I'm with you. Someone needs to ask him what happened to all those big threats he was making.
What did his people tell him?
Was it just hot air or actually nothing? Does he still think he's got some "ace up his sleeve"?
Is he actually going to apologize to the mods and everyone else on the forum? ☕
Where did all the deleted posts on Politics go? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
redbear12 said:Over on the politics subforum, posts get nuked all the time for various reasons. To let debates flow naturally without making people feel censored or targeted when their stuff gets wiped, we could just start a deleted posts log. The mods would just pin the original message there before they delete it.

Wouldn't that be a way to practice some political correctness that actually keeps both sides happy?☕

No way. That would just turn the whole American internet into a landfill. Kids would spend all day reading nothing but trash.

Canadian forum trolls and their clones are attacking us in Feedback & Suggestions ·
That’s one reason I’d actually love to see where everyone on this forum is originally from, specifically those who aren't from the US.

I guess I just have a harder time with Americans when they start spewing weird, hostile nonsense about their own country compared to someone venting about stuff happening in Canada or Mexico.

So, I think showing everyone's home country would actually help lower the tension. If you know where someone is coming from, it’s easier to take their gripes with a grain of salt.

Right now, you can't tell if someone is posting from right here in the States or from some chaotic part of the world where hate speech isn't even regulated like it is here in the US... 😉 🤷
H-Valid and avatar II in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Nathan Price3 was told he couldn't use an avatar showing a "Palestinian fighter" trampling the Israeli flag—which, if you ask me, is just straight-up antisemitism masked as politics.

But here he is AGAIN with an avatar hitting the same note. This time it’s a boot crushing the Star of David. It feels like he's just relentlessly trying to stir up hate against that state in the most disrespectful way possible.

Look, I'm Jewish, but I don't necessarily have a massive emotional stake in Israel one way or the other. Still, I support the efforts of a secular nation that's a close ally to America, so seeing that symbol get stomped on just rubs me the wrong way.

Can someone please tell him (again) to take that trash avatar down?

She's basically assuming everyone is a born sadist and that faith is the only thing keeping believers from going on a killing spree.

That kind of logic is an insult to anyone with a pulse, believer or atheist alike. I don't get how this was even allowed to stay up 🤷

It's messed up. Reading that stuff was just straight-up sick. Bloody dreams and all that "kick kick, punch punch" nonsense about playing with someone tied up on an island.

I see why she started this thread—to slap atheists in the face. But letting a thread like this exist is a slap in the face to believers, too. And really, to any decent person who isn't a total psychopath, which most of us are. 😉

Your forecast actually came true. Here's where she’d (again) justify a massacre, using that classic theist line: "if God told her to do it, just like He told Moses":

If our God in the Bible ordered Moses to slaughter people, then He had his reasons, and there's no need to feel guilty or try to make excuses. If God told me to do the same, I'd do it, too. His decisions are just, and if we question them, we're only hurting ourselves.

Their interpretation of Islam isn't "regressive" if it aligns with the original and authentic understanding of Islam (specifically the Quran). Personally, I’d much rather deal with that than see people acting like cowards by "borrowing someone else's feathers" and pretending to be something they aren't—which is exactly what others are doing. At least the first group is honest and uncorrupted.

And in this context, comparing atheists to them just highlights that same cowardice and corruption...

and in this light— comparing atheists to those people just feels cowardly and fundamentally corrupt...[/I]

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing about the religion sub.
It’s easy to navigate and you don't have to go hunting through endless subforums just to find something.
There's no need to act like one specific type of Christianity needs protecting from all the others—unless, of course, people are feeling particularly "under attack." 🤷
Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
briskotter192 said:If God exists, the fundamental nature of everything shifts.

Because He provided the laws by which we are meant to live.

He gave them because He is older and wiser than we are.

It’s quite similar to how an adult is more knowledgeable than a small child, who might reach for a hot stove simply because they don't understand the consequence of being burned.

If God did not exist, it would be a staggering injustice that some are born into wealth while others face poverty, some are healthy while others are ill, some are beautiful while others are less so, some are brilliant while others are not—and so on.

