Whenever someone brings up "any trouble," my mind goes straight to Dept S.
I’ve only ever heard their first three singles. Their 1981 album finally dropped this year—it's called Substance.

As for the next group, I'm talking about all the albums by Toulouse Tragic - Mulatto, which are still impossible to find on CD. I managed to order some cassettes (the last two) from Alternative Tentacles, but I'm not sure if they have any vinyl left. If anyone knows, please let me know. Here's the tracklist:

Italians fall down & look up Juda for The Blind Locos Por el sebe hot man Pussy Chartreuse
Judo for the Blind
Locos Por El
Hot Man Pussy
Chartreuse Toulouse

To me, Toulouse Tragic sounds the closest to that better Alica Donut release.

If we're talking about unfairly forgotten bands that are actually available, I'd throw in the group from SST Records, Slovenly. I keep telling myself I need to give them another listen. It would also be great to revisit some Saccharine Trust material.

Does anyone happen to know what happened with Sylvia Juncos? One major lost album of hers is One thing + Nature.

Yeah, basically two tracks running about 10-15 minutes each that consist entirely of vocals and keys.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they went with some kind of melodic ambient black metal vibe...
I’ve listened to Lugburz, Minas Morgul, Dol Guldur, and Stronghold, and they’re all top-tier. The first Lugburz album feels a little unpolished in the performance department, but man, it’s still killer.

Yeah, man, I figured it was mostly folk, which is why I haven't even picked it up yet. 😁

I'm just wondering—if hating someone ends up hurting you more than them, does seeking revenge count as part of that hatred?
Look, I know people who feel genuinely happy after getting back at someone they despise. They don't feel like they've done themselves any damage. So, where does that leave us?

😁 😁

Keyword: FEEL

They only *feel* that way. They haven't realized it yet; they aren't conscious of the cost.

Of course, there’s a distinction between defending yourself—like if someone hits you and you hit back—and carrying a constant, simmering grudge. As Aeneas points out, holding onto that resentment is just stockpiling negative energy, and that eventually poisons your whole system.
You can't truly live your life to the fullest if you're constantly stuck in a negative headspace.

I’ve actually written a bit about this over on my Religion blog regarding Christian values and why forgiving your enemies is so vital...

What if we started a thread to actually break down all these different emotions and where they stem from? 😉 😁

I can only speak from what I’ve personally gone through.
For me, aggression and hatred aren't even in the same ballpark. Aggression is this sudden, fiery burst—it might hit you in waves, but it’s intense and sharp.
Hatred, though? That’s a slow, suffocating burn. It’s a long, heavy weight that eventually just drains you until you realize there’s no point in carrying it anymore.

I can get pissed off at someone and be totally aggressive about it. I might let them have it, too. But that doesn't mean I’m going to hate them. There’s really no reason to keep feeding that kind of darkness inside me.

Take a game, for example. Say a referee makes a terrible, unfair call against your favorite team. Of course, you’re going to lose it. You might yell at the screen, vent your frustrations, or maybe even get into a heated argument with a rival fan in the stands.
But you aren't going to spend the rest of your life hating that ref.

(Though, admittedly, I don't always act that composed myself!) 😁

So, why do some people choose to nurture that toxic weed called hatred?

Is it because they can't process their own pain or sense of loss? Is it an inability to face a harsh reality?

Whenever the word "hatred" comes up, my mind goes straight to war and its casualties. I think about all the people living in a cycle of resentment because of the trauma and devastation left behind by conflict. 😢

P.S. I used to think fear was the true opposite of love.

I've been hunting for that Tom Waits guy for years and never managed to track him down...
To be fair, I haven't really looked outside my own circle either.

A buddy of mine probably has everything that came out on CD. I'll go take a look.

I’m not really a fan of U2, but 'I'll Love you ) Till The end of The World i Adversary' is one of those tracks I could listen to for days on end...

Hmm, a little fairy tale, huh? Interesting... 😎

But how are we actually supposed to live a relatively normal life while dealing with that aggressive impulse?

And do we really have to take things to such an extreme?

Look, there's internal tension—which is basically just fuel for energy—and that psychological "current" is always there. But I still believe that how a person processes things internally matters most; that’s what determines which direction they eventually channel all that energy.

Does that make sense? 😕 🙄 😕

I don't have much else to say after Aeneas 🙂 👍

The only thing is, Aragorn, is it worth crossing someone off the list...? 😕

They definitely shouldn't be written off or labeled as "beyond saving." You've gotta keep a little hope alive for them, but at the same time, you need to step back and just let them follow their own path.
To be honest, I’ve had some informal chats over the last few years with a couple of friends who really know their stuff, and they gave me the impression that the Association is actively pushing against any kind of open competition for concessions. Apparently, when the City tried to open things up to more players once before, the Association started making threats left and right, which pretty much shut the whole thing down. Of course, this is all just hearsay, so I’m using this thread to see if anyone has actual intel from other sources. I want to figure out if there’s a genuine legal barrier preventing competition, or if this is mostly just a backroom deal between the Association and the City.

In my opinion, the City needs to step up here and actually encourage some healthy competition. If I were calling the shots, I’d set specific requirements for entry, but honestly, for a major hub like Chicago, it would be great to have at least five to ten different private taxi companies operating.

From a purely legal standpoint, I’m still curious about the fine print regarding how these concessions are issued and how the Association manages to bully the City into meeting its demands. I’m heading to America for my annual vacation soon, so I might actually look into it firsthand while I'm there. We can pick this conversation back up after that.

Fashion - Fabriquie. It’s basically how little Djolkica imagines the New Romantics would sound if they were based in Germany... Really solid stuff. Killer vibes...

It’s always way easier to ask questions than to provide answers. Nobody demands proof for a question, and let's be honest, most questions have more than one right answer anyway.

Questions and answers are just two sides of the same coin. 😉
The moment you pose a question, the answer is already lurking somewhere nearby.

Trying to explain an "ideal being" would probably just boil down to that tired, overused cliché about the id, ego, and superego—you know, the backbone of psychodynamic approaches to neuroses. So, if we're following that route, we'd likely need to look for a solution within a psychodynamic (psychotherapeutic) framework, basically searching for a "cure."

Do you think Freudian psychoanalysis is the only thing that matters here, or is there room for other perspectives too?

Does anyone actually know what the hell we're even talking about at the end of this thread?

😁 😁

Regarding what you perceive as giving up, 😉

We don't need to stick to a rigid structure; I'm open to any ideas...🙂

Is it actually okay to still have feelings for someone who played you on purpose?

And is it alright to hate them? Wouldn't it be easier to just ignore them? What does hatred really achieve besides draining your energy for no reason? Not to mention how much unnecessary drama hating brings along, making everything even more complicated... honestly, you just need to write that person off and move on with your life.
