Obviously, SAW1 is my absolute favorite—I mean, I think everyone feels the same way, right? Because honestly, looking at the list, it seems like nobody is even voting for any other sequel over the original one yet.

If you ask me, they really should have just stuck to a trilogy, because the way they've stretched this out is just ridiculous... but hey, if you look at the big picture, the series is still pretty solid.
The Saw Horror Franchise

Saw 2004-2010

If you ask me, this is easily one of the best horror franchises out there. Seriously, if you’re someone who lives for high tension, pure adrenaline, twisted puzzles, and those gut-wrenching horror elements,
you absolutely have to check this series out. It spans seven intense installments.

The whole Saw series follows Jigsaw, a serial killer who traps his victims in elaborate, deadly games where they have to fight for their very lives just to see another sunrise.
He doesn't just pick people at random, though—he actually targets individuals who have messed up their lives in significant ways.
The movies carry some heavy messages too, really forcing us to look at the absolute extremes of what a human being is willing to do just to survive.

And of course, the movies are packed with endless plot twists, wild turns, and deep mysteries...
To actually wrap your head around what's happening, you really need to watch them all in order starting from the first one,
because otherwise, you're going to be totally lost!

* Heads up! Possible minor spoilers ahead! Read the rest with caution if you haven't seen the full Saw series yet. *

Saw (2004)

image_Trailer

Saw (originally titled Saw) is an American thriller/horror film released in 2004.
It was directed by James Wan, who also wrote the script alongside Leigh Whannell.
Can you believe they filmed the entire first movie in just 18 days?
The film even landed at #3 on Bravo's list of most terrifying movie moments.

Saw II (2005)

image_Trailer

Saw II is the 2005 horror sequel that picks up right after the events of the 2004 original.

The story shifts back to Jigsaw, the serial killer who has finally been caught.
But instead of just letting him go, he pulls the lead detective into a psychological game, while simultaneously
running a separate game involving eight other people, including the detective's own son.
The movie also does a much better job of fleshing out Jigsaw's backstory
and explaining why he became a killer in the first place (which gets even more detail in Saw IV).

Saw III (2006)

image_Trailer

This one focuses on the dying antagonist of the series, Jigsaw, and his unstable apprentice, Amanda,
who is helping him carry out his final tests.
The film also throws in even more pieces of the puzzle regarding Jigsaw's past.

Here's a wild bit of trivia: during its theatrical run in the US, three people actually passed out in theaters,
which ended up requiring emergency medical assistance!

Saw IV (2007)

image_Trailer

The American premiere continued the tradition where the American premiere of a film
It's set on the first Thursday before Witches' Night.

The whole movie basically picks up where we left off with that serial killer Jigsaw, who’s totally obsessed with forcing his victims to actually appreciate the value of life.
Even though Jigsaw himself was taken out in the last installment, this flick really shows off his insane ability to manipulate things from beyond the grave
by tricking people into carrying on his twisted legacy.

Saw V (2008)

image_Trailer

The fifth entry in the Saw series throws some massive curveballs at you, tying up loose ends and mysteries from the earlier movies while dropping a bunch of brand-new puzzles on our heads.
So, Jigsaw is dead, right? Well, apparently someone else is more than happy to pick up right where he left off.
According to Jigsaw's philosophy, everyone should have had a fair shot at surviving, but this new successor to Jigsaw isn't playing by those rules—he's way more immoral and builds
traps that basically guarantee the first victim won't make it, all while getting his revenge for stuff that went down in the past.

Saw VI (2009)

image_Trailer

Saw VI is just another chapter in this super popular horror franchise.
It actually wraps up the second trilogy, which focuses heavily on the aftermath
of everything Jigsaw started and the chaos caused by his successor, Mark Hoffman.
In this one, Hoffman sets up a nasty new trap for an insurance company executive named William Easton,
while the FBI is busy hunting down Peter Strauss, the last guy suspected of being an accomplice to Jigsaw.

Saw: The Final Chapter (2010)

The Last Stand, the Legends...
From the very start, you've been watching others suffer through these tests. Now, it's finally your turn to play the game.

