Health / Nose job subforum - Report on moderator Trevor in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The admin already covered all the bases here:

mellowraven22 said:Wait, he dropped a few swear words but didn't actually attack anyone? Oh myyyyy. Honestly, that trolling penalty was totally justified.

The kind of stuff you linked above? Yeah, that’s perfectly fine. This forum isn't some stuffy NPR broadcast; people swear, they use sarcasm, they lean into irony, and at the end of the day, most of the mods are just regular people too.

And that link? Again, the swearing really doesn't matter in this specific context.

Just a heads-up, this thread has been deleted.

Look, some subreddits are actually built for those kinds of discussions, but Bon Appétit isn't really one of them.

The idea itself isn't bad, but I really wonder at what point this just turns into a giant advertisement fest from every direction. We can't make it so that only the regulars over at Bon Appétit get to post, because then we’re basically inviting everyone to just sign up and start spamming us with ads. It’s not about whether someone has some homegrown eggs or a bit of lettuce from their backyard garden—that’s fine! The real issue is that on threads like these, you constantly see people showing up who actually make a living off it, like shop owners or distributors, and they turn the whole conversation into a sales pitch.

Look, we already have that PDF on MTV if anyone wants to sell their local goods; they can just stick a link to that ad in their signature, and anyone browsing through the PDF will see it. Honestly, it’s also totally fine if someone happens to mention their own homemade products or recommends them in a thread where it actually makes sense, as long as they aren't doing it constantly or derailing topics with off-topic plugs.
Banned for no reason. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
If you're looking to appeal a ban, you can't really do it from an account that's already been suspended; instead, you'll need to head over to the banned users corner.
Alright, everything's sorted out now. Huge thanks to you guys for the help—I'll catch you all later over on the Politics board!

I am so sorry, please forgive me! I just gave the mods there a little nudge to let them know I was dropping by.

I’m totally with you on this one. It wasn't some formal moderator warning, and honestly, it wasn't even major enough to warrant a massive debate over on the PŽK. crimsonscout19, seriously, come find us if you actually run into a real issue with a moderator's decision.

Betty Sanders said:Nico... Is anyone there? Did you let the tech support know it's acting up again? 😢

Yeah, I already reached out to them again. I actually sent an email to service a few days ago and they told me everything was fixed, but then the very next day it started acting wonky all over again. So, I've notified the tech crew... Honestly, it's such a bummer that they haven't actually managed to fix this for good yet.
Adobe Acrobat - Missing Hacking thread in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Hey, could you do me a favor and take a closer look at the rules for this Adobe Acrobat file? I'm curious about which specific document you used to start this thread, what exactly your post covered, and what the title was...
Skateboarding and its impact on local food spots in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Just a heads-up: please don't start threads targeting specific forum members. If someone’s posting style is getting on your nerves, just report the individual posts instead. If you feel like a moderator isn't stepping in, you can always reach out to the FBI with direct links to the posts and a quick explanation of why they don't belong in that particular discussion. We can't allow those vague, general threads aimed at one person that lack any real details or specific guidelines.

Sent a DM to rustydrifter10 this morning, but haven't heard a peep yet.
I'm guessing they're just tied up—I really just wanted to say thanks for the reply 😍

Honestly, it looks like life just kept pulling rustydrifter10 away from the computer and the internet all day long. 😢

Here you go! 🙂
Sorry for the wait, everyone! I finally managed to sit down and dig through all the threads mentioned in the opening post.

I’ve gone through both discussions along with the deleted posts, and honestly, I think the moderator made the right call—those posts really didn't belong here and should have been wiped. That said, things probably shouldn't have even escalated to that point in the first place, especially since the moderator himself was jumping into the off-topic chatter. Even though he did clarify that he was just stepping in to clear things up before deleting everything later, it still felt a bit messy.

