Talking about Borderline Personality Disorder on Psychocouch in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I wasn't exactly feeling creative when I had to come up with a title for this "so sue me" thread. 😁

I just wanted to say that I’m going through a pretty messy, complicated personal crisis right now. It means a LOT to me to be able to dump all my problems onto a thread where people might actually get it—whether they have BPD or they don't. Honestly, I was caught off guard yesterday seeing the thread locked just to "punish" certain users for being disobedient.

I don't know. I truly believe we’re capable of having constructive discussions here. What’s the actual solution? Delete the most read thread on the Psychology board? This place is clearly useful to people, and it gives everyone—BPDers and non-BPDers alike—real insight into how complex this condition is. 🤷

Look, if there’s really no other way, I suggest segregation. It’s obvious we can't play nice in the same sandbox on this specific topic (again, BPDers vs. non-BPDers). Would it honestly be such a huge deal to just open two separate threads? One titled Borderline Personality Disorder, and another for Partners of people with BPD—experiences, advice, and opinions.

After that, it’s easy for a BPDer to jump over and browse the Partners thread, or vice versa. As long as we stop the constant bickering. 🤷 But even then, both threads would need strict moderation to make sure everyone stays on topic.

Also, I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't know how easy it is for some women—who may have been victims of physical abuse themselves—to read arguments claiming domestic violence doesn't exist or that it’s just a consequence of a woman's BPD. In my book, no amount of verbal abuse justifies physical violence, whether it's against women or men. From what I know, even someone in a psychotic state has to answer for the physical injuries they inflict on others, let alone a lucid person who loses control while, say, living with someone with a mental illness.

It's not like people with BPD should be immune to criticism. But again, anyone who has become aware of their condition and the negativity they've directed at their Partner can easily hop over to the future "Partners of BPDers" thread and read up on it.

You honestly just need to swallow your pride and go talk to a professional about this. Once you actually get it off your chest, you’ll feel the weight lift immediately. I also think David Ramos4 is spot on—it would do you a massive amount of good to get out of the house more often and get out there with other people

Don't go shoving me into that category just because I'm trying to be objective. For the record, I’m a huge advocate for Gay rights. But honestly? It’s not that deep. Two guys or two girls kissing or sleeping together isn't some massive crisis. 🤷

Honestly, it’s neither realistic nor smart to allow same-sex couples to adopt children in this country right now. We need more time—a lot of time—for things to actually stabilize in that regard. I mean, what are you even talking about? Kids in schools bully each other just because their parents are poor; do you seriously think they won't act out just because they have two moms or two dads? The human brain is wired to react to anything different with confusion or outright aversion. It needs to be trained—and I’m sorry to have to say it like this—to accept diversity. If you think it's a smart move to open up adoption to you guys right here and now, then you're being, quite frankly, delusional. And that has nothing to do with your sexual orientation. Don't take it personally; I really didn't intend to insult you.

Look, when it comes to the whole argument that adoption or IVF by gay couples somehow "takes away" someone's mother or father—I completely disagree. But I’m not going to get into a massive debate about it right here, because you guys will just give me a headache. You’ve still got a hell of a long fight ahead of you before that kind of thing is even an option in this country.

bluerider41 said:They aren't untouchable; they can't just go around insulting people without facing consequences... If they're acting like typical low-life thugs, do they treat their wives like that at home too?

That’s exactly the point. I often run into guys from MK over on some other Reddit thread, and they talk totally normally—no misogyny, no homophobia, nothing. It actually catches me off guard. I think that platform is just their pressure valve; it's a specific way they joke around that's unique to that subreddit. You could probably conclude they feel the need to write like that precisely because in RL, they don't hit women or lash out at gay people. 🤷 See, there's a difference between actual hate speech and just how they write. It's because they're harmless. Do you really think I’d care if I read something like, "Hey, if a woman can't bake a pie, she should be stoned!"? Not really, because I know they don't mean it. About 99% of the time on that subreddit, everything is pure hyperbole. 😬

EDIT: Anyway, obviously I support you if you're feeling insulted (I'm really not the type to rub salt in someone's wounds when they're already down), I'm just saying their style is so over-the-top that it never gets under my skin.

Sandra Gonzalez3 said:Honestly, I'm not even sure if muškić and MK are the only ones playing games here. 😉

Beg your pardon? I don't know, she seems pretty serious to me. 🤷 Or are you talking about me? 😕 Because I'm not joking; I am being completely serious. I just don't take it personally when I know they're just trolling.

