Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) in Movies ·
Just finished watching this one. To put it bluntly? It was pretty weak—really weak—but hey, at least it’s watchable if you just want some mindless fun.

If you haven't seen the original yet, you might actually find this remake a bit more entertaining since you don't have anything to compare it to. But honestly, the original is in a completely different league, so my big piece of advice to anyone who hasn't seen either version is to definitely track down the original first.

My rating: 3/10 (I gave the original a 7/10)
Locke (2014) in Movies ·
I am definitely adding this to my watchlist, mostly because I’m a huge fan of Tom Hardy, but also just because the premise sounds right up my alley based on the synopsis.

James Garcia50 said:How would you even wrap this up, Rachel Ortiz33? That’s the only ending that actually works. Unless you’re planning on having a car full of drunk teenagers plow into him for a fatal crash.

Honestly, just by being myself, though I know some girls might not be into that vibe. 😁

Honestly, I can’t believe how much Tim Burton, Mark Wahlberg, and HBC completely blew it with this one. Like, seriously, they really didn't need to go there, did they?

So, after catching those newer entries and then circling back to the original, I figured I might as well dive into this remake too.

Long story short—it’s just okay. It’s decent enough if you're just looking to kill some time once in your life, but that's about it. My rating: 3/10.

Man, that original blew me away; it was absolutely incredible and it's definitely sitting somewhere in my top 20 Sci-Fi films, I just need to figure out its exact ranking.
While I thought the two recent ones were pretty solid, this remake? Yeah, it's kind of a letdown.

Since we've cleared that up, your partial deletion has been processed, so hopefully we can just move forward without any more drama.

Look, I’m trying my best to be a model forum member here and keep things smooth.

Thanks, rustydrifter10! 👍 I am alive ! Again ! 👋

Edit: There aren't going to be any issues on my end, you have my word, rustydrifter10.

@briskhound2/">@@briskhound2 hey, would you mind dropping the decision right here? And then maybe give rustydrifter10 a heads-up about it too, just so we can finally get this penalty cleared off my record?

Hey, I was wondering if someone could look into lifting my ban from the Scarface PDF section 🙂

So, I got hit with a six-month ban, and since that time is pretty much up, I figured I’d reach out and see if there's any chance I could get back in? It's been a while, so if anyone could help me out, that would be seriously awesome.

I really feel like everyone deserves a second chance at some point, right? Even a wild guy like cosmiclynx57 can learn his lesson! I promise I won't go rogue on the Scarface PDF or cause any trouble anywhere else on the forum ever again.

Thanks so much in advance for getting back to me.

Honestly, this Film doesn't really have much going for it, and it definitely isn't on the same level or even better than The Godfather I or Godfather Part II.

That being said, every single second of it is totally worth your time, and since I haven't sat down to watch it in at least two years, I've actually been planning a rewatch since the start of the year!

My rating: 9/10

A substitute teacher named Daniel (Alain Delon) falls head over heels for his student, Vanina (Sonia Petrovna). The whole mess is complicated because the teacher is stuck in a miserable marriage, and the girl is already seeing this total thug who happens to be part of some nasty gang.
It’s not a terrible movie by any means, but I just didn't find it super engaging, so I probably wouldn't suggest it—the characters felt kind of flat and the plot felt pretty recycled with an ending you can see coming from a mile away.
5/10

So why the low score? 😲 I mean, if we were talking about a movie made after the year 2000, I might get where you're coming from, but for a classic like this? 😕

Personally, I think anyone messing around with drugs is just a total fool, because let’s be real—smart people don't go down that road.

Melissa Sanchez16 said:I'm with you. First off, I'll remember him for his acting, and what he did with his own life is his business. Addiction is a nasty thing, whether it's drugs, alcohol, or anything else. What triggers someone to go back to using after twenty years? Who knows. Only he knows. We can speculate, judge, or label him a junkie, but honestly, what does that change? He's gone. He isn't coming back, and none of this makes things any better for us.

I'd bet my life savings that at least 80% of Hollywood has experimented with some kind of substance.

I'm not sure if he's a role model, but I definitely admire him as an actor. And like anyone else who passes, he deserves respect.

Yeah, I get it. Honestly, I don't care what these actors are like behind closed doors—it's not like I'm hanging out with them or anything, so why should I care? My whole point is just that it's such a tragedy when a person ends up like that.

Take Kurt Cobain, for example. To me, he was one of the greatest musicians to ever walk the earth, a total legend, and I have nothing but massive respect for him as an artist. I mean, I absolutely worship him, and Nirvana is easily one of my favorite bands of all time, but as a human being? To me, he's a zero because he left this world in such a stupid, senseless way.

briskhound2 said:Why?

