Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
Hey everyone, greetings to you all!

I was wondering if anyone might be able to offer some guidance on which monitor I should perhaps look into getting? Currently, I'm running an RTX 3060, and I'd love to find something in the ballpark of $1000 that would work well... honestly, I'm asking because I'm really quite out of my element here. I don't exactly consider myself a hardcore gamer—nothing too intense or anything special, I suppose—but I do occasionally fire up a game or maybe catch an NBA game every now and then, and that’s pretty much it...

Good grief... I mean, seriously, watching snakes fall from an airplane is basically the spiritual successor to those terrible sequels we all suffered through... I can't even remember the last time I sat through something this underwhelming. It’s just one giant collection of incredibly silly clichés and a plot so predictable you could see it coming from a mile away. Honestly, the whole thing is just overflowing with forced sentimentality—it's practically a horror movie in the most literal, painful sense of the word. The logic is just completely nonsensical... especially during those arena fights where everything seems to be collapsing around them, and then there was that sequence with the ship flying at full speed down the main street 🤣🤣🤣 being carried by the wave. My goodness... I think after sitting through this, your IQ might actually take a hit. You really shouldn't bother watching it..

USA vs. Spain

I suppose one might wonder what kind of deep analysis this matchup actually requires, because honestly, what is there even to say about this game? It seems like Spain is the heavy favorite according to all the sportsbooks and pretty much everything else out there...

Personally, I went ahead and placed a tiny little wager on an American victory, mostly just being a fan and thinking there might be some sort of value there at 8.0 odds, but... well, what strikes me as a decent enough option is actually the double chance for a draw or a win at 2.4. If my memory serves me right—and I could be wrong, of course—Spain hasn't really been dominating anyone in regulation time for nearly a century... and if they have their sights set on making it to the finals, I suspect they’ll definitely try to avoid running into Italy, which makes this a perfect moment for them to aim for something like a 2:2 draw. I feel like I've seen it happen far too many times where a specific scoreline just fits both teams perfectly, and when all twenty-two players on the pitch seem to want the same outcome, it almost always ends up happening that way. Also, just as an aside, the value on a precise 2:2 scoreline is sitting at 8.0 over at DraftKings

Good luck to everyone, and let's hope our boys pull it off!

Germany at 2.6?! ... I mean, how on earth could anyone pass up those odds...

I was watching the game, and I'd bet my bottom dollar most people were glued to the Netherlands vs. Denmark matchup too... there were just so many opportunities there, and honestly, the Dutch looked like they played a much better brand of soccer, but somehow things just wouldn't click for them. On the other hand, I noticed Germany really stepped up their game right when it mattered most, while the Dutch seemed to be constantly oscillating and struggling to find a rhythm... so, if you ask me, today is a clear win for Germany at moderate stakes because, I mean, Germany at 2.6?! You simply can't ignore a value play like that.
Betting Shop Subforum Rules in Betting Forum ·
I have been betting on DraftKings for more than ten years now... and I have seen so many different forums that used to have dedicated betting sub-forums, yet it seems like every single one of them just vanishes or dies out the moment they start introducing way too many restrictive rules... I really hope we watch out so that the folks who have been posting in the daily threads don't just migrate over to other boards, because, thank God, there are plenty of other places to go...

I honestly don't know why, but sometimes it feels to me like the moderators and admins are essentially destroying this entire forum by enforcing these incredibly massive rulebooks... I spend most of my time in the tech discussions, and I can tell you from experience that even over there, because of these heavy-handed regulations regarding various teams and groups, people simply pack up and move to other sites...

The question is, what was actually missing from those daily threads? . . . One of the absolute silliest things I have witnessed is the decision to shut down the daily threads... I mean, if someone just posts that they played five parlays without adding any commentary, so what? Or, if someone posts their five parlays and provides a detailed explanation for each one that goes on for maybe a hundred sentences, then what? . . . In my opinion, both ways work perfectly fine, so I truly don't see any logical reason to kill off the daily threads.... the system was working more than excellently...

Christian Morales40 said:If you ask me, either way works; it isn't a huge deal. It's just that in this new thread, people are actually explaining the reasoning behind their parlays. It just seems a bit silly to just list the picks without giving some kind of justification...

Why on earth would it be considered "silly" to write down six parlays that someone happened to play? I mean, what's so foolish about that? .. It was exactly because of rules like this that that old top-tier betting board went under about five or more years ago—it really was the best gambling forum around...