However, since this life is not everything, and because there will be a period in ETERNAL LIFE that stands in total opposition to our current reality, we cannot speak of injustice occurring here on Earth.

Jesus says that those who are first on Earth will be last, and those who are last will be first.

Regards

Nothing ever actually changes.
Honestly, everything is just one big constant flux. Change is the only thing that actually sticks.

Because He’s the one who laid down the laws we live by.

Don't make me laugh.
Stone the guy gathering sticks in the desert on a Saturday. Burn the girl because she had sex before marriage. Kill anyone who worships any God other than Yahweh!

He handed them over because he’s older and smarter than the rest of us.

Lol. He’s got this massive, long white beard.

Just like how you're supposedly smarter than a toddler who touches a hot stove because they don't realize it'll burn them.

Are there even any smart analogies left...

If God didn't exist, the sheer unfairness of the whole setup would be too much to handle—some people born into wealth while others struggle, some blessed with health and looks while others get the short end of the stick. It just wouldn't add up.

No way.
If life is a gift, there’s zero logic in whining about how unfair it all is. It’s like giving a kid a toy only for them to cry that it’s "unfair" once it breaks.

Why do we only have five fingers on each hand? Total rip-off. We really should've had six.

Since this life isn't everything, there’ll be a time in the afterlife that's the total opposite of this mess, so you can't really complain about injustice on Earth.

Whatever.

Jesus says...

Nothing. Jesus didn't say that. Some random Greeks wrote that he was God's son and that he used to preach or whatever.

It’s like they say: the ones who were first on Earth will be last, and those who were last will end up being first. Life's just one big circle.

So those are your aliens again? The oldest ones in existence? lol

Cheers

Right back at ya. A big Dawkins-style salute!

Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
feralwalker672 said:I am under no obligation to assert His existence.
The absence of visual evidence for aliens doesn't serve as a logical proof of their nonexistence, does it?
Historically, people in Europe were entirely unaware of America and possessed absolutely no empirical evidence of its reality, yet the continent was there all along, regardless of their ignorance.

So what if God actually does exist?

What difference does it make to your actual life? Personally, I'd say none, which is basically just atheism. If you're a believer, sure, you'll start rambling about how God dictates your every move, lighting candles and acting like it's a sin to live like He isn't there.

The whole "does He exist" debate is pretty much useless—just a way for theologians to spin their wheels. What matters is how you view that Being in your own head and how that shapes what you do. That’s what faith really is.

So, how do you actually prove your God's attributes or the way he works?
To me, it looks like a massive delusion—getting high on your own supply of logic and emotion, mixed with centuries of overthinking by theologians. ☕

There is no culprit.

Fine, I guess we'll just see where this conversation goes...

But I'm not demonizing them! I'm just pointing out a monstrous book, monstrous ideas, and a monstrous conception of God.

Sure, but a man wrote that book. A real person. And it’s pretty obvious you despise him...

But that contempt of yours doesn't make much sense, since you're talking about a leader of crazy memes...

We are more than just memes.

But we aren't responsible for that (according to you), just like a meme isn't responsible for being a meme...

There is a level where there is no difference.

Well, that’s the crucial level, I guess...

Why wave your hand when a mosquito is buzzing in your ear? Is it just reflex?

Oh, so you admit it?

Alright then. I was actually worried I'd have to drag that confession out of you...

What else is left for us?

If this were my first time talking to you, I might say okay. But it isn't. It probably won't be the last either. We'll just wait for some new angry post from you, where you try to change us religious folks again—even though you're admitting right here that it's actually pointless...

A mosquito buzzes, you wave your hand. What's the issue?

If only you were always this pedantic. But you aren't. Sometimes when you write, I get the feeling you actually believe in values higher than mere reflex. And then you get all pompously angry because those crazy inquisitors burned your precious scientist out of pure reflex...

The stars aren't just "filthy crap." Show some respect for your heavenly parents.

Alright, look, at the end of this post I'll try to rephrase how an atheist's transition into death actually works...

Disease and brutal poverty are tearing through humanity.

So what, they should just go out and rape people?

Because of hunger...🤣

But why is someone malicious and violent? Isn't that mostly in the genes? A lack of empathy.

