Personal accounts of brief vs. permanent awakenings in Spirituality ·
I’ll just address a certain "crowd" here... I honestly don't get the people who spend their time philosophizing about absolutely nothing—those self-appointed priests who show up just to try and open everyone else's eyes. It would probably be better if they focused on opening their own eyes instead; I mean, the more you overexplain things or write these endless little novels, the less likely you are to actually be right—or maybe, it just means you're becoming increasingly wrong. If I wanted to read a book, I’d just head over to the local library. I really wish these so-called wise guys would finally start getting to the point 😁

stay awake 😉

There’s just something about those blue eyes—I really think so! 😁

...especially if you’re generally the type who stays quiet and keeps to themselves. When someone like that finally reaches their breaking point, everyone usually just shuts up—though, of course, they probably spent all that time before then pushing every single button they could find. That phrase, "you can try all you want, but you won't get anywhere," really hits home, doesn't it?🙂

Honestly, being the target of constant belittling or any kind of bullying is such an awful experience to go through. I truly hope anyone finding themselves in that kind of situation can find a way out as quickly as possible—whatever that looks like for them. At the end of the day, nothing is more important than your well-being, especially your mental health.

Brenda Booth5 said:The absolute peak of personal growth is when you can look at someone like that with nothing but indifference and a bit of pity while they're foaming at the mouth, yelling, or throwing whatever tantrum they feel like...
It's that moment when you finally just shrug your shoulders and realize their nonsense doesn't touch you because you have much more important, much happier things to occupy your mind.

I suppose some aggressors push so hard that you feel the need to hit back just as hard, but I think what you described is probably the superior way to handle it. 🙂

I’ve come to realize that most of the people doing the belittling are just deeply frustrated individuals who aren't particularly happy with their own lives. Oh, believe me—I know exactly the type 😉
they’ve actually tried to ruin things for me, mostly just so they can feel a little more significant or superior in their own minds. In my experience, the best move was simply to distance myself and ignore them entirely; they remain stuck in that cycle of frustration and dissatisfaction—perhaps even totally oblivious to how they're acting—while I walk away with a bit more wisdom and the quiet satisfaction of knowing I’m a better person because of it

If I could offer any advice, it would be this: don't give these types any emotional reaction whatsoever. Stand your ground against them (they absolutely loathe that) or perhaps nudge them along, but never, ever be the one to initiate the conflict. Though, honestly, the smartest thing is probably just not to waste your energy on them at all and just walk away
Are lefties actually smarter? in Psychology ·
Drew Peterson61 said:Look, I never said *I* was special, I was saying *you* were. I don't even know if all these theories are actually true, but since I check almost all those boxes myself, I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it. What I find kind of silly about your post, though, is that claim along the lines of "oh, anyone can just learn to write with their left hand." If you actually understood the subject, you'd realize it isn't just about writing; the whole phenomenon is way more complex than that 🙂. Anyway, in my family, it's the same deal where my brother and I are both lefties even though our parents are right-handed, and my aunt on one side is ambidextrous. So, maybe there are a few more of us out there than we think, haha.

Anyway, I guess I am a little bit special after all, being a lefty 🥳

we both fit most of those descriptions, even if we aren't using the same hand to write 😉
what I find silly are these pervasive stereotypes and the nonsense people get caught up in. I still stand by what I said—that anyone can learn to write with their left hand (or vice versa)—it's really just a matter of habit and doesn't have anything to do with how smart you are🤣.

Drew Peterson61 said:God, what a load of nonsense! I mean, I guess I could probably train myself to write with my right hand too, but it’s not about practice—it’s about what actually feels natural to you. Anyway, speaking as a lefty myself here... I feel like my perception is better than average, I've always been drawn to art, and I'm definitely hyperactive. I think those things actually hold water. As far as IQ goes, sure, not every lefty is sitting at a 140, but about 30% of Mensa members are left-handed even though we make up less than 10% of the population. So, I guess the statistics do suggest we might be a bit sharper. But there are definitely downsides to this "specialness." I struggle to focus, I tend to skim through tasks instead of being thorough, and I can spend hours lost in a daydream which just kills my productivity. Plus, I'm disorganized and a bit clumsy. These are all classic lefty traits, so we just have to deal with them, along with all that gear like scissors and various drawer handles that are designed exclusively for righties as if they're the only ones on the planet using them.

I'm a righty, yet I've been naturally talented at art since I was little. I'm hyperactive, and I know I can be clumsy sometimes, but when it comes to manual tasks, I'm actually quite precise. I have trouble concentrating, I tend to skim the surface when multitasking, I daydream constantly, I'm "organized-disorganized," and I'm fairly emotional. I haven't actually measured my intelligence, but I certainly don't feel lacking in the brain department. 🤣
In what way are you special, other than having to use right-handed tools? 😁
I'm not saying this to be rude or anything, I just don't really buy into this whole idea. There are intelligent people and less intelligent people, and there are lefties and righties; I guess I don't see why we need to emphasize some imaginary uniqueness for one specific group. 😁
Are lefties actually smarter? in Psychology ·
The hand you use to write is really just a matter of habit, nothing more than that... if I truly wanted to, I suppose I could train myself to be left-handed, much like how any lefty could probably learn to use their right.
Though, I have to admit—Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and so many other legendary artists were lefties... yet here I am, a righty, and I still seem to have a knack for art.😍
So, I’m not buying into all those stories about lefties being inherently special; honestly, the only thing that makes you unique is the fact that you're a minority.😛
Luck needs to be on my side... in Spirituality ·
briskbison62 said:Hahahaha, oh man, it sounds like your cousin definitely wants that kind of karma, doesn't he?! People usually say someone like that is just "blessed" (or maybe just totally clueless)! 😂 Honestly, I don't know how much of that is actually luck or good karma. Isn't it supposed to be that the best students get the hardest assignments?! Is everything really going great if it's *too* easy? There's that saying that you should even thank Bog for the bad times, too—since we can't see the big picture, we have no idea what those struggles might be preparing us for... I look at people sometimes who just breeze through life—they aren't exactly hustling, nor are they particularly moral, yet nothing ever seems to go wrong for them... But maybe it's like a video game, where the first level is super easy, but as you level up, things get way more intense and complicated... 🤷 And then you have those people who stay completely superficial and never grow, almost like Bog gave up on them because even a little bit of hardship wouldn't be enough to make them learn anything... 🤷

