Where can I find the leaderboard? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
gentlemarlin said:But who's actually in the lead? Is there a leaderboard somewhere I can check out?

Well, it really depends on what you're looking at—who's leading in what, exactly? And if you're asking about people's individual scores, that's pretty much their own business, if that's what you mean.

stormygardener25 said:I couldn't find a thread about what to do when you totally forget your password and your email address is basically dead, so I guess I'm just gonna post it here...😁 My first account was under the name stormygardener25, but since all this mess happened, I ended up making a clone. Is it going to be an issue if I'm registered under this handle now, since it's pretty much the same thing except I added a two at the end... even though I'd honestly much rather have my old account and all my posts back, but that's just how it goes when you're someone who can't seem to remember a single password...😠 oh, and would it be possible to just close my old account since I can't get into it anymore?

If you want to get back into that old account, just shoot me a private message. Let me know what the old email associated with Shick was and give me your new, working one, and I'll go ahead and update it for you. Once that's done, you'll get a temporary password sent straight to your new inbox. 🙂

Look, I’m sorry, but this really doesn't warrant its own separate thread. There isn't anything in there particularly alarming enough to justify more than just a quick report, if it even warrants a sanction at all.
Is the moderator a tyrant? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The admins will jump in and make an official announcement on that thread if they feel it's necessary. Honestly, we really don't need two separate discussions going on about the exact same thing.
Is this thread title inappropriate? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Patrick Miller3 said:You women tend to be sensitive whenever a title uses certain colorful language—like saying "well, damn, I totally blew it"—and those get deleted for being inappropriate. It feels like certain anatomical terms are treated as sacred while others aren't, even though they're all part of everyday American vocabulary. ☕

I've been tied up lately, so I haven't had a chance to respond to your educational posts sooner.

Look, a title like "Well, damn, I just lost my mind" isn't actually descriptive enough—it doesn't tell anyone what the actual discussion is about. People snap for a million different reasons, whereas something like "I'm fed up with everyone around me" gives a much clearer idea of what the thread is actually tackling.

And there’s really no need to make sweeping generalizations here; I don't mind any kind of colorful language, and I'm a woman myself.
Student-teacher dynamics vs. parent-teacher dynamics in Students & Teens ·
Chloe Gomez6 said:There was a time when teachers could discipline students without any pushback. Why is that better than the current reality, where students often turn the tables on their instructors?

Who exactly said it was "better"? And honestly, what does it even mean to suggest this is just some kind of "payback time"? Look, abuse is abuse, plain and simple, regardless of who is doing the hurting and who is being hurt.

Mickey Mouse, if you're feeling salty about that warning, we actually have a dedicated thread for all that kind of stuff. If you're genuinely wondering why your post got pulled, feel free to head over to the Questions for Administration thread and ask there. There’s really no need to start an entirely new topic when we already have specific places for those conversations.
Apophis thread locked on Reddit in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Matthew Anderson said:If the admins really feel like the marketplace needs its own dedicated thread just for dropping links, they should just go ahead and say so right here on this thread.

Honestly, I don't think we need that. I’m totally on board with what the moderators and supermods have decided. Look, you can definitely start a topic where links serve as helpful context for a discussion, but they shouldn't be the entire foundation of the post—and please, let's not cram five different subjects into one single thread!

Joshua Garcia8 said:Wait, are those the same guys who manage the servers and the database? 🤔

If they are, please tell them to just leave everything alone because I’m pretty sure they’d need a massive hundred-page manual just to figure out how to read posts... it would go something like this: look at the last post minus 5 (that's your first unread one), then take (last - 5) plus 2 for the second unread, then ((last - 5) + 2) minus 7 for the third, and so on... ☕

🤣

Anyway, they actually reached out and said the issue is fixed, so everything should be running smoothly now.

Nicholas King said:What’s missing here—and I mean truly missing—is any actual instruction on how this process is supposed to work... specifically, how a blatantly trollish post (especially on such a sensitive topic, mind you) gets deleted and the offending user actually gets sanctioned.

So, I guess what I'm asking is: what is a regular forum member supposed to do when a moderator handles a controversial situation this catastrophically?

Look, the post was flagged and taken down. But let's be real: sometimes we just can't tell if someone is making things up on the fly or not. We can strongly suspect a story is fabricated, but usually, suspicion alone isn't enough to hand out a sanction. If a user had provided a link to another one of the author's posts proving this whole situation was made up, we would've handled it completely differently. Moderators don't go digging through a user's entire posting history just to fact-check every single claim unless it's one of those really extreme cases.

hollowtrucker77 said:Why on earth did you guys ban Linda Price5 over here??
The woman is absolutely spot on
Is this really happening just because she used the word damn or freaking??

No, it wasn't that; it was because of that "complete idiot" comment. I'll admit, at first glance, I wasn't even sure if she was targeting the author or someone else, but I eventually decided it was an insult and acted accordingly. Honestly, looking at it again, I'm having second thoughts 🙈, so I think I'm going to go ahead and rescind that warning. My apologies if I overstepped there.
Is this thread title inappropriate? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m totally on board with the moderator here—there really isn't any reason to change the thread title. Saying that someone is "screwing us over" is such a common, everyday expression, and I'm positive our younger generation has heard it a thousand times; honestly, half of them probably use it themselves! In this specific context, it just adds that extra layer of drama and feels completely authentic to what we're actually discussing.

