Spotting some major inconsistencies here in Feedback & Suggestions ·
If the owner of a site like Reddit wants to mandate that everyone writes in yellow font or wears a tiny hat in their profile picture, that’s their call—users can either play along or take their business elsewhere.

Regardless of what you just laid out, the reality is that posts can be nuked for any reason at all, and accounts can get banned without so much as a heads-up; everything else is basically just a matter of discretion. If someone actually wants to try filing a private lawsuit over deleted posts or a ban, well, good luck with that—I don't think anyone has ever successfully set a precedent like that.

The idea that someone suffered actual damages just because they were told this is a private forum is, quite frankly, hilarious.

restlesssailor88 said:Look, I’m obviously not going to go around handing out infractions just because that’s how the mods do things—I’m not built like that. But let’s be real: some people absolutely earn them through their own behavior.

Even within this one statement, you kind of trip over your own feet. We can't exactly take your word for it, right? It feels like a classic "they're doing it wrong, but I'd do it better" kind of spin, which is really just a jab at the moderation team. Plus, there's the sheer math of it: if you have X times more users than moderators, you'd be collecting penalties faster than you could eat a bag of chips.

And another thing—how on earth would you stop someone from playing the "mod gives user a strike, user immediately retaliates with a strike against the mod" game? It sounds great in theory, but in practice, it's totally impossible to pull off.

Comparing some guy arguing with someone on an internet forum to a terrorist is just 😵 🤦

Did you actually read that I didn't write that part first? I was just responding to a post that drew that awful parallel in the first place. Or did you just skip over what I quoted—the first paragraph of my post and all that?

neonfox12 said:I might be stepping out of line here, but I simply can't stay silent on this matter. I find the comments made by our fellow forum member briskjackal5 to be incredibly malicious. It feels on par with those who would defend letting undocumented immigrants cross into America even if they posed a potential terrorist threat. Honestly, I’d go so far as to say this is bordering on hate speech. It seems quite possible that this stems from a sense of personal animosity. As the saying goes, a barking dog doesn't hurt the village.

Regarding his specific phrasing: "To ide obratno.
They shouldn't be the ones searching for a 'permanent justification' for anything. Not now, and not ever. A parole hearing is a permanent solution." I think we can apply the following analogy to his logic --> "That works both ways. Judges shouldn't be required to hunt for reasons to grant someone parole. Not now, and not ever. Prison is a permanent solution."

To put it more broadly, you could draw similar parallels with mental health facilities, juvenile detention centers, or other rehabilitation institutions. I am intentionally choosing examples involving individuals considered "worse" than ZMM. I have to say, I am genuinely shocked that after five years, someone hasn't earned a second chance. I could understand if he had already squandered such an opportunity, but from what I gather, he hasn't. Look, it's not like he murdered someone or robbed a bank; he was simply socially maladapted when interacting with others. Does a mistake like that really warrant being cast out from society for more than five years? I am appealing to everyone's sense of reason.

Pardon the intrusion, and best regards to all.

There’s a logical flaw in your comparison. For the sake of argument, let’s assume partial bans are justified. If they are, there’s a reason—namely, someone caused trouble on the PDF. The mods have a responsibility to review whether a ban should be lifted, but they aren't obligated to just wipe the slate clean.

A real comparison would be someone who actually committed acts of terrorism claiming they’ve repented just so they could be allowed back into America. In this case, we aren't guessing whether someone caused issues on the PDF—we already know they did.
Trolls and people like them on Zillow and Reddit in Lonely Hearts ·
graniteviper82 said:Well, here I am again.
I know, I know—I said I was done posting on this Reddit forever, and honestly, I haven't been since.
I seriously doubt I'll ever say anything else here besides this...

Someone actually asked me to call out a few people who spend their time harassing others—people who clearly need mental health intervention.
The same applies to those doing the harassing; they should probably report themselves to the police.
Or just report everyone involved, really.

Even though I barely post—and unlike some people, I don't bother with double or even triple accounts on this Reddit—it's pretty obvious there's an overwhelming amount of paranoid trolls and unstable types lurking around here.

Every now and then I'll drop a comment, or maybe I'll get hit with some nonsense myself.
(Just trying to communicate, you know? There are actually decent people here who understand how normal conversation works.)
But lately, I keep running into ABSOLUTELY BIZARRE PEOPLE.

Everything is going totally fine, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, I'm being accused of being some troll with a hundred different handles, supposedly attacking some other user—all because I tried to have a civil conversation with them? Through "investigation" and whatever other nonsense?

