this is one of those threads where I’m mostly just lurking—I read everything you guys post, and sometimes, honestly... I find myself reliving things all over again that I'd much rather just leave in the past.
For most of us, 2007 was an absolute nightmare of a year. Some of you will carry those memories forever, and I know others just want to forget the whole thing in about four or five hours flat.
I really hope 2008 treats you better. I hope it doesn't throw as many hurdles in your way as this last one did—but even if it does, I truly hope you find a way to leap over every single one of them.
The entire lineup on RTL today is basically just this one theme:
1) Ghostbusters at 9 AM—honestly, if I haven't seen this movie fifty times already, then I've never seen it... 🙄 2) Multiplicity—for goodness sake, 🙄 🙄 3) Spies Like Us—like, the millionth time... seriously, it’s just not hitting the mark at all 👎 4) Return to the Blue Lagoon—I’d say this is just a rerun of a rerun of a rerun from yesterday or the day before 😢
On the new channel: total cliffhanger 👎
And the local networks are still messing around with Police Academy, even though they were running that same depressing marathon around this time last year 😢
Alright, my fellow cinephiles, movie buffs, mods, and everyone else 😁
It happens to me all the time—I'll be scrolling through the schedule on our big networks and I'll spot a certain movie, and I just can't help but think to myself, "Are you kidding me?!?!? 😕".
So, I figured I'd start this thread as a little place where we could—if people are actually down for it—keep a running tally of those movies that seem to air on TV for the five-hundredth time. 😁 It won't be the easiest thing to manage, especially if this really takes off, but I was thinking we could list a movie that's constantly playing (I'm kicking things off with US Marshals airing tonight), note when it aired, where it was on, and then once it starts repeating (which, let's face it, 😉 ), we just quote the previous post and bump the count.
Also, we could—just for fun, honestly, I'll probably do it just to mess around—use Warning! OK Movies on TV as a sort of guide to look back at 😉
And, yeah, the usual plea: please, please don't turn this into a massive debate or anything. Let's try to keep this as a mostly useless reminder of how many times our three major networks show us bad movies (way too often) and good ones (rarely) 🙂
Megan White4 said:What household? It’s just been the two of us since my father passed away. She works, and I’m busy trying to finish my degree... 🙄
Or perhaps she's dealing with OCD...
Megan, look, I really don't want to start something here, but—forgive me if I push back just a little on this whole list of grievances you have against maybe your mom...
You're 27, right? And you're still wrapping up college? While she's pulling all the shifts? Are you working at all? Have you ever worked? Is this even your second time being in school?
If I were feeling particularly mean about it, I’d read your situation like this: "I lost my husband, and now I've got this 27-year-old slacker finishing up his degree 🙄, constantly dipping into my pocket while lecturing me every time I spend money on myself. Of course I'm pissed off—I should be at a stage in life where things are finally getting easier, but instead of enjoying myself, I buried my husband and now I'm stuck with a kid who won't stop whining, won't stop getting his way, and keeps telling me how to live my life instead of just growing up and finding a job!"
You’ve got 17 posts in the subforums that actually count towards your stats, plus another 30 over on Reddit—where nobody even tracks the post count anyway...
Angela Wright said:Your triglycerides are spiking because you're overloading on carbs—think white bread or pasta. Try not to mix everything together on one plate. You should probably look into restructuring your meals based on some of those UN diet principles. Cut out the sugar and soda entirely, and don't even think about touching alcohol. Give your liver some breathing room to actually recover.
But wait, isn't it actually from eating too much fat instead????
So, like, which doctor are we talking about here? What kind of specialist? And why are they only seeing patients on Mondays and Wednesdays instead of being in the office every day... also, what kind of diagnostic tests take only ten minutes 😉
Man, I swear it feels like just yesterday when he first joined Manchester United. I remember Blažičko claiming—and knowing him, he probably repeated it 🙄 about a million times—that Jaap Stam was the most expensive cornerstone in football history 😁 😁 😁
I used to feel pretty much the same way about him, too. Well, I hope retirement treats him well 🙂