In your specific situation, one of you two is going to give birth to that child and be its mother, while the other won't be anything at all to them—do you actually grasp that? No? Pathetic. And clearly, you can see that absolutely nobody is taking your side here. If I were in your shoes, I'd be standing with 👍

I really shouldn't be jumping into this thread since things have clearly spiraled out of control, but you could make the exact same argument for cases where man-woman couples adopt children. They didn't play any biological role in bringing those kids into the world, yet if they prove they’re responsible and financially stable, they have every right to care for them. So, what gives? Are you against adoption too? 🤷

There’s a massive number of kids sitting in foster care right now that nobody seems to give a damn about. These kids could be adopted by either straight or gay couples and finally get a real home. On the other hand, I don't personally agree with same-sex couples adopting children in this current climate or in this part of the country, because those kids would likely deal with absolute hell starting from preschool. In America, we probably won't see things change for at least another 50 years because people here have such deep-seated, fossilized views on these issues. How healthy it actually is for a child to live in a same-sex household? I'm not sure. But I do know it isn't healthy for a kid to grow up in a community that is so drastically different from the majority in our eyes. It makes them a constant target for ridicule, if not actual physical violence. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. 🤷

When it comes to MK, they’re just trolling. Honestly, you shouldn't take any of them seriously. I've dropped by a few times myself, got insulted, and just died laughing—that was the end of it. bluerider41, you probably should have seen that coming, so... yeah. If you're sensitive, there are some threads you just shouldn't bother posting in. I'm 90% sure they don't actually mean what they say; they're just messing around, playing up this whole "tough guy" stereotype. 😬

We aren't all cut from the same cloth. Nobody ever tried to force me into therapy. Sure, I was being a pain in the ass, but there weren't any violent outbursts involved back then. 😁

I already told him the one thing he can't do is let her drag him down into her mood swings and those "memory gaps" she claims to have. He needs to stay level-headed and make it clear he knows he might be getting manipulated. Let's see if she suddenly develops "amnesia" after that. 😁

I am not certain which specific personality type is being discussed; perhaps we should consider the context of the USA (where you see eighty people in one group)🙂🙄
At first glance, this looks like BPD to me, and that requires a psychiatrist to confirm. Regardless, you don't need a forum to recognize the level of self and hetero-destruction present here.

Furthermore, I notice the recurring themes: female gender, BPD, and fatality. In practice, those elements certainly align.

Look, this isn't exactly a fun situation to be in. If she actually has BPD, God knows how she’s going to react if he suggests seeing a psychiatrist—especially since they haven't even known each other that long. The guy doesn't want to pull away because he clearly cares, but let's be real: a relationship like this, if you can even call it that, isn't going anywhere.

I don't know. If I were in his shoes, I’d pull back completely. I wouldn't even think about sex or a relationship again until he went and saw a professional.

I think she’s gorgeous and sharp, but honestly? She sounds like a total ticking time bomb. 🤷 No matter how much damage the author tries to inflict on others, they’re actually doing ten times more damage to themselves.

Maybe she really is screwing him over. If someone treated me like that, I’d immediately suspect they were playing games. Plus, she doesn't even remember the sex they had right before all this went down... But hey, who knows. 😁

That's exactly what I was getting at. 😁

The woman is sick. If you don't look out for yourself, you'll probably be sitting there in a few years spitting venom at her over one specific issue (BPD, just Google it 😉).

If someone slashed my arm, they'd be getting punched in the face by me immediately, and then we'd never speak again for the rest of our lives. Period.

Look, I get it. You're infatuated and the sex is great, whatever. But a woman who cut you with a knife isn't exactly "ideal girlfriend" material. If you can handle that—fine. Go for it. 🙂

My honest advice? If you're planning on sticking around, make seeing a psychiatrist a non-negotiable condition. She likely needs medication, too.

Because if things keep going the way they started, you're going to end up as a headline in the local news. ☕

Jesus, I'm rambling tonight. 😢 Sorry.

