Oh, thanks—but honestly, I’ve pretty much lost interest. 😁

I've long since concluded that pseudoscience is far closer to Spirituality than it is to actual science—though I suppose I’ve already opened a thread on that particular rabbit hole, haven't I?
I don't exactly view this subforum as some holy scripture—nor am I acting as an emissary for some higher power—so there’s really no reason to treat it with such excessive gravity, is there?
steelsurfer42 said:I’ve been thinking—wouldn't it be more practical to just group Spirituality, Religion, and Alternative together? Perhaps even as their own dedicated subforum cluster—just to make sense of it all?
It’s all just Spirituality at the end of the day—so why bother with the shots?
slywolf45 said:I don't even know what my take would be on a transgender corner.
The whole subject of being transgender is so incredibly layered that you could probably argue about it until the internet itself goes offline. 😲😁
As for specific regulations... look, I suspect order could be established fairly quickly. People tend to make a huge scene and throw a tantrum at first, but once they realize their protest isn't gaining any traction, most just move on.
I'm just not sure there would be much interest in that particular PDF. It seems pretty thin to me. I haven't seen anything remotely similar over on Psychology (or any other sub-forum).
Maybe it exists somewhere, but I certainly haven't come across it.🤷
slywolf45 said:I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the specific sub-forum😁 for the gay crowd over at NYU.👍(okay, not a PDF, but close enough..)
I went in expecting a massive workload—constant deletions, heavy moderation, all that jazz... but it turns out it isn't nearly as intense as I feared. And I know people are reading. Let them read. 😍 Sure, people have tried to throw insults our way, but honestly, it's significantly less frequent than what you see on other threads covering the same subject. 🙂
Matthew Grant9 said:Oh boy, I think we are totally talking past each other here....
It wasn't even my intention to feel insulted by that, it's more like I just don't know how to handle it! Like, how am I supposed to respond—and I mean anyone, using this as an example—when someone hits back at me in that specific tone? I honestly have no clue how to carry on a discussion when the "argument" is just of course you'd think that way since you're a woman?
And does anyone seriously believe that just because I tend to lean towards the left, everything I say must be fundamentally flawed or biased?
Matthew Grant9 said:Oh, I haven't even gone that far! I wasn't even mentioning those people who actually take shots at me personally. Those folks are a whole different level of difficult! I was just talking about people who use those kinds of logical fallacies in their arguments, and I don't think that necessarily means they’re judging me for, say, being a woman.Well, anyone can discuss politics or religion on the politics and religion boards.
On MK and Women's Corner, anyone can talk about absolutely anything.
Of course, everyone needs to follow the rules.
Actually, it's not quite like that... I noticed that on MK, there's a certain vibe where women's posts seem to be strictly monitored. In fact, the rules for that entire subforum mention that women don't really have much sway there. I actually read through them before I tried to reply to a thread on the front page once.
And goodness knows, if anyone thinks I'm judging them for that—please, if they want their own little corner, they should have it! If they've had enough of women, then fine; I'm certainly not so rude that I'd start a fight when their own rules basically say they want a little break from us.
Now, I feel like I have to defend myself in advance, because I have a sneaking suspicion someone is going to latch onto this and jump to some totally wrong conclusions. But really, I have nothing against MK or its existence or its rules; I'm just expressing myself here because I think it would be great to establish a similar subforum here. And why on earth would you want to talk to people who use those things as arguments? Regardless of the subforum.
Honestly, it's just because I feel like it's polite to answer any question someone asks me. Even if I completely disagree with them, or even if I get the impression they're trying to be a bit rude to me, if they ask, I'll give them an answer.
Look, it truly hasn't happened to me even once where someone replies with, "Well, of course you think that since you're a woman/leftist/Martian from Jupiter." And those posts weren't penalized, and honestly, I don't think they should have been, because that would just be pointless on a forum like this.
My whole point was that I thought it would be wonderful to have a subforum where people couldn't care less if I were a Martian from Jupiter while we're busy discussing how much fertilizer a pear seedling needs.Enyh, I honestly think briskpuma23 was talking about transcending gender as the main point here, rather than saying we shouldn't have meaningful or well-argued topics (I mean, who's going to stop you from starting them if you feel like they're missing?).
It's beautifully put: "To clarify using our usual forum lingo—let's just call this subforum for genderless Americans, anationalists, stateless people, and xenophiles."
Generally speaking, I'm not one to go around opening new threads all the time; I usually only jump in to start one when I'm feeling genuinely stumped by something.Besides, if we don't divide ourselves up and debate based on things like gender, looks, nationality, orientation, or preferences, what's actually left for us to do?
A PDF of ghosts. 😲
Well, discussing actual topics remains! That could easily become the core reason for the forum's existence in the first place.
Nicholas King said:That is simply, quite frankly, untrue.
I’ll admit—I don't exactly have the spare time or the burning desire to go hunting for specific examples right now—but they are out there in abundance.
