Tried watching a movie again last night, but I passed out at the exact same spot. Again.🤦

Best Sci-Fi Directors?
in Movies ·
If we’re talking pure art, it’s Kubrick. If we’re talking big-budget spectacle and a damn good time, it’s definitely Cameron. His style hits closer to what I actually enjoy watching, though I’ll always make time for some different kind of Sci-Fi.
Cameron takes the top spot for me strictly because of his 80s run; honestly, I’d rather forget Avatar ever happened.
Top 5 Cameron:
1. Terminator- 8
2. The Abyss- 8
3. Terminator 2- 8
4. Aliens- 7
5. Avatar- 5
Top 5 Sci-Fi directors:
1. Cameron
2. Kubrick
3. Spielberg
4. Lucas
5. Scott or Verhoeven 🤷
We should probably mention the genre's rising stars too—guys like Duncan Jones and Neill Blomkamp.
I haven't even seen Solaris; I only caught that Soderbergh remake with Clooney, and apparently, that isn't the real deal.😬

What did you guys think of Alex Cross (2012)?
in Movies ·
I only caught "Along Came Spider," which was decent enough. The trailer looks killer, but the lead actor felt a little bland to me.
Matthew Fox is playing a role totally out of character for him, and honestly, he seems to be crushing it.😁

G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2012)
in Movies ·
OMG Retaliation is being pushed back a whole year just for some 3D conversion nonsense. Honestly, this is peak studio greed right here. It’s pretty likely the movie is total garbage anyway, so they’re just looking for an excuse to squeeze out extra cash—but doing this literally a month before the premiere? 🙂

silentcanyon58 said:The biggest problem with an action flick like this is that it’s boring as hell. Seriously, I was expecting anything else, but not a snooze fest! Total trash.
Yeah, boring. Insanely boring. I honestly can't believe how much potential they just flushed down the toilet.🙂
Another thing that ticked me off was the soundtrack. I get that this is the kind of vibe Soderbergh usually goes for, but here? It was totally unnecessary and super annoying. I actually thought about muting it, but I figured I might as well just turn the damn thing off instead.
I wonder if Mendes is gonna bring that same musical style to the next James Bond movie.🤣

I really wanted to give this movie a shot, but I just couldn't make it happen.
I hit the 40-minute mark and started skipping through scenes just to get through it.
I don't know, man—it was just impossible to watch.

Dakota was alright when she was a kid, but then she started doing those Twilight movies, and honestly? I think her little sister Ellar Fanning has way more talent than her.
3D Movies: Yay or Nay?
in Movies ·
I voted against it simply because most of these conversions are garbage and just a way to force them into every single blockbuster. Only IMAX 3D movies actually make sense, along with a handful of live-action flicks (Avatar, Transformers 3, Final Destination 5—and yeah, Hugo is great), but everything else is forgettable. It’s basically just a cash grab by film studios and movie distributors to get back at people for piracy.
Exactly! You need to shoot 3D properly, like James Cameron or the pros making IMAX documentaries. 3D requires serious work and attention to detail, just like we saw in Avatar. But for the big studios, it's all about rushing the release to rake in the cash.
Most directors behind last year's blockbusters allowed 3D conversions, and it'll be the same story this year. I think Christopher Nolan is the only exception with his Batman stuff.
I watched pretty much every 3D movie last year, and maybe four of them were even passable.
So why did I watch all those 3D films if I voted against them?
Because:
1. They suck.
2. AMC basically blackmails its customers into watching 3D instead of 2D (I'd say the ratio is 8:2 in favor of 3D). Specifically, they schedule the 2D screenings at the absolute worst times so you don't really have a choice.

Bo Lee - Deep trace of evil (2011)
in Movies ·
Haha, what a clown🙏. Honestly, I don't think this can even touch "Protecting Oneself Sinj Hand"—that one is packed with absolute classic scenes.😁
As for the title itself, it definitely hints that this could be part one of a trilogy, kicking off the ultimate showdown between Bo and evil, along with his massive crews.🙂

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)
in Movies ·
Jessica Gonzalez said:Compared to other movies in this genre, I guess this one isn't bad; it's pretty solid. However, it isn't exactly top-tier, and it's probably not even close to what it could have been. I sometimes feel like there isn't really a director left today who can make a high-quality film of this specific type—you know, the ones involving espionage, spy plots, action, and intelligence agencies. For instance, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol was a high-quality movie that didn't rely on overdoing things just to tell its story. You can't deny the tension in this new installment, nor can you deny the great cast, and the plot itself is quite typical and fitting for a film like this. We have a terrorist wanting to trigger a massive war by detonating a nuclear bomb, facing off against the good guys who are doing everything they can to stop him. It’s basic math, really, but I suppose this isn't a simple film. It feels like that category of filmmaking barely exists anymore, except maybe in those few action flicks starring Liam Neeson. MI4 feels incredibly crowded—it's packed with locations, intense scenes, twists, fights, chases, explosions, and bodies. It's almost as if Michael Bay directed it. It seems like all directors nowadays follow Bay's philosophy. But I think bigger isn't necessarily better, unless we're talking about something else entirely. A quality action movie should be easy to follow, memorable, and shouldn't need constant flashiness just to fill up two hours of screen time. Also, I don't think it needs that much humor, especially since the stakes involve millions of lives; characters like Benj don't really belong in a movie like this. He isn't an agent—real agents aren't like that—he's more like a comic-relief caricature who gets way too much screen time. Sure, he's scared, but I guess I wonder what his fear and rambling actually contribute to the story? It feels like just more unnecessary filler. I'd say this is a step backward from the third movie; Philip Seymour Hoffman brought such a chilling intensity that there wasn't even room for comedy. Here, that sense of weight is missing because Benj gets more screen time than the actual main villain.
Hoffman was easily the best villain in the Mission: Impossible series. Just his presence alone screamed "don't mess with this guy"—that scene where he talks to Hunter and threatens his wife was freaking intense. This movie doesn't have that vibe at all. The bad guy here had potential based on looks alone, but the writing is super shallow and his motives are just plain lame.
Totally agree about the excessive, pointless humor.
The movie would’ve been better if:
-They kept Benji limited to tech support and quick cameos, while letting Brant take center stage in the action scenes.
-The villains were actually utilized properly, especially the guy played by the Indian actor; he had a greasy look that could've been used for something much more sinister.
-It actually took itself seriously for once.

Jeffrey Howard79 said:The first one was a total disaster in terms of realism, so I’m not expecting anything better from the sequel. It’s just gonna be more mindless action scenes. When I think back to him kicking through asphalt in Paris, or those massive ice bases and those drill vehicles...🙂🙂
What do you even expect from a movie based on a cartoon for kids?🤷
Same goes for Transformers—those movies are made strictly for kids, or they at least feel that way.😁
I thought the first one was alright (all I wanted from it were the effects and some fun), zero brainpower required, plus a few funny scenes the theater went nuts for, like this one.🙂🤣🤣😂
The trailer is decent (that Seven Nation Army remix makes it hit harder), and this Adriana is finger-licking good.😁

I still remember the first time my cousin and I saw the Boa vs Python DVD at the local video rental shop. We both just lost it—straight up crying from laughing so hard once we actually read what the plot was about.🤣, we couldn't even catch our breath for at least five minutes.😂