"Double" or "triple" personalities aren't really a thing. There's dissociative identity disorder, which is extremely rare. This sounds much more like BPD to me. 🤷 And yeah, she’s probably "fatal"—people with BPD usually are. I managed to avoid that whole scene, but then again, I've never cut a guy with a knife either.
irongardener14 said:Believe me when I say I have descended into such a state of despair that I am starting to question my own mental stability. It isn't even a matter of overeating; I maintain a perfectly normal diet with portions that align with my body's actual needs. Yet, at 70 kg, I look in the mirror and see someone who is far too thin, while my mother insists I am overweight and should watch my weight. I find myself unable to believe her—I am convinced she is being untruthful—because when I face my own reflection, all I see is a person who is underweight.

Look, you basically have no choice but to cut them out of any conversation involving food. Just be blunt. Tell them straight up that their opinion on your weight isn't wanted and that as long as you're healthy and happy, it's none of their business. 🙂

And seriously, try to stabilize right where you are. If you keep going down this path, you might actually spiral into being underweight.

EDIT: And obviously, like all the experts say, it would be a really good idea to go get your hormone levels checked by an endocrinologist. 🙂
irongardener14 said:Greetings, everyone. Growing up, I was quite underweight; I hovered around 108 pounds until my junior year of high school. During that era, I faced constant commentary from people claiming I looked skeletal or asking if I even bothered to eat. At the time, I simply chose to ignore them. However, some time has passed, and my weight has increased; I am currently 154 pounds at 5'6", yet I still perceive myself as being too thin. The most difficult moments occur when I head out the door and catch my reflection—I still see someone who is underweight. My mother is the only one aware of this struggle, and while she tries to reassure me otherwise, I remain dissatisfied and stuck in this perception of being too frail.🙂 I am at a loss as to how to proceed. I am curious if there are specific types of psychotherapy or similar clinical interventions available to help me dismantle these persistent thoughts...

If you're dealing with bouts of uncontrolled overeating, that's called Binge Eating Disorder. If it's strictly about being obsessed with your weight, it might fall under an unspecified eating disorder.

Look, your weight is fine right now. You're actually a little more filled out than you used to be, which is perfectly healthy. Just don't swing too far in either direction—don't obsess over being thin, and don't overdo it on the other side.

And yeah, you can definitely make an appointment with a psychiatrist. 🙂

EDIT: Also, feel free to shut down your family when they start lecturing you about your weight. Tell them you're healthy and happy, and that's all that matters. It doesn't surprise me at all that you're feeling overwhelmed when you've spent your whole life being picked on for being too skinny.

Hannah White2 said:I’ve actually seen this firsthand with certain people I know—friends, acquaintances, whatever.
It’s like they’re being pushed toward a new level of delinquency because what would be a huge rush for the average person feels like just another Tuesday to them. They were always the ones standing out in a crowd, pushing more suggestible people into situations they didn't actually want to be in. Now, many of those suggestible types have grown up to have clean records and stable lives, while the others... well, they either ended up dead in some dark alleyway or are currently rotting away in some prison cell.

That’s a beautiful, simple way to put it.

I don't buy the idea that there are "pure nature" types. Look, a Pit Bull has a massive instinct to attack another dog, sure, but with the right training, you can change that behavior entirely.

That's true, but then why does one person take a completely different path even when they face the exact same circumstances?

But how do you explain people developing antisocial personality disorders when they come from upper-class backgrounds without any major trauma at home or in their neighborhood? Take that unknown case we were discussing—it turns out the guy grew up in a large, pretty standard family. Even with Jeffrey Dahmer, people said he had a totally normal childhood.

One thing about true psychopaths that I just don't get: if you don't derive any pleasure from "normal" life, why bother with antisocial behavior? Why not pick a high-risk job that’s actually productive for society? Is it just the thrill of playing games with the law, or that weird sense of superiority over how society works?🤷

mistyhound said:Hey everyone! I wanted to drop my take on criminals, killers, robbers, and all that, and I’d love to hear what you guys think too!

I'm sure everyone's heard about Paravinja. People call him 'Satan,' the face of evil, an executioner—you name it.

Personally, I feel like murderers, thieves, rapists, and anyone committing those heavy crimes are just born that way. It's not their fault they were born like that! I mean, if someone offered me all the cash in the world, I could never hurt even my worst enemy, let alone kill them. I'd honestly rather die than take a life. Don't get me wrong, they definitely belong behind bars, but maybe we shouldn't bash and insult them so much? I mean, who in their right mind actually *wants* to cause harm to another person?

Maybe you'll think I'm just trolling, but seriously, think about it—these are sick people. Or hey, feel free to prove me wrong if my perspective is totally off!!

