I just watched Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom; it was sick and perverse, yet a brilliant piece of work. 🙏 🙏 Now, I find myself genuinely curious about The Decameron.

Hmm, I wasn't a fan. I grew up reading the Tarzan comics and books, and watched various adaptations; I always loved him as an adventurer, but here they just portray him as some primitive relic...

True, but it's a tall order to expect anyone to root for the teenagers in a Friday the 13th flick...

Ethan Perez97 said:The truth is, the 80s produced the most solid material, even if there was plenty of junk mixed in. Then we hit a bit of a lull in the 90s, though that decade did give us two absolute masterpieces in the thriller/horror genre—I'm thinking *Silence of the Lambs* and *Se7en*. Since 2000, everything has just shifted toward the remake craze. Whether that’s a step forward or backward... I won't get into that here.
I honestly don't know why everyone keeps insisting there aren't any decent horror movies left... if you actually bothered to check this site. http://www.horrorhr.com/
Even back then, the focus was on creature features and shock value—the art of building atmosphere. For audiences in the 80s, you had these bizarre cult classics like *Brain Damage*, *Basket Case*, or *It Lives*... But nowadays, everything just boils down to teenagers, gore, sex, mindless violence, guts, slashers, and endless sequels. 👎

You can interpret this film as a political allegory—it isn't particularly subtle, especially considering that scene involving the American flag—rather than viewing it purely as mindless gore. Personally, I found the viewing experience quite enjoyable. Does that make me mentally ill?
Says the guy who actually sat through Necromancy... 😁
