Man, you could always tell which corner store would get the first shipment in town. I even went down to their headquarters once 🙂and gave them a piece of my mind because I never actually won that Joy Division flexi disc from their giveaway contest. It all ended on good terms, though. Truth be told, I never got the record, but I did get to grab a coffee with Vukojevica. 😎 Honestly, Dzuboks was the best music mag to ever come out of the old US territories. 🙂

In Skripac, they absolutely crushed that concert at The Factory. It was easily one of the best, most high-energy shows I've ever been to. I honestly thought I’d only know maybe three or four songs, but then they started playing and everyone—including a huge chunk of the crowd—was singing along to every single lyric. The energy was unreal; the band was having a blast on stage and the crowd was just dancing and vibing right along with them. Total magic. Their studio albums feel a bit too cold and sterile sometimes (not that they aren't good, especially O je and the New Year Mini LP), but live? They are a much better band.

Du Du A definitely earns a passing grade from me. That first Year of Love recorded in Skripac is phenomenal; I make sure to play it every single year once spring rolls around. I saw them live for the first time back then, and it felt like a slightly more danceable version of Pere Ubu mixed with a wild Delc. To my ears, "O je" is great, but the rest is either stuff I haven't heard or just isn't really my thing.

Caught up with some of the Makazoruk crew today and everyone is saying the same thing: they had an absolute blast both in Washington, D.C. and out in Velika. Honestly, I'm just sitting here waiting to see Bachin wipe out off the stage during the Velika set. 😬

edit: Right after EXIT, Skush started complaining about his voice being shot, acting all dramatic about needing to go take care of himself. 😍

second edit: Washington, D.C. was actually the only time they ever played an encore, so yeah, it's pretty safe to say they were having a great time.

I used to be a big fan of Ott too, though I never caught a live show. And honestly, Prislan is just a genius, especially with that signature close-eyes playing style of his. 😁

Speaking of beer, what’s the verdict on Karlovacka? I noticed yesterday you can actually pick it up around here. As for Lacni, honestly, every single one of their shows I've caught was incredible. Especially that last gig right before Otto moved over to Laibach.

I know exactly what you mean. 😢 About five years ago, I finally got my hands on a cassette with those old demo recordings I'd traded for ages from some guy I used to know. Idiot move on my part—I never made a backup copy, and one time the tape just completely fried. I couldn't save it for the life of me. Honestly, it’s one of my biggest musical losses. 😢 😢 😢 Does anyone actually have a copy? Come on, someone make my Sunday a little better. 🙂 🙂
