Linda Rodriguez38 said:we're talking about KZB we all know exactly what the banned corner is for and how you're supposed to act in there honestly, the mods should be the ones who get this best—instead of flexing their power on us poor losers like, "yeah, we can do whatever we want" and don't even try to excuse it by saying every single mod got a warning, because they did! They just got one for the sake of appearances, yet they completely ignored the very rules they're supposed to be setting an EXAMPLE with when they lecture us "uneducated" little forum users you guys should all be ASHAMED this might turn into a total mess, but even in the middle of a massive blowout, the people WHO MAKE THE RULES are the ones who should actually follow them—especially when it comes to us and if you think I'm not part of that, you're dead wrong I'm part of this community whether people like it or not, and I'm gonna say exactly what's on my mind until someone tries to shut me up by force—bam!
What are you even talking about? Every moderator chatting with Steven Ruiz got a single warning for breaking the subforum rules, not for the chat itself (as far as I know). The warnings were handed out to everyone participating in the chat, and then the thread was locked. That's standard procedure for any subforum... big deal.
sol faking vat, if we're ignoring the rules, and you intentionally ignored them, you got a warning, so what now? Next time you decide to ignore a rule on purpose, what are you looking for? A symbolic warning or something else?
Like mistywolf17 said—you guys are spinning your wheels without seeing the full picture of how things work here...🙄
Morgan Rodriguez57 said:Nah... well, at least that was how things worked back in my day—you could say just about anything in the PMs, and a mod (or anyone else, really) wasn't allowed to post them or punish you for them...
Yeah... dealing with people spewing nonsense at the moderators is really the Administrator's call...
That said, I'm with Michelle Alvarez8—leaking private messages in public isn't right 👍. But think about this: what if the Admin drops a ban because someone sent an insulting PM to a mod, and then that user goes to the KzB complaining they have no idea why they got sanctioned? How do you prove it without showing the message? If the reason just says "due to an insulting PM," people are going to start spinning stories, claiming it's fake or demanding proof—even though the rule against sharing PMs still stands 🤷
Sean Cox48 said:For instance, this kind of post doesn't get banned:
And even this one, talking about a fallen veteran, doesn't get flagged either.
Nah, those bad actors won't ban you for stuff like that, but I guess if you happen to call Hillary Clinton a flounder, the bans start dropping like flies.
What's the big deal with saying our country is being run by a bunch of cronies—specifically referring to the current administration? Are we really going to blacklist people just for speaking their minds about the government? I’m starting to smell a little bit of censorship here. Besides, I thought you were supposed to be against those radical leftist ideologies. 😕 Calling them "stable hands" is honestly being too nice to this administration. If you ask me, I’d paraphrase one of our politicians by calling them a bunch of cattle—but hey, that's just my two cents.🤷
Regarding that second thread—people aren't actually debating the fallen veterans there; the whole argument is about the old fascist sympathizers. I don't see what the connection is between our service members and those guys. 😕🤷Either you're trolling or you're just straight-up lying. It’s pretty shameful—you call yourself a man of faith, yet here you are spinning tales. 🙂
Just a heads-up: everything posted here belongs to Reddit, not the people who actually wrote it. The admins can basically do whatever they want with your content...
To "give someone a piece of your mind" basically means to call them out or put them in their place; like if a guy was acting like a know-it-all and his manager totally chewed him out in front of the whole office...
Jeremy Diaz4 said:Oh, look who’s talking. You deleted my post and flagged me as a provocateur just for responding to someone insulting our community abroad. My reply to that troll was actually pretty mild... But of course, the other moderator took offense. A troll posting hate speech against Americans living overseas is fine, but if I respond, suddenly I'm the problem? He should have just wiped the troll and sent them a warning instead.
Whatever, we all know how this site works. Most of the mods here act like they're some kind of hard-left activists...
Alright, buddy... You called us communists playing at being leftists ☕. Honestly, I couldn't care less about your political leanings or anyone else's on Reddit. I’ve never deleted a post just because I disagreed with it. If that were the case, half this place would be partially or permanently banned by now, and threads would be disappearing way faster. But hey, I let people have their opinions, even if they might be wrong. 🤷
Everyone on the Politics board takes themselves a little too seriously. So what if someone insults the diaspora? Look, generally speaking, people are entitled to an opinion, even a negative one. Some people openly dislike those living abroad, and others openly support them... then everyone just starts accusing each other of trolling or being hateful.
Anyway, this whole debate is getting pretty pointless for me... And if I can add one thing, I'm not surprised that the same people constantly complaining about the Politics mods are the ones making all this noise. 😉
Amanda Booth42 said:Those two instances were part of my early registration, but apparently, they don't show up until they call you out publicly like this. Once that happens, they vanish, even though it would be helpful to know how many points someone like Libertango actually earned from those two entries—under the rules, it should have been 45 each.
And just to drive the point home: you don't need a formal invitation to punish those of us who don't see eye to eye with the crowd. For instance, Reson@tor hands them out for no reason at all, and don't even get me started on Ryan Vaughn7; everyone knows exactly how he "operates."
From what I understand, all you really need to do is check a user's profile to see their strike history—how many they have, who issued them, and so on. Go ahead, take a look...🤷 Odi pa vidi...
As for having different opinions—there's a big difference between reporting a post and a moderator stepping in to decide if something is actual trolling or just being rude (aside from the obvious stuff). On the Politics board, people who can actually hold a constructive conversation are rare; it's mostly just endless bickering. What one person calls trolling, another sees as a valid point. Try taking that into account for once.
Mark Nguyen6 said:The problem isn't that the criteria are too strict. It’s more that they are inconsistent and, frankly, unprofessional. I mentioned one specific instance earlier as an example.
