Just set up a new profile using whatever handle you want and that should be about it, though I guess you'll still be stuck with a limit of four posts anyway.
You should probably head into one of those shops that carries all those little trinkets—you know, the kind of places they call gift shops, I suppose🤷

I honestly feel like we should just have an automated ban system in place for these kinds of inquiries 🤷

What actually bothers me is that he can't hear, he can't carry a tune, and his English is pretty rough—he basically swallowed half the lyrics in that last Beatles song. Personally, I think it would be way better if Jack moved on instead. 🙂

man. (instead of Jack, I'd probably go with Jack or Daria) 😁

Not quite yet, though I guess word on the street is he's always pulled in the most votes so far. 🤷
If you want more details on how everyone is reacting to all this, you might want to check out that American Idol 2011 thread on TV PDF for more info. 😉

edit: and honestly, to the person who started this thread, why go around insulting "old geezers" like that? I mean, plenty of people who are a bit older still have incredible voices, and singers usually just refine their craft as they age. It's not even like Ziggy Marley is that old. Personally, I wasn't really feeling his performance at the Eurovision Song Contest this year, but there's no need to resort to calling someone an old geezer. 🙄

The Olsen brothers won Eurovision one year, and they weren't exactly kids, plus their song was pretty much perfect. So, that's enough about the old geezers, I suppose. 😁

How greedy can you even get?! 🙄

Maybe this is all just some kind of favor for a certain interest group, so I suppose there might not be another hike coming down the pike quite yet.🤷

I think I heard somewhere that they might bump it up to 14? Or maybe I just misread something somewhere...🤔

I was wondering if anyone knows what the monthly maintenance fees for a checking account at Chase are these days?

I was doing a little digging and it looks like in some instances people have gone with that second option—like someone just before me—but most seem to be leaning toward this third one 🤣
thanks for getting back to me, though; I suppose the main thing is just making sure it isn't anything too serious 🙂

hey 👋

I have a bit of a question... whenever I finish posting in a thread and my comment happens to be the very last one, I click the link at the bottom of the page to head back to the main list. Usually, that thread jumps straight to the top of the list and the text turns unbolded, but lately, this weird thing keeps happening:
image

Basically, the text doesn't unbold; it stays looking bolded, almost as if the system hasn't registered that I was actually the last person to post. And then, when I try to use the little arrow icon to jump straight to the first unread post, it just lands me right back on my own comment. I guess I'm just wondering why it does that when it’s clearly my post 😕
(this thread about the last thing you guys bought is just an example)

George Barrett35 said:You can't just stack up open checking accounts like they're trading cards, whether it's at one bank or spread across several different ones.

The account your scholarship provider sets up belongs entirely to you; it isn't some kind of power of attorney arrangement.
When you sign that scholarship agreement, you're essentially authorizing the provider to open an account on your behalf, which means you really ought to have informed them about any existing accounts you already hold, unless, of course, you plan on closing the old one first.

So, how am I supposed to handle this now? I mean, I’ve had accounts open at both Chase and Bank of America for over a year, so I guess I'm just a bit lost on what happens next.🤷

I guess I’m wondering if there’s an actual official handbook or some kind of formal regulation somewhere I can dig into for the specifics, mostly because everyone seems to have their own version of the truth and I'm getting wildly different stories from just about everyone.

It doesn't really matter, I suppose, since we're all stuck in capitalism anyway. But if it helps you sleep better, just remember that every single system in history has eventually collapsed, so maybe this one will follow suit one day too.
And honestly, looking at your points, it seems like it’s more about your own sense of morality that's bothering you than the actual mechanics of how things work. You could have just said that in your opening post instead of dragging us through this roundabout way of arguing that doesn't even tie back to what you originally wrote.
You can spend days beating your head against the wall over this, but I think you probably realize by now that you can't actually change the world. When the people in power—and I'm not just talking about the current administration, but everyone from local leaders to global institutions—are essentially bought and paid for, they just write laws that serve the interest groups funding them while they pull all the strings. Real change requires a critical mass, and if you ask me, reaching that point feels pretty much impossible.

So then you'll have to explain to me how people are actually supposed to handle transactions with one another if we go down this road.
And if an entrepreneur doesn't have enough capital upfront, how are they meant to get a business off the ground without relying on credit? I mean, if credit is being issued, what’s the catch—is it just supposed to be handed out for free? Or should interest rates still exist to compensate the people who bother putting their money into a bank in the first place?
And don't even get me started on fees; I guess nobody is doing anything for free these days. If you have even a passing familiarity with how economics works, you probably realize that profit is the primary motivator for everything.

So, what kind of currency do you think we should actually be using for these transactions? Tell me, what's your take?

So, I guess we're just assuming Ziggy is going to take home the win then?

I suppose we could just go back to melting down gold and adding alloys to refine it 🤦
or maybe we should try dealing with sheep instead, since you’re basically trying to charge me for a whole sheep when I’m only getting three-quarters of one for my money.

Ever since I started college, professors have been going on about how that isn't really considered the gold standard for measuring well-being anymore. And I'm not just hearing this from some economics grads who probably know more about it than any political science major would, but even from my actual professor at Columbia University
🤣
so, maybe you could tell us then, how exactly are we supposed to fix this injustice—or whatever fancy term you’d want to use for it?