If ad hominem attacks were always being penalized everywhere, we would see a massive spike in bans—and while certain forum users might find that appealing, at some point, it logically stops being economically viable for a platform to function.
Now, I’m not suggesting that turning a blind eye is intentional, organized, or even encouraged—but honestly, that’s beside the point; the claim itself just doesn't hold water.
Matthew Grant9 said:I honestly feel like—and maybe it’s just me being a bit idealistic here—that the whole point of having these conversations should be that you can actually sit down and have a decent, civil discussion with someone who holds views completely opposite to your own, provided they actually back up those opinions with some solid, legitimate reasoning!
And please, don't you dare try telling me that I could just go find these answers on other subforums, because honestly, even a quick, casual glance through places like Politics, Religion, or the Women's Corner is more than enough to completely change my mind!
Honestly, the arguments people constantly throw around on those subforums—you know, the whole "you're just a man/woman," "leftist/rightist," "Christian/Muslim/Jew," or "Mexican/American/Uzbek" routine—are, if you'll excuse my language, incredibly arrogant, totally invalid, and just plain exhausting to deal with!
What really gets under my skin—and honestly, it’s a little exhausting to think about—is that they actually walk away from these situations convinced that they've said everything perfectly and backed it all up with flawless logic! So, are we really planning on opening up an entire subforum just to host one active thread or maybe a handful of posts that’ll end up just sitting there gathering digital dust? It feels like we might be creating a whole new empty space just for the sake of it!
If you ever find yourself staring at a topic that just doesn't seem to fit anywhere else on the boards, don't worry—we actually have a dedicated "Random Stuff" section specifically for those oddball threads!
Why on earth would you think I’d ever be empty? Honestly, that's such a funny thought to have! I feel like I've always got so much going on inside my head, bouncing from one idea to the next, so the idea of being "empty" just doesn't quite sit right with me!😕Betty Chase54 Asks:
Honestly, I feel like we probably ought to just start an entirely new thread for this kind of discussion!
And here we go again with more of the same! It honestly feels like there just aren't enough transgender people around to justify having their very own dedicated section on the forum.
Wait, what do you mean by "other answers"? I feel like I might be totally missing something here!
Well, look at that! It seems you’ve decided we’re all totally written off, and now you're trying to double down on that stance at any cost—even though the simple math of the situation is clearly working against you. Just look at what happened after only one single day of this thread being live:
Wow, it looks like we’ve already had seven different people jump into this thread!
I’ve got a little request for the group—would anyone be kind enough to send over that PDF? I'd really appreciate it!
I am having such a silly moment right now, but for some reason, I just cannot get this -3/7 file to convert into a PDF! It is one of those little technical hiccups that makes me laugh at my own struggle, but I am honestly just stuck.
It feels like -1/7 is just totally having a massive misunderstanding!
silverpuma542 said:Exactly. So why are his posts disappearing on the Alternative board when he's just sharing his perspective? If they won't allow him to speak over there, he can certainly say it here.
Medicine is an incredibly complex field. When people are seriously ill, they often reach a point of pure desperation, grabbing onto any straw someone offers them—even if that person is acting completely unethically. Think about it: if someone spends a year and a half refusing breast cancer treatment and then starts advising others to skip their treatments too, what's stopping me from sliding into those desperate people's DMs? I could offer them a "therapy" that I charge a fortune for, while making absolutely zero guarantees that it actually works. And honestly? I know a dead person can't sue me. But hey, if a miracle does happen, I'll have the perfect marketing story to lure in the next victim.
If "alternative medicine" actually worked, we would simply call it "medicine."
That's why using that specific phrase is so problematic; we should be talking about alternatives to medicine, not "alternative medicine" as a standalone category. It's the same deal with "alternative treatment"—it's really just various alternatives to standard treatment. The very term "alternative medicine," which people toss around so casually, gives folks a false sense of security by implying, "Well, it's still medicine, right?" It isn't.

Jeremy Davis7 said:So, who was doing the nagging? If you can say.
What do you think their angle was?
Is there some sort of unspoken agreement—or maybe just a suggestion or a nudge—among you mods to scout potential candidates? Like, spotting the people who are super active on the forum and then offering them a chance to step up and take charge of certain threads?
To me, that seems like the absolute backbone of running a business. Every volunteer eventually burns out or just loses interest. It happens.
If I were calling the shots, I’d be all over that.
I’d set up a system where the active volunteers are encouraged to hunt for new blood while that initial spark of enthusiasm is still burning bright.
That way, I’d maintain a steady turnover of reliable people, keep costs down, and make sure everyone stays motivated enough to keep the quality high... which, obviously, drives the traffic... which is what I’m actually selling to advertisers.
PS.
Don't you feel, even just a little bit, like you're being "used"?
Like someone pulled you into a machine that's already spinning according to set rules, designed specifically to play with human psychology?
I'm not trying to stir the pot... I just want to understand how you see things.
This goes out to all the mods, if they're willing to talk.
Feel free to use burner accounts if you don't want to put your name on it; I really don't care.
