The Watch (2004) in Movies ·
There’s finally a successor to Night Watch! It’s called Volkodav. I’ve been digging around and managed to find some info and various teasers on it. Here .

Has anyone else actually talked about this movie? 😕

Just watched it for the first time today—it was great seeing Emmanuelle Seigner again in a Roman Polanski film (reminded me of her first time working with Harrison Ford in New York City). 👍

It’s a brilliant breakdown of male-female dynamics, featuring a few subtle BDSM undertones early on. Honestly, the first half is way stronger than the second.

I mean, come on—is someone really going to rent a sailboat without ever having stepped foot on one before? Besides, you're supposed to have a license... though honestly, those permits seem to be handed out like candy these days, even for just being a boat skipper. How much coverage does that actually provide? And can you take out a sailboat over 22 feet, or what's the limit on those things?
Traffic violation in Austria in Law ·
Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice here, maybe from someone who has dealt with something similar.
Here’s the deal: my girlfriend went shopping over in Austria—I think it was at an H&M—and she ended up swiping some shirts. They caught her, the police showed up to take down all her info, and they let her go after she paid a $100 fine on the spot to cover their "administrative costs." She thought that was the end of it, but then a formal summons arrived in the mail for a court date in Austin. Apparently, she has to show up to answer for the attempted theft. I should probably mention the total value of the stuff she grabbed was about $115. Obviously, she’s going to go, but what actually happens there? Are they going to detain her or what? I did a little digging into the local laws and even reached out to our embassy. They told me this isn't exactly unheard of, but said it’s best if she shows up. They mentioned she’ll most likely just face a fine, though they couldn't give me a ballpark figure. They also recommended some lawyers in Austin who speak English fluently. Now I'm stuck wondering: should I call those lawyers, or should she just show up on her own? I have no idea how much the whole ordeal might cost, so if anyone has any info—especially firsthand experience—please help me out!

Thx

Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I’ve just been diagnosed with OCD, and my experience at the local state hospital was honestly pretty disheartening. I waited weeks just to get an appointment, and when I finally sat down with someone, the whole evaluation lasted maybe ten minutes. It’s not enough. I’ve been spending hours every single day stuck in these repetitive loops, and I’m starting to get really anxious that my coworkers are noticing. Because of that, I’ve decided to skip the public system and find a private psychiatrist who will actually take the time to listen and help.
The catch is, I am struggling to find any solid recommendations or even a clear list of specialists who actually focus on OCD.
If anyone has a lead on a good specialist, please let me know—either here in the comments or via DM. Thanks so much in advance!

So, I’ve been looking through some sailing school websites lately... they offer a one or two-week beginner course, then an advanced class to get you ready for solo sailing, and finally the skipper certification...

Does anyone else think that seems a bit rushed? Like, is a week really enough time before someone is out there on their own? Even getting a driver's license takes way longer than that. 😁

ruggedfalcon2 said:Look, I know Branko pretty well... but like I said, I couldn't care less about his personal life. Honestly, I don't think any fight show should be focusing on that stuff anyway.

This isn't even about his private life.

ruggedfalcon2 said:Branko is a fighting genius, and that's the only thing this show should be covering. If you're so obsessed with legal disputes, why don't you just start a thread about Cikatica over on the Law subforum?👋 👎

I’m not sure how much of a genius he actually is. I'm not here to play judge, but like most American fighters, Branko is pretty raw—definitely more of a Mike Tyson type than an Ali type.

I can only say the same thing I said about Mirko during the Fedor fight thread. Even if Mirko had won, I still would've walked away thinking Fedor was the superior fighter.

Maybe Cikatica has the best record, maybe he's the greatest, but based on his style and how he carries himself both inside and outside the cage, I don't feel an ounce of respect for him—at least from what I can see from a distance.
Are you seriously suggesting that a fighter's greatness is measured solely by their wins and losses, even if they have zero character?

You can't just walk away from a contract unilaterally unless there's a specific clause allowing it. I mean, sure, you *can*, but there are going to be consequences. We'd really need to look at the fine print first... cutting ties early might disqualify someone from future appearances, trigger massive penalties, or result in huge fines and all that.

ruggedfalcon2 said:Look, strictly by the numbers, Cikatich is the best.😉 But why does that automatically mean he’s the best guy outside the ring? Take Ip Man, for example—he's basically the gold standard for Wing Chun. Does it really matter if people say he was constantly high? I don't think there's a connection there. Anyway, I agree we need to stay objective and neutral here.👍
- I definitely agree that Truntic is a legend who could offer so much insight, not just regarding Wing Chun (though that's his main thing), but about Karate (since he was one of the pioneers of Karate in the US), Judo, and even weapon training. By the way, if international journalists were able to land big stories on him before, I don't see why our local media couldn't do the same. The only question is whether he’s still interested in doing all that. Honestly, it feels like he’s done with the spotlight, but hey, you never know if someone reaches out.🙂

Regarding Cikatich, since most of us only know him through hearsay and don't have solid arguments, we don't have much to contribute. However, coppermarlin6 clearly has firsthand experience, and what they're saying seems to align with the general vibe and reputation surrounding him.

