How to lift a partial ban on MovieStream in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Hey, can some moderator hit me up? It’s been 24 hours already
Like, am I really allowed to ban people from talking about astrology in the chat thread? 🤷
How to lift a partial ban on MovieStream in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, I’m not sure if it’s been six months since the mod said, maybe they track it by the hour or whatever, but I think we're getting close. Not that it matters too much

What’s the drill once it gets here? Do the mods have to huddle up and vote? And do I need to declare what kind of user I’m gonna be—or not be?
Anyway, just check out my posts from the last six months in the other subforums. I’m solid everywhere else, except maybe here where I’m busy calling out unfairness and those stuck-up mods and admins. But that’s a whole different story, and honestly, I’m still gonna speak up because a lot of this stuff is just wrong.
I really dug into the rules this time, so I know exactly what’s allowed. I’ll be reporting sketchy behavior and certain users regularly—especially some mods who act just like I used to, only they use fancier words and get a pass from the higher-ups. But after that, I've moved on.

And when I got banned, it wasn't even clear-cut. Most of the heavy hitters over on the Movie forum were against it, so it’s high time this gets cleared up.
More freedom on the forum? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
People call it rude, but honestly, that's just how 90% of the mods talk to everyone. Shout out to the few who actually get it.
On subreddits like this one, the arrogance is through the roof. It's impossible to get a straight answer without someone acting stuck-up. So yeah, don't act shocked when users start giving you that same energy back...

go back down to that thread, I dropped 4 new comments with some examples for you

and I'm pretty sure he just broke rule #15, acting all clueless about who Sheldon Cooper is. even if he didn't know who Sheldon was, he could've just Googled it or figured out the guy from Interstellar isn't named Sheldon

So when is Smoogj finally gonna get a red card?
What's going on with the movie subreddit? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
seriously, someone just give northerncrane4 a pass and move him over to the Movie subforum. he’s totally playing dumb by claiming he didn't know Sheldon Cooper was a TV character, especially since they never even mention Coop's name in Interstellar, so it could just as easily be Sheldon

man, top-tier trolling right there 🙏

Can't find 'em anymore, feels like they got wiped

pff
Polite enough to be a complaint? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So what, I get slapped with fake infractions and then just get ghosted?
Is it really okay for a mod to be this arrogant and rude, constantly trolling under the radar... just check out the posts in the Star Wars theme
Polite enough to be a complaint? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Check it out:

Total disrespect, insults, trolling... just typical stuff from a high-and-mighty moderator.

And here's my absolute favorite comment:

I used to get flagged for basically nothing, like I was Public Enemy No. 1 in the movie section. Everyone knows that’s total nonsense, but those mods just love playing God.
Smoogj - Just a troll, and you all know it in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Nah, I’m not being insulting here. One of the mods—my absolute favorite, you guys definitely know which one—actually calls himself a troll on his profile and probably thinks it’s a badge of honor. Like, since everyone already knows and assumes that’s what he is, he decided to brag about it and shove it in our faces. Totally rude. But whatever

Actually, hold on. Aside from the fact that he got me banned and now I've been keeping him on my radar, after reading that half-baked review of Interstellar he wrote, I just have to vent a little.
Honestly, I don't get how someone that triggered can even be a mod. Ever since I got that ban and stirred the pot, a ton of people have hit me up in DMs sending me his quotes where he’s basically threatening users and acting all high and mighty in private messages. Seems pretty unprofessional for a mod, but hey, whenever anyone complains, management just ignores it
Does this guy have some special connection with the owner of the site or something? We'll probably never know... I know the whole community can't stand him, and he probably can't stand himself either, but sure, let him moderate if he’s such a genius and a wit—tall, blond, good-looking, obviously.

Enough rambling, getting to the point... I used to get infractions for tiny things. Like, once I just posted a simple "hello" in a chat thread and it got deleted and flagged as trolling. Or I’d get hit with infractions for just regular joking around without any reason, though unfortunately, I don't have the receipts right now.
What I mean is, does writing with perfect grammar somehow make him better than me or mean he isn't guilty?

