bizarre nonsense. Honestly, the only reason I sat through it was because I caught a clip of one of my favorite bands on a VHS tape during a road trip. That was my sole, "unexciting" motivation. 🙂 Maybe that’s just it—maybe *Lost Highway* is one of those movies meant for a completely different mood. One you aren't in right now?

Regarding that quote—you really didn't need to be that harsh. You see? 😉 ? 🙂

Robert Cooper41 said:I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first: a theater director, plus the first "real" actress to perform a blowjob on screen...

Exactly: "as." 😉

If I hadn't been sitting in the back row, and if I didn't have to practically stand up an entire row of people just so my tiny self could slip out of the theater, I would’ve walked out after fifteen minutes.
A wasted Saturday.

analogmaker7 said:Sex as a tool to patch up the emotional voids of incapable 21st-century individuals. People who lack the capacity to feel a single genuine emotion. A depiction of modern society's intimacy.

A depiction of intimacy without—if you don't tear apart those pseudo-profound, rambling sentences and refrain from laughing at how much taxi drivers can actually penetrate the secrets of the human spirit—you'll realize what these ultra-boring freaks are aimlessly droning on about for nearly two hours.

I don't get it. After it was "discovered" that you can show raw fellatio, thick semen, and penetration across the whole screen in "prestige films," everyone went crazy trying to lure audiences in with these cheap tropes, even though everything between the two sexual encounters isn't even half as important.
And then the lustful sycophants sit there and hand these geniuses prestigious awards.
After the "clash," I promised myself I wouldn't watch anything that doesn't earn over $50 million on its opening day. But, damn it, I couldn't help myself... 😉

TeenSpirit said:No, no, 🙄 [let’s not connect 😁]

😉

Fine, I won't.
Just for the record, our Freddie once threw a party where every single big shot from the music industry was on the guest list. At the door, they were greeted by performers who offered a very specific, very "personal" kind of welcome—oral sex, tailored to every guest's preference. 😁

Man, what a legend that Freddie was... 🙂
Sure, the guy had a voice like almost nobody else. That much is true.

DJ Khaled said:No, but they were actually the best. They deserve to be heard again instead of just listening to Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and all those other wealthy icons who only get airtime because they're hot and willing to show some skin. 😠

feralgardener502 said:I’d honestly die of pure embarrassment if I ever heard my own "compositions" being used as nothing more than background noise to fill the damn silence in an elevator.

Get it now?
Music by someone with ACTUAL talent doesn't get played in elevators, during lottery drawings, or during the evening news segments on major networks...

For heaven's sake: that overhyped Mozart Requiem was playing on loop for months, just like the nightly news on ABC or CBS. 🙂

Just out of curiosity:
What do you think about those bands from, say, those big commercial ads that were running a year or two ago? If I recall correctly, they seem to fit "your" genre. Or are commercials somehow at a higher level than elevators and junk like that?

Anyway, since you're bringing up my rambling, feel free to quote it. It would make it much easier for me to debunk you without all the extra effort.

I won't quote your entire life story here, because heaven forbid anyone actually has to read a full screen of text...
your whole rambling argument basically boils down to those "logical" analogies of yours...
What does it have to do with the fact that certain music played in some clubs or elevators, or how that supposedly messes with your psyche?

You don't exactly come across as an expert if your entire line of reasoning rests on that...
If you’d just put a few emojis next to your "arguments," I might assume you were just joking around, but here you are acting like your heated criticism is actually meaningful...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not being difficult. It's just that from your posts, it seems like you'd actually be offended if someone preferred synths over guitar riffs.

Look, I'm not a fan of this kind of music either, but you seem completely closed-minded.
And if we want to look at what critics have said about Vangelis, I believe his legendary "Chariots of Fire" was hailed as one of the most influential works of the 20th century... correct me if I'm wrong.
The man left a mark. And Britney Spears will too, eventually... but Vangelis, Jarre, or Oldfield are still far more serious (and educated) musicians.

And finally, not all electronic music is New Age... though if I keep going on about that, people might actually hang me for my "outrageous takes."😉