Not really...

It’s true that our tendency toward different kinds of evil is genetically hardwired. But anyone can recognize when they're doing something wrong, and anyone can choose to change...

Maybe they have high blood pressure, or someone stepped on their toes, or they have nervous stomachs, ulcers, or maybe their wife isn't giving them enough action?

Maybe...

Or maybe they're just pieces of trash...

Help is always welcome and a joyful surprise.

Which makes you wonder why a little bit of joyful surprise... never comes from their hearts in the first place...

In my view, that's the worst part about dogmatic religions—being intoxicated by miracles or relying on help from the heavens through prayer. You need to work on yourself to actually be a decent person.

You're basically letting me think and say that faith is exactly what helps me suppress all my bad impulses—my frustrations, laziness, and vengefulness. Besides, we Catholics believe in the Lady's words, which say that prayer is the only thing that can truly change us...

What's the point of punishment if it doesn't serve to improve or fulfill a person?

Punishment...

It's appropriate, not meant to tempt you, but eternal...

If eternity itself was meant to tempt us, then anything else that lasts forever could tempt us too...

Still, we believe God knows what He's doing, and we won't be bored...

You'd need a hell of a lot of faith to swallow those sayings from Thomas the Fool.

I agree. When you listen to certain realities of your faith, you can only assume God knows what He’s doing...

Accepting hell reminds me of the first day of Operation Desert Storm, when I almost felt bad for the other side. It’s heavy, listening to the approaching footsteps of righteous punishment, even if it's aimed at an enemy...

Looking at it from a distance, it was just, I guess, the right call and the best solution. I'm glad it happened...

I think we’ll see hell similarly—kind of like a refugee camp sitting just outside of Chicago...

You watch from heaven while your mother and daughter burn in Hell, and you just keep smiling in the Lord...

Unless God is just leading a bunch of internet memes...

Still, I believe in a more meaningful kind of eternal punishment...

It’s not impossible that hell is just death for a person who remains stuck in negative vibrations, things that don't have a consciousness like ours...

Most believers wouldn't have a clue and would run from this forum headfirst, terrified their faith might shake. You managed to hold onto yours, so hats off to you. I can see myself as a witness to the strength of your faith.

I've been given a lot, and I know the story of Jesus is true. I just know it. The only thing my perfect knowledge could be tripped up by is the possibility that I'm just some crazy meme stuck in a hallucination...

Whatever I've been given, I want to share it with others...

I always talk about the Divine Mercy Chaplet, because I want people to experience the graces I have (since Jesus promised to grant great graces to all who pray the Chaplet, truly everyone)... so they can decide for themselves if this is a monster to fear, or if it's just a good Jesus...

I don't believe in absolute evil.

I believe in absolute evil...

Maybe it isn't totally absolute while you're alive, but even then, it's big enough that we can call it absolute without much fuss...

Brooklyn!

I'm from Queens. Apparently, the folks from Queens were always more dangerous than those from Brooklyn...

Gross. An entire eternity with no way to turn it off.

Why do you think there's no way to turn it off...?

You could just switch your consciousness off for a few billion years, or however long you feel like, and then switch it back on when you're ready...

There's also the idea of resetting consciousness... you enjoy forever, and then you reset forever... you couldn't get bored...

We aren't really worried about this, though, because we know what Jesus promised. Just imagine how beautiful it is when a mystic says that in the presence of the Lady, even her own children mean nothing...

It's so beautiful you'd sacrifice your own kids just so you could enjoy eternity...🙂

Gross. Just inhuman. Look, we’re mortal beings. We grasp at the universe and reach for the stars, sure, but we aren't some kind of invincible Supermen or Superwomen. That’s just not how we’re wired.

I could probably just tear into you about this at the end, but I promised at the start of my post that I’d try to turn your atheistic afterlife into something a little more pleasant than pure sludge...

So, when you eventually find yourself standing at the crossroads of dimensions, reality, and all those big decisions after life passes you by, I really hope you have the guts to choose to dissolve back into nature and become one beautiful, ripe tomato...

Honestly, that existence would probably be a lot more meaningful than anything in Heaven...☕

image

Conclusion:

Why did Jesus die?

