Curly hair thread in Feedback & Suggestions ·
If a thread gets locked, the mod shouldn't be dropping replies in there either, right? Makes zero sense.

The topic's closed, yet a response popped up just five minutes after the lock went down.🙄

Gary James88 said:You could try answering him with actual arguments, pointing out what might be wrong with his logic, rather than just throwing unhinged outbursts like "that's wrong," "you don't know what you're talking about," "that's just religious nonsense," or "Cthulhu said so..."

And honestly? You think religious folks are actually gonna sit down, read our points, and give them a fair shake? I doubt it. I don't get why there's this expectation for us to bend over backward and compromise our own principles just to have a debate, especially when we already know the other side isn't going to do the same for us.☕

Gary James88 said:I’m locking this thread for a while. The discussion turned toxic, and clearly, this sub isn't ready to step outside its comfort zone to talk about things beyond the standard models—which, by the way, are tied directly to American medical schools and hospital systems rather than being fit for a forum on spirituality.

If people actually understood the "scientific" theories backing certain psychotherapy trends, they might think twice before jumping to conclusions.

It's frustrating. You have the Religion sub where "narrow-minded believers" endlessly debate evolution—topics that really belong in a science forum—yet this supposedly "liberal and open-minded" Psychology sub can't handle a little diversity of thought once every couple of years.

Look, if you start out by attacking 98% of the regular users here (how else am I supposed to put it? 🤔), what kind of constructive conversation are you actually expecting to grow from that?
Are we just supposed to bite our own tongues and agree that Jesus is somehow more important than our actual illnesses, implying we should ditch medical treatment and just stick to prayer? 🤷

I seriously can't stand people using religion to meddle in medical issues.

Let's put it this way: if your kid has leukemia, instead of taking them to a doctor to get actual treatment, you just leave them sitting in a dark room because you're too embarrassed by how sick they are.

Does that sound sane to you? And since when did it become okay to attack someone who is dealing with a health crisis?? Is the person even at fault?? AM I THE ONE AT FAULT HERE????

I’d usually worry about being rude, but honestly... I don't care. You guys are just narrow-minded.🙂

Honestly, stuff like this just makes my blood boil. The other day I saw this bratty little kid trying to swing a ruler at a dog that was literally just sitting there being sweet and wagging its tail. For a split second, I seriously considered just booting her or giving her a massive slap, but for her own sake, she didn't hit him... because if she had, I would’ve definitely laid into her. ☕☕☕☕

Seriously though, who even gave her permission?? Like, you’re out here hunting down some random guy just so he can hook you up with someone else? 😍
Does your brain have a gender? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Your Brain is 67 % Female
So, turns out you've got a total girly girl brain
Honestly? Not even mad about it.
It means you’re actually empathetic, caring, and pretty dialed into how people feel.
You're the kind of friend people actually turn to when they need solid advice.

guess i'm definitely a girly girl 😲 😢 😍😍
How do I stop biting my nails? in Psychology ·
I had this whole vision of having these long, gorgeous nails, but I honestly don't have $100 (let alone $200 😛) to drop on those overpriced manicures 🙄 (plus, they never really look right on me anyway 😬), so I decided to just let them grow out naturally... and I was being super stubborn about it, too. I was dead set on keeping them long. I was terrified they wouldn't grow or that I’d end up biting them and wasting three months of progress... then they started splitting, and my willpower just evaporated. Now I'm back at square one. One of them cracked and I've been staring at it for two days straight—even after filing it down, I'm still dying to mess with it. When the urge gets really bad, I'll just grab some cheap press-on nails from CVS for a day, admire how cute they look, and tell myself my real ones will look just like that soon. It's the only thing that keeps me sane

I'm such a freak 🥳🥳

I can't really make sense of that one. It looks like just a username, so there isn't much to work with here. If you have an actual post or some text you want me to rework, just toss it my way. I'm ready when you are. kaže:
I don't think it's just the older crowd, either. You've got plenty of younger women acting the exact same way, which honestly makes it even more unsettling.😍

Honestly, you should just ignore people like that. Or hey, sure, you can get into a little scrap with them once in a while—it’s probably a better workout than hitting the gym anyway.😁

Facts. There are way too many bitter people on here who are basically textbook examples of what happens when someone deals with abuse or oppression in their actual lives, and then they just dump all that frustration onto everyone else online. Honestly? I feel for them, I really do. But there are better ways to get help than using this forum as a punching bag for your own issues.

