Alright, so here’s what I’m thinking: why on earth should I bother starting a brand new thread for funny photos—especially since the old one already hit about 80 pages—when there are plenty of other active threads on Forums.com that have way more volume than that?

Up until we hit page 80 of this image thread, nobody ever batted an eye at people posting GIFs, but then suddenly, the new moderator gets all worked up about them. She started making threats about banning them without even giving us a decent, constructive reason why GIFs don't belong in an image thread. I mean, if you moderators all sat down and decided on this rule together, maybe you could have just updated the rules in that PDF to explain why there needs to be a dedicated thread for GIFs instead of mixing them in with regular images.
If they just opened a separate thread for GIFs, people could keep posting images in the old one like usual. But since our usernames aren't highlighted in black, dozens of us ended up jumping in to speak up, which I guess just made things more chaotic.
I honestly love all the photos posted so far, they've been great 🙏 if you're heading out, I totally get where you're coming from, really. I can't say I was expecting any different kind of response to our questions, to be honest.
edit: Tyndall, yeah, they probably would have handed out a warning, but it's such a shame they didn't just let the posts stay up.
Kate Castillo55 made a solid point there. 1) Honestly, I wouldn't even bother opening a thread dedicated just to photos on my phone, since they tend to clutter up one side of the screen so much anyway. 2) After spending all this time reading through and contributing to this thread, it feels a bit sudden to have the rules change on us out of nowhere like this. 3) It’s a shame, really, because they actually went ahead and deleted posts that were part of the actual discussion, even though those points were pretty important.

But if they really need to be kept in separate threads, why on earth was the GIF topic locked, and why did the guy end up with a warning? http://www.reddit.com/r/threads/577388
Yeah, I guess that’s exactly where the issue lies—she just showed up out of nowhere without having contributed a single thing to the community first. And nobody even bothered to check with our regular contributors, especially William Myers7, to see if he’d be interested in stepping up as a moderator, even though he’s practically around here every single day. It feels like she just forced her way in, which, if you ask me, is a pretty shameless 🤷 . At this rate, under these new rules, they might as well just start a dedicated thread specifically for .jpg, .gif, .jpeg, and .bmp files or something 🤷 .
My signature stays the same as it was on that other thread. I also sent a note over to the administrators, since I can't quite wrap my head around why there's such pushback when so many of us actually enjoyed the funny photo thread and we haven't run into any issues until now.

He totally played me; he just wanted the photo, though he did claim they were mostly useless.☕
I mean, I guess we all know that what you learn in a textbook rarely survives its first encounter with the real world. In theory, everything works perfectly, but once you actually get out there and try to apply it, reality tends to have other plans. It’s almost like there's this massive, frustrating gap between how things are supposed to go and how they actually play out on the ground. 😁
I guess that's exactly why I haven't heard a peep from them yet. 🤣

😬
So, I guess you’ve been pulling moderator duty since 2005? 😲
I heard you’re actually pretty active on one of those PDF forums and that you’ve been a model citizen, I guess—meaning you actually write stuff that makes sense instead of just trolling everyone 😁 so maybe one of the mods or admins might reach out to see if you’d be interested in a moderation gig 😁

I'd actually like to cancel my subscription too, though honestly, I don't even care if my posts stay up. What I'm really wondering is whether my profile would get wiped out if I were to get banned from the site. Like, say, if I just started losing my cool and acting like a complete jerk in a few posts?
