The downsides of big banks in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
GDP and GDP per capita haven't really been considered the gold standard for measuring how much people are actually thriving for quite some time now, though I guess I'm not entirely sure where you're getting that from

🤦

I mean, maybe just try a quick Google search if you're really that lost.

I mean, why would the average person even care about how money is actually created? That’s exactly why they teach it at places like Wharton or Chicago Booth—because those are the people who end up managing the flow. What difference does monetary economics make to a veterinarian or a surgeon, right? 🤷
If you actually want to wrap your head around it, I suppose you'd need to dig into some actual academic literature, though maybe just giving this a look might help.

Maybe give that documentary *Money as Debt* a watch if you can't be bothered to slog through actual monetary economics textbooks instead.

edit: And just to be clear, it isn't some disgusting scam; it’s just that today's paper money is fiat currency, assuming you've heard the term. Basically, it all relies on trusting that random scrap of paper and having faith in the CB.
Which bank should I choose for a new account? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I'm not even looking at checking accounts, just a basic savings 😁
and honestly, I think it's about 56% more expensive rather than 67 :P

Gerald Palmer66 said:Well, in that specific scenario, they are technically the account holders, while you're essentially just acting as an authorized representative.
in that case.

So, I guess if that's the deal, I could potentially have my own checking account while also being listed as an authorized user on someone else's account at the same bank? thanks for clarifying. 🙂

Gerald Palmer66 said:No, not at the same bank.

Just give them the routing and account numbers for the one you already have, and that should be enough to settle things.

Besides, since you're the only one with the legal authority to open a bank account, no one else can just go out and open one in your name anyway.

How could that be impossible? I mean, I’ve already gone through the whole process of signing scholarship contracts for a few different grants, and then, about ten days later, I just showed up at the bank to pick up my debit card. It's pretty straightforward, I guess. 🤷

So, I've already got a checking account set up at my bank. Now, I’m about to sign this scholarship agreement, and it looks like the provider is going to open a separate account for me at that same institution. I was just wondering, is it actually possible for one person to hold two different checking accounts at the same bank? 😕
Thanks for any insight if anyone happens to know how this works.
Taylor Swift in Music ·
So, I think I heard correctly that the song is already written and picked out, and now they're just down to deciding who actually gets to sing it? Which basically means there aren't any new songs coming, unless you count the one that's already sitting there waiting or 😕

thanks again, I guess🙂

thanks🙂
hypothetically speaking: if someone actually wanted to buy this forum, is that even a possibility, and I wonder how much something like that would even cost?

Is it just me, or is it impossible to send private messages to banned users? I guess there might be some reason for it, but why exactly does it work this way?

Thanks so much🙂
I guess I should probably ask one more thing: what’s actually the point of those prefixes? Are they going to be tacked onto every single PDF from here on out?

I was wondering if there's a way to make thread titles show up in different colors, you know, like how "Buying" shows up as green and "Selling" shows up as red? I think I saw a few posts where someone had colored letters at the start and then the rest of the title stayed the usual color
Insulting public figures in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Jessica Cox2 said:Hey there!!

I’ve noticed that you guys allow people on this forum to go after American politicians like Kamala Harris, the former Prime Minister... George W. Bush, the former President... Al Gore, the former Secretary... Eric Adams, the Mayor of Washington, D.C.... and plenty of others. What kind of forum is this, where you only permit criticism against politicians who don't suit your personal tastes? Well, you are ultimately responsible for everything posted on this site. Besides, you're actually violating your own forum rules, which state that anything opposing the laws of the United States Government is strictly prohibited... and under the United States Government legal code, it says:

Article 199.
Anyone who insults another through the press, radio, television, in front of a group of people, at a public gathering, or by any other means that makes the insult accessible to a larger number of people,
shall be punished by a fine of up to sixty days' wages or imprisonment for up to six months.

and

Article 200.

Anyone who publishes or carries false information regarding another person that could damage their honor or reputation through the press, radio, television, in front of a group of people, at a public gathering, or by any other means that makes the libel accessible to a larger number of people,
shall be punished by a fine or imprisonment for up to one year.

So, go ahead—just ignore this thread and continue straight into violating both the laws of the United States Government and your own forum rules.

thanks

I haven't exactly seen any of those government officials you mentioned popping up on the forums to complain about being insulted, I guess. ☕

And I should probably ask you, which United States Government law are you even talking about? Because that’s what you mentioned, but honestly, I don't think a law like that actually exists. ☕

Matthew Grant9 said:Oh my goodness, are you actually being serious right now?😲 83 warnings or penalties? I mean, what on earth is this guy doing out there?😕

So, "receive" is the key word there? Does that mean the ones I send don't count toward that 75? Are you absolutely positive about that?
Well, whether you're sure or not, thanks so much for the effort and for getting back to me so quickly!🙏
:you'd make a great admin:

It wasn't actually that, it was just 75 regular messages and then that extra bit, those 8 cards or points.

I mean, maybe he just racked up a ton of warnings, you know, like picking up all those yellow and red cards?
What's the story behind the forum logo? in Forum Help! ·
I can't help but wonder why they settled on that specific logo, though. I mean, who actually made the call on that one? 😁
Quick question! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Sarah Morales90 said:I suppose users who go out of their way to post offensive images or comments already know what the penalties are, so they’re likely doing it with full awareness of the consequences. They’ve basically made a choice to take that path. There’s a specific place for expressing frustration—which is right here—and there’s a proper way to go about it.

Look, I get why offensive posts get flagged; that makes sense enough to me.
But if you just don't share the same sense of humor as someone else who might be "offending" you, well, that’s a different story entirely. 🤷
To us, those images are actually pretty funny, which is why we keep posting them. 🤷