Check it:

Rude behavior, insults, trolling... exactly what you'd expect from a "powerful" moderator.

And here's my favorite comment:

Get this: if it takes that much self-control to pull off something that stupid, imagine how much control he needs for actual serious stuff. Maybe it won't kick in sometimes. Dealing with a volatile mod is a gamble; who knows who he'll bait into a ban next with those subtle jabs and little games of his...

I don't even remember getting a warning from you. Honestly, I just don't see you as a real player here and have zero respect left after all the stuff you pulled on me.

That’s exactly why they stripped you of your mod powers in the first place. It just proves my point—the whole thing was rigged from the start. Honestly, you know how it is, so I don't even see you as an actual moderator. Your warnings? Yeah, I just breeze right past them.

Honestly, it’s such a bummer I don't have that DM where you were pulling that whole "mod power trip" routine, threatening to kick me off. Since that message, I don't even take you seriously anymore—whatever you write just doesn't carry any weight with me now.

If briskhound2 had actually done something reasonable and cool, then maybe it would've been worth it.

I still think—and honestly, everyone on Reddit agrees—that for a mess like this, you deserve a warning or to lose your mod status. Nobody wants a moderator acting like that, and nobody respects it either.

northerncrane4, if you're really keeping all those DMs, be a man and show everyone those frustrated threats you sent me. It felt totally unmoderated and just straight-up petty... honestly, if people saw them, they'd realize every single threat felt like a personal vendetta. Man, my inbox is capped at 200 messages so I can't even pull them up, but I'm telling you...
Don't go blowing up my inbox when I sent that over at 3 PM.

Long story short, what happened is in the past. My old (unfair) bans basically vanished from my user profile, so since then I haven't had any... or maybe I have one? Not really sure, but it was pretty questionable anyway.

I’m asking again because I’ve been digging through everything for like a month now. Just show me actual proof of a warning message, like: "Dear user Rachel Ortiz33, if you don't chill out, we're kicking you off Reddit."

Everything else is just noise to me—like random little jabs or being told to "calm down."
Can't see the Movie subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Did I cool off? Yeah, I did. Check the chat thread after that ☕
And sorry, I didn't realize Redditors were so vital to warnings, or that you guys had these "powerful moderator decrees," especially when it comes to those users who gang up on me just because I don't like the movies they love (like Signal or Into the Wild)... You didn't protect me or warn them then, because apparently, I'm the only one at fault for defending myself. I’m not just gonna sit there and take it while people provoke and trash me. Just another classic case of double standards

Sorry, but since I take things literally, and since I didn't know partial bans were even a thing, you should've actually explained that and named it. Your "warnings" were way too chill to be taken seriously; I thought we were talking infractions or full bans... And honestly, I didn't even deserve those warnings, since most of this went down in a "casual" chat thread where you guys clearly just interpret things however the wind blows (remember that whole mess with drolja?). You're showing your true colors here
I'm not even gonna go there regarding the warnings from a few years back, because that's ancient history. Besides, back then northerncrane4 basically just hammered me with unfair infractions and kept messing with me
We're talking about right now, not some crap from years ago, so feel free to give me one single example where you gave me a serious warning or threatened to kick me out. I'm looking, I really am, but you don't have any proof... You guys should probably just admit you messed up, and admit you don't like me, because everyone on this site can see how you're acting and how much you're embarrassing yourselves

If I were a mod and if I actually had this much trouble with Rachel Ortiz33—especially since you said she's "not a bad user"—I would've just DM'd her and threatened a ban. It's hard to take your non-existent "warnings" seriously when they happen in a chat room where I'm constantly being misinterpreted, probably on purpose. Every time I try to defend myself, my posts get deleted and nobody listens—just a cold shoulder

Also, if I'm such a troll and an offender, and such a threat to this community, why only ban me from the Movie subforum? If I'm that bad, you should just ban me from the whole site, because the number one enemy on this board, Rachel Ortiz33, goes through threads and attacks people for no reason
Every time I "clapped back" at someone (which you guys call an insult), it was only because I was being attacked first, usually just because I didn't agree with the majority on a certain movie.

