We really shouldn't lock this thread just because he’s dealing with some personal drama and letting his life spiral a bit. If we started locking every topic like that, we'd never get anything done—and frankly, that's just not how we operate here.

Regarding the posts my colleagues flagged for direct insults—we aren't removing those either, because there's simply no ground to stand on. Look, you can't just start a thread and say, "Hey, feel free to insult me," and then act surprised when someone does. Forum rules still apply regardless of whether you're inviting the abuse or not; you don't get to unilaterally decide that the rules don't apply to your own thread. If we let every user decide when they'll or won't tolerate insults, we'd basically be throwing our entire rulebook out the window.

Proposal denied.

From my experience dealing with the 1080, you can pretty much forget about anything labeled "available for order." 😬 Especially when you're reading stuff from the big media outlets.

Thanks everyone, and a huge shoutout to crimsonstag84 for pointing out that detail about the monitor. 🙂

Jeffrey Allen92 said:then there's really no point in going for 8k, especially without any discs... you might as well just go for 4k with the processor

Look, it says up to 8k, and it also mentions 'the price could even fall below the budget.' I didn't clarify earlier, but the monitor is included in that price.

Jeffrey Allen92 said:1) A high-end i7 paired with something like a GTX 1070 if he just wants to play the classics.

2) Or maybe go big with a dual Xeon + GTX 1060 setup (that card should match his monitor's resolution perfectly, and those two Xeons would be great for the future) if he really wants to go all out.

Honestly, he doesn't need an i7, and he definitely doesn't need dual Xeons. Thanks for trying, though.

Hey everyone, I could use some help here. A buddy of mine is looking for a gaming rig. He needs everything except for the drives, mouse, keyboard, and headset.

For the monitor, he's looking at a Dell UltraSharp U2414H 24-Inch, and for the CPU/GPU combo, we're thinking an Intel + NVIDIA setup.

Since I noticed Micro Center carries that monitor, maybe you could put a build together through them? Honestly, any shop is fine, just please, for the love of god, steer clear of Best Buy. We don't mind if it comes in under budget; the main goal is running World of Warcraft on high settings (it gets pretty demanding during raids) along with the occasional other game.

I don't think you quite grasp how the appeals process actually works here. You got an explanation from me and didn't like it. You got a ruling from the league office regarding the Lakers and you aren't accepting that either.

Do you honestly believe you can just keep appealing every single decision until you get what you want? 🙂

We have zero intention of changing your status, and we aren't going to go out on a limb to request a partial reduction for you. So, you're stuck with the two years you asked for. 🙂

Thanks for checking in, but if you're planning on keeping this up, please just stop.

What I’m trying to say is that beyond the explanation you've already received, you aren't getting any more from me.

So, feel free to go ahead and request a two-year ban if that's what it takes.

You already got an explanation from Michelle Phillips54 and me.

If the admin feels like it, they can just ban you from posting for two years.

Stupid threads? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Look, since you decided to ignore the moderator warning and kept going, you’ve been hit with 100 points and a three-day ban. Next time you decide to spam threads that violate the rules—and frankly, are just plain moronic—you're looking at a permanent ban. And yeah, these are the kinds of stupid threads we're talking about:

Zayn said:A textbook example of Madonna: after her reputation took a massive hit following that explicit video leak and a string of failed relationships, she actually has the nerve to flaunt herself with some young guy who clearly has no idea what kind of mess he's gotten himself into. She might still be able to cash in, but her shelf life is running out fast (honestly, it should have run out a long time ago). What do you guys think—is she still hot, or is she just plain gross now?

Michelle Evans said:That kind of stuff is only allowed on two specific 18+ subforums reserved for registered members. One is over in Men's Corner, and the other is part of Lies. I’m not entirely sure how they handle things over at Lies, but on MK, people frequently upload nude photos via Imgur within threads specifically meant for them. It’s highly likely Imgur is flagging the content on one or both of those boards.

We don't really have images like that on Lies or Lies 18, except for maybe a tiny handful. 😁

A Monster Calls official International teaser trailer

Patrick Ness's Novel is hitting theaters this fall under the direction of J. A. Bayona (who did a killer job with Impossible with Ewan McGregor). It’s about a boy and a creature voiced by Liam Neeson. We've also got Sigourney Weaver and Felicity Jones joining the cast.

Between this and BFG, it's shaping up to be a pretty uplifting year. 🙂

If anyone happens to know the song from the trailer, I'd really appreciate the help. 🍿

neongull93 said:Maybe we could keep the rule on there, but instead of making it a punishable offense or a strict requirement just to start a thread, let's frame it as something that’s just encouraged. It works better as a "nice to have" rather than a mandatory hurdle.
Just because a rule has been sitting there for years doesn't mean it actually means anything.

