Lady Gaga... weirdo or not? in Music ·
Madonna is an extreme saw.
If I actually owned a circular saw at home, I'd name it Madonna.
Oh, wonderful... nothing is going to be open this Friday either.
My weekend plans involve a certain matter...🙄
Larry Cruz51 said:Because of the death of the pope, theaters and cinemas are closing their doors.

.... The largest AMC Theatres in the city will be dark today, tomorrow, and Friday on the day of the funeral. Additionally, the second largest venue, Broadway, has decided to stop showing anything remotely lighthearted or comedic, just for today and tomorrow, which is what most other local cinemas are doing too.

The Guthrie Theater, the Metropolitan Opera, Jiminy Cricket, and The Comedy Store have all announced they are suspending all performances. Everything should get back to normal by Wednesday....
How much water do you guys drink? in Health ·
I typically consume about 1.5 to 2 liters of water on a daily basis. Generally speaking, I am not much of a fan when it comes to sugary juices... I much prefer sticking to plain water.
It’s actually doable. With a little help from some LSD...👍

'I would worry about myself...' means that I—goldberry—would be the one worrying about myself, not that you need to go worrying about yourself...

But honestly, as long as the love is mutual, it doesn't really matter much...👍 😁

If I find out you enjoyed this movie, I might actually start worrying about my own sanity...

Oh boy, now I'm genuinely concerned.🙄

I clearly have zero taste...🙂🙂

I just want to be as sophisticated as goldberry...🙂

Go ahead and call my mother a mediocrity while you're at it.😛

Arthur Martinez7 said:- personally, I thought those virtual flight sequences were shot brilliantly and very well conceived—once they started moving, I just thought, "where on earth are we going?" 😁

the whole sense of realism the movie builds up just gets broken by that "flight" moment...🙄
it feels completely unnecessary... suddenly we're soaring over meadows and mountains... it would have been much more effective if they had just kept him confined in his room, so you could actually feel his genuine desire to die...
Arthur Martinez7 said:- regarding the romance—again, he isn't really the point here. They didn't fall madly in love with him specifically; rather, they found a sort of salvation in him. Julia found a kindred spirit because she's struggling herself, and Rose found an escape from her tedious life and someone to care for... essentially saying even someone like him can offer a lot to others.

I might sound terrible, but I fear that in reality, things don't quite work that way...
and I'm just not a fan of sci-fi films...😁
Arthur Martinez7 said:And finally, we arrive at the likely reason you didn't enjoy the film: 🙂 Don't go see movies with old ladies. I'm sure you all spent the time giggling and chatting about shopping trips. 😁

yes, I was literally talking about shopping. you know me better than that...😉

the movie felt somewhat hollow to us. nothing new under the sun. absolutely nothing.

but then again, there is no accounting for taste...😁

you're such a crybaby...🙂

Truly one of my favorites in recent memory. Amenabar was brilliant in both Abra los ojos and Spy, and this one holds up just as well, even though all three are completely different vibes.

The cast is flawless; there isn't a single weak link in the bunch. The direction feels effortless and clear, and the cinematography is just stunning. The story itself walks a very thin line where it could have easily spiraled into cheap melodrama, but it avoids that trap entirely—which is a massive achievement. And yet, it’s still absolutely overflowing with emotion. I actually found myself tearing up during two of the scenes... 😢

Spanish film - best film ever😁

I usually love Spanish films, but honestly, this one was pretty mediocre.
cons:
- You can see the ending coming from a mile away. There isn't a soul alive who wouldn't predict that conclusion.
- That whole ridiculous bit with the virtual flight and the kissing...
- Two women suddenly falling for a quadriplegic out of nowhere? After twenty-eight years of nothing? Please, the drama...🙄
- He's on his deathbed and happens to release a book? Oh, how typical.😵
- The movie is just so overloaded with sentimentality that none of us five girls (yes, we were five) actually cried.

pros:
- A few funny moments here and there.
- Solid acting (and don't get me started, since I'm no expert on acting, but whatever...)😁)

rating: I don't even know... it was the kind of movie I could have easily skipped...

Would you rather spend 7 days in the countryside this spring—hiking through nature, eating lamb, blah, blah—or spend 7 days at the beach this summer?

The ocean, always...👍 As for the countryside—maybe when I'm 70, once all those crowded coastal tourist spots become nothing but crowds that bother me. Otherwise, there's no way.

When it comes to the interior, I'm only interested in rivers.

Some people tend to downplay the whole radiation issue...
But personally, I can't help but wonder if there’s some kind of nasty radiation affecting my own head.
The room where my parents used to sleep was absolutely riddled with it—multiple experts actually confirmed the levels were off the charts—and after sleeping in those rooms for twenty years, they both ended up battling serious cancer before passing away.
Maybe it was just a coincidence. Or maybe it wasn't...