I don't get how anyone can be a moderator if they can't actually read people, or if they're just going to pull everything out of context and hand out infractions like a robot

Wait, so she gets a strike just for addressing someone directly? What? Or does she get a strike because she proved a point against the mods and the admin team? Heaven forbid anyone on this site actually questions your decisions or how you run things

Michelle Evans said:It doesn't have to be a formal warning; they can just announce a partial ban publicly if they want.

The supermod is claiming those mods gave you a heads-up about losing access.
An admin will take a look at your appeal. Just hang tight for a bit, okay?

briskhound2 posted in the chat thread about 'chilling out.' I didn't see any public threats about a partial ban, personally.
Unless you dig up something from three years ago, it's pretty hard to remember stuff like that. 🤷

Michelle Evans said:Yeah, usually you get a heads-up first, like a DM or a warning on a specific thread before a partial ban hits.

So I got hit with it yesterday (actually the day before), which means there was supposed to be some recent warning message, right? And I'm just sitting here like, "I didn't get anything..." feel free to check my inbox...
Basically, is this supposed to be the warning? Like, are we actually gonna do something about this?
Can't see the Movie subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Michelle Evans said:Instead of laughing at that, I’d suggest actually reading the Reddit rules where it’s all laid out. Just like the lady above who keeps trying to twist what was actually written.

But that’s exactly the point—you mods and admins, at least from my experience, always seem to bend the rules and "play dumb."

But honestly, how can you even tell if someone's playing dumb, especially when you don't know them and you're just judging based on text on a screen?

Anyway, we're getting off track, I'm still waiting for this unfair situation to get fixed. You'd think the process would be an infraction, then a ban, and then maybe while you're banned you get a warning saying you went too far and if it happens again you get a partial ban. Can you really just skip steps like that?
Can't see the Movie subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Dorian said:Just two quick technical things. First off, no single mod can hand out a partial ban unless they're flying solo on that subforum. It actually works the opposite way—all the mods on a board have to weigh in on a partial ban. Also, mods don't even have the tools to trigger one themselves; once they all agree, they gotta ask the admin to do it. The admin handles it whenever they get online, so mods can't exactly send an instant notification.

Fair enough.

Still, isn't it pretty standard to give someone a heads-up before dropping a partial ban instead of just hitting them with it out of nowhere?

It's kind of like having your power cut off by the utility company and then getting a bill saying you should've paid it by a certain date.
Can't see the Movie subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The admins here are basically all-powerful, I swear—they can actually sense when someone is playing dumb. Seriously though, this is hands down the most ridiculous reason for a ban I’ve ever heard in my life

Still waiting on some actual proof, which obviously isn't coming, that I was even warned about getting a partial ban (side note: I didn't even know we had those on this site until now)

The smoking gun is just how the moderator gave me the partial ban first, then waited like 3 or 4 hours before finally bothering to tell me I was banned. Sketchy moves if you ask me

Rebecca Harris said:I don't really care about who got banned or the reason behind it, but what you said caught my eye. So, you're saying I could just tell someone: Your mom is a slut. and walk away without a penalty, mostly because I highly doubt any user's mom actually has a profile on Reddit. 😳

Did I get that right?

touché
they just make up rules as they go, but I've already proven my point
Can't see the Movie subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Regarding this whole "mess," I’m just taking things out of context the same way you guys always do to me—just playing back your own hypocrisy and how you basically change the rules whenever the wind blows.

And honestly, what kind of loser reports posts that are totally normal? Like, seriously?
For everything else, I actually care about people and try to help them open up about what's bothering them, yet this is how I get treated.

And again, NOBODY warned me I was going to get a partial ban, so if there actually is a warning, just show me the message. I'm telling you, I've been hit with a partial ban today without any heads-up.

Come on, I'm waiting for some actual proof of this warning that doesn't exist. It's just like when Smoggy sent me those non-mod DMs years ago threatening to get rid of me—too bad I didn't save those screenshots as proof.

You're just dodging the facts and making stuff up. If 80% of the active users on Reddit think this whole thing is a massive joke and totally unfair (just go read the thread reactions and comments), then who's actually right here?
