What's the deal with these new forums? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Daniel Ward87 said:Why should we have to give everyone an update on what Tim and I are up to? Don't sweat it—everyone on the admin team handles their own business just like we agreed.

The guy basically just voiced what everyone else is thinking:
where's Tyndall at? He's barely even showing up in this PDF
and where have you been? You were MIA for a few days

and honestly, I don't get why you had to be so incredibly rude when answering that. 😕 🤷

Nobody expects you to log every single move you make here, but if someone actually asks, is it really that hard to just answer?
PDF Moderation for Soap Factory in Feedback & Suggestions ·
ambermason16 said:Jeremy Reyes5, I mean it—thank you. Anyone who actually knows anything about how this soap factory PDF works knows that he and I have had some serious clashes in the past. But unlike the person who started this whole circus, we actually know how to distinguish between the relationship between forum users and the mods, versus the personal bond between ambermason16 and Jeremy Reyes5.

You two have completely lost the plot. It’s not just that you’re shamelessly spamming posts where you basically just talk to yourselves—leaving everyone else totally confused—but you’re also back at it again with the constant lying and slander.

I am calling out every single person on this forum who ever reached out to me for advice or help and was left hanging. I want to know exactly who got shut down by one of my favorites. Who did I snap at without any reason? Who did I refuse to listen to when I actually messed up and needed to make things right? Or better yet, who have I just picked on for no damn reason at all? I’m asking you now: step up. Come forward publicly so we can lay everything out on the table and see exactly what kind of nonsense is going on.

I am honestly fed up. I’m sick of these grown women who can't tell the difference between real life and some trashy daytime soap opera, and then they think they have the right to talk down to me whenever they feel like it.

Here I am again. If you ask me, you were just being rude for no reason.

You just crashed into my thread on the message board out of nowhere—it has absolutely nothing to do with what we were talking about—and started whining about some organized attack. Honestly, I’d love to see how you even define an "attack" in your head.

post:

Quoting gazillions of other people's posts like this just to lecture someone who is uninformed, informed, or just plain blind... wow. 🙄To an observer, it might look like... Well, that was a perfectly coordinated and well-timed personal attack. Colbert, cut it out.

But hey, that's just my personal take on things. Just popped in to catch up on everything and leave a few thoughts along the way. 🙂

You actually had the nerve to write that you just popped in and left a quick note. 🙄
If it had been user vulgaris posting this, he would've been slapped with a ban.

You asked, now you have it.

One more thing, though I suppose it could also just go under Question for Administration:
ambermason16 said:🤣 thanks for this post. You just did me a bigger favor than if you’d declared me the greatest moderator in history.

And just so we have this on the record: I have zero clue who you actually are, other than being that person giggling in every thread about how you're the luckiest little Smurf alive because you got unbanned thirty minutes ago and swore eternal loyalty to the admins. So, you can relax—I couldn't care less about "your every move." It's about as exciting to me as watching a local high school wrestling match.

It’s funny how you people act so important, thinking you have the right to insult and spit on forum users, mods, and admins. You're terrified of the staff, yet here you are playing the lady. But the second someone gives you the feedback you actually deserve, you're absolutely mortified. Apparently, you think we should all be bowing to the floor, treating every bit of your slanderous nonsense with humble, quiet respect.

Oh, and by the way, force doesn't exist... the guy is stuck at the soap factory, which is closing down in a few days anyway. Bummer.

How on earth can someone who’s clearly just counting down the days until this series ends and they can finally close the thread actually be a Moderator for that PDF?
I haven't the slightest clue. 🤷

Hey... what a bummer.

Anthony Barrett37 said:...The old handles are staying. Those avatars look like they were cobbled together back in 2004 or 2005, give or take.

Which of these two options would actually be the right answer?

I can't quite remember, but I think someone already brought this up. I honestly don't know why I bother typing these things out when most people just scroll right past anyway. No bio, no avatar, and he’s been registered since 2002? What a joke. 🤷
Avatars in Banana? in Forum Help! ·
Since I’m already here asking questions... I’ve thought about bringing this up a few times, hesitated, and then finally just caved today after seeing 😁

So, does anyone actually know why user avatars vanish once a handle gets banned?
But it doesn't happen every single time (which is the weird part—I get why they disappear, but I have no clue why some stay put), because while it’s rare for them to stick around, it happens, and I’m left wondering what kind of glitchy mystery we're dealing with 🤷 😕 🙄

I was looking at Slacker's profile today, he's banned, yet his avatar is still right there staring back at me with those glowing eyes

Anyone have an explanation?

