Mini Me said:And this guy isn't even driving a car—he’s on a motorcycle with his movies shoved into some shoulder bag.
I’ve borrowed movies from them maybe thirty times or so and I have never run into any issues.
Just thought you should know.

What I actually meant was the people I see every single day leaving rented tapes in the back of their cars... just sitting there where the sun can bake the plastic for hours on end...😁 🙂 and yeah, even with DVDs—the fine print says to keep blank media out of direct sunlight...🙂
Should I probably mention that I don't even bother playing those kinds of tapes or DVDs at my place? I don't know how things work where you guys are.🙏

Someone was bringing up the Himalayas earlier... and honestly, they hit the nail on the head regarding how video rental stores operate—with those bottom-tier employees who couldn't tell the difference between *8 ½* and some absolute garbage like *9 1/2 Weeks*... the kind of stuff those Body Chemistry 4 types try to pass off as a solid thriller, or what they’ll claim is phenomenal sci-fi when it comes to a movie like Within the Rock... and even if you manage to navigate all those hurdles of being ripped off or handed some bootleg pirate copy... you finally get home, pop the player in, and ruin your night because you're stuck cleaning some sticky residue off the disc—wasting two hours of your life fixing what you just
😁
If you bring that up at the club, they'll just stare at you blankly before snatching your cash, refusing to even swap out a damaged tape for a free one since "it's not their problem"...
Take renting Rosemary's Baby on DVD—they'll hand you the single disc with the movie and nothing else, then have the nerve to demand extra cash just to get the second disc with the special features.

Then there's the person complaining about lagging subtitles... look, I'd rather watch a movie with no subtitles at all than deal with those brain-dead translations (like calling Dark Water = Evil 🙂 )
concocted by people who clearly can't read... not to mention the blatant grammatical disasters on those "official" tapes.

The shipping for 13 movies between two cities is actually phenomenal $2.75 and it shows up within two days...

I heard someone whining about slow connections... saying their internet is too sluggish... it's the same old song from the people who used to hoard 1,000 vinyl records back when everyone was complaining about the arrival of obsolete audio cassettes 🙂—those are the people trying to hold back progress

👋
The future isn't about trekking down to a video store, especially since they won't even be opening locations that deliver movies right to your doorstep...
The future is downloading movies legally from a legitimate server—a service that will eventually serve as nothing more than a monument to the prehistoric era known as the video store, where you had to waste an hour just wandering the aisles trying to find something worth watching...

Long live the future... 🙂

😁 As long as the video store owners don't start complaining,

they claim business is actually booming 😁😁 😁

🙂 This guy is either working a full-time job or he owns some local video rental shop

But honestly, how many times have I trekked down to the store, grabbed a tape, gotten all the way home, and then realized it’s a total dud? Either the thing is trashed beyond repair, or someone recorded it in LP and my player only handles SP—so there's no middle ground, just a complete mess. Someone clearly botched the recording and tried to patch it together with some cheap Scotch tape or whatever, leaving me to deal with dirty heads, tangled tape, and all that nonsense... yeah, it's a headache

I guess if you're out of shape and people are constantly riding you 😁 👋 about losing weight
well, thanks, but no thanks 😳
How do I get rid of folliculitis? in Health ·
Angela Hill said:Folliculitis is basically just an inflammation of the hair follicle—usually happens when a hair gets trapped under the skin after shaving.
Something like that. 😁

But it’s actually a fungal infection 🙄

And honestly, there's zero chance that stuff under my arm is folliculitis—I don't even touch hair gels or any of those styling products.

Once I head to the dermatologist in a few days, I'll be sure to ask about that cocktail formula...
thanks

Sure, buddy, keep on binge-watching those Hollywood blockbusters on your DVDs and VHS tapes—you know, the ones that spent five hours baking in the backseat of a car under the blistering summer sun before you even rented them. 🙂

🙄
I went through a whole year—literally a full twelve months—trying to grow my hair out, just letting it go
But once I finally threw in the towel and got a haircut, things went south. Now, right at the nape of my neck where the hairline meets the neck, I’m dealing with these constant red bumps that pop up and disappear endlessly. I've seen a few dermatologists, and they're all saying it's some kind of fungal infection hitting the follicles... and honestly, nothing seems to touch it. I've tried everything from topical steroid creams to iodine treatments, various sprays, and washing with different medicated shampoos...

Has anyone else ever dealt with this kind of breakout 😢

Seriously though... why on earth would anyone drop that kind of cash just to rent some DVDs or old VHS tapes? It’s honestly a waste. You can find pretty much everything you want if you actually put in a little effort—just spend some time digging through the right forums and you'll snag it for half the price. Plus, you get to watch whatever you feel like without all those annoying restrictions. I need to go check some stuff out and then I've gotta be back by 9 PM tonight. 🙏

quietdriver3 said:subtitles exist

you know exactly what I meant

I’ve sat through a ton of Asian cinema—and honestly, most of it is phenomenal
but just... everything in the world of anime I've watched so far has been way too confusing for me 😳

it's just not my thing... maybe I'll give it another shot 👋 someday

quietdriver3 said:How could you possibly forget Akira? 😕

It’s pretty simple, really—
I don't know any Japanese
I can't keep any of the names straight
And I just can't seem to connect with the characters...

I'm not saying they're bad, per se... it's just not my thing.😢
Anime Recommendations? in Movies ·
Honestly, I find anime pretty easy to forget—it’s hard for me to really wrap my head around them or make them stick
I've checked out a few things like
Akira
The Matrix
Metropolis
Vampire Hunter D
Princess Mononoke
and some other stuff

The Grudge (2004) in Movies ·
The movie feels almost like an omnibus
which is why the plot seems so disjointed

Great movie

Alexander Lee34 said:Is that that Dune planet or whatever? (That whole Dune setting is pretty gross)

I can't quite put my finger on the name of that old flick from the 60s—actually, wait, I think you guys were talking about that one movie where they land on some weird planet and get hunted by this ghost-like entity. There's an old man, his daughter, and a robot they built... and that creature attacking them is actually being controlled by the old guy, but then he loses his grip on it at the end, and I think he ends up killing him or something like that. 🤔

It's probably from 1957, if I recall correctly.
One of my all-time favorite sci-fi flicks.
Forgotten (2004) in Movies ·
I thought the movie was alright enough

maybe because I’d spent half the runtime thinking about just rewatching an episode of
The X-Files 🙏
