gentlebadger88 said:Look, you've got a point there. But I don't know, I just lost my damn mind over that ending. It just didn't sit right with me, so screw it😢. The whole movie was incredible right up until that final stretch. It’s not like I have a problem with happy endings in general, but this? This just wasn't how it should have gone down...

You could always just turn it off when they're lying on the beach lol😁😁

wanna bet? 😈
I was actually just grabbing coffee with him yesterday talking about this. 😁

Yeah...I want to bet😉

IMDb totally screwed up. 😉 Did you even see Sub-Zero in the promo film?? No... because he doesn't show up except for one single frame. If you don't believe me... all the details are right here...

You can ask Nik Giangrosso himself—he runs the site and the forum and actually knows Scott personally—if Scott played Sub-Zero in that promo film.😉

In that little Rebirth short, Adkins played Sub-Zero, but whether he'll be in Devastation is anyone's guess since that project keeps getting sabotaged

Missed the mark again, haha😁
He wasn't even in that short promo. Sub-Zero was just mentioned, and they only showed him for a single frame in a still...

This is what it looked like...

image

Then pretty soon after, rumors started flying online that if a movie actually happens, it'll be Adkins playing Sub-Zero... I heard that from sources close to Scott himself, haha😁👍
And these posters were basically designed to fuel that fire...

BTW... here are some details about the promo video itself...

* They shot the short film over two days on two RED cameras

* Started in early April and it took 2 months to do the post production. Most people donated their time. The short was made for $7,500

* Knew if he was going to get a chance at a genre picture, he’d have to show he could do it on his own. This is his card for a chance AT Making The next Mortal Kombat feature film and IT ’ S his Vision for How He ’ d do IT

* No one at any studio knew he was doing the short

* Oren Uziel wrote the short. He’s currently listed on IMDb to write the next Mortal Kombat movie at Warner Bros.

* Says he wants to make a movie that balances the real world with the mysticism and the special powers. Compares IT to The way Harry Potter exists in Two Worlds. As in there
are two universes that coexist with each other.

* Confirms “fatalities” are definitely in his movie. He wants to put them in the tournament in an “organic way”

* Definitely would use “get over here” (the classic line from the game)

* White plays Jax Briggs in The short and He ’ d definitely be a part of The feature

* Says Scorpion is the bad guy and will stay a bad guy

* They only had 4 hours to shoot the big fight scene

Rebecca Foster said:That's totally doable, though I've never really pictured an actor with a mustache playing Sub-Zero😁

I mean, come on... he’ll probably look different in the actual movie and we won't even see his face clearly anyway... these are just fan-made posters...

Either way... based on his skill set, he'd be a perfect fit for the role...🙂

Is Sub Zero even in this? LOL

He should be in there... they mention him in that promo video...

I really hope they don't...😲

Taylor Vaughn13 said:This looks like some Dark Knight version of MK to me. Like they’re trying to go for a gritty, realistic vibe if they ever actually make a movie. I wish they’d just make it a single unit. That movie is basically just a tribute to the game I've been obsessed with forever. Honestly, what were they thinking? Total joke. 😁
It doesn't mean it'll be bad, but I’d much rather they stick to the game's actual vibe. It's like how I prefer Burton's Batman movies because they feel more like the comics—even if The Dark Knight is a solid film, honestly...

Nah, skip that... it would just look like total trash today.

For sure. The music selection caught me off guard in a good way...
The Joker (2010) in Movies ·
A CGI action horror film directed by David Fincher. It’s an adaptation of the namesake comic by Eric Powell from Marvel Comics. Industrial Light & Magic is handling the animation—the same crew behind hits like "Tomb Raider Underworld", "Star Wars: The Old Republic", "Dragon Age: Origins", "Prototype", and even movies like "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "Terminator: Salvation".
Just a heads up: this isn't for kids. The original comic is packed with violence and grit, following zombies, cannibals, vampires, and all sorts of monsters that The Joker and his loyal sidekick Franky tear through without breaking a sweat.
Clancy Brown as The Joker and Paul Giamatti as Franky are on voice duties. There's no official release date yet, but word is we might see it by the end of the year.