Karen Rodriguez3 said:Actually, I’d rather ask you if you think this is even fair or useful—and how long the admins plan on letting this slide.

To clarify, people don't bother reporting posts or sending a PM, but they absolutely love coming here to complain or starting some massive thread about how the mods aren't doing their jobs.
Why is this being allowed before the person whining even tries to give a moderator a heads-up via a report? Instead of actually moderating, they end up stuck arguing about stuff that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

okay, got it. we did post names on that specific thread though... so... I guess the assumption is...

The assumption is... well, you know. That thread (if you're talking about aggressive Sex) hasn't really existed on Zionist Kitchen for a while now; it was cleaned up from the start, but once things went too far, it just got shut down.

I know this isn't really what we're talking about here, but since these out-of-context, totally outdated posts are still sitting here, I figured I might as well weigh in on them.

Oh Karen Rodriguez3, you're being so serious—I was just joking around with my answer and the whole "whining" thing; trust me, I won't start moping until I've tried everything else first. 😉

Sorry if I offended you somehow, that really wasn't my intention.

And that comment of mine was actually about a different thread in the Psychology section (which is already sorted), though I agree I should have checked with the mods first; it just caught my eye right as I stumbled onto this topic, so it ended up being pretty pointless given how things turned out, but we've moved past it.

Why is this allowed before the person complaining has even tried to alert the moderators via a report? Instead of actually moderating, they're stuck debating things here that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I'm not sure, but I agree that you should notify a moderator first; if I recall correctly, there's actually a set procedure for that somewhere.

The assumption is... well, you know. That thread (if you mean aggressive Sex) hasn't existed on this forum for a while; it was kept clean from the start, but once it crossed the line, it was shut down.

I wasn't talking about aggressive Sex, I meant a previous thread in Psychology (it's settled now).
(By the way, since you mentioned it, you guys deleted the aggressive Sex thread instead of closing it.)

Right, fair enough, but we did drop names in that thread, so... anyway, it was just an assumption.

Linda Price5 said:And what exactly was the penalty for the lady who supposedly found her assault "enjoyable"?

In my view, it is utterly unacceptable that on a forum dedicated to the experiences of women who have been raped, nearly raped, or sexually abused, we see a post like that allowed to stand. Yet, someone who triggers such a post by providing a lengthy description of a "rape" that was essentially described as painful but pleasurable sex in a car is met with draconian punishment. What happened—did you delete her post? 😁 Boo-hoo.

Absolutely nothing, so she can just keep trolling if she wants.
It seems to have become the standard rule lately: you just make up a whole story, and then when someone actually calls you out on the inconsistencies, you get banned like they're "killing the messenger."

There was a similar situation recently over in the Psychology section—total fabrication too. The author, 🙄, is a notorious troll here. If you check the last page of that thread, her two old handles were called out, and yet, absolutely nothing happened.

She got a strike for being abusive when she lost her mind (if you can even call it that) after those handles were mentioned
(Oh, right, I forgot to mention... those were permabanned handles) and 🤷 nothing came of it.
Now she's facing another ban, but since she's already accumulated enough strikes, she can basically keep trolling without any real interference.

Just as an FYI for anyone interested, that thread about aggressive Sex with Zionist Kitchen was moved from Psychology to where all the other nonsense lives. So, I'll head over there now and ask how one is supposed to enjoy being raped.
Daniel Ward87 said:Yeah, he’s been Banned from the Forum. We had to shut down that specific username because he was just using a clone account to stir up trouble.

So does that mean he’d be fine if he used a different handle? No, obviously not; they'd just have to put up with him for a little longer.

That makes sense, but still, using a term like the Marshall Party carries some negative weight here on the Forum, doesn't it?

Or maybe:

Does that imply he can post with a different or similar handle, as long as he stays civil?