If we’re going to lump Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin into that category of legends who basically traded their genius for a fix—and yeah, Jim Morrison usually ends up on that list too—or if we call James Dean an idiot who couldn't handle a car, or say drugs turned Elvis Presley into a shell of himself... then I don't see why we can't say Hoffman left us in a way that was just plain, incredibly stupid. Once they find you with a needle in your hand, you're pretty much etched onto that list forever.

Look, I’m not questioning his talent at all—not even a little bit—that stays with him regardless. But saying he went out in a senseless way? Yeah, I'll stand by that. If he'd been thinking clearly, he would've been looking out for his kids... and since even they couldn't keep him clean after 23 years, it feels like he just didn't care. Which is totally fine. We can be honest about that. But let's not pretend to be hypocritical moralists here. If this had been some random nobody on the street, everyone would be saying he finally got what he was looking for.

Signature 👍

Michelle Long6 said:I mean, it’s just plain tacky and rude to call someone an idiot right after they pass away, regardless of how it happened. I guess if we were talking about people who take their own lives, some might call them weak, or label addicts as morons who asked for it... but in a moment like this, you really should show some respect for the deceased and their family and friends. They know what he went through and how he lived way better than any of us ever could. It’s just basic decency—not that many people seem to have heard of etiquette lately. I doubt anyone would be typing out "idiot" if it were their own closest loved one, right?

No, you don't. Because he didn't show any respect to himself, his kids, his family, or his friends.

Honestly, it was a decent enough watch, but nothing to write home about, you know? It’s definitely sitting somewhere just a bit above your average flick, but it didn't exactly blow my mind or anything. I'd probably give it a solid 6/10.

wiredraven82 said:Man, I’m telling you right now, I am giving this movie a massive 9.5/10! Seriously, where do you even begin with a masterpiece like that? It was just absolutely incredible from start to finish.

wiredraven82 I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this! Seriously, where do we even start? Is there anything more iconic than this? It’s just absolutely everything, right? Honestly, I could talk about this for hours on end because it hits all the right notes, doesn't it? It's just one of those things that stays with you, no matter how many times you experience it. It's pure magic!
Man, what an absolute masterpiece! Seriously, sorry guys, I had to jump back in and reopen this thread because I just couldn't stop thinking about it. 😁

If this had been filmed just three years later, like back in 2000, I’d be telling you straight up that the whole thing was total garbage because you wouldn't even see a damn thing on screen! 😛

I simply said I didn't enjoy the movie, and in my opinion, it certainly doesn't earn a perfect 10/10 rating...
Just because a film didn't resonate with me personally, it doesn't mean it's actually a 2/10...

Are you actually being serious right now, or are you just playing dumb? Like, seriously, are you blind? I mean, what is even the point of having a rating system if you’re out here handing out a 7 to a movie you didn't even like? It makes zero sense, right? 😕

Honestly, saying a 7 is too high for a movie you didn't vibe with? Man, that's a bold take! If you’re tossing out a 7 just because it wasn't your cup of tea, then what on earth are you actually giving the stuff you genuinely love? Like, if a flick actually hits the spot for you, are we talking a solid 12/10? And don't even get me started on your absolute masterpieces—are those going up to a 15/10 or what? 🤷😂🙂

Exactly. That's what I'm talking about!

Honestly, he should just stick to a simple 1 to 5 star rating system, don't you think? Because right now, his scores—like giving a 6, then a 5, then a 4, 3, 2, or 1—are basically useless when he ends up handing a 7 to some movie he didn't even actually like! It makes zero sense, right?

Oh, boza. I swear, I am never going to wrap my head around logic like that! Like, seriously, if I don't enjoy a movie, there is no way in hell I'm giving it anything higher than a 2/10.

Kevin Stewart84 said:It just occurs to me... I mean, sure, he's The Spaniard, but he's already played plenty of Mexican characters in his other movies...

+ Well, if you look at the history, Paul Munuti and Al Pacino were both in their mid-forties when they tackled those iconic Scarface roles, and Javier is actually right in that sweet spot age-wise right now 🙂

Man, I hear you, that's a really solid point you made there. Honestly, with acting talent like his, he could carry basically any movie on his back.

You really need to work on your poker face, seriously, because you're not fooling anyone! We all know The Thing from '82 is a total masterpiece and the only reason you even sat through it was because Kurt Russell was in it, so don't try to sell me that line!
