Hmm.
Take a look at this:

Which word exactly are you struggling with?
The thread about Facebook users has been merged with: dramatic pause : Facebook users.
I honestly have no idea how I managed to accidentally merge two separate discussions on the exact same topic. My bad!
Since this has now turned into one massive, ongoing conversation about Facebook users, I don't see any point in splitting them back up again.

If you were actually looking to discuss Father Mikleone, please feel free to start a new thread over in the "political scene" subforum.
Maria Nelson12 said:Real classy. Honestly, I’m just sitting here wondering why all those massive posts from the left wing trying to excuse the crimes haven't been nuked yet, and how it works out that basically everyone except Adler gets banned while the conservatives get the hammer.

During that specific discussion I went ahead and wiped out every single post that tried to make excuses for those crimes, regardless of whether they came from the "liberal" side or the "conservative" side.

Is there some specific reason you're looking to read "justifications" for committed crimes in this thread?
Maria Nelson12 said:So, I guess if this whole discussion about the Manolić investigation and Boljkovac is centered on crimes committed sixty years ago, we aren't allowed to actually talk about the motivations behind those crimes because that would be "derailing"? I mean, if they didn't have some kind of reason for committing those crimes, they wouldn't have done them in the first place, and then there wouldn't even be a topic to discuss. That seems like a pretty valid way to expand the conversation.

But honestly, I think that's only being called derailing because I managed to prove something in my posts that directly contradicts what the other side is claiming. So apparently, proving facts is "derailing," and that's why certain posts get deleted just to hide the truth—whereas when Resonatorov and his buddy F10XX post stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject, it doesn't count as derailing and stays up: I haven't seen any 'leftists' hanging out at the local boardwalks or beach bars.

I mean, what does people gathering at the boardwalk or beach bars have to do with this investigation? Nothing, really. But hey, whatever helps them sleep at night...

Look, there’s no question here: we are talking about actual crimes.
Any attempt to justify those crimes or list mitigating circumstances is something that belongs in a courtroom, not here.

I have no interest in seeing people try to downplay or relativize these crimes, even if they happened six decades ago, on the subforum I moderate.

And yeah, a total generalization by the masses, obviously. 😳

Honestly, it feels like you have a really skewed perception of what the "On the Edge of Politics" subforum is actually for.
This isn't some dumping ground for random, trivial nonsense.
It never was, either.

p.s. I’m putting my moderator hat on while I write this.

What I actually wrote requires a bit of reading comprehension, whereas what you managed to conclude from it suggests 😕

😵 well, it actually implies absolutely nothing at all.

I'm sorry, but what on earth does your comment have to do with the quote you just cited?

Helena Novak is just an ignorant chauvinist.
She’s out there spreading hate speech—honestly, if it were up to me, I’d have her banned before I even gave it a second thought.
She seems to think that having some political affiliation makes her immune to being called out for hate speech 🙄 ,
and apparently, she actually believes that being part of the Democratic Party automatically makes her a leftist 🤦
At this rate, she’ll probably start claiming that leftists are physically incapable of committing crimes.

But I really don't get how anyone could look at this embarrassing situation involving the Democratic Party and jump to such a conclusion:
George Booth58 said:Democrats are just hypocritical fanatics—nothing else to say about them.

BTW, how’s that whole thing going; Albright's, forget about Mexico... Mexican trumpets hate saxophones, and the Mexican sky hates NATO planes. 🤣🤣🤣

Talk about missing the point entirely 👍

I used to think there was some actual substance behind terms like "left wing" and "right wing,"

but honestly? Now I realize those labels are just convenient ways to shut down any real conversation.

Honestly, that feels more like a straight-up insult than just typical trolling.
Plus, if you look closely, there’s definitely a hint of hate speech there based on someone's political leanings.

There’s actually quite a bit more to the article you were responding to, beyond just the specific part you decided to troll.

Look, let's not turn this conversation into a spotlight on you.
Thanks in advance.

1. If you’d just dropped this question in the right thread from the jump, people probably would have noticed it sooner.
2. Anyway, hollowtrucker77 already gave you an answer.
3. Look, there's a difference between someone just getting a bit carried away in a discussion and actual trolling—trolling is when someone is actively trying to derail the whole conversation.

