Rules? Moderator consistency and fairness? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I took a quick look at those first few links you sent over, and honestly, I realized they’re all from back in 2011 and 2012. I'm just not sure how you could possibly think those would be relevant right now, let alone serve as any kind of indicator for what went down just a couple of days ago. Posts that old aren't valid anymore; they can't really act as evidence for current events, and I really don't have the patience to click through dozens of ancient links hoping to stumble upon something that might actually be connected to this situation. Sometimes, less really is more. As for your question about why your off-topic post got nuked while someone else's stayed up—look, not every off-topic comment is treated the same way. Sometimes the moderators decide a post actually adds value to the thread and leave it alone, and other times they decide it's just pure noise and pull it. Other times, enough time passes that they just don't want to deal with the headache of retroactive moderation, or they simply miss a post or a report entirely. That's just how it goes. It's nothing more complicated than that in this massive, endless scroll of a thread.

Hey, can someone drop the links here? Please!

Thanks, rustydrifter10! 👍 I am alive! Again! 👋

Edit: Seriously, there won't be any issues on my end—you have my word, rustydrifter10.

Alright, I'm counting on it. 🙂 Catch you later.

I was told you’re already fully aware of the rules regarding partial removals since you two hashed everything out over DM. If that's the case, I’d like to ask the moderators to please make a note of that in the official logs. Since we've got that settled, your partial has been taken down, and I’m really hoping we can just move forward without any more headaches from here on out.
Thread locked early in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m thinking we could aim for somewhere around 10,000 posts as a rough target for this thread, though I’ll leave it up to the moderators to decide if they want to lock things down sooner or let it run a bit longer if they feel like it.
Joshua Diaz18 said:Look, as a member of this forum, I feel like I have the absolute right to call Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal whenever and however I want, even if there isn't an official indictment or a court verdict out there yet.

Now, if the moderators decide that we aren't allowed to label public figures as criminals without a formal charge or a conviction to back it up, then that’s just how it is—we can't call them that here. Forum rules don't just mirror the legal system; the law is only one piece of the puzzle. These rules are also about maintaining the quality of our discussions and making sure everyone else participating feels comfortable.

Honestly, I think the rest of the admin team hit the nail on the head with everything they've said, and I'm fully on board with their assessment.

Wait, which PDF are we talking about? Could you drop a link to the thread? Also, when was this originally posted?
Unacceptable moderation on the Palestine thread in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Just hold tight and wait for the official verdict on this locked thread; this isn't the place for anyone to start bickering or going back and forth.

I’m asking the Politics mods to please weigh in once they have an actual update regarding this discussion.

Could you please include a link to the thread too?
Look, you might not love the answer, but that’s just the reality of how things work here. If someone is intentionally butchering your username, just report it like everyone else is supposed to do. If you feel like nobody is actually listening to your reports, then come over here s link —though, to be honest, I don't see a link in your previous post. I’d also suggest taking a quick look at the rules in the PDF if you think there's a violation occurring, because some sections have much looser guidelines than others, which means even something like a silly nickname might not actually be against the rules. You mentioned the main moderator group—just so you know, they don't typically hand out formal warnings for stuff like this. And please, let's try to avoid starting new threads that don't follow the guidelines just because you're hoping for a different outcome.
Question regarding forum harassment and insults in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Brian Edwards78 said:If we're going down this road, it might actually be a good idea to go back and update the forum rules and the guidelines on how we hand out warnings. We really shouldn't be operating in this kind of gray area; everything needs to be laid out clearly in black and white so there's absolutely no confusion for anyone.

Honestly, the rule stating "insulting other members is prohibited" isn't ambiguous or confusing at all. There isn't some hidden loophole anywhere saying it's okay to insult someone just because you don't explicitly mention their username.

Brian Edwards78 said:But what's the actual policy regarding people intentionally twisting or mocking users' nicknames? That part of the original question hasn't been addressed yet.

Look, like I already mentioned, it really comes down to the tone of the nickname distortion. If it's being used to be offensive or provocative, then it's against the rules. If you see someone twisting a name to be disrespectful, just report it and the moderators will step in to decide if a sanction is necessary.

Could someone be a total saint and explain the actual logic behind getting this post banned?
The whole "harassment" excuse feels totally off since they didn't even call out a specific user by name in the post. To me, handing out bans like this just makes zero sense. 🤷
Look, you don't actually have to drop a username; if it's obvious who you're talking about from the context of what was written, it still counts.
Update moderator and admin roles in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Since our admin team occasionally drops some pretty vital updates here that everyone really needs to stay on top of, we aren't planning on adding an ignore feature for them—at least not anytime soon.
Thread closed in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The thread got locked because the core issue from the opening post was actually resolved. After that, it just turned into a bunch of pointless bickering that wasn't adding anything to the conversation. See? We ended up right back here again, so now you finally see why it had to be shut down.

Can you quote cardboard posts? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Look, this is an old complaint, and we really don't go circling back to previous grievances unless there’s a damn good reason to do so. Since the original post was already addressed, I think we can call it a day on this one. And just to reiterate what I mentioned before, getting a formal warning isn't an automatic "yes" every single time—it all depends on a whole bunch of different factors involved in the situation.
Can you quote cardboard posts? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
In general, I don't see why there shouldn't be any issue with quoting the constructive parts of a post to keep the conversation moving in a productive direction. If a user has been banned, you can certainly comment on their points broadly, but you shouldn't be asking them direct questions or addressing them personally, since they aren't actually able to jump back into the discussion anyway.
Can you quote cardboard posts? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Yeah, you can definitely end up with a ban if you just quote a banned post and keep pushing the same argument that got them flagged in the first place. Look, some banned posts actually have a constructive angle to them, and it’s perfectly fine to jump in on those parts. But if someone was just being off-topic, trolling, or being straight-up disrespectful, and everyone else keeps piling onto that nonsense, it becomes nearly impossible to follow the rules. It doesn't mean you'll get banned every single time—it really all comes down to what you actually write, whether there were prior warnings, the overall context, and all that other stuff—but yeah, it's a real possibility.

Look, I wasn't actually asking to have the moderator sanctioned or anything; I was just suggesting they hold back on those kinds of comments, especially since we're already seeing plenty of posts here that would normally earn a warning card.

In that case, you really should have just reported those repetitive comparisons, because honestly, it feels like other users are being allowed to post things just as bad—if not worse—than that. Since it looks like everyone is trying to turn this thread into a massive personal grudge match again, I'm locking it down. If a moderator truly deserves a strike, then the supermod or I will handle it. In the meantime, I’m calling on everyone—not just the moderators, but all you regular members too—to please stop the trolling if you actually care about keeping this discussion productive and high-quality.

To me, your posts feel more like they’re dripping with irony and sarcasm. I mean, sure, they can come off a bit trollish when everything is just thrown out there in one big pile, but if that kind of stuff isn't being called out elsewhere in the thread anyway, I really don't see why the moderator needs to be penalized for it.
