Lately, Reddit isn't showing up as a referrer on my WordPress site anymore.

I'm wondering if there was some new setting implemented over at Reddit to block the referral data—if so, why? Or is this just some change on the WordPress end?

Thanks in advance for any insight 🙂

Anthony Jackson2 said:Exactly. And once the site is back online, all our problems will magically vanish—everyone will be best friends, showering each other with compliments and handing out roses and honey cakes.

Oh, right...

I still don't grasp why the owner needs to be "involved" for fundraising to suddenly become a viable idea.

What does it mean for an owner to show interest? Should they be posting on Reddit? Moderating? Why? What difference does it make? Does the server run any faster because of it?

The hardware remains the same. The only real change is that some people might feel like they’re being coddled—is that what you're looking for, Anthony Jackson2?

So, if the boss pops in occasionally to ask, "How are you doing, dear Anthony Jackson2?"—that's supposed to motivate people to donate for a new server?

Anthony Jackson2 said:If the owner actually showed he cared about this Reddit community even half as much as his own fingernails, I might say this isn't such a bad idea. But right now—to be blunt—I’d think anyone willing to pay a single cent for something like this was an idiot.

What does "showing interest" actually look like here? What would you expect him to do differently than what he's doing right now?

Frankly, I don't get this constant need to summon the boss. Does someone really need a supervisor breathing down their neck just to get things done?

This site is run by a crowd of adults. A massive group. Tons of people.

You can accomplish pretty much anything without the owner—except maybe buying a new server. And let's face it, that server is always on the verge of dying just to force us to finally read that book we've been putting off for weeks or to make us go outside for once. Who cares if the site goes down for a day because the owner missed a payment.

What have you all actually contributed to this place on the days the server was running perfectly fine?
Brian Edwards78 said:The only time you aren't allowed to insult a public figure on this forum is when that public figure happens to be the fellow user you're arguing with.

A quick correction to that logic: it’s not actually the *only* scenario—even if it is the only one explicitly written in the rulebook. In practice here at the local social club, there have been instances where criticizing a public figure was shut down even without any insults being hurled—mostly because... well, it's hard to say. I can only speculate. People get too attached to certain figures, maybe they know them personally, or some other nonsense—it doesn't really matter why.

As for the mindless threads cluttering up the club? Sure, they exist. But honestly, the best way to "fight" them is simply to start posting meaningful topics instead of the garbage.

Just an admin shamelessly trolling on PŽK because they know they’re untouchable. How precious. 😍

Daniel Ward87 said:Why should we have to give everyone an update on what Tim and I are up to? Don't sweat it—everyone on the admin team handles their own business just like we agreed.

It doesn't matter what you do when you aren't logged in—but it suddenly matters immensely whether you're active here now that the administration has decided "engagement" is a prerequisite for participating in FBI discussions.

To track user activity and then weaponize those metrics against them—all while an administrator can stay completely MIA for months at a time—is both unfair and blatant hypocrisy. An inactive admin can resurface whenever they feel like it without anyone being able to ask, "where have you been?", yet the rules for everyone else are strictly enforced...

Users who aren't actively posting elsewhere are barred from questioning certain moves, yet admins who are equally absent from the rest of the site are still allowed to moderate. It’s absurd—really. Those who aren't present get to police the areas where they aren't even visible, while everyone else is silenced from asking why.

Actually, let's be clear—it’s the US courts that decide whether a law has been broken, not some forum moderator's administration. I was citing the criminal code—not the site's house rules.

Does this not still hold true?

About two years ago, I went through a really rough patch with my hair. I tried everything under the sun—drinking every supplement out there, using every product imaginable. Now I'm thinking, maybe that could happen again? :O I don't want to take that chance. Honestly, I'd rather deal with smaller breasts than end up bald. I'm getting a little spooked by all these side effects, especially since it seems like everyone I see who stopped taking them ended up with some kind of "issue." Looking at it now, maybe this whole idea was a bit foolish on my part. :/
What do you guys think? Is it possible for my hair to start falling out again if I've already dealt with that problem before?

I can't speak to the hair loss, but whatever issues you're facing, it's far better to talk to a doctor than play guessing games here. Sure, the side effects people mention are real—but you have to realize there are countless people on medication who feel fine and have zero reason to browse forums like this. It’s essentially like walking into an AA meeting and concluding that everyone in your city is an alcoholic.😬
Those who aren't—or those who don't experience side effects—usually won't show up in these threads.

Regardless, you really shouldn't skip seeing a gynecologist—have an honest conversation with them and get your hormone levels tested.

I have one question. Is it actually smart to take birth control pills just for the sole purpose of increasing my breast size?
Also, what does the whole process look like at the gynecologist's office? Do I need to go through my own primary doctor first, or can I just book an appointment and call it a day?

