Metallica & Lenny Kravitz in Music ·
The reason I say Lenny is three levels above Metallica. I’m sitting here listening to his Best of right now—15 massive hits in a row—and you can't honestly argue that any single one of them sacrifices quality just to chase a radio hit.

By the way, if I had to choose between buying tickets and didn't have enough cash for both, I'd pick Lenny Kravitz over Metallica any day of the week.

They were actually a solid, promising band a few years back, but I haven't heard a peep from them in ages. They played a handful of gigs at the local dive bar downtown, but their last show was a long time ago.
As far as the original lineup goes, Daniel Biffle is the only one left standing.

Kid, go moderate your own groupies😬

A few technical specs from music.com

The fact that Lollapalooza—running from June 23rd to 27th, 2004, at MetLife Stadium—is going to be a spectacle rarely seen in this country is already evident from the sheer scale of the production logistics.
To give you an idea, the stage alone is 70 meters wide by 30 meters deep. We're talking 18 semi-trucks just to get the basic setup there, and it'll take a crew four full days to prep the stage for Lenny Kravitz and Metallica. Before Lenny Kravitz even hits the stage, they’re dropping off another 15 trucks of gear, which 80 technicians from Lenny's crew will spend hours assembling. Then there's Metallica. Their production is moving in with 15 tour buses, 22 trucks packed with sound and lighting equipment, and a massive army of 120 technicians who'll be grinding for two days straight, supported by 20 riggers and 250 workers.

It looks like we're in for a serious pyrotechnic display too; local pyro companies have been brought in, and they're even setting up a dedicated storage container for the explosives. Since the members of Metallica don't leave a single thing to chance, they’re bringing their own private chef and a full catering company to San Jose. They'll have a massive 40m x 10m tent and a specialized refrigerated truck just for their food. To keep everyone at Lollapalooza safe, there will be over 250 security personnel on duty.

For those traveling from out of state or anyone who just doesn't want to leave San Jose during the five-day stretch, camping will be available right next to the stadium. There's plenty of reason to stick around for the whole run, especially with a massive Lollapalooza tent being set up to provide food and entertainment. The organizers are even planning some musical surprises inside for the fans.

Anyone else hear anything about this?

That’s ridiculous.
I'm curious, though—who exactly told you that? 😁
Last night at Routeu66, we had the blues Machin playing.
Solid stuff. 🙏

ZZ Top used to be $67, so if someone actually managed to flip them to you for 400, they’re a total 😬

Exactly. I mean, a concert in June at Madison Square Garden? That's just asking for trouble. 🙂

Any idea when Metallica is hitting Washington, D.C.? 😲 😕

Nothing to say?
James King40 said:Look, if we're being honest, the only group in America you could actually call a real blues band is the mungos Brothers blues band. It feels a bit pointless for me to sit here and critique how limited or superficial these other bands are, but let's get one thing straight: if your idea of "blues" is just whatever setlist they happen to play, then fine, enjoy their music. They can hold their own technically. But if you mean actual, authentic blues? Then I'm sorry, but the only true blues players in those lineups are the drummers, and even they’ve drifted toward the mainstream. Blues is too heavy, too serious a thing to be treated like some casual playground game.
Best,

@Jonathan Palmer, looks like even the locals have high-speed access these days 😲 😲 😲
Swing by Route 66 this Sunday. Robert Vnuk is hosting a "Dinner Blues Session"—the music is killer and the food is on the house. 😁

The best music magazine from the former region has finally hit the web. It’s still in its early stages, but there’s some really compelling reading here 🙂

It's hosted on the site of the late editor-in-chief

Keep an eye out for the article "A mile in his shoes," which dives into that trio from the Package Deal

The discussion feels a bit pointless to me. It’s pretty obvious that in most cases, people just lump Country music in with that trashy pop-folk stuff instead of recognizing it as actual, traditional roots music.

Nicole Ramos2 said:Yeah... he's good, but you really can't lump him in with someone like Stefanovski.😕

Look, Božić is an awesome guy and incredibly easy to talk to. I remember teasing him after a show once, asking if he had a soccer player girlfriend back in his younger days, like Satriani did.
He gave me the whole rundown on playing with Jimi Hendrix. Truly cool stuff.👍

If anything, he’d probably be the one trying to shove himself into the same category as Stefanovski.😬

Who is that?
The name sounds vaguely familiar, but I need more details...

He was the guitarist for Timeo and a bunch of other bands, but in Timeo, he actually handled the songwriting too. Check out "North Mexico" and "What Life Should I Be Born For"—those tracks are better than stuff most major global bands put out.
One wild fact about him: he’s the only guy from this part of the country who ever jammed with Jimi Hendrix. You can actually find a photo of them together at the OTV community center. If you want to hear his work, tune into the Deep Purple (rock masters) program over at KSET this Tuesday.

With Vlatko & R. M. Točak already in the mix, I’m wondering who else could take that third spot. If anyone knows, let me know—do we actually have any other legends left in our neck of the woods?

Vedran Božić 👍
Probably the best out of that trio.

Henry Anderson47 said:I still don't quite grasp why they even call this whole thing G3.

Did I miss something major in the last year or two that caused them to suddenly form this G3 group?

I know Vai told Bakić a few years back that he wanted to make it to Chicago. Is there any actual confirmation that he’s still skipping us, or is that just talk?

It’s a no-go. That July 20th slot for Chicago is an absolute disaster. Even if we could swing it, Santana is already booked for that window, leaving zero breathing room for the G3 guys. As far as the Chicago shows go, I honestly don't think anyone should be celebrating too hard this year. 😁