Jesus died so people wouldn't have to choose to turn into tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, or rosemary...

Trust me, it’s much better to just take Jesus' hand...

Well, you'll be living "next to a pile of garbage" too if you believe in eternal Hell. St. Fool says the blessed in Heaven spend their time staring down at the damned in Hell, feeling happy about their suffering—even if they're their own kids. So yeah, you'll spend all eternity right next to that "trash" of men and women.

Question for you...

🙂

1. Would you want to live for all eternity next to someone who, if God tested them with free will, wouldn't just assault your family, but wouldn't even feel a shred of regret for doing it?

a.) Living forever next to something you can never escape sounds like a total nightmare to me. I'd rather just vanish in an instant or melt into something else than stare at God for eternity.

b.) Why does someone choose to commit such an act? Maybe because "God gave them" a broken brain lacking empathy, some degenerate DNA... Or maybe the Devil talked them into it? Jesus couldn't change his heart, but surely he could change someone else's? Still, it's a pretty powerful angel fighting and gambling against God. lol

I don't get where people get the idea that there are people among us so purely evil that they deserve eternal torture. It's a monstrous way to think.

God gives us free will specifically so we can create ourselves...

Your point only makes sense if free will actually doesn't exist...

If free will exists, your whole argument is nonsense...

It’s pretty obvious you don't believe in free will, which means you don't believe in guilt either. To you, God is responsible for everything...

Question for you...

If you claim we are just what we are because of nature or God—meaning we have zero free will—then why are you so obsessed with painting Christians as monsters?

Maybe it's just stupid memes. I mean, you aren't even responsible for not being a meme, since nature or God decided you wouldn't be, not you...

So, what's the actual difference between you and Thomas the Fool?

Or between you and those crazy inquisitors?

Or between you and me?

Because if there's no free will, there's no difference. It's all just something else's doing. So why get so angry at religious fanatics...?

Why even try to influence anything with your writing if you truly believe nature dictates everything...?

You're basically stumbling around in an atheist "illusion of meaning". You take the atheist belief in a meaningless existence and try this acrobatic maneuver to turn it into some supposed struggle for a better, more advanced world...

What kind of struggle can there be if we don't have free will...?

Just atheist acrobatic nonsense......

Anyone who doesn't believe in free will can't call for change, because that's just a contradiction and total stupidity...

Living forever without the chance to ever stop sounds like a nightmare of desolation to me.

This kind of intellectual hibernation when imagining heavenly pleasures comes from a desire to make Christian reality look worse than the atheist one (merging with filthy crap, excuse me, stars)...

Why does someone choose to rape? Well, again, it's because "God gave them" a broken brain lacking certain empathy centers.

No, seriously, in some parts of the world, rapists make up 50% of the male population (Orange Farm), while in all of South Africa, that percentage is around 25%... and let's not even talk about war conditions, or we'll have to start conjuring apocalyptic rivers of blood...

Basically, you just have to set the circumstances to see who most people around Washington, D.C. really are—people whose biggest sin is stabbing others in the back or constantly insulting and bullying everyone they meet...

I don't know where people get off thinking there are folks walking around us who are just pure evil and deserve eternal torture. It’s a monstrous way to think, I guess. Just a really twisted idea.

I know a ton of people who:

They just love talking trash. Honestly, they exist just to insult and humiliate people in the most disgusting ways possible—all just for their own sick amusement. They trample all over everyone else just to have a laugh. I guess that's just how they are.

It wouldn't even help you if you decided to starve yourself right in front of them... I guess.

They’re just so incredibly jealous of anything that actually holds value in this life. Honestly, I think they’d rather see you get run over on a highway in Chicago than see you succeed. It's pathetic, really. This kind of human malice pops up in every era, I guess. Just look at how things went down during the Nazi era—it was basically just mass jealousy from a huge chunk of society directed right at the Jews. They were collectively targeted, and most of the German people actually backed it.)...