I’m worried you’ll end up disappointed with the results.

I won't tell you "no" or lecture you—if you've already made up your mind, nobody's going to change it—but if you're going to do this, at least do it right and make it worth the effort: get a real exam. Don't gamble with your health. Book an appointment with a gynecologist for an initial check-up if you haven't had one yet; tell the receptionist when booking that it's your first visit, and if you're looking for pills, insist on getting hormone bloodwork done before anything gets prescribed.

Those tests will show which specific pill is best for you—and whether you should even be taking them at all. Not all of them are created equal.

You don't necessarily need a referral from your GP to see a gynecologist; you can call their office directly and ask if they're accepting new patients. If you go to a private clinic, obviously, you'll be paying out of pocket for the exam and the labs.

Nicholas Gonzalez8 said:First off, just stop sending out resumes online. Look, it’s fine, but it’s honestly pretty inefficient if you think about it. A company might be looking for one or two people, and your application is just one single sheet of paper buried under a mountain of 500 others. Instead? Dress sharp—professional, you know?—and just walk right up to the front door. When you walk in, ask for the manager or whoever is running the show and tell them you want to have a quick word. If they give you that look and ask why you’re there, just tell them you have a proposal for the business. Of course, you need to actually do your homework first—know what the company does and come prepared with some solid ideas, presenting yourself as a real asset 🙂 Make sure you make a great first impression so they actually remember your face. Then, hand that person your resume and cover letter. They might set it aside for later, sure, but they’ll definitely remember the person who actually showed up, which gives you a much better shot at landing the gig.

Now, about the family stuff—you've got to accept your mother for who she is (don't waste your energy trying to fix her), respect her, and help out where you can. But—and this is a big but—do not let her mess with your head or crush your self-esteem. If the conversation starts heading down a dark path, just turn it around and say, "Let's talk about this later."

Solid advice here, and I'm totally on board with it 🙂 You can make money on your own terms in so many ways. You could do freelance translating, flip items on Craigslist or eBay, write content for websites and blogs, craft goods, or even offer to design and distribute flyers for local businesses, coffee shops, or other institutions. Just stay creative, dive in, and test different things out. Eventually, you'll figure out what clicks for you 🙂

I'd also highly recommend hitting the books, reading articles, or watching videos on the secrets to success and happiness. Knowledge is power, period—plus, that kind of stuff is great for keeping your motivation up and building your confidence.

Sure, this might fly at some tiny mom-and-pop shop—or with someone who loves turning their "hustle" into some local legend.

In the real world? It’s a massive blunder that gets you nowhere. People showing up unannounced to hunt down executives usually get escorted out of the building before they even see a manager. Honestly, we used to be terrified of people like that—we just saw them as rude, entitled types wasting everyone's precious time.

It's just not a viable strategy—certainly not for major corporations.

Still, I wouldn't dream of wandering around this forum calling people morons just because I'm having a bad day at the office.

Matthew Clark3 said:How do you actually feel independent when you’re stuck in a situation like this? Is it even possible? When I was younger, I didn't give it much thought... I felt like the world was mine, just like any other kid. But things change. Life changes you, and sometimes not for the better. I haven't been working for quite a while now. It’s frustrating because jobs just seem to pass me by, despite hundreds of applications. I’ve always lived with my parents; my father passed away a long time ago, so it’s just been me and my mother ever since. There were times when I worked and went to school, so I had a sense of independence even while living under the same roof. But since I stopped working, we've been living off her Social Security. It isn't easy, but we make do. Personality-wise, we’ve never seen eye to eye. We are just too different, and now that we're stuck together, it’s escalating. She treats me like I’m still a child, even though I’m well into my 30s. Talking to her doesn't help—I've tried countless times before finally giving up. It has left me feeling like a kid who can't make a single right decision. My self-confidence is basically gone. Since I am financially dependent on her, it takes a massive toll on my mental health. Is there any way to feel like an autonomous adult in a situation like this? How? Any advice would be appreciated. (And please, spare me the "just find a job" comments... believe me, I would if anyone would actually give me a shot.)

Unfortunately, I suspect that once you hit 30+, there are really only two ways to feel independent:
1. You actually achieve independence—which necessitates a job, financial stability, and some level of autonomy from others.
2. You brainwash yourself with various mantras until you're convinced you're independent, even though, realistically, you aren't—you just tell yourself this and that to cope.

People use all sorts of mental gymnastics to survive life; they convince themselves of fairy tales just to find the strength to get out of bed in the morning. It works for some people—I don't know—maybe for them, that *is* life and they aren't missing anything.

To me, that feels like merely performing a life—and I wouldn't recommend it as long as there’s even a sliver of a chance to live a real one.

