Thoughts on Old?

Honestly, this movie feels a lot like Hekman's 'Extreme Measures'—except here, the mystery revolves around the beach instead.

The Horse: Man, this guy's riding me way too hard—I'm gonna go grab some hot dogs. I've had enough... we aren't just some random animals you can ride whenever you feel like it.

The script for the first movie worked because the blind guy knew his home inside and out, and he was dealing with amateur burglars. In this one, he’s up against a squad of former special forces guys that even Rambo would struggle with, plus the final showdown happens in territory he doesn't know; in any realistic scenario, he and the dog would have been taken out instantly. That’s really all I can say: the logic here is full of holes. To me, the sequel feels like an insult to the original. You just shouldn't mess with a classic like that.

The Neighbor from 2017 is more of a drama; I haven't checked that one out since it doesn't really fit what we're discussing here:

So, there's this drug dealer looking to retire next door to a guy who turns out to be a pretty dangerous criminal keeping victims locked up in cages in his basement... It's a solid, unsettling thriller with some horror elements thrown in, probably an 8/10 for me.

It’s a failed hybrid of Saw / Hostel set in some quasi-prison in Moscow, featuring a silly script paired with an even sillier ending; the first half drags on, and the kill scenes just don't feel convincing enough, so I'd give it a 5/10. While someone might actually enjoy this, there are far too many flaws, and given the subject matter, they really could have done much better.

Just because someone isn't making eye contact doesn't mean they lack confidence—could be something else entirely...
