I’ve honestly never heard of high sedimentation levels being linked to pregnancy—not even a quick Google search turns up anything about it.

you know, there are actually much easier ways to figure out if you're pregnant... usually involves a quick stroll over to CVS and peeing in a specific direction 😁
And we're live.

Alright, fine, have it your 🙄

on topic:

I pretty much read everything—almost religiously—online: The Evening News, the New York Post, the Chicago Tribune, maybe the occasional piece from Slate 😬, plus those big national outlets like CNN or Time... basically every single day.

As for the physical stuff, I actually subscribe to The Evening News since the newsstand is a bit of a trek, and honestly, there’s nothing quite like sitting down with a coffee on Saturday or Sunday and diving into the print edition. That’s why they show up at my door five days a week—on the weekends, I’ll go cover to cover, but during the week, I usually just flip through them—since I've already caught most of it online anyway.

zlipa, you know perfectly well there's an "Other Media" subforum where this topic actually belongs... so why post it here? 🤔
Elizabeth Phillips49 said:Basically, is there anyone online who’s dealt with pulmonology at Mayo Clinic? Has anyone heard anything about Dr. Miklić—he seems super sweet, but I don't know much else—or maybe someone's actually had a bronchoscopy there...
Please....

I’ve had all kinds of experiences with that department, and honestly, every single one of them—and I mean EVERY single one—has been positive. It’s just an incredible group of smart, capable people, and they've been led for years by Dr. Grbac, who is hands down the most wonderful doctor in history.

Dr. Miklić is also such a great guy—a total pro and just a genuinely kind soul who’s always ready to step up and help.

Don't let the anxiety get to you beforehand. They deal with patients coming in for their first bronchoscopy every single day, so they totally get the nerves and know exactly what you're going through leading up to the procedure. The nurses there (truth be told, I haven't been back in about three and a half years, but I doubt much has changed) are seriously empathetic, they really know their stuff, and they go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of.

Look, a bronchoscopy isn't exactly a walk in the park, but I can't imagine a better place to have it done than there 🙂

Fingers crossed for you... let us know how it goes

Okay, I’m totally risking a ban here—if not from the mods, then definitely from the admin who already makes it pretty clear she doesn't care about my need to point out how clueless people can be:

WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!?

Your very first post on this entire forum is right here in this thread, and you're choosing to ask Mia—who literally has six (!) posts to her name—a question that's directly tied to your actual health?!?!?

Like, seriously, what were you thinking?

What gives you the right to believe ANYTHING someone with a six-post history says? You don't know a single thing about the person behind that handle—their expertise, their intentions, NOTHING! Even if they had more posts, you (unless you're some kind of clone, which I doubt...) wouldn't have any way of forming an educated opinion on them since you just signed up today!!!

But no, you decide to drop a question like that on her... 🙄

My neighbor was telling me this story from about two years ago—she was totally stunned—about visiting her cousin. Apparently, when she went to jump in the shower, the cousin actually asked her why she even bothered washing down there if she hadn't been with a guy lately😲

Hang tight, Polly will be here soon to break down that whole thing about women and showering, then it’ll all make sense to you🤣 🤣 🤣

Look, I gotta apologize here, but did that world coach seriously just tell his players, "Don't rush the offense, but don't play passive either—just switch up the rhythm and change positions"? Is that actually advice we give to fourth graders in elementary school??????

It’s been common knowledge for ages that people’s blood pressure spikes the second they walk into a doctor's office—it actually has a specific name, white coat hypertension.

I honestly can't believe his doctor doesn't realize how frequently this happens 😕

casualowl1 said:But hey, she stood her ground. To me, that’s a choice. There could've been other ways it ended, but whatever.

As for that initial question, I'm not totally sure, but I feel like the answer might lie in the whole "martyrdom" aspect, especially since we're talking about a priest.

Honestly, nobody actually knows...

That priest might want to believe it—it’d definitely make things easier for the parents—but we just don't know. Don't tell me you're actually buying what the killer said during that first interrogation with the cops, claiming she just slipped and fell and accidentally killed 😕

casualowl1 said:Some people spend their entire lives trying and still fail. That’s on you.