If it's the latter, where do we actually draw the line on tolerance? That's more of a rhetorical question.
Sandra Gonzalez3 said:Yeah, exactly. If you were a moderator in Politics, you'd get it. There is a MASSIVE difference between showing up with a trash nickname to drop political bombs and then switching over to the gardening section to geek out about pansies using that same handle.

So, until this thread actually blew up, the only issue was the controversial name. I mean, the guy was literally told to find a better handle "and everything will be okay," and as far as I recall, it wasn't exactly declared a "day kindness to troll."

We're just spinning our wheels here. They didn't even get banned immediately just for trolling, otherwise a permaban would have looked weird. If they had, everyone on the PŽK would have lost their minds over a cloned Marshall with like three posts... 😁(just kidding). The combo of the username and the actual posts made it obvious what the goal was, so removing that shady handle from Politics was the right call by the mods.

Seriously, I'm confused too. 😕

That’s just plain false.

That handle wasn't just removed from Politics; they're banned from the entire Forum.
Here you go, go ahead and do your own research:

Daniel Ward87 says:
I honestly don't see why people act like this is some massive revelation when it’s just common sense, though I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that everyone is losing their minds over nothing again.
There's just too much going on here. You can't exactly post anything with a handle like that. On the Forum. If you really want to understand what's going on, I'd suggest diving into American history from 1945 to 1995.

I honestly don't have the energy for this kind of nonsense right now. It’s just exhausting watching people act like they know everything when they clearly don't.
That username shouldn't be allowed to post here. On the Forum.Just find a better one and everything will be fine.
Daniel Ward87 said:That’s a total lie.

The guy got banned because he made a burner account just to stir the pot over in Politics. I told him straight up that he couldn't post here using that specific handle, so he's more than welcome to make a new one. But if he keeps posting the exact same stuff, he's going to get banned regardless of what his username is.

Nice makes a fair point; if he had picked a different name, he might not have been flagged immediately, but with posts like those, he would’ve caught a moderator's eye pretty fast anyway, and the result would be identical.

@Nicholas King - look, I don't owe anyone an explanation for everything. As an admin, I have certain tools at my disposal, and I use them when they make sense, in coordination with the rest of the mod team. It’s tough when so much of the actual conversation happens in private messages, leaving you guys seeing only half the story, which leads to a lot of wrong conclusions. I don't need to air all that out here, and even if I wanted to, I can't because I won't leak private info.

So, I guess the username really is an issue after all.
Wait a second!!!

What do you mean, removal? Who even asked for anything to be removed?
And by the way, I actually took Daniel Ward87's post to mean he was announcing that people's nicknames were going to be taken away or changed next.🙄

Just so we're clear, mentioning Milka Planinc (as a username, obviously) wasn't meant as some attempt to snitch on an inappropriate handle. It was just to point out that there are plenty more ambiguous names on this Forum that fall under the exact same criteria Daniel Ward87 is using to hand out bans.

Since those names aren't going anywhere, this whole thing where you apply political revisionism to usernames is just complete nonsense.

Also, let me say it again: deleting names like Josip Broz Marshall, Milka Planinc, or Stane Dolanc—our own historical figures—while leaving Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein, and Joseph Stalin untouched is 😵 😲 🤣

And like I said, with some people, it's pretty obvious what's going on without needing a trial or whatever. But with others, it's clearly just someone acting out based on their own personal biases or current petty squabbles, which, honestly, have been happening since these handles were first registered.
What's the deal with Milka Planinc?
Daniel Ward87 said:Who says we can't talk about Josip Broz Marshall or The Party? On this site, there are endless threads about him and—get this—communist atrocities. And if you follow those crimes back to their source, they lead straight to the guy at the top, which in this case is Josip Broz Marshall, rather than someone like Pol Pot or the late Saddam Hussein. There’s definitely a time and place where discussing his legacy makes sense. But honestly, given how recent all these revelations about communist crimes in America have been, I think it's smarter to head off any potential drama by just not letting certain usernames post here under those specific handles, right?

Just to be clear, using the name Marshall Party isn't my way of glorifying any crimes. In fact, I haven't even claimed he was solely responsible for everything.