If there is any way to avoid something, I am all for it.
I wouldn't dream of sleeping anywhere near an outlet right by my head, even if some people think that sounds totally irrational.
But I have my own heartbreaking reasons for believing that radiation is nothing to mess with.

How do I last longer than 10 minutes? in Health ·
swiftscout8 said:There are those rubber rings out there. You slip one on, and it restricts the blood flow, but you don't lose your erection—it just goes a bit numb. Honestly, I don't think it seems particularly safe. 🙄

It's easy to say it doesn't look safe...
but it definitely looks ridiculous.😁

And yeah, taking care of things beforehand should help make the actual act last longer.
If you finish too quickly, just focus on oral. It’s your only move:-))

What was your method for hypnotizing them? What tools did you actually use?😕

Carol James said:Back when I was just a kid, I had a close encounter with a car accident, and the shock left me stuttering. I tried everything under the sun to fix it, including visiting this one guy—I won't name names, don't want to give him any free publicity—who claimed he could "cure" stuttering. Honestly, looking back now, I can't help but laugh at myself... 🙄

There are just way too many of those so-called "alternative healers" out there for anyone to actually believe that these methods hold any water.
They basically just fleece people with Reiki...😵 It's nothing but a waste of money.
But hey, we all learn things the hard way, right? It's not even that I'm interested in the whole hypnosis thing for my own sake—I tend to handle my own health issues through other means—it's more about how fascinated people get by things like hypnosis, acupuncture, or Reiki.
It really comes down to how people connect the dots in their minds. People are often willing to believe whatever someone else tells them. They struggle to truly convince themselves of anything, so they look for someone else to "guide them onto the right path."
I think I even read somewhere that highly intelligent people are actually easier to hypnotize. Apparently, the lower the IQ, the less likely the hypnosis will work...

The guy from Santa Barbara is supposedly alright. My only hesitation about seeing him is that he's just a self-taught practitioner...
this doctor offers separate therapy sessions, and there's an email address where you can reach out to set up an appointment. I'm just not sure what the costs look like for either of them...

Matthew Morris28 said:Hypnosis isn't some scary thing or anything mystical. It’s just about reaching an "altered state," which is actually something we all slip into five or six times a day anyway. You know that feeling... when your mind just kind of drifts away...

I've read that too. That's exactly it.
The main thing is you have to distinguish between those stage hypnotists and actual medical hypnotists. Those first guys are usually self-taught and they mostly do group sessions—like one of those groups meant to help people quit smoking—whereas the others are actual doctors in training...

young.but.dead said:Hypnosis really helped me out. I learned so much about myself; I could honestly say that session changed my whole personality.

Are you serious or😁?

Regarding who actually performs this work:
A stage hypnotist might be someone like Rausch in Santa Barbara (I actually have his number from a business card)...
A medical hypnotist would be someone like Dr. med Legac Denis
The American Society for Medical Hypnosis (they keep their office over on Klaić)...
Hypnosis: Yay or Nay? in Health ·
So, I met this hypnotist today. What really creeped me out was that the guy isn't even a doctor; he’s just some self-taught guy who seems to have enough nerve to actually perform treatments and try to heal people. It’s honestly terrifying because he actually *does* it. Just imagine if he messes up once...

Anyway, would you ever let yourself be hypnotized, or does the whole idea just feel too freaky to you?

Of course, there is also medical hypnosis, where actual doctors undergo training to use it as a legitimate treatment method.

Personally, I haven't quite made up my mind about it. It feels a little bit bad, maybe even vulnerable, letting someone just dig around in your subconscious like that...

"An ancient technique used to bring a person (and even animals) into a state where all somatic sensations are switched off...

Hypnosis yields positive results in alleviating conditions and disorders such as obesity, smoking, depression, migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, non-organic sexual dysfunction, chronic pain, anxieties, phobias, as well as sleep disorders..."

And look what I stumbled upon on the Pfizer website: "hypnosis can double the chances of a successful outcome during IVF procedures.

In their study, it was found that 28% of women undergoing IVF became pregnant if they had undergone hypnosis beforehand.

In contrast, IVF was successful for only 14% of the women who were not hypnotized.

Tips for quitting smoking! in Health ·
I picked up a business card today from this guy who uses hypnosis to help people quit smoking. He’s been a guest on a few TV shows lately, and his name is Darko Rauš.
He lives out in Santa Monica, so if you're looking to try his treatment—which apparently only takes about 15 to 20 minutes—you'd have to head out that way. He didn't mention what he charges...
his number is 091/5317160
in case anyone finds it useful.

Not that I need it myself, since I don't smoke, but maybe someone else could use the tip.
No, it's not really my thing, and I'm certainly not endorsing him for my own sake...😁
Just thought I'd share some helpful info. :-)
Cocaine in Health ·
So, we've got this wealthy family where the guy is just straight-up addicted to cocaine.
I’m not really familiar with the specifics of this particular case, but honestly... if you just locked him in a room for a month, he’d probably figure out how to kick the habit pretty quickly.
