Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010)

An eight-hour documentary— 🙏 finally review all works. Four hours are just one continuous stretch, then the rest is made up of these split-up extras, extended interviews, location visits with the cast showing how everything looks today... it's all there. All the big players from the franchise (Wes Craven, Robert Shaye, Robert Englund, Renny Harlin... you name it) talk about the process, the concepts, the scripts, how they pulled things off, what went down on set, and how the public actually reacted to the series—it’s basically all in one spot. Johnny Depp and Patricia Arquette aren't there in person, but it honestly works without them (Depp shows up via some old footage from the movie). The best part—when they discuss how the second film was such a hit in Europe and show the American cover for the film. For any fans out there, this is essential viewing... just a must-watch.

The extras are pretty interesting, though maybe a bit mid—some cool fan stuff, some locations that haven't changed at all—but still, it wraps the whole thing up nicely. 10/10

Thinking about picking it up. It's about $19 on Amazon.
So, not a single positive word from any of you. It must be a disaster. Is it worth a trip to the theater or not? 🤔

Freddy Krueger will Return studio reportedly wants its next Nightmare in 3d by Jim Vejvoda May 4
The studio apparently wants the next installment of the nightmare to be in 3D.
by Jim Vejvoda
On May 4, 2010, Warner Bros. expressed such satisfaction with the success of its reboot of a Nightmare on Elm Street—which debuted at number one last weekend pulling in over $32 million—that they’ve already greenlit a follow-up.

"We haven't landed on a plot yet, but this stands as the biggest horror debut in the April-May window, proving the franchise still has plenty of life in it," Dan Fellman informed The Wrap. With a modest $27 million production budget, the reboot has already broken even.

And not only will Warners make a sequel, they plan on doing it in—get this—3D. Groundbreaking.

it was only a matter of time.

I’ve been scrolling through the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and to put it mildly, they absolutely trashed the movie.

Bryan Taylor9 said:Russell is 46 and Cate is 41... sure, they're bringing a fresh perspective to the story and we've got a top-tier director at the helm, but what kind of Robin Hood are we actually getting here?? Is this just some movie made for retirees?☕

So what if they're that old? 🙄
Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Clooney, Depp, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman, Clive Owen, Naomi Watts, Marisa Tomei, Ashley Judd—I’m not going to list every Hollywood star who hit forty and still carries themselves well. Some look better than others, sure. But I’d much rather watch Russell, whom you insist on calling a retiree, playing Robin Hood alongside the stunning Cate, than sit through the endless parade of twenty-somethings currently clogging up Hollywood. ☕
Besides, boundaries shift and years fly by. Fifty years isn't much, especially since you don't even hit retirement age until after sixty.
Asterix and Obelix in Movies ·
The old American dubbing for Asterix is easily the gold standard for all American versions. 🙂

I can't recall exactly which movie featured it, but I’ll never forget when Obelix tells a Roman to "chin up," and—bam!—his sandals are left behind. 🤣
If I'm not mistaken, it was Asterix vs Caesar.
Mercedes-AMG or IMDb? in Movies ·
Nicholas Morales48 said:What a throwback. 🙏
I saw the title and couldn't believe my eyes. Why bring up AMG now? That’s straight out of 2003. 😁
Nowadays, the real question is: IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes? 🙂
Personally, I stick to IMDb. It feels more substantial—classic design, easy to navigate, and straightforward.
Plus, it has zero competition. It remains the most visited site in its class by a landslide.

I really miss having dedicated local movie sites. I'm not even sure if any decent ones exist here. 🤷
How is the landscape in the US? Are there any good American film portals?

