Even a mediator wouldn't help here—they’d probably just end up looking out for themselves the second they tried to be objective. b) If you want to mess things up, just let people rule themselves—or in this case, let them act through a moderator.
Everything, even Reddit, needs a clear vertical hierarchy. Any attempt at a flat, two-sided power struggle would just dilute everything, dragging things out for months like a bad joke, and... well, it wouldn't actually solve anything.

Regarding Simunic's recent salute, you just have to look at how people were shouting fascist slogans from the stands both before and after. Calling it some "old American greeting" just doesn't hold water. Even someone who isn't paying attention can see what's really going on here. It's like when an idiot draws swastikas everywhere; it's not some intellectual admiring an ancient symbol, just like fascists aren't drawing tributes to the Roman Empire.

If the Forum management actually wanted to do their job properly, they’d be intentionally biased whenever the majority starts pushing regressive views. They should be actively promoting the opposite side to help educate people.
Think about it—should the police stay "objective" at a game in, say, New York City? If most locals decide to jump a few visiting fans, does being objective mean the cops should just join in on the beating because that's what the majority at the stadium wants? The idea of a majority versus a minority has nothing to do with objectivity.

If he’s too good to listen to any more explanations, then he should just leave Reddit; nobody's forcing him to stay. He thinks he's using logic, but he’s really just shouting his own opinions. He claims no one can beat his arguments, yet when a female user politely presents a counterpoint, he just condescendingly calls her "sweetie"—which is incredibly patronizing—and goes right back to rambling about his views without any actual substance. It’s just the same loop over and over.
Regarding the post mellowgardener9 is complaining about: it wasn't a direct insult, but rather something wrapped up nicely enough that he could pretend he didn't mean it 😬. Still, the moderator's entire tone in that thread is incredibly negative and toxic, and the admins really ought to step in and issue a warning. Even if this were just a regular user, let alone a moderator, it wouldn't fly. This is a moderator who actually called a guy an idiot in a single post. Seriously, what kind of communication level is that?
Come on, let's get this changed. The goal is to stop living in this gray area and finally allow people to list exactly what work was actually performed on their accounts. If that second comment doesn't get likes, it gets buried. The person looking for facts ends up with outdated info.