Seriously, I REALLY do not have the time for this stupidity.
And I highly doubt any other NORMAL people here have the patience for it either.
I don't see the point!
It isn't funny, it isn't productive, it's just pointless.
It is ABNORMAL, HARMFUL, and frankly, SICK.

I'm asking the admins and moderators to actually do their jobs and look into these specific users:

I want to draw attention to this older thread:

Beyond that, these users—or the trolls they hide behind—probably need actual PSYCHOLOGICAL or psychiatric help!

I reached out to “Nakamai” regarding some photos/programming stuff—I can't even remember exactly what she said... if she said anything at all—after we exchanged a few normal messages. She accused me of being a troll or using an alt account or something?!
Potentially linked to her is “ninisky”.

Lastly, “Tajana95” is also claiming I have a hundred different usernames on this Reddit.
She mentioned someone named “phonk” was harassing her, along with several other handles I don't even recognize.

Look, I don't have multiple accounts because I'm not some kid wasting my life on Zillow.
I have zero interest in making them.
And I certainly don't find joy in playing the FOOL, which seems to be something others find hilarious—wasting their own precious time and everyone else's on pure STUPIDITY.

I'm asking the admins and moderators to step up and deal with the unprecedented amount of idiocy happening on this Reddit.

This thread doesn't belong in the US section, and we don't allow trolling or armchair diagnoses here. Feel free to move this over to the Off-Topic board.

Taylor Diaz2 said:Sure, maybe the site owner is part of the Russian mob too. 🤣

So, does it really not matter to you guys whose server you're using? Even if it were run by the mob? That’s an interesting way to look at things. I'll definitely keep that in mind before I decide whether or not to send any private messages. 😁

Do you seriously not understand how web hosting works? These companies have servers scattered all over the globe. Do you honestly believe an email provider keeps every single one of its servers within its own borders?

restlesscanyon52 said:Just encrypt your message and stop worrying about it. Forum admins are about as good at decrypting stuff as Mara is at picking a winning lottery number. ☕

How exactly am I supposed to encrypt a message through a platform that doesn't even support encryption? There is a workaround, sure, but that requires the recipient to have a PGP key ready to go.

Taylor Diaz2 said:It’s going to be pretty hard for anyone to take this place seriously as a legitimate forum if the servers are hosted in Zimbabwe and the admins are somehow tied to the Russian mob. 😁

Honestly, in an era where hosting is scattered all over the globe, does it really matter if the server is physically located in Zimbabwe? Besides, how can you be so sure that any admin isn't secretly part of the Russian mafia? 🍿

silentgull14 said:I don't want to start a whole new thread about this...

I just got a private message from someone I don't even know—and they have a pretty unsettling username, Executioner
The message starts out something like this: Dear silentgull14...

Honestly, I have no clue why on earth anyone would be interested in me, but even if they think my posts are "interesting," I am absolutely not looking to get into a situation where I have to explain to my husband why some guy named Executioner is sliding into my DMs—especially since I haven't given him any reason to reach out.
Thanks, but no thanks.

Anyway, I'm reporting this just to be safe...

Are you reporting them just because someone messaged you on the forum? 😬
John Newman34 said:There’s really no need to make this about me; that wasn't the point of the discussion. It’s funny how you realized my logic actually made sense, so you decided to pivot to a counterattack instead. 🙏
All this does is prove how biased you guys are... basically, it matters more who starts the thread about someone breaking the rules than the fact that the rules were actually broken in the first place.

It’s definitely important to provide some context here—showing that you just can't stand the LGBT crowd changes the whole perspective on your complaints about the avatar. Besides, rustydrifter10 already gave her take on the controversial avatar right here, not via a link:

by Nick
I honestly think you should start by cleaning up your own backyard before pointing fingers, because:

a) you called the LGBT community "sissies"
b) you openly declared yourself a homophobe, in your own words
c) you described the LGBT community as having "incorrect" sexual orientations
d) you referred to women as "chickens" and told them to get back in the kitchen
e) you later tried to backtrack by calling the LGBT community a "special bulletproof group"

And don't even get me started on your constant conspiracy theories about the "gay lobby" and "dark forces."

So, yeah, when responding to this, Admin really ought to take points a through e into account. It’s worth looking into why John Newman34 was banned, because his blatant prejudice against the LGBT community is impossible to miss.

quietrider3 said:This isn't just my personal opinion. Let's just run a poll on the forum to see how many people actually mind his avatar. If it's less than a third of the community, then we're good—and I’m pretty sure that’ll be the case.

Maybe we should hold a national referendum instead? And while we're at it, let's actually define "hate speech," because it seems like you're a bit lost when it comes to the terminology.