The absolute worst part about all of this is that look in their eyes. I mean, Jesus really nailed it when he said...They say the eyes are the lamp of the soul. I guess that makes sense, in a way. Maybe. It’s like looking directly into someone's core, if you believe all that stuff. Or maybe it's just biology. Who knows? You can justify just about anything a person does. Maybe they were acting out of pure spite, or maybe they were just being incredibly boring. I guess that’s fine. But there is one thing you just can't defend—it's actually impossible to justify that specific look in someone's eyes. When you look at a person, you can see their entire world playing out in their head. You can read them. And when you realize someone is looking down at you like you’re some kind of lesser creature... without an ounce of love or even a shred of compassion? Yeah. That’s the worst.

If they got a second chance, I guess they wouldn't just stop at rape. They’d probably just keep torturing everyone in sight, endlessly, without ever feeling even a shred of regret for the evil they do.

People like that... I mean, they really are. Pure evil....

When it comes to the realm of evil—whatever they're actually capable of—those people are just pure evil. Plain and simple. I guess God can try to plant a little seed of goodness in them through good people or maybe some spiritual intervention, but that’s about it. If they refuse to take it? Well, then pure evil is just going to be their fate forever. Period.

It’s not even about what they deserve, really. It’s more about where they actually belong. They belong in a world without love, but honestly, the worst of them? They belong somewhere much darker than that.Because, let's be real, not everyone is built the same.Honestly, even after you die, you shouldn't go entertaining that offer the Devil made to Jesus regarding all the kingdoms of this world. I guess it’s just better to stay away from that kind of temptation entirely. But without the kingdom of heaven in your heart...Honestly, I don't think just punishing them isn't enough. They really need to be punished for all eternity. Some people just straight-up deserve to suffer... I guess.

So, you live in Washington, D.C.?

Tell me which neighborhood you're talking about, because I'm pretty sure I've never even crossed paths with anyone from that part of town. To the dwellers of hell.... ?

So, I guess you guys who actually believe in an eternal hell are just going to spend forever living "amidst a pile of garbage." According to St. Fool, the blessed folks in heaven spend their entire existence staring down at the damned in hell, watching them suffer—and they’re happy about it. Even if those people suffering happen to be their own kids. So, basically, you'll spend all of eternity stuck right next to that absolute trash heap of men and women you call people.

This is honestly great news...

God is just so good that we’re actually going to have constant oversight over this whole senseless existence out there. I guess. Maybe. It's all just too much to wrap my head around sometimes. The heavenly kingdoms. ...or maybe just about the suffering. Hellraiser...

That’s how we’ll always be able to see exactly how much they’re struggling. I guess God is just too transparent for that; He always makes it clear that there's no such thing as excessive suffering or anything being undeserved. It's impossible for some devilish type to stand there and claim otherwise.Man, I’m done. Honestly? I regret everything. I’ve had enough." , "Oh man, please, no more. I'll be good, I promise."...

It just doesn't exist...

There’s just this pure wickedness that swallowed them whole and turned them straight into devils. And honestly, that malice just keeps craving evil over and over again, only to get kicked in the teeth every single time. I guess it's just how it goes.

And here we are, just watching it all unfold from the sidelines. I guess we’re just sitting back, enjoying the view, and soaking up every bit of paradise while it lasts. Maybe that's the plan.

It's like when some total piece of trash decides, out of nowhere, that they just want to smash my friend and humiliate them. He’s just acting out because he’s jealous. And honestly? He's stronger than me. I guess. In a beautiful little twist of fate, my buddy absolutely destroyed him. We just sat there on the sidelines, smoking a joint and crushing some donuts, totally enjoying every single second of watching that idiot leader get wrecked.

And in Heaven, it’ll just be like that over and over again every single day...😍

Just wondeeeerful... 👏👏👏

Inconsistent with the Tao? So you think God just implants an evil chip in people.

Your point only makes sense if free will doesn't actually exist...

Not really. That's just a theological construct.

It’s obvious you don't believe in free will, and therefore not in guilt. You blame God for everything...

If it existed, or if we could even say anything about Him. The idea that God is to blame is senseless. There’s no culprit, and the whole question is moot.

Question for you...

🙂

If you claim we were created this way by nature or God—meaning we have no free will—then why do you keep trying to demonize Christians?

