Seriously. Try to track down someone else tomorrow.

I currently live with my parents, so I help out with things like bills and grocery shopping for the house.
Please don't take this the wrong way—I love them and really don't want any tension or arguments over stuff like this. I'm just trying to figure out a way to handle it so everyone stays happy.🍿

I’ve titled this thread "scent of leather" because I suspect there is a biological component at play; darker skin carries a distinct scent, and perhaps that serves as an unconscious trigger for the hostility my family faces. It seems to be a common denominator behind the unprovoked aggression toward those with darker complexions. My lighter-skinned relatives don't seem to face the same issues, yet my brother's daughter—who has very dark skin—was actually forced to switch classes because the bullying became so relentless.
How does one navigate this reality while maintaining their dignity and civility?
I would appreciate any advice you might have, and thank you in advance for listening. 🙂
Carl Rivera43 said:I do. She hasn't messaged me in over thirteen hours, which honestly isn't even a big deal. I’m not going to chase her down either. I just don't want to deal with someone who's that clingy.
Carl Rivera43 said:I honestly don't even bother with her... she doesn't even make an effort to be logical, does she?

Words like these are truly medicine for the soul, the Heart, and even the prison cell.
neonsailor26 said:Actually, in this specific scenario, she might have to be a bit of a masochist!
See, The Mayor hasn't even decided if he's into her yet...
And once he finally makes up his mind, he'll have to figure out if he can actually handle her style—or if it's too much for him.
If everything checks out there, then we move on to the real test: the ego factor.
If they can get past that 🙏 it’s all smooth sailing from there ☕ .
But I have a feeling that this whole thing (assuming it’s even real!) will fizzle out before it starts—because by the time one of them actually gathers the courage to make a move,
we'll already be halfway to Mars ☕ . And frankly, I don't know a single woman—aside from someone who is a pure masochist at heart—who would wait around for them that long.

Her ego is way too big for that to ever happen.

Carl Rivera43 said:To be honest, I'm not even that into her. What's the point of hanging out constantly when she just talks about herself, then him, then her daughter? She wants to be with him, but apparently, he won't give her what she's looking for.
She's basically hunting for a third, fourth, or fifth option, but it doesn't look like she's actually ready for anything serious.

Carl Rivera43 said:What do I want? Honestly, I just want to find a way to communicate better with her. I get the feeling she isn't nearly as clumsy as she seems over text.
She might be one of those rare women where there is a massive gap between how she texts and how she actually acts in person.
One thing I've noticed is how scattered she can be. Sometimes, it almost feels like I'm talking to three different people at once.
When we're face-to-face, even when she's trying to be serious, she comes off as somewhat funny just because of her rhythm—her voice, her gestures, everything. That same quirky energy carries over to her texting, though it's harder to pin down there. And trust me, I've texted much more awkward girls than her before.
| She seems to be head over heels, but honestly? It’s kind of ridiculous. Her messages are full of these childish habits that just stand out, even though she acts way more reserved in person. Her friend keeps hot-and-colding her—blocking her one minute and letting her back in the next. And get this: just a few weeks ago, she was bragging about how every guy in town was chasing her. Now, suddenly, she says that's all changed. What happened to all that attention? |
Carl Rivera43 said:The real problem is I have no clue how to tell her she's totally wrong.
Carl Rivera43 said:A buddy of hers told her she’s a bit clumsy, though he didn't mean any harm by it... whenever the three of us run into each other, she’s all smiles and high energy, you know? But then when we're just texting back and forth, she can sound kind of down in the dumps sometimes.
