Best speakers under $75 (ideally Bose, 60W+) in Computer Peripherals ·
Personally, I’ll take a stereo setup any day. As for quality, I’d put the T40 and Z4 right in the middle, whereas these 3800s? Honestly, they're a step down. 🙂

If you aren't feeling that heavy-duty punch from the $267, then you’re basically playing in the amateur league with the Creative Gigaworks T40

Hey, multi-quote.

Let’s assume the analogy holds some water, though I have my doubts.

Maybe Person C won't end up behind bars, but I honestly have my doubts about whether they should even be sitting on the bench as a judge.

A judge can follow the letter of the law and still have an opinion. It’s not mutually exclusive.

Just because I think things used to be better doesn't mean I'm saying everything today is total garbage (and seriously, does it always have to be "garbage"?). I don't see why claiming older music is better on average should be off-limits, even if that premise is completely wrong—which is something we should actually be debating over on the Music subreddit, not here.

The point is, beyond just being absurd, this whole theme has already been covered in unknown topics.

I’m not even sure you paraphrased that correctly, but I get the point you're trying to make. Look, it feels genuinely unnatural to me that someone claiming to be a die-hard alternative fan—especially with twenty years of mileage under their belt—wouldn't have even a vague idea of what a Sex Pistols, Black Flag, Butthole Surfers, or early Flaming Lips show actually looked like.

Do you actually think they’re clueless, or are you just messing with me? 🙄

First off, it might be a good idea to add an appropriate trigger warning to that thread.

Second, and more importantly, if this falls into that top 1% of bad behavior, we’re talking about total disregard for privacy. Doxing someone's life outside of Reddit without their consent—especially when the info is inaccurate and malicious—is just straight-up garbage.

The rules state this thread is for "everything and anything," which feels a bit narrow. Honestly, we could definitely expand that scope.

First off, there was zero smoking going on. As for everything else, it’s really not worth the effort of an intervention. How is anyone supposed to prove she's being malicious or spreading lies instead of just being wrong? And honestly, why does it even matter? The whole thing was just a comparison used to illustrate how you became who you are in her eyes. 🤷

1. Person A punches Person B in the face and ends up behind bars. Person C chimed in saying they’d have done the exact same thing in Person A's shoes. Does Person C go to jail too?

2. You can't have a constructive debate when one person walks in acting like an absolute authority on everything—especially when they drop lines like "modern music is trash, the 90s were better" or "what do you young indie posers know about punk?" directed at people who have been hitting punk shows for twenty years.

3. Let's be real, 99% of the time, the Non-Political topics aren't even moderated.

Notice the subtle difference between someone who just swears at you directly and someone who agrees with the sentiment while also backing the punishment for that person. I’m keeping my right to an opinion, but as a moderator, I won't directly call it out. You, on the other hand, might want to stop being such a self-absorbed troll who constantly lectures everyone else like they're idiots. That's just as insulting—if not more so—than a direct insult, especially since you wrap it up in this hypocritical "civil discourse" bullshit. If you keep this up, you might find 90% of the Reddit users and music mods banning you on sight, voting you down, or just telling you where to shove it 😉

That isn't a discussion, it's just trolling. I’m not opening that thread. Let the man rest in peace.

I can't tell if this is a masterclass in subtle shade (if it is, nice work 🙏) or if you just lack basic deductive reasoning

but Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival definitely has a better atmosphere😁

Well, the ones I picked up aren't making any noise. Guess it just depends on the specific batch you get.

links, $133, I suspect we're looking at 5" drivers here.

Picked up the Sony WH-1000XM5 yesterday. Honestly? 👍 I’m still reeling. Didn't think you could actually snag sound quality this good for $133 🙂

Or should we just move this down to the AV subforum? Might be a better fit there. 🙂

So, I spent some time digging through 2.0 and 2.1 PC speaker setups for my $133 setup. Stumbled upon these three:

Doesn't matter that they're all from Best Buy; they just happened to show up in the same search results...
I listen to music way more than I watch movies or play games, so I'm curious—what's your take? 🙂

We should probably talk about the local blunders made when dealing with "international" acts too.😁

Saw a flyer today: some budget Gypsy brass band setup.🤣🤣

A bit on the black metal side, but they’re actually solid 🙂

I was all about The Bends and OK Computer from the jump. Then Kid A dropped, completely fried my brain, and I just lost interest in them altogether.😈 😬

Preschool was all oldies—CCR, The Doors, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Pink Floyd, and all those psychedelic vibes... then maybe some stuff through 5th grade. After that, my neighbor introduces me to Metallica, followed by Sepultura, Metallica again, Maiden, Pantera, and Slayer. By 7th or 8th grade, I was deep into various types of techno, and once I hit high school, I just opened up to everything under the sun. And I've been like that ever since. 😁
I’d suggest going with the lock 🙏
When is someone finally going to drive a stake through the heart of this new-age vampire?🙂
Lisa Flores74 said:Let’s not forget MTV played a massive role in all this... and everything before it. Shows on KROQ or whatever the hell our parents used to listen to back in the day. Back then, MTV was actually a benchmark for quality. You didn't just listen because it was the only thing available; you listened because most of it was actually good. Less music meant less trash.
Nowadays, more music just equals more garbage. It takes way more willpower and effort to dig out something worthwhile. I honestly think the digital revolution is directly tied to this obsessive way of listening—it’s practically the only way for someone who actually cares about music to find what fits their taste and helps them grow.
The only question left is: at what point does this hunt, this obsession with finding "the thing," stop being a means to an end and become the end itself? Since it’s entirely up to the individual, I’d venture to say that once that happens, it’s not even about listening to music anymore.

I’m with you on this one. Raising a glass to the truth here.🙂
