p.s.: I dig your username. It reminds me of being a kid watching those old cartoons. 🙂

I hear you, but there is a huge difference between enjoying some solitude and what you're doing, which is just spreading yourself too thin. For instance, if you have two solid friends who actually get you, but then you decide to ditch them for twenty new acquaintances who are just boring, superficial, or plain uninteresting, that's a different story entirely. I get the feeling you might be missing the point here.☕I kind of agree with this sentiment.☕It makes sense to me.🤣😂
Donna Wood52 said:The whole point here—the actual purpose of this discussion—is learning how to expand your social circle without viewing everyone through such a narrow, black-and-white lens. 😉

Honestly, I don't know, just try to be chill. You really have to make an effort to actually engage with people, otherwise you're never going to grow your circle at all.🤷
I mean, at the end of the day, you've just got good people and bad people out there in the world, and honestly, I don't really see the point of this whole thread.😕
Rebecca Chavez85 said:Gary Perez9, which specific Viper are you even talking about?

It’s nothing but pure hypocrisy, and we all know exactly who I mean. On one hand, you have a true veteran—not just some bureaucrat's definition of one—who takes his own life only to be denied a proper funeral service by the church. Meanwhile, this absolute trash kills an entire family and is still served a mass?

I think you're spot on, because from everything I've heard, that guy was nothing more than a fake veteran on paper, while actual veterans are out here struggling through hell just to get by, yet everything seemed to just fall into his lap. And since we're touching on religious matters, they say Jesus Christ redeemed the sins of many, but I really don't think this guy is part of that group.
Rebecca Chavez85 said:[I fail to grasp why anyone would bury a killer alongside his victims; just because he was their father or husband doesn't mean they should permit such a perverse display. That fool ought to have been interred in an unmarked grave or cremated so his ashes could be scattered—or perhaps driven through the heart with a stake, just to be certain.]

I suspect the victim's family is simply paralyzed by shock and likely remains oblivious to the gravity of the situation, as I find it impossible to believe anyone in their right mind would ever consent to this. Or perhaps, more cynically, no one even bothered to ask them.
According to reports from the local news before the procession began, a man announced over the loudspeaker that "anyone wishing to offer comments or condolences should step away immediately." Apparently, in a small town in California, it is considered perfectly standard for both the executioner and his victims to share a final resting place.
Furthermore, there has been a deafening silence regarding the hypocrisy of the church. Is it truly moral to perform a mass for a murderer or to grant him a full funeral service according to religious rites???

I'm guessing the victim's family is just in total shock right now and probably hasn't even processed what's happening, because I really don't think anyone in their right mind would permit this under normal circumstances. Or, for all we know, nobody even gave them a choice.
According to reports from the local news before the funeral procession started, someone over the loudspeaker announced that "anyone wishing to make a statement or comment should step forward immediately." Apparently, in a small town in California, it’s perfectly standard for the perpetrator and the victims to share a burial plot.
And let's not even get started on the hypocrisy of the church. Is it even remotely moral to hold a mass for a murderer or give him a full religious send-off???

As for the church, I don't know, I guess they might just stick to the whole forgiveness angle and call it a day. But burying him in the same plot? That is just unbelievable, especially since he was considered such a respected member of the community.😲It seems like money is the only thing that matters here, which is pretty much always the case when real estate becomes an issue. Just imagine the scene where the family of the deceased wife shows up to leave flowers on the grave of the man who killed their daughter—it’s absolutely infuriating. You shouldn't even leave a trace that a guy like that ever existed.☕
velvetmaker3 said:The guy didn't want his family to have to live on after he died from that disease, and he definitely didn't want his kids growing up knowing their father succumbed to AIDS (assuming that was the illness). He viewed it as a disgrace and couldn't stomach them knowing about his shame. So, out of pure selfishness, he killed them instead.
Instead of finding peace in the idea that they might carry on, he was too self-absorbed to allow that to happen.
Because of that, he failed life's most critical test and ended up looking like an absolute fool, though I guess he wasn't aware of that at the time.
I honestly don't get why they buried the killer alongside his victims, especially since being a father or a husband doesn't give someone total dominion over their lives to justify such a perversion. That idiot should have been put in an unmarked grave or cremated, with his ashes scattered, or maybe just driven through the heart with a stake just to be safe.