If someone kidnapped you, forced you into sex work, and sold you as a slave—forcing you into drugs, abortions, or even those horrific hymen surgeries—would you really say you haven't lost your dignity and honor? Just because it was someone else pulling the strings?
Maybe you wouldn't "lose" it, but it would be violently stripped away from you. It's exactly what that guy was attempting to do to her.

His statement implies that you have to fight back.
Your take implies that it's better to just give in the moment someone looks at you wrong. At least you stay alive that way. That's a pathetic way to live.

Also, the statement strongly emphasizes that dignity and honor depend entirely on a person's own actions. And she chose to fight for herself. She fought for her dignity, her honor, her human rights, and ultimately, her life.

He's saying we should fight against assault.
You're implying we shouldn't resist because if we fail, we might lose our lives.

There is immense honor in dying while fighting for your ideals, for freedom, and for your basic human dignity. But what do you actually know about honor and respect? You seem to think they're just handed to you by God and don't need to be earned or fought for.

And the saddest part is that you're ignoring the fact that the man who said this knew her personally and understood her values, whereas you don't have a clue.

But honestly, we have zero clue what she actually chose, how she acted, what was going through her head, or what those last three minutes of her life were actually like.

For all we know, maybe she was terrified and begging for her life at the end... just wanting to be left alone. We don't know. Even a priest doesn't know. Her parents don't know either.

The only person who truly knows is the pathological killer, whom obviously none of us are ever going to believe anyway...

My initial question was really just... what exactly makes her one of the "great women" of our era? I still don't have an answer, even though this thread turned into such a solid debate...👍
Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to the mod for splitting this off and making it clear that I didn't actually come up with this thread title 😁
There’s something that’s been weighing on my mind for a couple of days now, and I honestly wasn't sure how to even start this thread 🙂

therefore, a local priest in a small town said this during the memorial service for Kristina Šušnjar:

"This young woman risked everything to fight for her own dignity and to defend her honor. She proved she would rather die than betray her youthful ideals—rather lose her physical life than trample over her human dignity and leave her dreams unfulfilled. By her martyr-like death, Kristina has been counted among the great women of our era," emphasized Ćubelić.

Okay, putting aside the absolute horror and tragedy of the whole situation—and don't get me wrong, the facts of this horrific murder are devastating—but is Kristina actually a hero? How did this poor girl (please don't take this as an attack on her, that's not what I'm doing at all, I just want to understand why the priest would say something so... questionable, IMHO) become a hero or a heroine? How exactly was she defending her "honor"?
Why, in the end, can we count her among the great women of our time?

Am I the only one seeing this clearly?

Betty Alvarez78 said:He said he wasn't sure what was going on... I honestly thought it was just some minor thing, like a cold or something—you know how women deal with those weird little issues, maybe just needing some herbal tea or whatever—but I didn't really get the male side of things until I spent hours reading up on it. Now I know that stinging sensation in guys can be caused by some kind of STI. He’s been totally faithful to me, and I trust him.We should have the results tomorrow, and I was just hoping to figure out what they actually look for in that swab test—like, which specific bacteria they check for, and if that stinging could be caused by anything other than an STI. Also, is it possible that it's something else entirely, or that one of us has had it for a long time and it just suddenly flared up in him if the test comes back positive for, say, chlamydia?
Sorry, I'm rambling and being super confusing...

So you're waiting for results tomorrow, but he already started antibiotics? 😕

oh man, please tell me more 🤷

Scott Allen10 said:I mean, obviously, that whole debate was just trolling... but honestly, in the real world, it’s always the same deal—whether you get a swab or not, they find something or they don't... look man, just take a dose of Zithromax, some Cipro, or whatever, and boom, you're done... now... hm... makes you wonder if there's even any point in poking around down there or jumping through all those hoops for some diagnostic test when the treatment is basically identical anyway...

over-diagnosing.

I mean, if you ask me, over-prescribing antibiotics 😁

we all love to act like Zithromax is some kind of magic cure-all, but doctors in the States definitely hand them out way too aggressively...

but seriously, lady, why won't the guy just give you a straight diagnosis? 🤷
