I sometimes wonder about that too. It’s interesting how you can still pick up older American classics on DVD—stuff like *The Grapes of Wrath* or *Beggars and Sons*—over in parts of Europe, even if the disc quality is pretty subpar. You just don't see those kinds of titles available locally here anymore. I’d actually love to add a few of them to my collection. 🤷

I don't know, if you're looking for pure brutality, you might as well check out Elfen Lied, Berserk, Baki, or Gantz...
In my opinion, though, that isn't really a valid metric for quality.
And I guess Ghost in the Shell is only brutal because of how boring it is.🙂

Anyway, what was my point? I wanted to ask if anything decent has come out lately—specifically feature films that actually feel like a spectacle.
The last thing I watched was Final Fantasy: Advent Children, and before that, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence... also the Trinity Blood series, which I thought was great. So now, I'm looking for recommendations that I can grab off torrents.
Just please, nothing low-quality. I've already seen most of the older titles, so I'm asking if there's anything truly recent, or at least relatively fresh.
I recently started watching a series called Texhnolyze and I find it quite interesting. It doesn't rely on typical anime aesthetics, which I think is a major plus. There are other good series like Gungrave, Ergo Proxy, Gantz, and Elfen Lied, all of which feel slightly more grounded in their plots, assuming the format allows for it. Personally, I'm not a fan of fantasy stories involving elves, so this has been a nice change of pace.

No, and I don't think of the accordion as some "Eastern" style of music; it's global. It comes from a region that some people are desperately trying to claim as their own, specifically Central Europe. In reality, it's always been present in our culture too; it just wasn't given much airtime in the media because of those specific prejudices.

FDR was the best possible solution at the time. What happened after he died is a whole different story...

I'm basically just overcompensating for my own inferiority complex here, mostly because I know the folks in Europe—the Germans, the French, you name it—are never actually going to accept me as a true peer within that high-society cultural circle. Long live the icons of the liberal movement! 😳
