What should I do about these bruises? in Health ·
I think Carol Jackson45 checked out sometime during these last four years... seriously, Carol?
Found some mystery beads in a shoebox in Miscellaneous ·
I’m honestly just wondering what would happen if I ate about half a pound of them. I'm not actually going to do it, I'm just curious. 😁

Amanda Foster23 said:As for the humidity... honestly, there’s something weirdly satisfying about wetting my hand and just dumping those beads right into my palm, watching them soak up every bit of moisture. 😬

Argh!

I'm going to go look for them at my place tomorrow. 😁
How would you choose to go? in Health ·
Hit the big hundred, just from old age. And no, I’m not being dramatic. 😁

It honestly blows my mind that people actually look forward to kicking the bucket at seventy. Is that just some kid thing where everyone in their fifties looks like a fossil to you? 😁

Birth control and pregnancy risks in Women's Health ·
Vasectomy isn't even 100% foolproof.🙂

quietangler89 said:If you dig through any forum, there's always some lady bringing up her "friend" or talking about someone she knows who got pregnant while on birth control.

I know I did my part. I took every single pill right on time, didn't throw up, didn't have diarrhea, and wasn't taking anything else that would mess with the effectiveness. Everyone else's stories seem pretty much like lies to me.😬

Sure, it can happen, but I think it happens way less often than all these women make it sound.

Look, according to this, theoretically, one in a thousand women on the pill might get pregnant within a year, but in the real world, it's closer to one in a hundred.
fadedpilot2 said:Thanks, dear, for the heads-up on the Lactogyn (by the way, can you pick that up over the counter without a prescription?)...

As for everything else, I pretty much know all that... I was more curious about whether every single infection has to be linked to Chlamydia, Ureaplasma, and all those other things they check for in swabs, or if it can just be inflammation on its own and cause bleeding when taking the Pope?

Gardnerella.
fadedpilot2 said:I've heard about that, but I’ve never really dealt with those kinds of issues myself... I make sure to change them every few hours, and I don't even wear them when I'm just hanging out at home.
Is it even possible to get a fever from them?

Yeah, fungal.
fadedpilot2 said:So, I finally got my routine Pap smear done by my doctor 😢 , and then I found out from two other friends that they had the exact same experience with her
. I mean, it’s not like this is my first time, but I gotta admit she wasn't exactly gentle. I was basically squirming around on the table because, honestly, I can't just sit there totally still and take it. In my opinion, she really should be a bit more tender
.
Anyway, at the end she tells me I have some kind of grayish-white discharge (which I didn't even notice?!) .. and says it's probably some sort of infection. The fact that I was bleeding during the Pap smear just confirmed the inflammation for her
. Oh, and get this—she told me I shouldn't be using pantyliners?!
And she prescribed me Klimicin for the next five days
. To be honest, the idea of taking antibiotics stresses me out. I really don't want to end up with Candida or some other fungal infection, which happens all the time with these things
. So, I'm thinking about just tucking this box away in the cabinet for now
.
What has your experience been like with Klimicin?

I think I'd rather just wait for the actual Pap results before deciding what to do next..

Any advice? 🙂

Look, if you want to avoid Candida, just stay away from pantyliners. Fungi absolutely love a warm, damp environment.😁
Don't get vaccinated. It's no joke. in Women's Health ·
wanderingraven9 said:I’m lucky, thank God I had a great gynecologist who caught everything in time, but let's get one thing straight: Vitamin C isn't some magic shield against the high-risk CDC strains that actually cause cancer. Try to wrap your head around that. My mom keeps lecturing me about eating more fruit instead of asking about getting the vaccine...

A strong immune system and a sensible mindset definitely help when dealing with those high-risk CDC strains. 🙂

Almost every woman will run into HPV at some point. Plenty of them deal with the high-risk types, too. But only a tiny fraction of those women actually see the virus activate, and an even smaller percentage end up with cervical cancer. We owe a huge thanks to the pioneers of the Pap smear—that test has absolutely slashed death rates from this disease.

There’s probably a reason why some women develop severe cell abnormalities while others live their whole lives never even knowing they carried the virus, don't you think? And there's surely a reason why doctors tell women dealing with HPV issues to focus on boosting their immune systems.

Just go take a pregnancy test if that’s what's actually eating at you.
Female vs. male OB-GYNs: Any preferences? in Women's Health ·
Susan Diaz91 said:I went to see my regular OB-GYN (the one covered by Medicare who handles my medical leave) and she completely agreed with the hospital specialist, saying...

She's a gynecologist. I don't get why you're talking about her using "he." Why did he write the note and agree and say if it's a woman? 😕

Anyway, whatever.

The only time I've dealt with this is when I had to explain to a supposedly "reputable" doctor that when my cyst ruptures, I literally cannot get off the floor—and he actually tells me, "If it hurts, go for a run." 🤣 Honestly, I don't think it's because he's a man, just because he's an idiot.

Are you kidding me? How does a yeast infection turn into kidney inflammation? 😁

Fine, I'll go, but I just ordered enough caffeine on the 14th to make me lose my mind.

Just get down there right now—today, tomorrow, whatever. Tell them it burns and hurts and that you aren't leaving until a doctor actually looks at you. 🙂

Yeah, alright, maybe I am a little bit. :)))

I can't exactly tell her to go pee on a test right now—she just ovulated, so any test she takes today is going to be useless for detecting pregnancy.

goldeneagle5, fertile windows don't work the way your mom described them. I mean, I have no clue how she explained it to you 😁, but if you actually want to be sure about when you're ovulating, you'd be smarter to track your basal body temperature and monitor changes in cervical mucus. 🙂
goldeneagle5 said:@elonmusk I didn't even realize I could drop a question like this here... definitely coming back with more stuff like this from now on... thanks 😘

@het Look, I don't doubt you're trying to help, really, but my partner and I have talked about this endlessly and we've decided we want a baby—money isn't even an issue for us, honestly. We both want this kid so badly and we're just praying this time actually works... but I wanted to get some outside perspective here because what my mom told me is seriously eating at me, so yeah... 😘

@Lali Puna I was honestly just looking for some input from the ladies on this sub 😉

Look, you can't ask this question anywhere else 😁 😁
You can, sure, but how's anyone supposed to know if you actually ended up pregnant this time?
And that's assuming you even hit your ovulation day perfectly😕

Btw, what do you mean by "fertile days"? Are you just crunching numbers or actually tracking symptoms?

Maybe you won't get a baby until you finally grow up a bit😛
