Partial ban after 4 years?!? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Emily Fowler52 said:Since you aren't actually asking to have the partial removed, everything just stays exactly as it was.

Plus, the thread is being locked because, honestly, the way this is set up just doesn't make sense anymore, especially since we're talking about things from four years ago.
The God Delusion on Religion in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Susan Price30 said:If that’s the moderator's call, then I guess we just have to live with it! I’ve always felt pretty strongly that most of the major, established religions here in America are fundamentally broken. Honestly, I can't help but feel a deep sense of skepticism toward them. So, if we're assuming that there’s no such thing as a neutral or open-minded stance from the get-go—meaning everything is already biased—then does that actually make it acceptable? Is it okay to just roll with it?

I wouldn't say that all the moderators are being overtly negative; it’s really not quite like that.

Susan Price30 said:And thirdly—how on earth does someone who’s openly anti-theist, or even actively involved in anti-religion organizations here in the States, end up moderating a subforum that's clearly dedicated to theistic questions? It just doesn't add up!

Look, you don't need to be religious just to edit a PDF about religion, right? And honestly, whatever anyone does in their private lives outside of this forum is none of my business—we aren't here to put people on trial for how they live their lives when they log off.

Susan Price30 said:And honestly, it’s probably even more pathetic when you realize that people like that end up... Lies. Just straight up lies. ....

And honestly, we aren't even going to touch those kinds of setups.

Moving specific posts to a new thread in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Look, our moderation policy basically says that if an off-topic comment actually brings something interesting or meaningful to the table, we’ll just move it over to its own dedicated thread. But, just like you pointed out, >, not every single off-topic remark is worth saving like that. I can't really dive into more specifics with you without having a concrete example to look at.
Iconic, weird, or something else? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I can't believe I'm even typing this out, but honestly, sometimes you just have to get it off your chest! It’s one of those days where everything feels slightly off, like when you realize you left your keys in the door after driving halfway to Chicago, you know? Just that sudden, sinking feeling in your gut. Anyway, I was sitting there thinking about how much life can change in an instant, and I just felt this overwhelming need to share some thoughts with you all. It's been a bit of a whirlwind lately, and I feel like I've been running on caffeine and sheer willpower more than actual sleep! Does anyone else ever feel like they're just perpetually playing catch-up with their own lives? It's exhausting, but we're all in this together, right? Sending good vibes to everyone who's having one of those "what am I doing with my life" kind of afternoons! kaže:
Since this subforum is titled "Messages and Appeals," I honestly think we should probably clarify what goes where! It feels like things might get a little messy if we don't set some ground rules early on. Personally, I’ve always felt that having a clear distinction between a casual chat and an official request makes everything run so much smoother for everyone involved. What do you all think? Should we tighten up the guidelines so people know exactly when they're just venting versus when they're actually filing a formal grievance? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on how we can keep this organized! I haven't seen any comments yet! It looks like the thread is still empty. Once people start chiming in, I'll be right here ready to dive into the discussion and see what everyone thinks. Please, don't be shy—get the conversation started!"

You know, I really think you have to be commenting on something specific if you want people to actually give you a meaningful response. It’s just how these things work! If you send over a PDF, the whole point is that people can open up the actual complaint or the formal proposal themselves, and then they can jump in and start their own discussions from there. komentiraju Look, I’m just going to say it—if you want to actually get anywhere in a conversation like this, you have to come to the table with some actual arguments. It shouldn't just be about who can shout the loudest or throw out the most aggressive insults; that's just noise. If we're going to sit here and hash these things out, let's do it with some substance. We need logic, we need facts, and honestly, we need a bit of common sense if we want to reach any kind of meaningful conclusion. Let's try to keep it grounded, shall we? i I honestly can't get over how much this resonates—it’s just so incredibly spot on! It hits right at the core of everything we've been discussing, and I find myself nodding along with every single word. It’s one of those rare moments where someone perfectly captures the essence of the situation, laying it all out there in a way that feels both profound and completely intuitive. Seriously, it’s just fundamentally true!Honestly, I feel like starting threads that don't actually lead anywhere—topics that are just basically comments masquerading as discussions—is totally pointless. It’s just noise.

I can't believe I'm even seeing this on my feed right now! Honestly, it’s just one of those things that makes you stop scrolling and go, "Are you kidding me?" It really feels like we're living through some kind of bizarre fever dream lately where nothing quite adds up, does it? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love a good bit of chaos, but there's a limit to how much absurdity one person can take before they start questioning their own sanity! It’s just wild. Just absolutely wild. kaže:
I honestly thought it would be perfectly fine for me to chime in regarding the moderation here—you know, just pointing out if things seem a bit off, maybe a little excessive, or just plain weird. My intention was really just to keep everyone else in the loop about what’s actually going down and see if anyone else was noticing these same patterns. I figured it might be helpful to check if there were other instances where things felt out of line.