It seems like I must be an exceptionally gifted student, considering the kind of assignments life keeps handing me🤣

Well, I guess I feel somewhat honored now 😍
Body grounded, spirit wandering in Spirituality ·
@nimblewolf11, those are some genuinely solid pieces of advice right there 👍—honestly, I’d probably suggest the exact same thing to her...
Back when I was actually sticking to a lifestyle like that, I felt incredible—but more importantly, I felt centered, you know? Just had such a clear, calm head on my shoulders. I'm really trying my best to get back on that right track 🙂
Body grounded, spirit wandering in Spirituality ·
Dear Jeffrey Booth51, we might not be in quite the same boat, but I truly feel for you 😉
it all comes down to your mindset, I suppose... sometimes we get so bogged down in one particular headspace that those rare moments of connection with reality become almost impossible—and honestly, reality is so much more beautiful than anything our imagination can cook up. I realized that just yesterday... how much more vibrant actual existence is compared to my own mental state (regardless of the circumstances, really)... though, of course, I was only 'awake' for a fleeting moment before I drifted back 'asleep.'
what can I even say? one just has to find a way to 'wake up'... wishing you all the best
Heatwave, hives, and low blood pressure in Health ·
It’s the same story for me—my doctor wouldn't even let me check my hormone levels 😕 she just told me to go get some blood work done instead, though I honestly can't shake the feeling that something isn't quite right...
Heatwave, hives, and low blood pressure in Health ·
I’ve been dealing with this exact same thing all summer. I mean, I love the heat and the sunshine, but—there’s always that "but" 🙄—I just feel completely drained. It’s as if I’ve exhaled my entire life force; I have absolutely zero motivation for anything... I’m living in this state of constant fatigue and exhaustion. Honestly, I’ve even stopped going to the beach because just the effort of dragging myself down there feels like it's sucking the soul right out of me, and then swimming or tanning leaves me so wiped out that I'm practically seeing stars, even though it's broad daylight...
The other day, I almost collapsed in the restroom—it was pretty scary. I broke out in a cold sweat, my ears started ringing, and my heart began racing like crazy. It doesn't really matter whether I've eaten or stayed hydrated; this lack of energy is just constant. I am so exhausted that I don't have the strength for anything at all. To be perfectly honest, I feel like a walking corpse. It’s actually become quite awkward when people invite me out and I have to say I can't make it, so we'll try another time—but then that "other time" comes and goes, and it's the same old story. I end up feeling like I'm just flaking on everyone, when in reality, I truly don't have the energy or the will for anything, let alone going out... 🤷
Who's actually to blame? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Michelle Evans said:To build on that—searching for someone to blame, whether it's yourself or someone else, is usually counterproductive. It rarely leads anywhere useful. Often, it just becomes a way to adopt a victim mentality, an excuse to avoid taking charge of one's own life, or even a form of self-punishment... depending entirely on where a person decides the "guilt" lies.

Well, that is exactly how I see things too; I suppose I just phrased my thoughts a bit differently. 👍
Who's actually to blame? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I wouldn't exactly say we're to blame, though I suppose we are responsible for our own mental well-being...
we all have this tendency—I guess you could call it a bias—to perceive things in whatever way suits us best; nobody is really forcing anyone's hand. now, I'm certainly not trying to deny that psychological abuse or manipulation exists—of course it does—but honestly, why even stress ourselves out over it...
Dear Object, Please Don't Cry in Psychology & Therapy ·
😂 honestly, this whole thing just gave me a good laugh 😁 😁
when I was little, I used to treat my toys like they were actual living beings—though, if I’m being honest, I was probably a bit too harsh on them 😳
my mom tells me (though I don't personally recall the incident) that I once actually cut the nose off a Barbie because she was being "naughty" 😳
but really, I was always such an angel 😁

I don't really have that kind of relationship with my belongings anymore 😂
Is everyone just becoming more selfish these days? in Spirituality ·
ambersailor85 said:That "one-off" thing is just a line, really—you could easily pull this move a thousand times over. 😁

Well, damn...
it sounds like 😁there are way too many selfish people among us; I'm starting to get the feeling we might actually be in the minority here. 😁

Self-help techniques and tips in Spirituality ·
I honestly believe this is such an incredible way to practice self-care and find some internal healing 👍
It’s like that old saying—'a healthy mind resides in a healthy body'—and I suppose the reverse is just as true, too.
While the body works to flush out toxins, our minds and spirits sort of undergo a similar process of purging negativity... I guess you just have to push through and endure that difficult phase when everything starts bubbling up to the surface, but I truly think the struggle is worth it 😁
And yeah, I also feel like faith plays a massive role in all of this; after all, ''all things are possible to those who believe'' 🙂
Human achievements and how they're being misused in Spirituality ·
I suppose good and evil are really just reflections of the thoughts born within a person's mind... honestly—if we could all just be a little more creative and maintain a more positive outlook + given everything we've discovered lately, the world might actually become a much more beautiful and enriched place...