Do you really think you can survive until the very end?

As this brutal battle over Jigsaw's terrifying legacy heats up, a group of people who actually managed to survive his games starts to band together.
They go looking for help from a self-help guru who also happens to be a survivor named Bobby Dagen, but it turns out Bobby's own dark secrets might just
open the door to a whole new wave of terror.

Either way, you can really tell that effort translated onto the screen...

For me, this is easily one of the best cop movies I've seen in years.

Oh, absolutely, I'm with you on that. Honestly, this hits as one of my all-time favorites from the last decade or so.
IMDb Giveaway - Win a horror movie! in Movies ·
First off, huge props to the team for putting together this kind of giveaway for us horror junkies! 👍

I’m jumping in on this with so much hype, and honestly, I’m crossing my fingers that I might actually snag a prize, though at the end of the day, just being part of the fun is what matters, right?

I’m gonna take my sweet time over the next day or two to sit down and craft a properly terrifying & bloody horror review for you guys. imageimage

The prizes look awesome, but there's one that really stands out as a total winner—"Carrie" 😱
"The Rite" is actually the one movie I haven't checked out yet. And yeah, you're totally right about "Black Swan"—it isn't strictly a horror flick, but it definitely leans into those creepy, unsettling vibes.
Frank Chase6 said:Honestly, after reading comments like these, I don’t think anyone’s even going to bother watching this movie—unless they’re a total masochist 😁

I’m not really a fan of that modern brand of Black humor either, to be fair. The stuff from the *Fresh Prince of Bel Air* era was actually pretty funny. You could even see traces of it back in *Don't Be Sad*... plus, that guy from *The Intern* uses a similar style, which makes it work for me. But this new "yo-mama" type of humor? Yeah, it's exactly at that bottom-of-the-barrel level you were talking about.

But look, it really all comes down to the individual, doesn't it? Some people don't give a single damn about what anyone else says online; if the topic grabs them or looks interesting, they're just gonna hit play regardless.

Take me, for example—I'd totally sit down and watch the new Total Recall even if every single person on this entire forum was trashing it and there wasn't one solitary positive thing to be found.

The big mistake a lot of folks make when talking about this flick is comparing it to those top-tier, A category parodies. You can't do that! You've gotta realize this is more of a B movie, so why even try to measure it against the heavy hitters?

So, The Rock has a new flick coming out, and honestly, from what I've seen, it actually looks pretty solid? I'm really crossing my fingers that this one turns out to be way better than that total snooze-fest, Faster.
Richard Wilson4 said:Thanks for the heads up, I'll sleep on it.

Hey Richard Wilson4, so what was the final verdict—are you actually gonna watch it or what? 🤷
Frank Chase6 said:Was this supposed to be a parody of B-list horror movies? Or just a low-budget attempt at mocking horror in general? Look, I can appreciate a bad sitcom like *Scrubs*, but this was honestly unwatchable. If I were back home in the States, I’d probably be looking into a small claims suit against the filmmakers just to get my time back. It’s just a messy pile of everything—mostly just endless, nonsensical references to modern American nonsense—and don't even get me started on the "humor."

image

I don't know about you guys, but I didn't see it as messy at all; honestly, everything felt pretty well laid out from start to finish.

How can you even say it's just thrown together when the whole thing is built directly on the foundation of >? It's parodying that specific movie by setting the whole plot in a house crawling with ghosts, and then they weave in those other movie nods using their main characters!
If it were actually "thrown together," the plot would be jumping all over the place from one second to the next without any rhyme or reason, right?

And look, since we aren't dealing with massive superstars like > or > or someone else of that caliber, I actually think the humor is spot on.
Look, at the end of the day, it’s all just a matter of taste, right? What one person thinks is absolute garbage, someone else might find totally entertaining, and honestly, that's just how it goes.

I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn't really into B-movies or those cheap mockbusters back in the day, but lately, I've been finding some surprisingly fun titles that are actually worth sitting down for.
Some people wouldn't touch a mockbuster with a ten-foot pole, no matter what, you know? And I know plenty of folks wonder why a guy like Cepo spends almost all his time watching low-budget horror flicks, but hey, I say it's all about what you enjoy!