Generally speaking, I would actually advocate for the strictest possible standards. One insult or a single swear word? A month-long ban—no problem at all. I think the quality of our discussions would improve almost instantly if we did that.
However, the crucial part—the absolute dealbreaker—is that the rules must be applied consistently to everyone and remain relevant to the content. We shouldn't have moderators mixing their own personal biases or worldviews with the actual moderation guidelines. And honestly, this has reached a rather concerning level lately.
It feels like the moderators have reached a point where they're practically walking on eggshells, essentially saying, "Look, I don't feel like dealing with your nonsense, so I'm just going to delete your post and ban you—what are you going to do about it?" I experienced this very thing recently with Sam Green73. Out of nowhere, during a perfectly normal discussion, he coolly labeled me a nostalgic for the old regime—I have no idea why he felt entitled to categorize me like that—closed the thread, and handed me a red card. 😁
In my opinion, forget the topic itself; once you get a red card, what was being discussed becomes irrelevant. It's frustrating. But this behavior is simply not serious.
Sean Cox48 said:It’s like what a real moderator would say: there’s that little flag icon under a user's handle to report someone if they're acting up or breaking the rules. Or, if you've got authority like you do, you can just scrap the post entirely. Trolling, throwing insults, and then hitting delete isn't how you actually have a conversation. I guess that only applies to us mere mortals. Mods can probably troll and insult whoever they want because, hey, they’re the mods.🙄
A fellow forum member dropped a post, someone replied to it, and then—boom—every single post after that was wiped out.🤷What's your deal?
Sean Cox48 said:You’re easily the biggest troll on this board. You basically pull a power move by deleting posts and stripping everything out of context, then act like you're just "having a debate" when you're actually just being a jerk. You can see that in this post of yours too—you’re making huge generalizations. Who exactly are "you" and who are "we"? The guy was just sharing his own take.He basically said you guys are totally incompetent and just aren't cutting it at your jobs. I’m totally with him on this one. You guys are honestly just incompetent and acting in bad faith. You keep breaking your own rules while expecting everyone else to follow them perfectly, then you go ahead and ban users for posting things that look exactly like what you're doing. It's a joke. If he only offended you by telling the truth, you should've just hit him with a ban instead of trolling him. That's basically doing exactly what you're supposed to be fighting against. Nah, it’s way easier to just troll. What kind of insult over PM? What are you even talking about? It looks to me like you're just fighting your own private wars.🙄 You’re generalizing again—it really shows what you're made of.
He posted that on a thread about slurs... basically, he said something that had absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. So, I just shared my take on it. We basically just traded opinions and left it at that. It’s funny how people can go off-topic and troll all day without a peep, but the second a moderator weighs in, suddenly everyone starts pointing fingers. Typical.☕
Oh yeah... don't let me forget. You really went ahead and called us moderators "arrogant incompetents." Real classy. Look, you’re more than welcome to your opinion, but I’ve got one of my own: an arrogant incompetent is exactly what you're holding between two fingers when you're taking a leak. 👍
Walther hasn't done anything to offend me... he’d have to do a lot more than that before I actually felt insulted.
Oh, really? So when you "virtuous," polite, friendly, respectful, and tolerant forum members insult us, that’s just your constitutionally protected democratic right, right? And we moderators are just supposed to take it because it’s part of the job description? It’s funny how you conveniently left out what the user actually said that triggered our response in the first place. If you’re going to cry foul about injustice, show the whole picture, not just the parts that make you look good. But hey, maybe you're too busy, so I'll do the heavy lifting for you
Basically, your highly educated buddy wrote this: "...but those totally incompetent people who don't deserve to moderate a kindergarten discussion, let alone politics, for several reasons, uneducatedness, incompetence, malice, bias, and I won't be wrong if I call them stupid, and honestly, you aren't any better." In your book, is that an insult or just someone voicing their opinion? If it's an insult, they get a ban... if it's an opinion, then let us moderators voice our opinion regarding the disrespect shown by your esteemed colleague
Don't you feel even a little bit embarrassed? How can you openly insult people you don't even know like that? I'm speaking strictly for myself here. Can you name one single time I've publicly insulted, belittled, called someone names, or gone off on them via PM? Just give me one example. I can give you a dozen. You seem to think we're just going to sit here quietly while you guys trash us. Think again ☕
If someone is trolling, go ahead and report them... otherwise, you're just talking empty words...
Look, man, your first thread got locked because there wasn't a poll set up by the time I hopped online... It's true I told you to go ahead and start a thread with a poll, BUT I didn't delete it—another moderator from the Politics section did. Doesn't matter who specifically. The Politics board is run by a moderation team that makes calls together, not just me. Just because I made one suggestion doesn't mean every single mod has to jump on board... That's how the decision to pull the thread was made.
Honestly, I couldn't care less about what percentage of votes went to which candidate or what the margins were. You know what I mean? Who cares? These accusations that mods are censoring specific views have honestly become a joke at this point. Drop those conspiracy theories 🙄; threads about Tony Blair vanish like mushrooms, and now every single sentence someone types becomes a whole thing. Every single statement turns into a debate where people fight with an IQ that barely hits double digits...🙄🙄 and then when it gets deleted, suddenly it's censorship. Give me a break. Read some of the posts in those threads; there’s nothing to censor. You’d be better off sitting back and sighing at how petty everyone is, fighting over nonsense like their lives depend on it. And then everyone starts pointing fingers at the mods... Even that thread about Tony Blair's departure turned into a massive brawl over far-right versus far-left politics...
Bottom line: I didn't delete the threads you're talking about, another moderator did. No, I'm not just doing whatever my boss Anderson tells me to do; I follow the Reddit rules and the Politics handbook after checking in with the rest of the team ☕. I have zero intention of censoring anyone, so your "very insightful" comments don't hold any water.