We might have a conversation about things being "inappropriate" if the entire PDF was filled with nothing but explicit anatomical terms, but let's be real: the Psychology subforum is such a well-run, high-quality space that an occasional thread with a slightly edgier title can absolutely find its place there without anyone batting an eye.

Why are moderators allowed to troll without consequences? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Nicole, seriously, you’ve gotta stop jumping into everyone else's complaints! Every single time someone starts a new thread about a problem they're dealing with, you immediately turn it into this long-winded saga about your own points, even though we've already read pages upon pages of text about them.
Who owns the rights to forum posts? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Kevin Williams56 said:Well, I wouldn't say that's exactly how it works. From what I can gather, there aren't actually any specific forum rules governing this at all right now, so we're basically in a bit of a free-for-all where anyone can go ahead and quote whatever another user says without needing to ask for permission first.

You really have to make sure you mention exactly who you're quoting, though!

Drew Martin84 said:So, I was chiming in on that thread about "Moving back to the States" over on the diaspora forums, making a point about the American school system. I wasn't even trolling! There were at least ten other posts talking about that exact same thing before I even jumped in. I just replied to someone's comment without being rude or going off-topic, yet somehow I end up with an Infraction and my post gets nuked? Meanwhile, none of the other posts in the entire thread were touched, even though mine wasn't any different from the rest...

...I actually got hit with an Infraction for trolling, even though my post had absolutely nothing to do with trolling—it was directly related to what we were discussing.

Look, this is an appeal against a warning. Everything else you're saying is just an accusation without any actual proof. Unless you can come back with links and hard evidence showing that the moderation is biased, please don't start a new thread about it. I'm closing this one now.
Signature Permissions... no, no, no, etc... wtf?! in Forum Help! ·
mistyhound94 said:Haha, that’s exactly how it used to be! From what I could see back then, the mods and admins basically had free rein—they could swap out signatures whenever they felt like it, or even just change them for other people if someone asked. 🙂

Look, I can make those changes through the admin dashboard, not directly on the forum itself—that’s really the core of the issue here. Once that functionality is pulled, it's gone for everyone on the entire site.

Honestly, I’m right there with you on this—I feel like I could say the exact same thing about what’s going on with this forum lately. It just doesn't sit right with me that the owner hasn't checked in or said a word to us in such a long, long time.

Look, if you need anything at all, just reach out to the admins—they're right here on the front lines specifically to help us out and keep things running smoothly. We've got your back! Now, if something comes up that’s a bit outside our lane or something we just can't resolve on our own, don't worry; we'll take it straight to the big boss and get it sorted.

It honestly feels wrong that we’re seeing those unsolicited "Like" buttons being pushed just to run Facebook ads for the site, especially when the actual forum is struggling so much right now. It's frustrating because, on one hand, the platform is constantly lagging or crashing, and on the other, we’ve lost essential features—like being able to actually edit our own posts! It feels like the priorities are completely backwards. And don't even get me started on this ongoing mess with the posting order; it’s a total headache that posts submitted at the exact same time end up getting sorted alphabetically instead of chronologically. We need someone to fix the core issues before worrying about the marketing fluff.

I went ahead and flagged that issue with the tech admin, so if there’s anything that can actually be patched up, hopefully they'll get on it soon. Honestly, I have no clue why that keeps happening! :/ As for the whole "like" button situation, though—that was strictly a marketing call. The admins running this forum don't really have any say in those kinds of design decisions.

When it comes to everything else, we’re giving it our absolute all.

redhawk76 said:Why can't I edit my signature? I can't change the font size, pick a different typeface, swap out colors, or do anything at all...
When I click the Edit Signature option, it just gives me 0 zero options to actually work with...😠

For some reason, the ability to edit signatures has been disabled. I honestly have no clue why this happened or if—or even when—it might be brought back.

mistyhound94 said:It seems like the only thing they care about is having that little "Like" button right there, while the admins and mods get treated like royalty with full signature editing powers, leaving us mere mortals and regular forum users stuck with nothing. Honestly, good luck trying to "like" this forum to help promote it and bring more people in! 👋

Now, hold on a second, because that’s really not how it works. Admins and moderators aren't being treated like some kind of untouchable elite when it comes to changing signatures—at least, not in the way you're painting it. The reality is that the signature editing feature has been turned off for everyone on the forum; nobody has access to it right now. The reason it looks like they have special rights is simply because certain moderation tasks are handled through a separate moderator panel, which includes that specific setting. Even then, it isn't enabled for every single moderator, just a select few. It’s not about playing favorites; it’s just down to the technical side of things and how vBulletin is configured.
New mods on the Religion subforum? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
We’ve just started rolling out some updates over at Religion, so the layout of that PDF is actually going to change quite a bit. It’s honestly way too early to start speculating about any potential tightening of the rules right now. Because of that, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread for the time being.