As an admin, I don't really care whose birthday you're celebrating.

aha, I see, "seems"
what if it turns out to be wrong?

it would be pretty weird if the ripples of communist crimes during World War II in our neck of the woods led back to Pol Pot, wouldn't it? but hey, who knows 🤔

btw, I don't get why you added "late" next to Saddam, since Marshall is also late 🤷

what if he turns out to be a historically positive figure? how many other controversial historical figures are there, and are their names banned here too? your reasoning for "allowing" the Saddam username is honestly catastrophic

you're reading crimes into the compound name Marshall Party, come on, you're just being vague here and here , but your personal opinion shouldn't be the main topic

As an administrator, I don't care whose birthday you're celebrating.

sure
but if I celebrate it with a matching avatar, will you care then?
What on earth is going on here?????

Just eyeballing it... if I may ask... when exactly did Josip Broz Marshall or the Democratic Party ever stand trial and get convicted? Where and when did historians actually reach a consensus on the role of Josip Broz Marshall and/or the Democratic Party, specifically labeling them as criminals whose names shouldn't even be mentioned—as if just seeing their names could cause chaos and disorder on a single forum🤷 🤔

And just for my own information, what else is banned on this forum besides using Marshall or the Democratic Party in your username? Does this apply to linking songs that "reimagine" the life and works of our beloved Josip Broz Marshall and the Democratic Party, or does it extend to quoting that old phrase about the Marshall Party Youth Action..... ????????

I’m basically reporting myself here, since I mark the anniversary of J. B. Marshall's birthday every year with a post over on Spirituality; come on now, please, just give me the archives. It’s easy enough to find if you know the date, and you can't exactly ban someone from having a memory, can you?

It's funny how there were never any issues or controversies regarding such posts on Spirituality or elsewhere, but honestly, who am I even trying to explain this to?

Daniel Ward87, what exactly are you trying to achieve with these bans????

Do you even have an answer to this question?

Where do you get the authority to read nothing but crimes when looking at the term "Marshall Party"? (I was reading the corner for banned users)

I didn't go through every single one, just picked a few names at random. Some of these users have zero posts and haven't been online in ages, so they aren't really saying anything. The issue starts when they actually begin posting.

Furthermore,

Adolf. H. - last active on: 10/12/2008.
Adolf Hitler - last active on: 05/10/2011, has one post
Adolfo Hitler - last active on: 09/06/2009

As far as the names that hit close to home historically go—well, Saddam and Co. don't really apply here, so I won't dwell on them. Looking at the last activity dates, you can tell how serious these people are about their handles. You’ll probably try to argue about the universality of dictators, war crimes, and all that. But look, we live in America, and we have our own specific history to deal with. Even though I get why it's controversial, I want to avoid any unnecessary drama that could stem from a user's nickname. So, my stance on the Marshall Party remains the same.

But are we just refusing to look past our own little bubbles, or what?

Which is irrelevant, because the question remains: when exactly did Marshall become a historical criminal figure?

The fact remains, we live in America, which has its own history....

Sure, we have history, but it looks like you're trying to narrow it down a bit 🙄

This is absurd... oh right, discretionary power, I forgot.😁

brightridge59 said:I feel like my ability to rationalize things has been slipping lately. 🤣

Not really; it’s much easier to just sit around and lament about having poor motivation ☕

That’s true. Especially with this massive blizzard dumping snow all over the neighborhood right now. 😬

If you repeat an action enough times, yes, it shifts into autopilot, and at that point, it doesn't have much to do with discipline, which is usually tied to willpower and conscious effort.

Most of our daily routines are just repetitions of habits we picked up when we were kids, or things that didn't require much mental struggle to become second nature.

That is why I was asking how one actually disciplines themselves to tackle those tasks that weren't part of our upbringing or forced upon us by our parents growing up. 😁

You just... had to start doing something that wasn't particularly enjoyable in order for it to become automatic. And it would never have become a habit if there wasn't a foundation—and goodness knows, that foundation isn't motivation, it's self-discipline. 😁

But doesn't motivation drive every decision to practice self-discipline? Take getting out of bed in the morning to head into the office when you absolutely don't feel like it; you need discipline to move, but the motivation behind it is the paycheck that covers your bills. 😁

No, that was more of a commentary on how rare self-discipline actually is.
It's not that it's rare, it's just that sometimes we don't perceive it that way because we don't have any breathing room to hesitate—we simply do what has to be done.