I actually disagree with the idea that how someone acts outside the ring doesn't matter. Everyone has different criteria for what they look for in an athlete or a teacher. To be totally honest, if I were an Ip Man student and found out he was regularly getting high in a public house, I don't think I'd stick around. Maybe I would—I don't truly know what kind of guy he was in person, and nobody is perfect—but character matters immensely when you're spending that much time with someone, especially in traditional martial arts rather than just a competitive sport. If I were a master, I wouldn't let a student like that train with me (unless it's a pro club where you can't really control the environment). It’s like being a business owner; I wouldn't hire someone who is a total thief, even if they were talented enough to make me a ton of money. I don't want that kind of person in my business or having to deal with them every day.

Now, smoking isn't exactly a huge deal—bad habits don't necessarily define your character, even if they aren't exactly "virtuous." But what people are saying about Brian is a completely different story. Drunkenness or other addictions mostly hurt the individual, but here we're talking about potentially messing with other people's careers and lives, specifically the trajectory of a professional fighter. We're also talking about how someone operates within the fighting community and how fights are organized. This isn't about Brian's private life; we aren't digging into drug use, affairs, or shady finances. If what coppermarlin6 is saying is true, it directly impacts the integrity of the sport itself.

Maybe this should be moved to its own thread, unless the plan is to do a specific segment on Brian...

Truntic would be a fantastic choice if we could actually talk him into it. He's the first person who comes to mind whenever traditional martial arts in America are mentioned, and it looks like everyone else feels the same way.

I mean, you’ve got a point there. There’s really no sense in turning a show into a platform for petty arguments and airing dirty laundry... but then again, if some talented fighter gets screwed over because of someone else's arrogance (I won't get into details, I'm telling you), and they can't take on the big institutions directly, how else are they supposed to change things without using the media?

So, it really just comes down to the show's concept—whether they want to stay strictly focused on the technical side of martial arts in America or if they aren't afraid to dive into the messier, more controversial topics.👋

ruggedfalcon2 said:The show should stick to the ring and actual skills... there’s already way too much gossip floating around other media outlets anyway. I just care about Branko Cikatić—he's our greatest fighter of all time, and that's all that matters to me.👋

That might be true... though calling someone the "greatest of all time" is always pretty subjective and debatable.
It really depends on what the show is trying to achieve...

If it's a show about boxing, you're probably not going to escape the Don King circus... even if he isn't a fighter himself, and honestly, his reputation isn't exactly spotless😁.. but he's such a massive, eccentric personality who has shaped the sport that you can't just ignore him. Plus, since Branko is such a legend, you have to assume—though I don't know enough about him personally or his ties to the major promoters to say for sure—that he still carries significant weight in the scene, even if he isn't fighting anymore. You can't dodge that influence, whether it's good or bad.

Anyway, like I said... it all comes down to how they intend to run the show.

ruggedfalcon2 said:The show is supposed to be about the fighters, not their personal lives... if someone has an issue with Branko, they should just say it to his face instead of doing this... then again, nobody expects Branko to be everyone's favorite guy... the show focuses on combat sports, and it would be better if it actually stuck to that topic.

There's zero doubt that Branko is a fighting legend, and in that sense, he’s an essential part of any review of American (or even global) combat sports... but honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if what coppermarlin6 was saying turned out to be true—assuming there's actual proof—that he shouldn't be a mouthpiece for the show.
I don't see why that's off the table...
If people just spoke directly to one another, we wouldn't need shows, social media, news segments, or anything else... In a way, people who live in the public eye and make a living by "entertaining" the masses automatically end up more exposed and vulnerable... So, in my opinion... just like you have to be careful not to use the media for petty personal feuds or character assassinations just because you dislike someone... it's the same here... If it's actually true that Branko has done things to sabotage other people's careers for his own gain (which is how I'm reading this, though I don't know the specifics so I'm taking it with a grain of salt), then he deserves to be called out by the very media he chooses to use whenever it suits him...