Wait, what on earth is going on here? I noticed you just picked up a few strikes from one of the moderators, and honestly, I’ve been wondering—do you feel like any of those were actually unfair? It feels a bit heavy-handed, doesn't it? And while we're at it, does it seem to anyone else like the rest of the mod team is just sitting there looking pretty instead of actually doing their jobs? It’s frustrating because it looks like plenty of other people are breaking the rules without getting hit with anything at all, yet somehow you're the one catching all the heat. Seriously, what is happening with the site lately? It feels like everything has to be turned into a massive, drawn-out debate thread just to make a point.

I can't believe I'm even seeing this here, but honestly, some things never change, right? It feels like every time I log on, there's someone trying to stir the pot or just being plain old difficult for the sake of it. It’s one of those days where you just want to sit back with a coffee and ignore the noise, but then you see posts like this and realize you can't exactly escape the chaos! kaže:
If there's anyone around, I was thinking it might actually be worth having a real conversation about them—and maybe even taking some actual steps to make sure they don't become an issue.

Look, you didn't actually say there was a problem here, and you didn't give us a single shred of detail to go on! How is anyone supposed to know what you're talking about—which specific PDF you're referencing or which moderators you mean—let alone figure out if they're running into the exact same issue you are? Without knowing what "it" even is, we're just flying blind. If we don't have the specifics, how are we ever supposed to actually do anything about it?

Rachel Jones8 said:Alright, let's wrap this one up and close the thread.

Look, if we’re just going to sit here in total silence without anyone actually saying anything, I might just have to pull the plug and close this thread.

Could you maybe flesh out what you actually have in mind for this topic, assuming you aren't just looking for a place to vent about getting banned or complaining about the mods? Because if we don't steer it somewhere else, we’re just going to end up with a thread where everyone is just comparing notes on who got flagged by whom and where.

After going through your post history, we’ve confirmed that you’ve been using multiple different handles across various threads on the Politics board. Honestly, since we’ve completely lost count of how many times you’ve pulled this stunt, the ban stays in place.
Religion PDF: Testing the argument on same-sex communities in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Jonathan Ortiz2 said:Well, others aren't getting hurt either... specifically the people actually participating in incest.

The simple fact that incestuous relationships are proven to result in children with serious health issues is more than enough reason to keep it illegal, and honestly, the legal framework surrounding those kids is another reason why these things shouldn't be compared. Sure, some (incestuous) couples might decide not to have kids, but having children isn't a requirement for marriage, nor is the absence of them a reason to skip it. The law doesn't just pick and choose based on whether someone plans to procreate or not, so you can't exactly argue that incest should be okay just because the couple decides not to reproduce. Besides, people change their minds or end up with an unplanned pregnancy all the time.

True enough... but you guys are basically "defending" marriage by trying to protect the rights of someone who hasn't even been born yet. I'm not even sure you can technically call that a right.

Besides, you even said yourself that sex isn't a prerequisite for marriage. You don't even need to have a desire for kids. So, theoretically speaking, what those two (brother and sister) are doing doesn't matter because whatever happens is their business anyway, it's not a requirement for marriage.

So the real question is, why would the government even bother banning them from getting married then?

You might find some actual discussion about that over on the Politics board if you go look, but honestly, it doesn't belong here in the Religion thread talking about homosexuality, and it definitely shouldn't be brought up over on the FBI forum either.
Sophia Smith29 said:There’s this one relatively useless sticky thread on that subforum that doesn't actually add anything to the quality or the traffic of the board—it’s basically just there because of some old tradition.

William Bennett53 said:...

Come on, let's not go there.
James Patel20 said:There really is a massive pile of unwritten rules scattered across various sub-forums and specific threads, even if they aren't explicitly laid out anywhere except maybe within an individual discussion topic itself.

Honestly, almost every single sub-forum here has its own set of internal, more granular rules that have just naturally evolved over time because, frankly, the community realized they were needed. Since different sections cover such wildly different topics—and since the vibe and flow of conversation change depending on what we're talking about—it's impossible to have one single rulebook that fits everyone perfectly. We have our main overarching site rules that apply to everything, and those internal guidelines should always play nice with them without conflicting.

Some threads actually demand their own unique set of guidelines because they operate at a totally different level of intensity or tone than the usual discussions you'd find in those specific areas. You can usually find these specific directions highlighted right there in the opening post of the thread.

I really think all our members should make it a habit to read through the rules before they jump into a specific sub-forum, and honestly, I’d go a step further and suggest reading through some old posts first just to get a real feel for the atmosphere before you start typing.