That’s probably the best way to put it—it was nothing but sick selfishness and vanity. They really shouldn't be laid to rest together.☕
Rebecca Chavez85 said:I find myself scrolling through the comments on the local news sites out of California, reading what those Lawrence types have to say. Is it just me, or does everyone seem to be scrambling to find some pathetic excuse for a murderer? They bring up mental illness, PTSD, financial struggles—as if any of that makes it okay.
To put it bluntly, there is absolutely no justification for such human filth. Only a true monster could lay hands on children. May they burn in hell forever...

Finally, someone with some common sense☕It’s wild to me—when something like this happens in America, people label them as crazy, but when it happens back home, people try to spin it into something else entirely. They come up with all these justifications as if it changes anything at all.🙄Money issues? Please.🤣The guy lived in an expensive apartment and was building a house that definitely wasn't "modest," not to mention funding affairs and stuff like that. And PTSD? Give me a break.🤷😕The absolute dumbest part is hearing these explanations about how they saw war on TV and now have PTSD. Good grief, I actually lived through combat myself; it wasn't a massive deployment, but I was close enough to feel the ground shake and hear the shells landing about a mile away, yet that doesn't give me any right to kill anyone. This guy was just a lunatic and a piece of work, but the real problem is that people are trying to justify him, which really just shows how broken our society is.☕
Jerry Martinez5 said:I’m honestly curious to see how this whole thing unfolds once they start digging up the truth hidden behind that polished facade. 😢

Gary Perez9, nobody is actually making excuses for him. We're just trying to make sense of it all.

I mean, who even is this guy? Is he even a veteran? How does someone become a high-ranking inspector by the age of 23?
It makes me wonder if he had those jealous, possessive tendencies, too. It’s like people couldn't function without him—as if he were some kind of god walking among us.☕When that fake, idyllic image finally shattered, he just went out there and started fighting everyone, all while playing the part of a respected citizen.🤷
Man, you wouldn't believe some of the stuff this guy reads online; he acts like he’s completely blameless, blaming everything from historical wars to even horror movies for his issues. Honestly, the guy was just unhinged, so there isn't much point in arguing about it. People start throwing around PTSD as an excuse, but I mean, if that were the case, I could probably make the same claim, though it's not even clear if he ever actually served in the military.🤷
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Goebbels

Joseph Goebbels was Hitler's most loyal lieutenant, and while he went to his death shortly after the leader, the fact that they killed their own children makes his situation somewhat comparable here. Of course, everyone is absolutely horrified by what Goebbels did, but keep in mind he was hunkered down in a bunker while Soviet shells were raining down, so he had legitimate fears about what would happen to his kids if they fell into communist hands—and interestingly, he actually wanted them to live, but eventually gave in to his wife's wishes. This guy we're talking about is way worse than Goebbels, yet people are still trying to make excuses for him.😲
Jerry Martinez5 said:Only he knows the truth. Only he knew what kind of darkness was piling up inside him. I find it hard to buy the whole "hearing voices" thing—the idea that he was experiencing a severe psychotic break—because if that were actually the case, we probably would have seen signs much earlier. And I guess you can't just blame it on combat trauma either; plenty of veterans have been through hell without snapping like this.

If he were still alive, maybe experts could finally pin down a cause, though even then, I suspect they’d just end up arguing with different theories. As it stands, we’re all just left guessing.