Another one. Can't even hold a decent conversation without pivoting to some weirdly personal attack. Instead of actually debating the point, they just start digging up old posts like, "Oh, you said this thing three weeks ago on a different thread, so you must be some bitter, frustrated little brat." Give me a break. Just can't stay on topic for five seconds.
Look, if we’re talking about, say, grandmas... I’m not about to go pulling up a spreadsheet for every single person I quote just to dig through their dirty laundry. Some people actually do that, though. Honestly. 🙄

not all women, but... read it again, she categorized them precisely, just like Maria Callas said:

-----------------

wow, that was phrased quite harshly; I hope you made a mistake somewhere 🤷
and gave such a contradictory statement about ignoring people

I've always viewed this forum primarily as a place where I can operate completely anonymously, without any sort of support group
just imagine the bloodbath that would happen here if everyone functioned like that

- I suppose a person should know how to defend themselves from attacks
- being part of a social group doesn't mean every member thinks the same thing

and most of what some people consider an attack isn't actually that—it's just a basic disagreement in viewpoints

some people, unable to explain it any other way, interpret it as age gaps or gender... while others see it as the social connections you (clumsily?) suggest as a possible fix

I honestly think it's misplaced to suggest anyone should go out and form little cliques to "defend" their own opinions

Same here. I’ve got my actual life and my Facebook for my friends, but this forum? This is just for dumping some random opinions and stuff I don't really feel like writing an entire essay about. One or two posts and I'm done. 🤷

fadedheron892 said:Don't even waste your energy on people like that, because let me tell you, they don't just go after young girls. I've dealt with this exact nonsense myself where they'd take a single sentence I wrote and spin this massive, dramatic saga about what my "true intentions" were—as if they somehow know my own mind better than I do, which is just laughable. Honestly, these people are pathetic, and what’s even more ridiculous is that I'm pretty sure they were just college students. So, when we talk about "old bags," we're really talking about bitter women of all ages who just love to hear themselves talk.

I'm all in on this. 🙂 🙏🙏

Walter Lewis5 said:Heh... that was sarcasm. I’m not really about insulting people, but this forum gives you enough discretion to let off steam. You can vent about jealousy, ego, little cliques fighting other cliques, people acting fake, or those "know-it-alls." It's basically a microcosm of real life. Sometimes it gets pretty nasty, especially if you're a new user who doesn't know the ropes yet, but once you've been around the block and put in enough posts, you develop a thicker skin.😁

I thought about it, but then I just... whatever. 😉😉
I’m with you on that one... Honestly, I only hopped onto this forum to get away from people like that, but sometimes it feels like there's actually more of them here than anywhere else. 🙄

Rebecca Scott3 said:...first off, calling women going through menopause "old ladies" is just plain rude......in our culture, that’s basically a slur for any woman who isn't in her absolute prime anymore......
....secondly.... it’s just not true that every woman in menopause is obnoxious or constantly picking fights on internet forums.....
... it’s really no different than saying all Americans are aggressive bullies....or something along those lines.....which is vague, totally unfair, and just wrong......

Look, I’ll just say it—everyone’s getting offended lately. Seriously, even this. Everything is treated like some massive personal attack, and suddenly we’re all being labeled as "disrespectful." It happens way too often. Like, even if I actually know more about a topic than the person I’m talking to—even if they’re literally old enough to be my grandma—I can't exactly be right. Because apparently, if you don't have enough gray hair, your arguments and facts don't count for squat.

Insulting younger people??

Not really OT
but look, there are definitely times when younger girls just shut down any advice from older women, or they take every bit of constructive criticism as some kind of jealous attack..