Use the time you have to build your knowledge and skills. Volunteer. Start making crafts. Read stories to kids in hospitals. Learn. Sign up for 100 free courses on Coursera and finish at least five of them. Do something—anything—and keep applying to 100 places, whether they're hiring or not. Yes, even apply to places that aren't posting openings; you have nothing to lose. Don't quit, and keep pushing until you can finally stand on your own.

Good luck.

Hannah Allen5 said:Maybe I didn't express myself very clearly before. I mean, I wouldn't mind grabbing a drink once a month, or maybe once every few months, with a totally normal person where nothing happens. I don't care about the numbers, really... they don't matter to me. I wouldn't want to be the thirtieth guy for a girl if she's only been on her third date, but honestly, even that's not a big deal if she's a decent person....

But, look, take this year for example—the woman I had a one-night stand with is just unstable and naive, and a buddy of mine who knows her independently of me actually got the impression she might have some serious cognitive issues. Then there's this other one who has zero self-esteem and all these psychological struggles stemming from trauma, but I won't get into the gritty details.

Before all that, I was in a relationship with a single mom who was twelve years older than me, and that's basically been my whole world since 2005.

Why did I stay with any of them? Well, to be completely honest, with those two, I thought—and I think I was right—that it would make being alone feel a little less heavy. With the older one, you could almost say she actually saved my life, because before her, I was genuinely considering every dark option out there. I accepted whatever came my way because it felt somewhat ungrateful to turn down a decent opportunity while simultaneously mourning the fact that nobody wanted me... Because I just can't handle being alone; I couldn't go five years without anyone looking my way, especially when the people who *did* look at me were the types no one else wanted, or the types who couldn't keep anyone interested.

So, anyway, it's finally over. She reached the conclusion that she doesn't want to be just another "trophy," even though I spent like eight or nine months just trying to get to know her. Not to mention all the tears and the stress involved. It sounds a little pathetic to talk like this about someone you only saw twice in person, but I think I could have truly seen a future with her (well, aside from the fact that we exchanged something like fifteen thousand messages on Facebook)

Nobody just wakes up and thinks that out of nowhere. I’m not saying you actually view her as a trophy, but you definitely give off the vibe of someone who plays games with people.

Maybe you finally pulled it off—the whole "chic magnet" thing. Just be prepared to deal with the fallout that comes with it. See the quote above.

If you're going to play a character around women, you need to realize the risk—some might fall for it, sure, but others are going to see right through you.

Hannah Allen5 said:No, no, hold on—three people I've actually physically spent time with... Okay, maybe I exaggerated a little with two of them, but if things had been different or if there had been more opportunities, they probably wouldn't have even made the cut. One was just a one-night thing; I backed off immediately because she was totally silent on the date, turned into a complete nightmare once we were alone, and then by the next day, she was already acting like we were soulmates. With the second one, it was more of a little fling that dragged on, but honestly, I wasn't even that into it—mostly because I wasn't getting anything out of it except the illusion of not being single, and I basically had to play the part of the sensitive guy just to get through it. I don't mind being a good friend, but she really wasn't someone I could ever actually desire.

As for this third one, you could maybe call her my second or third significant connection in three years, though I only really knew her through a couple of hangouts and maybe fifty texts, so maybe that doesn't even count. She’s someone I started talking to back in mid-March, and after our communication got cut off twice at her suggestion, we finally met up recently. She’s actually glad we met, and the people who know her better than I do swear she isn't playing games.

Anyway, some people apparently bond with ten or more people this way, just like I did with those first two.😬 My average since starting high school has been less than one person per year.🙈

Now you’ve got me confused—I honestly thought your whole mission was to find that one specific person, your soulmate, until death actually does part you.

It seems you’re just chasing hollow numbers now—it's all vanity metrics at this point.

Do you even know what you're after? To be some kind of social magnet—all chic and effortless? Why? Is the goal just to have them flocking to you, or is it about having enough options that you can finally start picking?

Hannah Allen5 said:Yeah, I mean, sure, that’s more or less how it goes, though I guess that whole line of reasoning is probably stronger than my own perspective on it. But look, there’s this other thing that’s really eating at me, and it's tied to this one specific issue, which basically boils down to the fact that she’s one of only three people I’ve actually bothered to communicate with like this all year—even if, let’s be totally honest, in her particular case, I was the one who had to initiate everything in the first place. Last year, I didn't even bother with the whole scene of hitting the bars or trying to meet people or anything like that, and the year before that, it was pretty much the same story. It’s not like I wasn't making an effort, though.🤷

I know it is. Don't fall for that whole "sugar-coated" illusion😁
Unfortunately, I don't have some magic trick for just relaxing and letting go.

But look at this other issue—the real reason we're even talking—which involves only three people I've actually managed to connect with like this all year.