*Sorry in advance for any typos!

You have to step outside your own logic to realize that "goodness" isn't some absolute thing and morality isn't set in stone. Saying "killing a person is bad" is just a rule we established as a society; it's not like some deity handed down a decree. Truth isn't absolute. 🧐

Now, from a psychological, sociological, or even medical standpoint, these are definitely sick people because they don't act in accordance with what society expects. They don't behave like the majority. Why is that? I think when you say they're "born that way," you're only halfway right. There's a huge nurture component that can't be ignored.

Regarding the nature side, there are plenty of theories on why they turn out this way. It could be neurological abnormalities (like amygdala dysfunction), excess testosterone, or even the fact that many have either extremely high or extremely low IQs (those with lower IQs struggle more with impulse control, while the high-IQ types often think they're above society because they see the bigger picture). Maybe that part of their character is hereditary—things like aggression 🤷 or poor impulse control.

As for the nurture side, I've done a little reading on serial killers (don't look at me like that, I'm an angel, really 😁), and a lot of them had childhoods filled with confusion, lies, intense violence, or instability—think of a parent who was constantly switching partners, leaving the kid without a stable family structure.

I believe there are pure "nature" types, pure "nurture" types, and a mix of both, but it's incredibly difficult to untangle those two influences to find the actual root cause in any specific case.

I haven't seen this much pure insanity or this many half-baked ideas in a long time. 🤣

It’s honestly no wonder you can’t make sense of anything when you’re being haunted by these... let's call them "unique"... thoughts... from these... weird little... creatures...

When a bull mates with a cow, isn't he actually just part bull and part cow? And the cow isn't fully a cow anymore either, since she's now part bull. Or maybe that bull is secretly part horse, and the cow is part mare? Who knows...

Hahahahahahahah...

Look, as far as I'm concerned, you can go ahead and believe in little green men for all I care. 😂

Of course it is. Someone just bring out a pig that identifies as a sheep and let's see which idiot starts having an identity crisis. 😂😂 😂

First, find me a woman who can actually hold a serious conversation about gender theory without acting like some guy who’s insecure about his masculinity just because he’s a poet instead of a construction worker. Seriously, do you realize how idiotic it is to compare humans to animals on this level? Animal mating is straightforward. We’re the ones who went and built a million different rituals, a million rules, and a million unnecessary taboos around sex. 😉 It’s just not the same. It can't be. From what I can tell, those types—the cucks and the simps—don't even have the capacity to talk about sex the way we do. 😉

There are even gay dogs out there. Honestly, I’ve got a bisexual cat myself. 😈 😍

Nicole Turner35 said:vividorca9, sorry—but it’s pretty obvious to you. You're not being objective. For instance: you wrote that Harry York "mentioned your old handle fifteen times in that thread" (I won't repeat which one).

He mentioned him exactly ONCE, in one single post. Here it is: I’ve been looking into this, and honestly, it feels like we’re just circling the drain. People keep talking about these massive shifts in how information is handled, but they aren't seeing the bigger picture. We’re watching a slow-motion collision between total transparency and absolute control, and most people are too distracted by the noise to notice. Take the whole Assange situation. It wasn't just about some leaked documents; it was about the fundamental right to know what's happening behind closed doors in Washington. But instead of a real conversation about privacy or government overreach, the media just turned him into a villain or a martyr, depending on which network you’re watching. It’s all theater. Then you have guys like Max Magnus pushing certain narratives, and you start to wonder who’s actually pulling the strings. Is it genuine conviction, or is it just part of the machine? I don't have all the answers—I'm definitely not some expert sitting in an ivory tower—but I can tell when something smells fishy. It feels like everything is being sanitized. Whether it's corporate interests or political maneuvering, there's this constant effort to smooth over the rough edges so the public stays comfortable. But comfort is exactly what keeps us from demanding actual change. We need to stop settling for the polished version of reality and start digging into the messy parts. It’s uncomfortable, sure. But staying asleep isn't an option anymore.

Look, maybe I’m being biased here. My bad if I went a little overboard bringing up that old username from before.

I really wish we could stop using people's usernames from this or other forums just to score points in an argument. It’s getting old. We have a massive amount of actual substance to dive into—everything from BPD mechanics and non-verbal cues to treatment options—but all that gets sidelined because 90% of us can't stay objective. We spend more time attacking individuals than actually talking about the issues.