I mean, what if it isn't guns? What if it’s actually a massive shipment of cocaine? 🤷 If it really is, why don't you just take a little taste and see which cartel offers the biggest bounty for finding it? 😉

And hey, if they try to offer you your life back first, just say no. That’s such an old trick to test your loyalty before they even think about showing you the money.

Zero Dark Thirty (2012)

Man, what an incredible movie! I honestly can't even tell you how much this caught me off guard. After seeing The Hurt Locker, I kind of worried that Bigelow wouldn't be able to hit those same heights again with a film covering such similar ground, but man, was I wrong! This might actually be even better than The Hurt Locker (which I actually bumped up to an 8 since my 7 felt way too low)—I'm still totally buzzing from it, but it’s definitely right up there in terms of quality.

It clocks in at 2.5 hours and the pacing is definitely on the slower side, but the direction, the acting, and the script are all so incredibly tight that I didn't blink once the whole time I was watching. The ending? Absolutely stunning. Honestly, the entire movie is just filled with these massive, "wow" moments that stay with you.

Seriously, hats off to Bigelow; she is absolutely killing it right now. She really needs to keep leaning into these kinds of heavy-hitting projects like this one and The Hurt Locker, along with everything else she puts out.

My rating: 8/10
Drew Sanchez82 said:This is bound to be just as ridiculous as the title itself 🤦

But honestly, it isn't—just give it a look and see for yourself!

I totally get why people steer clear because of that low IMDb rating, especially since I was doing the exact same thing until someone actually gave me a heads-up.
See, this is basically one of those "B-movie" style comedies/parodies, which is probably why the score is so low, but man, the way it pokes fun at all the latest big blockbusters is just spot on.
Rachel Young3 said:I have a massive soft spot for parodies... 👋

Which movies does it actually parody? I've only ever sat through the first Paranormal Activity...

If you’re actually into parodies, then you are seriously going to love this one! Seriously, if that's your thing, you've gotta check this out.

It’s all right there in your opening post!
James Cameron's Sanctum (2010) in Movies ·
I just finished watching it, and man, it’s wild to realize my last time seeing this was back on March 2nd, 2011, and today is March 1st, 2013. Like, seriously, both viewings happened right at the start of March, can you believe that?

Watching it again after two years, I gotta say, the movie hits me exactly the same way—my impressions haven't changed one bit.

Chloe Allen said:I wouldn't go so far as to say the movie is actually bad—it’s just... incredibly cliché. It’s certainly watchable enough if you have some time to kill, I suppose, but there isn't really anything particularly special about it.

Yeah, I get that, but honestly, those visuals are just stunning, especially that cave and the shots looking at it from the outside and the inside... it's absolutely gorgeous.
Edward Norton in Movies ·
Absolute legend 👍

Honestly, "American History X" is hands down his best work—it’s easily one of the greatest movies ever made, period. And can we talk about his performance? It's legendary, seriously one of the most powerful things you'll ever see on screen.

I've actually sat through pretty much his entire filmography myself.
frozenviper13 said:I've always had a soft spot for parodies. If a movie is genuinely funny, why should it need a high rating? After all, those kinds of films aren't exactly designed to win an 😉

I totally agree with you there. I mean, at the end of the day, the whole point of a comedy is just to make the audience laugh, right? So just because a movie gets a low rating doesn't mean you should automatically skip over it—especially when we're talking about those B-list parodies that can actually be surprisingly fun if you go into them with the right mindset!
That scene where his ghost is totally wrecking his wife? Absolutely epic! 🙏🤣

And honestly, that exorcism part where he flips backward onto his hands and feet in bed and then just lets out those massive farts? It’s freaking hilarious, I can't even. 😂

Seriously, this comedy—well, more like a parody—is totally unlisted!!! 🙏

I swear, I have never in my entire life seen a movie that was actually better despite having such a bottom-of-the-barrel rating on IMDb. It’s just a massive parody of all those big recent hits: The Dark Knight Rises, Paranormal Activity, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...