Does that seem small to you?
Connecting deeply with three people in a single year isn't "small"—not by a long shot. We aren't talking about casual acquaintances or one-night stands; we're talking about three actual human connections. Trust me, three in a year is plenty. Far from it.🙂

Hannah Allen5 said:I feel like you’re getting way too deep into the philosophy of all this, whereas I tend to look at things much more simply, almost strictly through a lens of cold, hard facts 🙂 So, honestly, I don't really suffer from a massive amount of guilt, mostly because, if I'm being real, so much of what I'm worried about hasn't even actually happened, so there isn't much to truly regret 😬 I suppose you could view it as some kind of lingering regret over the past, but I’m trying my best to just ignore what's already gone; I try to spot my mistakes, though even that is pretty awkward since I don't even know what the "correct" version is supposed to look like. Maybe the real issue right now is just this fear of what's coming next—the truth of it is that time keeps slipping away, opportunities are shrinking, and in practical terms, nothing ever seems to actually change 😁

The future is one of my biggest obsessions—whenever I'm not stuck dwelling on the past.
You basically answered your own questions already. 🙂

You have this vision of the future—you know exactly what you want. But the moment you think you might actually achieve it with someone, you leap forward, only to crash hard because you're terrified it isn't what you thought. :ikar:

Telling you to slow down or stop panicking is pointless—if you act out of pure anxiety, you'll probably just push away exactly what you're chasing in the first place. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Even back then, when he laid out his vision, the second you sensed she wasn't feeling it, panic set in.

You rush—and in that rush, you end up heading in the wrong direction entirely.

No, not everyone can pull that off. Only a handful of people actually have the guts. And if they tried? They’d just end up cursing at everyone. To hell with them. 🙂

Back in high school, I overheard a friend of mine losing her mind. She clearly lacked a sophisticated vocabulary for cursing, so she just started screaming at the top of her lungs: "Go screw yourself... just screw yourself all the way!" 😬

That’s a classic 😁

The other day, I sent a few "screw yous" straight into the void. Honestly—it doesn't get more uninspired or blunt than that. 😢

Nicholas King said:The whole thing about this non-nutritive garbage is pretty clear to me—basically, this shitty parable just amplifies the message of sheer stupidity they’re trying to push, and honestly, that isn't even the worst part about how crappy it is.

But, if we're strictly talking about maximizing the impact, getting aggressive and crude 😬 wouldn't the intended message be even more potent if it were handled differently? It feels a bit like saying, "Your nose is... rather large!"—I mean, sure, you could probably make it much stronger, much better. Or, you know, much more offensive. Not to mention the entire barrage of colorful retorts that such a "nuisance of a gesture" inevitably invites.

No, not everyone can pull that off. Very few people can. And everyone would just end up swearing. To hell with the masses. 🙂
A swear word needs impact—it has to hit hard. Whether you're just spitting one out into the void to vent, or you're aiming it directly at someone.

The point isn't about making sense; the actual words don't need to have any logical connection to the context whatsoever. It’s all about the effect. A coherent sentence is usually just boring and calm. Chaos and nonsense provide the punch—the raw energy.

When someone is genuinely trying to wound you, they might combine a personal jab with a curse. They'll say, "You're as exhausting as... as... as..." And the tension builds because they're searching for something grandiose, something unheard of, something absolutely outrageous that leaves you stunned... and then it just bursts out: "Dick!"

The goal of using "dick" isn't to actually finish the sentence and describe exactly how annoying you are—the goal is to freeze you in your tracks. Words that trigger an instinctive recoil when spoken aloud serve that purpose perfectly. Terms like "dick," "Jesus," or "motherfucker" have nothing to do with the literal anatomy, the deity, or the biological mother—they work because of a culture that still treats these words as things that shouldn't be uttered loudly. Not in polite conversation, anyway.

You don't say "dick"—nor do you mention certain other parts, even when discussing sex, excuse me, making love—you use euphemisms instead. D...ick.😳 hehehe. M...otherfucker.😳 hehehe. Or "little guy." Lulek. Pee-pee. But you don't say "dick"; it's simply not considered decent. Just like you wouldn't use Jesus's name in vain.

Unless, of course, you're swearing. In those moments, anything goes. That's when we lean into taboos—that's when we're truly free. And powerful.

Why is "dick" such a taboo today? Why is sex a taboo? Why do taboos even exist? Honestly, I haven't a clue. Habit, tradition, passing down bits of stupidity from one generation to the next. I really don't know.

That covers the "exhausting dick" scenario.

It's actually a shame that the word is so discriminated against. Writing "dick," saying "dick"—it's a pretty satisfying experience. There's a certain richness to how it rolls off the tongue. Even when it's not part of a curse. Dick.

edit: To hell with it. Now I see that Rosie already wrote something similar. 😁