Regarding the whole advertising issue, I haven't scrutinized the entire PDF file, but from what I can gather, silversailor isn't exactly being sneaky about what he does; he just mentions it occasionally in various threads. You could argue it's a form of indirect self-promotion, but let’s be real—this forum is crawling with stuff like that. It’s almost impossible to avoid people mentioning their specific industries or their personal blogs, especially when they're browsing PDFs that overlap with their expertise. They aren't necessarily trying to run a commercial; they’re just talking about what they know and love.

Of course, if the fact that he can source certain items starts popping up constantly in places where it has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation, then yeah, we can definitely label that as a blatant attempt at direct advertising.

What I did notice, though, is that other users tend to bring up silversailor's job way more often than he does, using it against him. To me, that feels like straight-up trolling. It reminds me of that ad hominem attack that got hit with a yellow card without points.

As for the "What do you want for your home" thread, I completely agree that it shouldn't be used for people listing equipment they need for clients or professional work. Those kinds of posts ought to be cleared out. If the standard practice on the Housing forum is to hand out cards for off-topic rambling, then that’s how it should be handled here too. Though, from what I've seen, I don't think anyone is actually getting penalized for being off-topic over there. But look, if someone keeps pushing the same irrelevant content despite having their posts deleted multiple times, they really should get a warning card.

I also saw some people demanding photos of apartments just to "prove" that someone actually bought something for their place. In my opinion, that’s totally out of line. Everyone has the right to post pictures if they feel like it, or not post them if they don't. Accusing people of lying and demanding "proof" is just tacky. For instance, someone might have seventeen chairs, while I only have one in my apartment.😳 But I do have two sofas.😁 And two armchairs. And two stools. And even some little ottomans instead of coffee tables.🙂 Now I'm being off-topic, sorry!😁

On the subject of merging threads: I agree that merging is a much better move than just locking them shut. However, over the last few months, we've lost so many massive, important threads during the merging process because the server just swallows them whole.😢 We have no idea why this keeps happening, but once they're gone, they're gone for good. Because of that, I actually think it's safer to just lock a duplicate thread and point the author toward the original, rather than risking a merge that results in losing everything written in both.

If you feel like a moderator has made a mistake, please, please reach out via private message or post it here on the PŽK, rather than venting in random side-topics.

Personally, I'm not a fan of how the moderator handled this appeal. He was issued a card, we had a chat about it, and I truly believe it won't happen again.

Interiors - Moderator City: Complaint about moderation in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Just a heads-up that there’s a certain level of communication on the PŽK that just isn't allowed, and honestly, that goes for everyone without exception.

The admins are going to be looking over those controversial posts over the next few days, so I’d really appreciate it if you could all bear with us and be patient for a bit.

The Supermoderator pretty much laid it all out for you, so there’s no need to worry—that's just not how we do things here. You really want to make sure your opening post is a bit more substantial; try to dive into the details and give us some actual context to work with.

hollowmason64 said:Look, whether your username happens to be sitting right next to some PDF file or not, doesn't really change the fundamental rule here. Having admin privileges basically gives you a permanent green light to jump in whenever things start getting chaotic. If a situation blows up and the mods on duty can't get the crowd under control by themselves, you're expected to step in and clear things up. It's just part of the job description. 🤷

Look, we aren't getting any reports or other technical details right now—and honestly, I’d rather not dive into that anyway because it’s totally off-topic and involves some pretty sensitive info that I don't feel comfortable just tossing out there. Besides, there’s a massive difference between popping in for a few hours versus being here for a day or two. It just so happens that since the mods aren't around, we really need to have everything installed so we can monitor those PDFs properly, which is a whole lot easier when you actually have the software set up on your machine.

hollowmason64 said:I’m honestly feeling a bit bummed out right now because one of the really solid mods from ZK just left. I’m assuming she decided to move on her own accord, because there was absolutely no reason for them to let her go.

Honestly, that’s got absolutely nothing to do with what we're talking about right now.
