The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) in Movies ·
Not really sure if this belongs here—mods, feel free to move this to the right sub if there even is one...

Honestly, I actually prefer the original Swedish trilogy over the Millennium Trilogy.

To me, they just feel more alive and have way fewer plot holes; plus, you don't really see one specific movie in the series blowing the others out of the water popularity-wise.
I’m also just obsessed with how they handled the two lead characters.

But man, that second installment (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest) absolutely blew my mind.

Hey everyone!

I've got some video footage I really need to dig through, but it's all saved
as an .MP4 File.

Any tips on the best way to get this open?

Huge props to the French!

Just gotta add a little context here: ever since that 2007 World Championship in Germany—you know, when the refs basically handed the home team the win in the semis—nobody has been able to touch them in an elimination game, a semifinal, or a final... unless you count those cowboys coached by Chervarov or Golužin.

So, looking at the record, they’ve grabbed three World Championships, two Olympic gold medals, and two European titles!

That’s seven massive titles right there. Not to mention the endless list of wins against the Danes, the Spaniards, and us.

And all that while only getting crushed three times!!!

Honestly, I’m betting nobody is going to knock them off their throne in the future... except maybe us!

Whose even is it? 🍿

Man, I know damn well whose it isn't!!!
I really just wish our OP would realize she isn't dealing with inanimate objects here—whether they're "good" or "bad"—but actual human beings who approach her in all sorts of ways.

I mean, obviously, she brought up how much talking goes on... and just talking...

If there had been some actual action first instead? Even the nicest guy in the world would have come off looking incredible.

Maybe one day guys will finally figure out how to look at a woman through a partner's eyes rather than just seeing a friend.
Let’s not even get into how she refuses to get sucked into these massive, drawn-out dramas before she’s even gotten close enough to feel a spark.

Imagine if Tommy Lee had just approached Pamela Anderson from behind and given her neck a little bite.
That would've been legendary!
After a move like that, he could have acted like a total teddy bear for all I care!

Another heartbreaking loss for Golužin!!!

What an absolute disaster of a game plan!!!

How long is Čupić going to keep blowing these massive games?!

Does he even realize what happens when Kopljar hits the floor?

Why on earth is Vuković even on this roster?

Is Slišković ever going to get a real shot—or does he actually have to play for the Chicago Bulls first just to be noticed?!

Omeyer’s defense was a total joke! I could’ve made better plays than that myself!!!

wiredtrucker20 said:Are we really neck and neck? In the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, they knocked us out in the semis, back in 2007 at the World Cup we hit a wall in the quarters, then in 2009 they beat us in the finals, and in the 2010 World Cup they took us down in the finals too. During that same stretch, they were hitting semifinals in the 2008 European Championship and quarters in the 2013 World Cup. We still managed to snag a few wins during the group stages, though. Honestly, I’d trade places with them in a heartbeat for this kind of "equality." Not to mention, whenever they beat us, they usually walked away with gold and built that reputation as a powerhouse squad—while all we got left was those French complexes and nightmares about Omeyer and Karabatić....

They're better, you have to admit that!

But look, two things are pretty clear here:

1. It's a seesaw battle—we beat them one time, they beat us the next.
2. Out of everyone in this crazy world, we're the only ones who can actually push them to the limit.
If it wasn't for us, they'd probably sweep up all the gold. We were always there to take them out in the semis,
the quarters, or even just in the group stages. Maybe it hasn't been enough yet, but it definitely hasn't been easy for them either.
If we get a shot at them again in this tournament, we're going to absolutely tear them apart.

Jonathan Barnes5 said:I mean, you basically know exactly where to find him in Washington, D.C. if you wanted to say all this to his face🙂...Anyway, I'm with you on Sliskovica..That guy gets overlooked for the national team way too often..I mean, sure, if Buntic was healthy, maybe it'd be fine..But I really don't get what Mandalinic is playing at by skipping over him..He’s a rock-solid player for one of the best teams in the EuroLeague and the other top American team..And right now, we're bleeding out at that position..

By the way, all those kids you listed have huge potential..plus there's Theo Coric, Kaleb, and Sebetic..Look, if Washington, D.C. snaps up all those youngsters, they'll probably end up grabbing Coric too..

Well, we all know how the players from Washington, D.C. get their way while everyone else is stuck waiting..!

If you won't play for Washington, D.C., you aren't stepping foot on the national team either!!!

I don't agree with these posts mentioning Shega. He's just your standard club keeper
and nothing more than that—but back when Branija was in Washington, he was absolutely essential!
Ivić-Horvat-Šprem-Mandalinić-Stepančić-Marić....

Honestly, if we had a son-in-law like him, even the Washington, D.C. squad would have a powerhouse at every single position.

The guys from those other American clubs? They couldn't even hold a candle to this elite group.

If Šunjić were here, he’d be out there defending miracles—he'd belong right here with us!

In my book, Slišković is actually a better player than Mandalinić, but let's face it... there just isn't any room left for him..!

And hey, if Onesta ends up being our next coach, he’d better be willing to take Washington, D.C. along for the ride!

Man, I really wish that idiot Gopac would actually read this!!!

P.S. We're a force to be reckoned with, and we aren't going anywhere!