I never demonize them. I'm just pointing out a monstrous book, monstrous ideas, and a monstrous conception of God.

So we're just stupid memes. And you aren't even responsible for not being a meme, because nature or God decided you weren't one, not you...

We're more than just memes.

So what's the difference between you and Thomas the Fool?
Or between you and those crazy inquisitors?
Or between you and me?

Depends on how you look at it. At some level, there isn't one. But that's "higher mathematics."

Because if there's no free will, there's no difference. Everything is just predetermined by someone else. Why bother getting angry at crazy religious people then...?

Why try so hard to influence things through your writing if you believe nature determines everything?

What’s the point of waving your hands when there's a mosquito buzzing in your ear? Just a reflex?

You're basically just rolling around in some atheist "illusion of meaning". You take the atheist belief in a meaningless existence and try to pull off this acrobatic stunt where you turn it into a struggle for a better, more advanced world...

I mean, what else is left for us? 🤷

How can there be any kind of struggle if we don't even have free will...?

Someone who doesn't believe in free will can't advocate for any kind of change, because that’s just a contradiction and total nonsense...

A mosquito buzzes, you swat at it. What's the big deal?

This kind of intellectual hibernation, while imagining heavenly pleasures, is driven by a desire to make Christian reality look worse than the atheist one (merging with disgusting crap, excuse me, stars)...

The stars aren't "disgusting crap." Show some respect to your celestial parents. 🙄

Nah, in some parts of the world, rapists commit crimes against 50% of the male population (Orange Farm) during peaceful times, while in all of South Africa, that percentage is about 25%... and let's not even get into wartime conditions, unless we want to start summoning apocalyptic rivers of blood...

Let's be real. Disease and brutal poverty are ravaging the human race. There are more mental illnesses than physical ones.

So, all you need to do is set up the circumstances to see who most people around Washington, D.C. really are—people whose biggest sin is stabbing others in the back or constantly insulting and bullying everyone else...

But why is someone malicious and violent? Isn't it mostly in the genes? A lack of empathy.

I know plenty of people who:

1. just screw over others, insulting and humiliating people in the worst ways just for their own amusement. They trample on people just for kicks...

Maybe they have high blood pressure, or someone stepped on their toes, or they've got nervous guts, an ulcer, or maybe their wife won't let them?

2. they wouldn't even help you if you were starving right in front of them...

Help is always a welcome surprise. I’m not out here begging anyone for a hand.

3. they’re so jealous of anything with actual value that they’d rather just take you out on the street (this kind of human malice pops up in every era—take the Nazi era, for example, where mass jealousy from a huge chunk of society was aimed at Jews, who were collectively targeted and supported by most Germans)...

Yeah. There's something deeply broken in a lot of people...

4. the absolute worst part is the look in their eyes. Jesus said it best when He said "the eyes are the lamp of the soul". You can excuse almost anything else a person does—cruelty, boredom, whatever. But that look? It’s impossible to justify. You can read an entire universe inside someone's head through their gaze. And when you see someone looking down at you like you're some lesser creature, totally devoid of love or empathy...

True. I still believe in the Man with the spark in his eye. It's depressing, though not necessarily sad, to see how much that light has faded, especially in the younger generation. Everyone seems so numb... and yet, look around! Existence itself is a miracle.

5. in other scenarios, they wouldn't just commit assault; they'd never stop tormenting others with their wickedness and would never feel a shred of remorse...

Sick.

People like that are pure evil...

Sick. Though honestly, plenty of them deserve to have their "career" on this Earth cut short immediately.

Quote:
Within the scope of the evil they're capable of, they really are pure evil. God can only try to plant a seed of goodness through things like Lourdes or through decent people. If they don't take it, pure evil will be their fate forever...
Some religions actually feed into that evil because they encourage people to just sit still and never question their own behavior. To me, that's the biggest flaw in dogmatic religions—getting high on miracles or relying on heaven to bail you out through prayer. You should be working on yourself to actually become a decent human being.