One isolated incident—whether it’s involving Assange, Harry York, or Max Magnus—doesn't make a rule. Besides, even rules have their exceptions. I strongly disagree with the accusation that we are... Everything. They’re out here labeling men as abusers (which isn't me), or calling them junkies, alcoholics, former delinquents (not me either), or even potential deadbeat moms. Most of their arguments are just pure "what if" nonsense. I really wish they could wrap their heads around that. Honestly, I'm glad we all got slapped with bans and carded out. I’m going to keep speaking my truth on this until I’m silenced, and I’m genuinely curious to see if Harry is going to get shut down too. 🙂

I really bit myself in the ass with some lazy thinking when I finally realized what was actually going on with the Assange case. But honestly? I’m still sitting here waiting for someone to confirm if his wife has BPD or not. I just wish they’d take a second to consider everything we have to deal with—all the stuff we go through internally, all those private battles we fight alone—maybe then they’d actually have an epiphany. ☕

I honestly love hanging out with people dealing with anxiety or depression. There’s this built-in support system where everyone just gets it, you know? We actually show up for each other. I really wish our community had that kind of energy—it wouldn't even matter if we were talking about neurodivergence or BPD, I just want that level of mutual support here.

Look, Splitter, let’s be real—you aren't exactly being objective here. Just admit it. The only difference is that Assange hit a nerve with you, whereas Max Magnus and Harry York are the ones getting under my skin. 🙂

Honestly, I’ve got nothing left to say on this topic. I'll be the first to admit it: if this keeps going the way it is, I’m just going to keep losing my cool, getting flagged, or eventually getting banned altogether. I'm just not built that way. I don't have the temperament to just sit here and stay quiet when things like this happen. I'll own that.

Lisa Jones said:I guess this is my cue to step in and say something. 🙂

Look, I’ve posted exactly four times on this thread in total:

First time posting this—after Nicole Turner35 claimed that anyone who actually puts up with borders clearly has some kind of underlying pathology of their own.
I was wondering, if... If anyone actually knows what's going on, please explain it.I don't care. What’s the verdict? Give me your thoughts.Whether it was my grandma or some border patrol agent, I just needed someone who... I know.Nobody bothered to get back to me. 😁)
Why on earth would you think that just because you have a BPD diagnosis, you suddenly need to be an expert on whatever pathology someone else might be dealing with? Since when did having BPD turn you into a licensed psychotherapist? 🤷

Back again. It's me, the resident parachute jumper. I'm asking you, border patrol. So, you're actually trying to argue that someone's BPD issues only really start kicking in once they move out of their parents' house? That’s a bold claim.
I'm not judging, I'm just asking—mostly because I'm genuinely curious. Just trying to wrap my head around it.

I honestly think grandparents stay with people on the BPD spectrum because they genuinely love them and hold onto this slim hope that things will eventually change.

I’ll explain why people aren't chiming in on this thread—it’s because they’re looking at themselves. I just stepped in with a minimal comment, and yet somehow I’m being singled out like I’m the absolute worst for even asking a question. The absolute worst kind of questions—those that are just plain rude, malicious, or designed to twist the knife.. 🙄

You’re totally missing the point. This isn't about you; it's about some incredibly stupid post from Titanium that a moderator nuked. 🙂 Look, I already laid out my reasoning for you. I can't say for certain because everyone is different, but that’s why I'm sharing this. My take? BPD issues tend to spiral when people finally move out of their parents' house. Once they're on their own, all those fears about being alone, struggles with addiction, and that impulsive streak start hitting hard. When you're living under your parents' roof—assuming they were actually decent parents—they're usually able to keep a lid on things and at least keep an eye on what's going on with their kid. But once that safety net is gone? Suddenly there's the fear of growing up, and everything just feels much more volatile.

If you're looking for a professional opinion, go book an appointment with a psychiatrist. What else am I supposed to tell you? 🤷 You aren't getting answers from Harry or Julian Assange, and don't think for a second that my diagnosis makes me some kind of expert in this field. I just happen to know more about it than most people. At least I’m not pretending to be a specialist, and because of that, I'm not out here throwing around mindless generalizations.

Don't go throwing around the term "splitting" like you know me. Just because I don't check that specific box on a diagnostic checklist doesn't mean I don't have BPD. It works that way. 🙂