In my opinion, a universal American portal would be FilmAffinity
Die Hard franchise in Movies ·
Personally, I find the second one to be the weakest. For me, Uber takes the top spot, followed by the third installment featuring Jeremy "unreliable" Irons. The fourth entry is just pure nonsense. My only real gripe was with the villain; he's incredibly irritating and lacks any real character. In my opinion, he's even worse than that sidekick wannabe or the guy dancing on the plane.🙄

bluemarlin19 said:Give me a break. Has anyone actually stepped foot in a farmers market lately? If you think that stuff is "local," you’re dreaming. They’re selling the exact same produce you find at any grocery store, just at a premium. Americans have the same selection at their local supermarkets, except they aren't paying a fortune for a carton of soy milk or a loaf of whole grain bread at a place like a high-end urban market $3.25!!!!! Then there are all those "health food" spots inspired by people like Macron with their overpriced salads $13... honestly, everyone should be embarrassed, especially the people lining up to pay for it.

It's true. You'll run into plenty of vendors trying to pass off imported tomatoes as local for an insane markup—you only realize it once you actually taste them. But decent local food does exist if you know where to look. The best move is to stick with the same vendors you've used for years; then you can actually trust what you're buying.
Ultimately, prices are going up regardless. Between the economy and European Union regulations, most people will end up stuck buying processed goods from big-box retailers like Walmart, while the "wealthy" class gets to claim they're eating organic. 🙄

I’m genuinely curious how this plays out—two hours of Chandler’s trademark quasi-sarcastic, over-the-top nonsense 🙄
But fine, let's see what happens...

Raymond Davis73 said:I don't know what your diet looks like, but I won't touch meat raised that way. In the States, if you have a local butcher you actually know, you know where your meat comes from. We aren't yet drowning in all those "organic" labels that jack up the price by 300%.

As for seeds, I agree most are modified. Still, you have the choice to eat seasonally. Just head to a local farmers market; many American chefs would kill for the kind of seasonal produce selection we have right outside our doors.

I partially agree. Thank God we still have variety and quality, but I fear we're headed toward that same "it's organic" nonsense, especially once more regulations kick in. Compare market prices today to ten years ago. My mother used to come home from the market stunned by the prices—"Good grief, fresh cheese $8.25 is actually affordable! I remember when it was $10," etc.
But yeah, the documentary is excellent. 😛

Dammit, this trailer is miles better than the first one. I just hope they didn't burn through all the best scenes already.
I guess we'll see how the actual movie holds up.

The Goonies, Treasure Island (1990), Indiana Jones, The Good and the Bad... 👍

I dig most of these options, but these four are absolute gold.
Maybe I'd squeeze in Pirates, but I'm on the fence.
They dropped the teaser for the Robin Hood remake.

It’s just a teaser, but it looks promising. I’m actually digging the music. 👍

darkmaker94 said:Yeah, that’s the one. I just don't get how she ended up with a PayPal card alongside her checking account when their site clearly states:

All checking account holders are automatically issued a Maestro debit card

I’ve got a checking account with them too, and all I have is my Maestro.

Are you sure she actually has a checking account? Seems more likely she's just using a basic savings account.

Heh, asked her again. She misspoke; it's just a savings account.
But she can still shop online with it regardless, right? 🤷

edit:
Called my aunt over at Chase, and she said technically yes, but it's better to open a foreign currency account. A PayPal card linked to a foreign currency account works 99.9% of the time, whereas using a standard domestic checking account means some sites might reject it.

Quick question, even quicker answer 🙂.
My girlfriend just got her Visa Electron; I’m picking mine up this week.
She opened a checking account at Chase and received a Visa Electron card. On the back, next to the signature strip, there are four digits plus another three.
Is that the CVV code needed for online shopping??
Just to clarify, it's a standard checking account.
Thanks everyone

Anthony Smith3 said:I don't know, man... personally, this looks like every other modern "horror" flick out there. Plus, I'm really not feeling the new Freddy look. They cast an amazing actor for the part, but then they totally botched it with some "generic" mask. It doesn't capture anything about the original Freddy's vibe...🤷

image

I actually like the casting. In those opening scenes where he's running, he carries this vibe of a predator targeting kids 😉. I don't mind the different mask, but it feels a bit too heavy on the CGI for my taste.

Something else caught my eye—people might disagree, but when he speaks at the end of the trailer, he reminds me a little of Ledger's Joker 🙂,
especially that "not one bit" line.