It isn't about what they deserve, it's about where they belong. They belong in a world without love, but for the worst among them (since we aren't all equal), they shouldn't even be given the same offer the Devil gave Jesus regarding all the kingdoms of this world (Ali without the kingdom of heaven in one's heart , they really ought to be punished for all eternity. Some people just deserve the grind...

What's the point of all the world's kingdoms when we're just mortals? If we lose sight of that, we become corruptible by anything and everything. What's the purpose of suffering if it isn't meant to fix a person, or rather, help them achieve themselves?

Do you live in Washington, D.C.?

Tell me which neighborhood, since you clearly haven't run into any hell-raisers... ?
Brooklyn! 🙂

That sounds like wonderful news...

God is just so kind that we get to have a front-row seat to the meaningless existence outside the heavenly kingdom , or get to watch the misery of hell-dwellers...
Good news is always tied to bad news, specifically the fact that an endless abyss of hell hangs over us. Have you offended the Holy Spirit? How do you even know you haven't, considering there's no forgiveness for that.

You’d need some serious faith to swallow these quotes from Thomas. You're sitting in heaven watching your own mother and daughter burn in Hell, and you're just smiling at the Lord...

That way we'll always know exactly how much they're suffering, and our transparent God will constantly show us that there's no such thing as excessive or undeserved pain, and that no resident of hell will ever say, "Man, I regret this, enough already" , "Geez, I don't want to do this anymore, I'll be good"...

So you're backing Saint Thomas Aquinas the Fool... OK. You're doing it while being fully aware of all the contradictions and the nonsense surrounding the virginity issue. I respect that. You've made a conscious choice for your faith, knowing the problems and the dogmas. Most believers wouldn't have a clue and would flee this forum immediately out of fear that their faith might waver. You managed to hold onto yours, so hats off to you. I can see I'm witnessing the strength of your belief. 😉 😁

There is only the wickedness that swallowed them and turned them into devils, and that wickedness always seeks evil anew, and always gets kicked in the teeth for it...

I don't believe in absolute evil. Just in a sickness that is curable, even if it borders on a miracle.

Meanwhile, we’re just watching from the sidelines, enjoying the absolute bliss of paradise...

Good luck! :-)

It’s like when some loser, out of nowhere, tries to bully my buddy (acting tough because he's jealous and thinks he's stronger). In a beautiful twist of fate, my friend absolutely wrecked him. We were just standing there, smoking a joint, crushing donuts, and enjoying every single second of seeing that idiot get taken down...

Violence is everywhere; it's baked into who we are. No one gets a pass. Today you're the helpless victim being humiliated, tomorrow you're the one holding the grudge and swinging back.

And in Paradise, it'll be like that every single day...😍

Gross. An entire eternity with no way to opt out.

Soooo lovely. 👏

Disgusting. It's inhuman. We’re mortal beings meant to grasp the universe and reach for the stars. We aren't some invincible, eternal Supermen or Superwomen. That's just not how we're wired.

Who exactly is this St. Fool, and could you provide a specific source for this claim you're making?
Who exactly is this St. Fool, and could you provide a specific source for this claim you're making?
That’s Saint Thomas Aquinas (the Fool), basically the heavyweight champion of Christian theology. He spent his life (1225-1274) churning out this weird mix of high-society philosophy and just cherry-picking the Bible, all wrapped up in some pretty dark, sadistic vibes. He claims one of the "divine joys in paradise" is having a "perfectly clear view of the sufferings of the damned." (Phyllis, The Jesus Hoax: p.55 Knight, Honest to Man: p.51)

Thomas Aquinas (the Fool) writes the following:

1) that the saved will see the torments of the damned perfectly clearly, just so their own bliss feels even sweeter by comparison,
2) that they won't feel an ounce of pity for the souls in hell, even if it was their own mother, because feeling sorry for them would be an insult to God's justice,
3) that the souls in paradise will indirectly find joy in the suffering of the damned because it serves as a vivid demonstration of how righteous God is.

In his "famous" masterpiece, Summa Theologica, he wraps things up by saying: "a heretic deserves ecclesiastical excommunication and secular execution—death, just like any criminal."