PLOT
The Joker is a muscle-bound strongman working for the mobster labraziti. He and his buddy sidekick Franky constantly find themselves in deep water; they usually go head-to-head (heh) with the Nameless zombie Priest and his numerous evil zombie gangs! The whole thing is heavy on the supernatural stuff—ghosts, ghouls, and plenty of pie. It takes place in its own fictional universe, kind of like Hellboy.

Faster (2010) in Movies ·
After spending the last five years blowing steam in various family comedies and that one drama, Dwayne Johnson is pivoting hard back into action. We’re looking at three heavy hitters coming his way over the next couple of years: "Fast Five," the sequel to the "Fast & Furious" franchise where he joins forces with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker; "Protection," directed by Simon West ("Con Air", "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider"), where he steps in for Clive Owen; and finally "Faster," an action thriller from George Tillman Jr., the guy behind "Notorious" and "Men of Honor."
He's got a solid lineup backing him up, including Billy Bob Thornton, Tim Berenger, Carla Gugino, Maggie Grace, Jennifer Carpenter, Moon Bloodgood, Michaela Johnson, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
The movie hits US theaters on November 24th, while in other European countries, you'll probably have to wait until after New Year's Day.

The Other Guys (2010) in Movies ·
Adam McKay and Will Ferrell are teaming up again!! This director/writer/actor duo has already crushed it with hits like "Anchorman : The Legend of Ron Burgundy", "Talladega Nights : The Ballad of Ricky Bobby", "The procedure", and "step Brothers". Now, they’re hitting theaters everywhere with a new action comedy called "The Other Guys". Honestly, it feels like a massive parody of those classic buddy cop flicks like "Lethal Weapon" or "bad boys"—basically the American take on "hot Fuzz".
Adam McKay is handling the directing and writing duties here, while Will Ferrell takes on a lead role. He's backed by a seriously stacked cast including Mark Wahlberg, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Eva Mendes, Ray Stevenson, Anne Heche, Steve Coogan, and even Paris Hilton—which, okay, maybe isn't exactly "heavyweight acting," but she's on the list nonetheless.
The US release is set for August 2, 2010, and it should be hitting all our local theaters by the end of the year.

PLOT
New York City's Detectives Christopher Danson and P. K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the toughest, most popular cops in New York City. They don't even need tattoos—other guys get tattoos of them instead. Just a few desks away, you've got Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You've seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They aren't the heroes; they're just "The Other Guys." But everyone gets a shot at greatness eventually, and before long, Gamble and Hoitz trip into a case that looks minor but turns out to be New York City's biggest crime. It's the big break they've been waiting for, but do these guys actually have what it takes?

Training Day (2010) in Movies ·
"Elite Squad," also known as "Training Day," was a massive shock to moviegoers everywhere back in 2007, eventually becoming the most popular Brazilian film ever. It crushed it with both audiences and critics, picking up a bunch of awards at various festivals, including a Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. The movie is based on the book by André Batista, Rodrigo Pimentel, and Luiz Eduardo Soares about the SWAT (Special Police Operations Battalion). They're an elite unit in Rio de Janeiro that goes after the absolute worst criminals, often using heavy-handed tactics to get the job done.
Since the movie raked in $14 million on a $4.4 million budget alongside all those awards, a sequel was pretty much a given.
José Padilha is back behind the camera to direct the sequel, and this time he's handling the script solo. We're also getting plenty of the original cast back, including Wagner Moura, André Ramiro, Milhem Cortaz, Maria Ribeiro, and Rodrigo Carvalho. We don't know the budget yet, but the US premiere is set for August 13, 2010.

See, look, that scene where two characters fall into the belly of the ship and just slaughter about 20 other people? That kind of thing only works in a space action flick. But you're right, the movie jumps from that action vibe into some quasi-philosophical territory, then into surrealism, and so on. And I think that's the biggest issue. They just didn't know which genre they wanted to stay in, I guess.