I honestly can't believe we're still having this debate, but here we go again! I was just sitting here thinking about how much things have changed lately, and it feels like every time I log onto Reddit, someone is bringing up this exact same topic. It’s funny, really—it reminds me of those endless family dinners back home where everyone thinks they’re an expert on everything from politics to the best way to grill a steak. You know the vibe: loud, passionate, and slightly chaotic. Anyway, I wanted to jump in because I feel like we’re missing the forest for the trees here. We get so caught up in the tiny details that we forget what we were actually trying to solve in the first place. I remember back when I was working my first big job in Chicago, I used to get into these massive arguments with my manager about project timelines. Looking back, most of it was just noise. We were so focused on being "right" that we forgot to be productive. So, let's take a breath. Instead of just circling the drain with the same old arguments, why don't we try looking at this from a different angle? I've been reading up on some new approaches to this, and honestly, it changes the whole conversation. What do you guys think? Is it worth sticking to the old way, or are we ready to actually move forward? I'm curious to see if anyone else feels like we're just spinning our wheels. kaže:
Reddit actually has its own dedicated sub-forum. On the edge of politics....which basically serves as a little oasis for primitives to gather and hurl insults based on nationality or religion.

Look, let’s get one thing straight: this subforum isn't some designated zone for people to just go around hurling insults at each other. That’s totally not what we're here for. The whole point of having this space is to give the main political forum a bit of breathing room. It’s meant to be a way to offload all those topics that aren't strictly about politics so the main board doesn't get cluttered. It's about keeping things organized, not creating a playground for negativity.

redmarlin3 said:Since you're so quick to bring up "classic provocations," it would be nice if you actually had posts on more than six different threads in the subforum you're supposedly "agitating." That way, those of us who want to get a handle on your whole persona might actually figure out if you're just kidding around...
As it stands, the only thing you're really provoking is that old-school mindset of "I don't care if my wife dies, but I won't let anyone disrespect her."

Do you really feel like you have to go out of your way to post on a specific subreddit just to realize that the sub isn't actually giving you what you're looking for?

Why do these locations serve as the common denominator for their shared perspective?

So, what is it then—is this a history topic or more about urban planning?

That’s a whole different ballgame. Honestly, I’d suggest everyone takes a quick moment to actually read through the rules regarding how to start a discussion and how to properly title them.

Maybe an influential, massive political party is a bit more complex than just looking at one single leader.
I mean, you have one conversation about CBS, another about the party itself, and then a third one centered on the Prime Minister.
If we actually tied all of this together with the debate over the new bridge project, it would become one massive, cohesive discussion about everything the ruling party actually has a hand in.
The more influence someone has, the more they tend to be the center of gravity for these topics.

Honestly, I feel a little awkward even typing this out—it’s like someone is going to jump in and say, "Look at this guy, just stating the obvious."

Well, I think there's definitely a connection here, because the Volkswagen Group is such a massive media and economic powerhouse in the States.

slybison8 said:I guess we shall see. I don't rule out the possibility that you might be right. However, I feel it is necessary to address the somewhat "totalitarian" nature of your statement, in which you attempt to strip away someone's political legitimacy simply because they chose to engage in a bit of "rebellion" against the establishment.

In today's political climate, such a claim feels quite brazen, as it seems to advocate for a kind of "obedience" that, I suspect, shouldn't be the primary way people behave if we want to maintain a functional democracy.

Political "rebellion" should probably be viewed as a positive trend, and it is honestly quite sad for America that the only figures who ever seem to take that path are bosses like those seen in New York City politics—not even someone like Donald Trump, who I believe broke through largely on his own merits.

I suppose it is a good thing that all the Republicans who disagreed with George W. Bush, or who disagree with Tim Geithner today—yet continue to endure and support their policies due to secondary interests or lack of influence—had the courage to "rebel" and remove them from power back around 2004 or 2005, once it became clear whose interests were actually being served...

Perhaps rebellion ought to be encouraged rather than mocked.

I mean, look at any history book—we’ve literally had rebels rise up to become President.
Plus, I actually find Charles Manson way more fascinating now that he's distanced himself from the Democratic Party.

Plus, based on how you phrased your enrollment, it sounds like the President of the United States is more familiar with some obscure town I've never heard of than he is with the tragedy at Ovčara.
On the Politics subforum, that's getting pretty close to being offensive—basically an invitation to start a flame war.

Listen, my dear Michael, do you have any idea how much of your spam gets wiped clean without you even getting a formal warning?
Do yourself a favor: take a moment to actually read the netiquette rules with a bit of common sense and try to resist the urge to chime in on every single thread. Only jump in if you're actually bringing something new to the table that hasn't already been covered in the discussion.

cosmicskipper39 said:It’s really kind of you to be so respectful toward our President, though honestly, using the term "Yugoslav" isn't an insult anymore—it's just totally outdated for today's world. By the way, voter turnout for the election was right around 40%.

Look, I'm not trying to be respectful to the President; I'm being respectful to the voters.
The whole thing feels like an insult depending on how you personally interpret that word.
We have certain users in this group who basically use "Yugoslav" as a coded synonym for some hateful nationalist rhetoric.