You've been banned for using two different accounts to post in the same threads. As for the avatar issue, Alice can clear that up for you.🙂

Jason Sullivan87 said:What do you mean "low-class style"? Matthew Anderson is just playing dumb like you are right now. We aren't talking about my way of speaking here; we’re talking about one of the moderators having an offensive avatar. So, what's being done about it?

Actually, I'm not playing dumb—I honestly thought he had turned his post into an image and was searching through the threads for it. Now that we've established the facts, you can have the answers you're looking for.

a) Making armchair diagnoses isn't allowed on this forum because, frankly, it almost always turns into trolling. Beyond that, claiming "homosexuality is a disorder" without any actual substance is just pure provocation. It always ends in massive flame wars on the boards, so we banned those topics for that exact reason.

b) The current staff doesn't see anything wrong with his avatar. If the admins decide otherwise, they'll tell him to take it down.

c) On the flip side, your approach is definitely problematic. As long as you keep posting on this forum trying to hand out fake diagnoses, you're going to keep getting warnings. You're clearly just here to get under our skin.

Brenda Davis said:Dear moderators, I’ve been penalized twice now. Honestly, blame it on my lack of tech-savviness—it’s a pretty common struggle for those of us in the older crowd. There’s just one specific topic I wanted to get the community's take on. What happened was, I tried posting the same thread four different times because I kept wanting to make edits, which ended up being logged here as entirely new posts. That’s why I got flagged. On Facebook, you can just go back and tweak an existing post, but here, trying to edit feels like starting over, and apparently, that’s against the rules. Out of those four attempts, two were deleted and two were locked. Since I can't really use the old ones, I wanted to ask: now that my penalty has expired, am I allowed to start the topic again? I promise I won't make the mistake of trying to "edit" anything this time to avoid duplicating threads and getting hit with more penalties.

The threads were actually locked because they violated the subforum rule against starting topics with just a single sentence; you need a decent amount of introductory context. After I gave you the first warning, I explained exactly which rule was being broken.

You're welcome to start a new thread, just follow the community guidelines and write a meaningful introduction. It doesn't have to be a novel, but give us something to work with.

hiddenseal3 said:Look, the core issue here is that you have a group of well-meaning community members who generally tolerate a bit of casual, unfiltered language among themselves—it's how they've communicated on countless public and private chats for ages. Then, you have these malicious trolls who just have too much time on their hands; they jump in specifically to insult people, start flame wars, or just be nuisances to the regulars, and the good folks don't exactly have a way to kick them out from wherever they're lurking.

If we started listing names, everyone would just end up pointing at the exact same people. 😉

The OP is asking for an open PDF that anyone can access. You and Aaron Jones87 seem to be talking about one specific clique of users. 🙂

Oh, come on. We’re talking about a forum where you should be able to say whatever you want to whoever you want, yet you’re playing dumb and acting like there’s censorship happening? 🤦

Maria Johnson said:Fine, since you think you're so right... how much do you actually know about our specific situation and how things have hit rock bottom? Given that I'm on a blacklist for "quasi-trolling"—which people constantly mistake for me just being blunt—it doesn't matter. I only hang out in the random and off-topic sections because everywhere else, I get picked on regardless of what I write. It feels like I'm under constant surveillance.

Why would I need to be an expert on it? The person who started this thread is asking for a new Democratic Party thread where everyone can participate. I generally agree with that idea; I'm simply sharing my experience from participating in similar Democratic Party threads before.

The part about trolls wasn't directed at you—I was just saying that many people completely ignore those types of Democratic Party threads because they don't care about breaking things down, whereas trolling is their main interest on their usual threads.

Emily Roberts48 said:Look, there’s no rule against insulting someone's religion or nationality... so Fibonacci, I really don't think I need to spell this out for you.😉

Those guidelines are incredibly vague. Honestly, it feels like they're just leaning heavily on "common sense" to cover their tracks.

Maria Johnson said:Alright Sophia Thomas7, why do you even care anyway? You should probably focus on keeping things orderly in your own neck of the woods since you clearly have plenty to do.🙂

The second a thread says "only people who agree should reply," I'm staying silent. Oh wait, actually I won't—because it's vital to hear both sides of the argument.

Other than that, my stance is pretty simple: you should be allowed to call a fool a fool. On one of the old message boards I used to hang out on, we had this "Arena" section. It wasn't about how many posts you made, but rather a dedicated space where all the off-topic arguments and insults were moved. That way, everyone could vent without derailing the main threads. The issue with those types of sub-forums was that people would eventually just skip them entirely and post right back in the main thread, because they didn't actually want to debate—they just wanted to type.

If you're trolling, you aren't looking for a specific sub-forum where trolling is expected; if you do that, you lose the whole point. My $0.02