Drew Watson3 said:This is honestly the first time I've ever heard anyone suggest that Christian philosophers view free will as some kind of programming chip designed to push us toward evil. If we want to use technical language, free will is essentially just a binary switch between 0 and 1, and how you choose to flip that switch is entirely up to you! At the very least, you have the right to choose, so if you flip it toward the good, then free will is a wonderful thing, but if you flip it toward evil... well, that's your call again. Free will isn't some glitch in our genetic code that prevents us from functioning properly; rather, it's simply the capacity for choice: an "if-then-else" logic gate...
Overall, Anthony Perez9, I really think you might be misinterpreting Christian philosophy here, though I completely agree with you when you say that harmony isn't slavery (in Christian terms, slavery would be sin, or being bound to any form of evil)... basically, anything that stands in opposition to harmony—which Christians believe is God's perfect harmony—is considered slavery or evil. I don't see where the contradiction lies in your stance, other than your belief that free will was specifically designed to predispose us toward evil...

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone claim Christian philosophers think free will is a chip used to program us for evil.[/I]
And who exactly said "any Christian philosopher" claims that? 😕

If we're talking technical terms, free will is just a 0 or 1 switch, and how you flip it is on you. At least you have the choice. Flip it toward good, and free will is great; flip it toward evil... well, again, that's your call.

You clearly aren't even reading what I wrote. You're just stuck in your own head...

Free will isn't some bug in the genetic code making humans malfunction; it's just the ability to choose: If - then - else.

Look, Anthony Perez9, I think you're totally misinterpreting Christian philosophy. You're right that harmony isn't slavery (in Christian terms, being tied to any evil would be considered slavery/sin), meaning anything out of sync with harmony—and Christians believe God is perfect harmony—is either slavery or evil. I don't see the contradiction in your view, except for your assumption that free will was designed specifically to predispose us to evil.

Did God plant that in Adam and Eve? Or did they just grab it for themselves when they ate the forbidden fruit?

Was God created them in harmony, and then they messed up by eating the fruit and gaining the power to decide (including deciding for evil)? God forbade it. So where does free will come from, and what actually is it?
If it's the power to choose between good and evil, what's the point? If the first humans were living in harmony, the only thing they could possibly "gain" was the capacity to choose evil..

Drew Watson3 said:Whether you call it the Tao, the universe, the divine, or God—whatever terminology you prefer—you hit the nail on the head by using the word "disharmony" to describe striking out against or drifting away from Perfection... And honestly, I don't see any contradiction with how Christian theologians view things, because you absolutely can use your free will to either align with or rebel against the "divine"...

Whether you call it Tao, the universe, the divine, or God—whatever—you used the word "dissonance" correctly to describe striking out against or moving away from Perfection. And sure, you can use your free will to act in harmony or dissonance with the "divine." I don't see how that contradicts Christian theologians.[/I]

You dodged the question. Is the concept of "free will" inherently good or bad? ☕

God creates this dissonance—this so-called free will—and builds it right into us, just so half of humanity can spend eternity in hell. It doesn't add up.

Personally, I think freedom is a positive thing; it’s basically living in the Tao, metaphorically speaking. Being in sync with the universe. Harmony isn't slavery. Christian theologians keep arguing that humans would just be robots if they lived in harmony with the Tao, so God had to install a "choice chip" for evil, aka free will. Seems pretty contradictory to me.

Drew Watson3 said:But I have to ask, what would a "perfect" world actually look like to you? Would it be a world where humans function like programmed robots, incapable of ever making a mistake, or would it be a world where we possess true free will—where we stumble and fail, but possess the capacity to learn from those errors, guided by a God who offers eternal forgiveness and a fresh start every single time we mess up? Or perhaps you have some other vision entirely?...

If you live by the Tao, your will aligns with the universe. 😁
Going against the Tao isn't an act of freedom; it's just being out of sync with the "divine." As for free will, the way Christian theologians spin it feels like total nonsense—just some desperate apologetics meant to justify that snake in the Bible and the Creator.

Is free will actually a good thing if it ends up tossing half of humanity into eternal hell?
Is it a good move to create something that drives half of people away from God? Is being separated from God even a good thing? If not, then "free will" itself looks pretty evil. Why would God give us something so broken in the first place? 🙂