I see your point. You also mentioned that you "would otherwise procrastinate..." But what if someone is just naturally the type of person who procrastinates...? 😁

Man, some of those early years were just training, I guess; like, even when I'm making dinner every night, I still get this nagging feeling that I'm missing out on something better or more meaningful.🙄

Quincy:
That’s why I asked how we can actually build discipline for the things that weren't forced on us by our parents or our upbringing. 😁
Maybe try a similar approach—you know, set a goal for yourself and then... implement a reward or a penalty if you fail.

Quincy:
Doesn't motivation drive every decision to be disciplined? You need discipline to drag yourself out of bed for work when you don't feel like it, but the motivation is the paycheck that covers your bills. 😁
There's always a motive, which is why I think the whole concept of "motivation" feels a bit overused.
If you view lack of discipline as just another habit, then willpower is really all you have; motivation is just there to act as a little extra support. 🤷
Personally, I still prefer not to overthink it—just do the thing and worry about the reward later, because if I start looking for a "reason why," I'll just end up finding a hundred reasons why I shouldn't.
It seems simple enough. 😁

Quincy:
I get it. But you also mentioned that you would "otherwise procrastinate..." What if you're just someone who procrastinates by nature...? 😁
Well, people are just different; it really depends on whether it bothers you or the people around you, and once it starts causing problems, you either change your ways or you start losing things.

I don't know, it's pretty damn bad, because you either screw something up, stay constantly miserable, or...
you end up with some massive deficit in life since it's nearly impossible to function in any community like that.
You have to break the cycle... just stop doing it every single time you feel like putting things off without having a vague idea of when that "tomorrow" is actually going to happen.
Unless, of course, you're just lying to yourself thinking it's fine. 😁

brightridge59 said:Wikipedia says:

In its most traditional sense, discipline refers to the systematic instruction provided to disciples, training them as students in a specific craft or trade, or teaching them to adhere to a particular code of conduct or an established "order."

There are all sorts of different methods of discipline out there, but the one I’ve really been pondering lately is self-discipline.

Self-discipline can be defined as the ability to motivate oneself even when you're dealing with a negative emotional state. It’s usually linked to qualities like sheer willpower, a strong work ethic, and steady persistence.

So, by definition, self-discipline is essentially a capability—something deeply intertwined with motivation.
What I’m truly curious about, though, is how one actually develops this internally when you don't have that external structure or discipline imposed by others to lean on throughout life. Is it even possible to cultivate that kind of inner strength from scratch, and just how much raw motivation does it take to make it stick?

Forget about motivation, because once you start overthinking it, you won't get anything done at all.

Self-discipline is just the ability to do the things you really don't feel like doing.
To put it simply... when you want to do something, you have motivation, but when you don't, you need discipline. 😁
Practice saying "no" to yourself. 🤷

Harold Ramos4 said:Self-discipline is doable, sure, but it happens pretty rarely because humans are naturally passive creatures at heart.

Behind every successful person, there's usually some kind of mentor or coach standing there.
And if you look closely, discipline is the defining trait of anyone who makes it.

There’s already a thread about life coaches... people seem to have this weird grudge against them for some reason. But why is that? A football coach isn't looked at that way, even though they’re doing the exact same thing—training someone.

And based on the definition you provided, discipline practically requires a teacher, a coach, or a mentor. Whatever you want to call them.

You think so? 😁
Just look at any single day in your life; isn't it basically just a series of tasks you complete because you've built up some level of discipline? Otherwise, you'd just spend forever procrastinating on everything you need to get done because you just can't be bothered.

Quincy:
...And by the definition you just gave, discipline requires a teacher, a coach, or a mentor (whatever you want to call them).
I wouldn't say that; you can definitely figure it out on your own.

It's obvious it was, considering how Black people are portrayed as a burden to civilization while Jews are blamed for the Holocaust just for daring to be better.🙄

btw, that sentence about "extinguishing" appeared somewhere, but I really don't feel like digging through old threads to prove it to you—it feels pointless at this stage.

I didn't miss anything.