And honestly, I think the situation is pretty obvious when you look at it from a distance... This replacement thread has managed to rack up as many posts in three days as a daily thread would typically pull in just one afternoon.... and when it's a major event like the Super Bowl or the Champions League on a Saturday, the post count would probably blow this current thread out of the water, even though right now we have a thread where every page only has two posts spread across three whole days!! . .

If you actually want to keep this community together, you should just bring back the daily threads... I think people will stick around here for a while longer... though if you don't act now, it might already be too late.

Aldridge-Williams... I mean, honestly, what on earth were they thinking with that pairing? It just feels completely wrong to me, I guess...

Nicholas Chase34 said:Well, since it looks extremely likely that Rose will actually suit up—his status is listed as probable, though some sources say it’s a game-time decision, but I personally feel he'll be out there—I felt compelled to take the Denga under 18.5, because, you know, small forwards rarely score much when they're facing someone like Ariza. And instead of taking the Aldridge over (which feels like one point just a bit too high for my personal taste), I decided an alternative matchup might work better; I suppose D-Will's realistic ceiling is around 21.5, and he tends to play a bit more effectively on the road anyway. If Memphis can't manage to pull off a win against the Wolves without Love—who is their primary rebounder and such a vital piece—especially if they're playing tired, then honestly, 🤷 good luck to them! ☕

If anyone is looking for a reliable, frequently updated site to track specific player injuries, I would highly suggest checking out http://www.donbest.com/nba/injuries/.

And, if you happen to want to dig a little deeper into a specific injury or catch some recent updates, all you really need to do is type "player name rotoworld" into Google and just click that very first link. 🙂

Man, I am just so incredibly sleepy, I'm exhausted to the point of being frustrated... and yet I still have things to get done. So, without thinking too deeply about it, I went ahead and backed this parlay. Good luck to everyone. 🙂 🙂 It doesn't really matter if we lose, because tomorrow is a brand new day. 🙂 😉 😉

Well, if this happens to be some kind of actual virus, then you really ought to get it sorted out immediately, but if this is just some attempt at advertising, then I have to say it isn't exactly a great move because this style of promotion is just incredibly intrusive and, frankly, quite irritating... I mean, you might actually end up losing your users that way.
Windows 7 in Software ·
I mean, if you just try typing "Daemon Tools on Windows 7" into Google, you’ll probably see thousands of absolutely frantic people all struggling with the exact same headache because they just can't get it to work properly...

In general, I feel like both Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120 cause massive amounts of trouble... personally, I haven't been able to make either one of them function correctly on build 7077 or 7100, no matter what I tried, which is quite frustrating, really... so, yeah... maybe just stay away from Windows 7 for now? I guess Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 are actually much more reliable solutions at the moment than what we're dealing with here.
Windows 7 in Software ·
I’ve been watching this unfold for a whole week now... apparently, some guy installed it at his girlfriend's place and it’s just freezing up constantly. He can't even get a printer installed, Spotify is acting up, and then you've got Daemon and alcohol 120 causing massive headaches... things like the DVD-ROM drive just vanishing entirely, etc., etc. I'm talking about the Windows 7 RC1 7100 version specifically. Well, maybe it doesn't happen to everyone, but I suppose for certain people, things just aren't working quite right yet. I guess it might be best to just wait a little longer before jumping in.

As for me, I actually ended up reverting back to Windows Vista... the Ultimate edition. Honestly, I think Windows Vista SP1 runs much smoother and feels way more reliable than this new Windows 7 system... at least, that's how it seems to me for the time being.

Well, I must say, I’ve been on a bit of a hunt myself for quite some time now, though I haven't quite managed to track it down just yet... I suppose it's just one of those things that stays elusive! If you happen to stumble upon it by any chance, would you be so kind as to send me a quick PM? 😁😁
Is anyone out there? Is there absolutely nobody home? 🙄 Please, I'm begging you, someone say something! 😕
Dear fellow forum members,

I suppose I’m reaching out today because of something rather heavy on my mind, which I think is pretty obvious from the title itself. I was wondering if anyone here might have any experience or insights regarding a situation we're facing. To give you some context—and I hope this isn't too much information—it concerns my grandfather, who is currently 78 years old. He’s actually in quite good physical shape, all things considered for his age, and he’s doing remarkably well, except for this one specific issue that has cropped up. Apparently, he’s been dealing with this tumor for about six years now, and honestly, the doctors at our local clinic in a small town in the Midwest aren't entirely sure how to proceed. They haven't recommended surgery because they just can't say for certain whether it's malignant or benign, and even a biopsy didn't provide a clear answer. The location is also quite tricky, as there's a real risk it could press against the aorta, potentially leading to an aortic dissection. Chemotherapy hasn't been suggested either, mostly due to his age and some complexities regarding the tissue type that weren't fully clarified, so that doesn't seem like a viable path. In the end, after several days of deliberation and uncertainty, the surgeons did eventually agree to operate, but my grandfather decided against it. The doctors explained that if it turns out to be malignant, the surgery might actually make his condition worse, whereas there's a chance that since it has remained dormant for six years, it might just stay that way.