Personally, my favorite part was when the characters were hooking up at the end while scanning their organs. But, man, it's so incompatible with everything else in the movie that it actually made it worse.

If this had been directed by Cronenberg (or maybe Lynch), and if they had used that final scene to drive the story home, we’d be looking at a masterpiece of the decade.

The way it is now? Just erase & rewind.

Alright, fine... that was one of only two action scenes in the entire movie (the other being the hammer stuff and whatever else happened in the hallway at the end)...but that was all the action we got. That’s why I say I don't see this primarily as an action movie, even if I'll be honest... I expected that, but I got something else instead. It was alright, but yeah, it could have been better... definitely.

Yeah... that scene was totally morbid and interesting at the same time... shot like a sex scene... my only gripe is how unrealistic it was. If I accidentally cut my finger, it hurts like hell... let alone something like that...

quietdriver3 said:I don't know, The Wolf Man felt like a genuine gothic horror and checked all the boxes for that genre, whereas this one seems like it’s trying to be some dystopian chase movie, but it lacks quality action, it doesn't have that dystopian vibe, and there isn't even an interesting futuristic vision... everything is just hinted at, like a pile of half-baked ideas thrown together. It feels messy, kind of rushed, with characters that feel small-minded and a script that just feels uninspired... I mean, what can I even say when the peak of screenwriting brilliance is a line like, "anyone can dance a horizontal mambo" or something like that. Honestly.

Or that metaphor involving Schrödinger's cat, which the writer clearly doesn't get—it was actually kind of awkward to watch. I mean, would it have been that hard to just Google it a little before writing the script? Man, what a mess.

I didn't really see it as an action movie anyway, since there's barely any action... it's more like a thriller trying to make a point about the commercialization of healthcare and how much society relies on consultations. Sure... I'll admit the main point gets lost along the way and the movie has its flaws, including a pretty forced romance, but overall, I'm not exactly disappointed...

Bad, bad, bad. The movie kicks off feeling like some weird Python's sketch about volunteer liver donors, but then it somehow morphs into something like Brazil. If you just look at it from a distance, you might think it’s actually perfect. But honestly? It totally misses the mark. It’s confusing, pretentious, boring, half-baked, unmotivated, uninspired... did I mention it was boring? And if you believe what people are saying online, the whole thing is basically an open-and-shut case of plagiarism.

Avoid it like the plague—better yet, cordon it off with crime scene tape and wrap it up in a shroud.

You're exaggerating a little... but hey, maybe you're right, since if I recall, you actually loved The Wolf Man, which I thought was just mediocre at best...

Men in Black (2010) 3.5/5 - TRAILER

Pretty solid sci-fi with some cool ideas, but it’s missing that extra spark needed to be truly great. Stylistically, the whole concept—basically a guy running away before turning around to take down the system he used to work for—is giving me heavy > and > vibes, though I don't think that's a bad thing. The plot is predictable in spots, and honestly, so is the ending, even if it tries out some weird solutions (like that organ "scanning" scene that felt like a bizarre, morbid sex scene—totally unrealistic and over the top). The core message could've hit harder, but it kind of got lost halfway through.
Liev Schreiber, Jude Law, and Forest Whitaker are all killer in their own ways here, maybe even great. Everyone else is just mid. Shoutout to the music, too. I dig the song choices; at first glance, they seem like they don't fit certain scenes, but they actually work perfectly. Plus, Marc Beltrami's original score hits hard in places, giving off major superhero movie energy, specifically reminding me of >.
For a debut, Miguel Sapochnik did an okay job directing, even if he stumbled a bit during the action sequences. They’re pretty bloody, and he clearly tried to make them look stylish and fancy, but he didn't quite nail it. Since action isn't the main focus anyway, I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Overall, it's an okay flick with a few flaws, but worth a watch.