I honestly can't wrap my head around what drives a person to take their own child's life. It's just incomprehensible. 😢

Exactly, it just seems like his military service story doesn't quite add up, making his entire background feel pretty questionable.
Lawrence Booth2 said:I honestly feel like PTSD gets pushed way too hard in the media lately

My hometown was under siege for three years, while I spent three years living as a refugee

And if you ask me, the people who actually stayed and fought were more mentally stable than those of us stuck in refugee camps😁

What I’m getting at is that everyone processes things differently... take that tragedy back in San Francisco... until just yesterday, we used to laugh off tragedies happening in the West, thinking something like that could never happen here... it's all about alienation—that feeling of being totally disconnected from society... driven by capitalism and the media machine

I totally agree with you there. My commanding officer in the military was a veteran who had survived a concentration camp, and he was genuinely one of the kindest, most reliable people I ever knew—he never raised his voice or anything like that. I also met some construction workers who were former camp survivors, and they were incredibly calm and composed, honestly much more level-headed than a lot of folks I've run into in cities like New York or Chicago.☕
Let's look at the kids first—they’re healthy, doing great, and everything seems totally fine on that front. Financially, things are actually pretty solid since there are two high incomes in the house, plus the parents have their Social Security checks coming in from years of working in the States. He’s well-respected in the community too; he stays active with sports and even does some officiating on the side. On paper, it looks like an absolute dream life, but clearly, things weren't clicking for him internally. As for why? Maybe it was the war, or maybe he was dealing with PTSD—I don't have all the specifics on where he was deployed or how long he was out there, but it just feels a bit off. And then there's the marriage; I honestly can't say if things were rocky at home or if there was someone else involved, who knows really?🤷Regarding his health, apparently he had been feeling under the weather lately, but I just can't wrap my head around why anyone would resort to such violence over being sick.😕🤷
What is the mad house? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Sarah Wilson95 said:What does "on the edge of politics" even mean? It’s not some high-brow academic debate like you’d find on the main Politics page—so what is it? Just a place for jokes, insults, mockery, trolling, or something else entirely?

All the longtime users here remember exactly why the Mad House was created, and they know exactly how it used to look back in the day.

The fact that they couldn't maintain order there—and that the moderators themselves were constantly dumping stuff into the Mad House because they didn't know how to handle it on the main page, or because it didn't fit their vibe, or simply because it got torn apart by trolls and flame wars (which, if I recall correctly, is actually a moderator's job to clean up...)—is that really enough reason to just scrap the name MAD HOUSE?

It isn't just about a name change, either. First comes the shift in moderation style, then this massive crackdown with all the banning and locking of threads, and now the rebranding; at this rate, they might as well just shut the whole thing down. Honestly, the Mad House was the very reason I was drawn to this forum, and now they're acting like this.☕
God, please, we need more venues! in Close to Politics ·
Since we had that crazy windstorm blowing through yesterday, I was thinking we should just build ourselves a massive windbreak. To be more specific, let's just pile some extra dirt onto the Rockies and the Sierra Nevadas until they hit about 10,000 feet. If we could pull that off, we wouldn't have to deal with these gusts ever again, the bridges would stay open, ferries would run on schedule, and folks down in Florida could just sit on their balconies sipping coffee and strolling along the boardwalk without a care in the world. Plus, the weather would stay perfect year-round, which would be a total game-changer for the tourism industry and would definitely keep the construction crews busy for a long, long time.☕

The sun hits my face and there I am, giggling. A breeze picks up and I'm laughing again. Even seeing a redhead walking by triggers a smile. It’s just this genuine, deep-seated amusement at every little thing. Sometimes it even turns into full-on hysterical laughter over something as simple as checking my watch. 🤷
Honestly, I don't care what anyone thinks. I'm happy. 😍

Well, if you're smoking the real deal, then that explains everything.☕

Honestly, I think it’s actually for the best that we finally moved on from Kruley and all those clones of his😁It would be quite the relief if we could get rid of Johnny too, just so he stops locking all our threads, and maybe even the moderator, then things might actually start looking up☕

Man, maybe just stop feeling sorry for yourself for a second.
Instead of constantly cycling between crying and laughing about it, just sit down and actually figure out what you want from life.
If you really can't pull yourself together, then go find a professional.
You aren't gonna find any real help on a random internet forum like this. >quoting Gary Perez9's post.
Everyone goes through rough patches sometimes, but I doubt you’re actually all alone in this.
But seriously, professional help is professional help. Don't be ashamed of it; just get your life together.

Man, what the hell are you even trying to say?😕🤷