So, my grandfather is back home now, and he actually feels wonderful! He’s staying active and doing everything he used to do without any pain at all. The agreement with his medical team is that they will monitor him closely, and if they detect any growth—though nothing has changed in the last six months—they will step in and take action, but until then, they feel there's no immediate need for intervention.

What I really wanted to ask is, does anyone have any recommendations for supplements, specific remedies, or perhaps anything else you’ve heard of that might help? Whether it’s related to this specific condition, something similar, or just general wellness when dealing with tumors, I would truly appreciate any wisdom you can share.

Thank you all so much in advance for your responses.
POLL: Best Picture of the 1970s? in Movies ·
I honestly find myself quite perplexed by this whole debate, because I just can't wrap my head around why so many people insist that The Godfather: Part II is actually superior to the original, even though the first one is, in my humble opinion, absolutely flawless! It’s such a fascinating point of contention, isn't it? I mean, I suppose there are valid arguments to be made for both, but I just can't quite grasp the logic behind choosing one over the other when the first film is such an absolute masterpiece. Perhaps it's just a matter of personal taste, I guess, but I find myself constantly questioning that consensus!

I suppose if we are looking back at that magnificent Best Picture list, I might have to suggest that The Godfather: Part II holds a very special place in my heart, though perhaps it’s just me being sentimental!
I suppose I should probably mention that, if we're really going to dive into this, my personal pick would have to be The Godfather. It’s just one of those films, isn't it? I mean, I guess you could argue about it all day, but there's just something so incredibly grand about it!
I suppose I should probably mention that I’ve been thinking quite a bit lately about the sheer, overwhelming weight of *The Deer Hunter*, and honestly, it just stays with you, doesn't it? It’s one of those films that feels less like a movie and more like an experience you have to process over several days, maybe even weeks, if you're being truthful. I find myself drifting back to its imagery constantly, though I'm not entirely sure why my mind keeps circling back to it so relentlessly!

I was actually thinking the exact same thing...

I mean, I guess the user who originally started this thread didn't really include any actual speeches by Al Pacino... which is a bit odd, because I suppose it's almost impossible to find one of his movies that doesn't feature some kind of absolutely legendary monologue... but then again, you have to look at Scent of a Woman 🙏🙏
U2 3D [2008] in Movies ·
I just finished watching it, and honestly, I can only say it was absolutely phenomenal... I’d highly recommend it to everyone out there! Since I happen to be a massive U2 fan, I ended up watching it quite a few times, both out of pure devotion and just sheer curiosity...

I suspect I might actually head back to see it one more time or even two over the next few days... it’s just that good...
Chaos on Brest Street! in Movies ·
It was definitely one of those rare horror films that actually managed to terrify me... I mean, I was just a kid back then. I still vividly remember being about 10 or 11 years old in the early 90s, sitting there watching the very first real masterpiece when it hit theaters in a city like Chicago... and let me tell you, after that, I wasn't exactly sleeping soundly at night. As for the sequels? Well, honestly, they were all pretty terrible—just complete trash and total garbage. Though, I suppose I did end up seeing them all, even that one... what was it called? One of the general sequels. I think it was around 1995, back when they used to hand out those little glasses in the theaters to give it a sort of 3D effect, where one lens was red and the other was blue. Even that one wasn't half bad, I guess.

There is really only one true, genuine classic... and that is the original film.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) in Movies ·
I don't usually find myself gravitating toward these kinds of "lightweight" movies... and if I do happen to watch one, I typically save it for right before bed since, well, I usually just drift off halfway through something like this... but for some reason, I actually stayed awake for this one... and, I must say, it was actually quite good... and rather entertaining, too...

Oh, and I have to mention that Mila Kunis looks absolutely stunning in this...
The Fall of Las Vegas in Movies ·
That was certainly an interesting movie... I mean, it was fun, I suppose, but I can't help but wonder about the realism of it all. It doesn't seem to align very closely with how actual American counters operate in the real world. In reality, those professionals spend years and years honing the specific techniques shown on screen, whereas this crew seems to have mastered everything in what feels like, oh, maybe just a single week? 😁😁