Look, we aren't going to see eye to eye on this one. The rule exists because we genuinely believe it’s necessary, and frankly, we aren't interested in letting anyone bend it.

neongull93 said:Honestly, I feel like this place is so obsessed with policing the rules that it ends up suffocating any actual conversation that doesn't perfectly align with what the mods or the majority think.

Since the rules on Reddit aren't exactly enforced with an iron fist—there's a ton of wiggle room around here—we just can't get behind that.

Look, I think we can all agree that we’re fundamentally at odds regarding the rules here. If the mods decide this thread needs to be nuked, then so be it—it'll be gone.

neongull93 said:Look, it doesn't really matter what the mods over at the subreddit think. It’s about the entire mod team, the people hanging out in that specific sub, and honestly, everyone on the whole forum.

Since PDFs are such a specific beast, the only opinions that actually matter regarding their formatting rules come from the people who spend their days editing them. This isn't some new thing, either—it’s been a standard rule for over five years now, dating back to previous versions. There’s clearly a good reason why everyone is in agreement that following it is absolutely necessary.

Look, we aren't about to go changing the rules just because some other mod or user decides they don't like them. Unless the owner steps in and gives us an actual order to change things, the rules stay put. Besides, this isn't some draconian decree; it literally just says we expect a thread to have a few sentences—you know, a proper intro with a beginning, middle, and end, rather than just some low-effort one-liner. Honestly, I don't see how removing this would do anything to improve the quality of our PDFov content.

neongull93 said:So, what you're telling me is that there isn't a single topic on that site where you can just get straight to the point without being forced to churn out at least six sentences per post? Seriously?

We’ve been locking threads that only have one or two sentences for ages now—it feels like we're just shutting things down without even giving them a second thought. Every once in a while, a topic actually manages to gain some traction and turns into a multi-page discussion, but even then, they usually get locked the moment we notice them.

neongull93 said:I’m just asking because it seems like whenever anyone complains about a ban, they just get handed some excuse and the ban sticks.
The rules need an overhaul, and I honestly don't get why there's even a rule against commenting on moderator decisions.
The real issue here is the moderation team itself—it feels like they’re totally resistant to change and can't see when things aren't working properly.

1. You got banned because you broke the PDFov rules, which aren't just tucked away in the fine print; they're literally bolded and enlarged for emphasis.
2. You think the rules should change to "improve" the PDFov, but none of the moderators here actually agree with you.

To wrap this up: The moderators aren't looking for changes because we believe the current rules are doing their job. Our reasoning is pretty simple: we implemented these rules specifically because the way threads were running before them was a total mess.

Trailer

Trailer release date: June 2016 Genre: horror
Genre: Horror, Thriller
Thriller Director: Nicolas Winding Refn
Refn Writers: Nicolas Winding Refn (story), Nicolas Winding Refn (screenplay)
Stars: Elle Fanning, Jenna Malone, Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks

Jesse, an aspiring model, moves to Los Angeles, where her vitality and youth are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will use any means to get what she has.

I still absolutely love Drive / Valhalla Rising / Bronson, though I definitely have some mixed feelings about Only God Forgives. Really hoping this one makes up for OGF. 😬

edit: Can I actually find out why, or do I need to file a formal petition just to get an answer? I’m not sure how things work in your neck of the woods, but where I’m from, you usually lay it out clearly—what happened, how, and why. Honestly, I think that’s how moderators should handle things.

To put it bluntly, we don't feel like you've changed at all. Your rhetoric is exactly the same, and that's the consensus among the other mods who weighed in on the internal thread about removing your privileges. In fact, one of the main reasons was this post, where you mentioned you still don't agree with the warnings you received.

Since the moderation team needs to be in agreement to revoke privileges, and we just can't reach a consensus right now—nothing is being changed.

Larry Ortiz5 said:Same here. That's exactly how it looks to me too.

I just took a look because I was starting to get a little paranoid, and yeah, it’s a bit higher than I expected. It feels like every single screw is coming loose at the same time. How do I actually fix this?

William Richardson12 said:I think my roommate actually has that exact case. My only real gripe is the fan mounting setup—it's super rigid. Even though you can physically fit three 120mm or 140mm fans at the top, the screw holes are positioned so poorly that you just can't actually secure them. It’s pretty frustrating.

So, looking at this, there are only physical mounting holes for two fans. Just one quick question: the front of the case has space for two fans, but the thing comes with three pre-installed by default—two on top and one in the front. If I buy an extra one, will I actually get the same setup? I could also potentially add one to the bottom and one to the side panel.