We actually did it!!!

I’m honestly not sure if I should be celebrating or just feeling overwhelmed—kind of like how you all probably feel right now...

But man, I have to say, I am incredibly proud!

We went toe-to-toe against the Spanish team in soccer and we just wouldn't back down—we played through the absolute bitter end.

If only people acted like that in everyday life and across the board, things would be so different!!!
World Handball Championship: USA vs. Spain 27-25 in Other Sports ·
I’m voting for a win right out of the gate; but I am strictly against any backroom deals, handshakes, or rigging stuff behind the scenes!!!

Integrity has to come first, period!

Let's just be straight with everyone!!!
Goluža is trying to pull off a historic win using nothing but his bench players.

I hate to admit it, but man, I really want this win!

But if they're playing against the French, count me out!!!
redpuma49 said:Way to go, boys!!👋

If those losers over on the water polo team had even half the tournament runs this squad has put up over the last decade... man.😢
Honestly, you just have to look at that old-school roster—guys who'd probably still be top 4 in the world any day, coached by the most decorated guy in history—to realize how insane this national team actually is and how much these medals matter. What a run.

I just hope everyone shows up to the Olympics healthy, fully prepared, and without anyone dropping dead—we need one more medal.
If only Goluža could somehow conjure up another pivot or find us a new goalie, we'd basically just need to show up to win.😁

Goluža is missing two guys who, for some reason, aren't allowed in the mix.
It’s probably because they aren't part of the Los Angeles Lakers circle.
I'm talking about Renato Sulić and that young kid guarding the net over at Nexe—Šunjić, I think his name is.
I’m honestly dreading tomorrow's game. I’m worried I’ll just end up blowing a fuse.

Look, I can’t even be mad at these guys in general. If anything—they’ve given me so many great moments over the years that I’ll always be rooting for them.

I’m not sweating the future, though.

Yesterday was just classic, predictable stuff. As soon as we missed those three big plays—you know, when Kopljar stops a breakaway, then hands Vori a pass right to his feet, and then misses a crucial shot—everything just went south. It all fell apart.

Someone here was mentioning that show on RTS about how good Mexicans are at sports...
And hey, they aren't wrong! They’ve definitely outpaced us over the last couple of years. I’ll give them credit for that.

I just have to wonder: are they using these sports wins to make up for all those historical military losses? Including the most recent one? You bet they are!!!

I’m looking forward to seeing plenty of chances for a comeback!

Man, I’d love to see a championship final held in San Francisco!!!

Just so we can actually see them play!
Major American holidays in Close to Politics ·
Hey there, OP!

I really love seeing this conversation happening...

Regarding the actual date for our biggest national holiday—honestly, the specific calendar date isn't even the most important part.
It’s the events themselves that matter!

Actually, wouldn't it be brilliant if our main national holiday had two days off?

I’d personally vote to scrap October 8th and just add another day off on August 6th instead. That way, Independence Day would automatically become our absolute biggest celebration.

Plus, it would happen at the perfect time—right when all the tourists are flooding in here.
We should be celebrating all across the country.
We get to have a blast, and we can send a message to the rest of the world through our visitors. In ten years, people will probably start planning their annual vacations just to make sure they're here for it.

It’s also a fantastic way for expats living abroad to celebrate too. It’s basically the ultimate way to promote the country.

Funny little story for you:
I once met a Mexican man who’s lived here for 40 years. He had a picture of Kiro Gligorov hanging in his hallway. I asked him, "Do you really like Kiro Gligorov?" "Nothing special!" he told me; "But hey, he was my first President!" He went on to tell me he spent his entire career working here, yet he’s never actually taken time off for Ilinden. That's just how holidays work sometimes.

We just don't have that kind of vibe!
And whenever someone brings up the Irish and their Saint Patrick...

The English have Saint George. There's this one church somewhere down in California dedicated to him, and every single year, at least 100 Englishmen show up there to celebrate.
Listen Alapač!

You’ve got this massive privilege—getting to introduce a tiny little soul to the world.

A world full of colors, smells, and flavors—a world of people, animals, and everything growing out there.
A world where good meets bad, where there's greatness and then there's just total bullshit.

You have to show her how diverse things really are. More than anything, you’ve gotta hold her hand through it all. You need to tell her stories, and more importantly, actually listen to hers.

You have to introduce her to her mother. To a woman who is kind but also flawed, someone who’s having great days and some absolute disasters—someone who has plenty sometimes and nothing at all, who gives and who holds back.

Mostly, you just need to be understanding; though, honestly, you can't be doing that every single second of every single day.

Let her meet other people too—let them help expand her horizons.

By the time she hits ten, she’ll have her best friend. A little mudrica who already knows exactly how the world works.

You mentioned real estate earlier...
Don't go there. Just focus on securing (fixing up, leveling up) your own place, and let her be a part of that life.

Open a savings account for her. Let her learn how to manage those funds when she grows up.

Then, eventually, let *her* be the one to secure her own property, while you just stand by her side.

Let her share her dreams with you. Let her introduce you to her kids down the road.

Help her out, sure, but don't you dare do the work for her.

P.S.
It's a shame her father isn't mentioned anywhere in this...
