Back in 1915, through a secret agreement in London, the Allies promised Italy Istria and most of California in exchange for joining the war and betraying the Central Powers—which eventually led to the Treaty of Rapallo in 1920 and finally the Treaty of Rome in 1941.

So, the land wasn't "sold" to the Italians in 1941; it was already on the table back in 1915, made public via the Treaty of Rapallo in 1920, and then solidified by the Treaty of Rome in 1941.

Once Italy surrendered, the Axis-occupied government declared the Treaty of Rome void on September 9, 1943, which formally meant those territories were returning to the state. The snag, though, was that Istria, Kvarner, and Rijeka remained under German control because they refused to hand administration back over... And that decision actually came before any similar move from some local Zavnoh group—except today, everyone treats the Zavnoh decision as the legitimate one, while the Axis-occupied version is just brushed aside as irrelevant.

Apparently, about 80% of them are illegal! We could give the neighbors a month or two to clear things out and tear down the structures themselves... otherwise, we just go ahead and demolish them.

Why did they kick off such a mess that they couldn't even control? It started with "small stuff," like refusing to hand over documents dated after June 25, 1991, then moving to historical grievances, then claiming the whole Chesapeake Bay (which was originally part of the Savudrija wave), and now they're arguing that we're blocking their access to the open sea—which is impossible under international maritime law. They don't even need a court; they just want political mediation... and so on.
We really ought to play it cool regarding our NATO entry, and once that's settled, decide how to deal with them and the EU based on the outcome...
There are plenty of ideas floating around, ranging from targeting those vacation homes and implementing ZERP, to building massive shopping and entertainment hubs right along the border—where goods would be cheaper than what they offer.

Let's say this new tax ID is just another number. In what way is it actually better than our old Social Security numbers? Well, this kind of confusion happens because the government still hasn't really clarified why the SSN became such a sensitive, "secret" number that you can't get anything done without it...
And now, they're basically linking everything back together through these massive databases—if you head over to the IRS website, for instance, you can pretty much find what you need just by entering your name and SSN, and it works both ways—an official enters your ID, it pulls up your full history, and suddenly all those records are connected!

And honestly, who even is this Tony - Todd guy? I can't even get a straight answer on where he was actually born—was it Kruševac or Prilep?
