I honestly don't get how anyone can sit through this
They basically just cast some actress who looks like she walked straight out of an adult film just to bait people into watching while everything else about it is absolute garbage...
I honestly feel like PTSD gets pushed way too hard in the media lately
My hometown was under siege for three years, while I spent three years living as a refugee
And if you ask me, the people who actually stayed and fought were more mentally stable than those of us stuck in refugee camps😁
What I’m getting at is that everyone processes things differently... take that tragedy back in San Francisco... until just yesterday, we used to laugh off tragedies happening in the West, thinking something like that could never happen here... it's all about alienation—that feeling of being totally disconnected from society... driven by capitalism and the media machine
What a coincidence... for me, it feels like every eighth movie I sit down to watch turned out to be an Oscar winner or at least landed a Best Picture nomination.
So, yeah—I actually know my way around this subject matter quite well😁—at least when it comes to the Best Picture category... the other categories aren't really my thing.
If you want to talk about the absolute worst Oscar winner, it’s hands down Tom Jones. Now, the movie itself isn't terrible—it's probably better than most of the junk coming out these days...
I was thinking about Invasion from '78... totally blanked on the fact that it was actually the third remake 😁 there are still plenty of solid remakes out there—names are slipping my mind... say, King Kong is a good one, both that version from the seventies and this recent one
When it comes to Raimi, I’ll admit I only really dig his more low-key stuff—take Ben-Hur, for instance. + The Thing
I think there might be another two or three floating around in my head—I just can't pull them to the surface right now... let's say Invasions of the Body Snatchers.
The Czech film Battery versus the American movie Quiet, Hush, Sweet Charlotte
I’ve been working my way through both over the last couple of days
Battery is about 102 minutes long—I actually had to split it into two 50-minute chunks because it was just dragging so much whereas I flew through Charlotte—which runs about 132 minutes—in one single sitting, even though I really should have been sleeping
So, my takeaway? A good movie is something you can actually sit through but a bad movie is just tedious, impossible to finish, and feels like an eternity even if it's only 70 minutes—kind of like watching LIVE FEED
Blaneta Bur, honestly... Aelita—if you’re into silent films, then go for it, but otherwise, it’s a total classic. Kin dza dza... I mean, okay, but I feel like it might be a bit too out there for most Americans to wrap their heads around.😁 I haven't checked out the 1983 version of War of the worlds yet, but people keep telling me it's great. They say Tomorrow I'll Wake up and Scald Myself with Teo is excellent, though I haven't sat down to watch it. I still haven't seen Konec srpna v Hotelu Ozon either. Fantastic Planet is an absolute masterpiece of animation.
Letters from a Dead Man is top-tier Sexmission is great It’s hard being a god—truly excellent stuff Icarus XP1 is solid Andromeda Nebula was just okay Ozone Hotel was alright, nothing special