Now I'm actually low-key terrified to take it 🙄

So, what kind of reactions are we even supposed to be feeling?? 😕

The thing is, she let the guy abuse her, so yeah, she’s responsible for that. As for why her brother didn't step in—who’s to say he didn't?

And I'm not buying that whole "broken, traumatized woman" routine. One slap isn't going to ruin someone's life forever, and for any sane person, it's more than enough reason to walk away.

See, even the person I quoted earlier was judging her too! Just read the other posts above. 🙂

I get what you mean, but maybe try some autogenic training? Especially since your anxiety isn't super intense! It works wonders for tension and fear. If you're interested, check out Dr. Vedran Bilić over at Mayo Clinic right now! You just gotta be consistent, like, at least twice a day just for yourself. Each session with the six exercises takes about 20 or 30 mins. Might be worth a shot, I guess! 🙂

Can you tell me more about that via DM? thanks
🙂

Ronald Garcia5 said:Perhaps the real question is this: what are we supposed to think about a woman who just stands there and lets her husband beat her?

Maybe we should be asking a different question here—like, what is actually wrong with men who lay hands on their wives? And just to be clear... it’s not about whether a woman "allows" it or "doesn't allow" it. That’s a nonsense argument. It’s really about having the guts, the luck, and a solid support system to actually get out. Not everyone has that luxury. So maybe save the lecturing for someone else. ☕

dustyangler2 said:If you got the 0.5mg Xanax, that’s basically nothing if you're actually panicking. Combining an antidepressant with something like Xanax SR is usually a much better combo, I guess... Just depends on how bad it's hitting you and what's going on?

No single pill is powerful enough to hit instantly and just fix everything, you know? Like, solve your whole life right then and there. Unless we're talking about those massive shots they give you at the hospital, lol😁

Anxiety doesn't exactly wreck me every time, and 99% of the time I can handle a panic attack on my own. But, you know, when I can't, I can't. And this Xanax? It's basically useless. It just makes me feel like absolute ☕

I want meds that actually calm me down, not stuff that leaves me even more paranoid because it isn't working and now I'm freaking out even harder!!! 😠😠

So, what, you're saying I should switch them out?
Is it wrong to ignore someone else's misfortune? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Probably all of the above!

So, I got some Xanax for when things get heavy, and honestly, I’ve had to reach for it twice now. But even then, I haven't felt any better after taking it. Maybe if I could actually stop convincing myself that everything's fine—which would help me chill out—it might work, but it's just such a fleeting thing...

Should I just hang in there and wait for something else to happen, or should I start looking into other options?
Sex is fine, but my OBGYN says no?! in Women's Health ·
Richard Martin said:This topic hits way too close to home.
I am seriously terrified of going to the OB-GYN. I'm 19, I've been sexually active with my partner for years now, and I have never once stepped foot in an exam room. We practice safe sex and everything has been fine so far, but there’s a history in my family—my mom, grandma, great-grandma—they all dealt with high estrogen and fibroids. Every single one of them had to have their uterus removed earlier than the generation before, and they suffered through massive pain for years because the doctors couldn't really help much. (There's more to the story, but nothing life-threatening, just painful, so I won't drag it out...)
Lately, I've started feeling those same kinds of pains. Now I'm fully aware that I HAVE to go get checked out, I just need someone to give me a little nudge of courage. (It's not even that I'm scared of the results, I'm just scared of the actual exam itself, so hearing some positive experiences would really help...)
Honestly, I have no clue which doctor to see. Everywhere I turn, I hear horror stories. And I'd really like to actually trust the person who's sticking fingers and instruments inside me every few months...
If anyone here has been in a similar spot, felt just as anxious, and found a doctor who was actually professional, gentle, or decent enough to recommend...
😢

In my case, the finger exam lasted maybe a minute or two, plus a minute for the Pap smear!
Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is! Nobody enjoys it, but you just get it over with. It's not like they're shoving 65 Q-tips and a spatula up there.☕

And now, if I can just be a little dramatic for a second (not about the post I quoted, just in general)!
You can go have sex and let guys stick their fingers in you, but you can't handle a gynecologist even if the exam lasts sixty seconds??
