Kyle Nelson2 said:Look, from what I remember reading somewhere, intelligent people are roughly 30% smarter than the average Joe (there’s usually some kind of bell curve involved, including the outliers)....
It’s this old theory that being smarter actually makes you more miserable because you’re constantly surrounded by people who just don't get it. You struggle to find someone worth talking to, you pick up on subtle character flaws that everyone else misses, and so on.

So, maybe the real question is whether high intelligence leads to higher rates of depression....

Then again, there's a whole category of psychological issues that I’d personally just call "immaturity"... things like kleptomania, certain sexual dysfunctions, stuff like that...
In my amateur opinion, smarter people probably wouldn't deal with those kinds of issues more often—if anything, they'd have fewer of them...

So, what kind of illnesses are we even looking for in highly intelligent people?

Are you trying to say that smart people are all psychopaths?
Jerry Moore2 said:I have someone in my family who is incredibly brilliant...
Back when they were just a kid, a psychologist told my mom she had to be extremely careful how she raised them because kids with that kind of intellect are prone to mental health issues. Basically, from what I gather, there's this link between being a genius as a child and developing psychological problems later on.

Oh, you're such a genius, aren't you? 🙏 🙏
Daniel Wilson5 said:What’s everyone’s take on this??????

Look, personally? I’d argue that schizophrenia has way more to do with being abused or neglected as a kid than it does with how smart someone is.🙄>
Of course. If someone’s brain is firing at lightning speed, you've gotta assume there's a massive surge of information moving between neurons. It means a higher energy potential, which honestly just increases the chances of a total short circuit because the whole system is working overtime.
You probably just caught a stomach bug or some kind of gut chill.
Anyway, can someone please explain to me why people actually recommend drinking Coca-Cola when you're having digestive issues?

Kyle Nelson2 said:why should we categorize violence by gender?

Nobody is categorizing it that way. And for the record, people talk about sex versus gender, not "sexuality."
It’s two completely different things.

rustymaker5 said:Is it just me, or is everyone acting like this isn't a thing? Seriously, globally speaking, more women die in plane crashes, right? I mean, look at the stats—it’s a fact. Why does nobody seem to want to talk about this? It feels like we just ignore the data whenever it gets uncomfortable.

Not really. 😉

Here’s that text I was talking about:

I just read this piece in USA Today about how much everyone is obsessing over those damn "wellness" trends lately, and honestly? It’s driving me absolutely insane. It feels like you can’t even drink a cup of coffee without some self-proclaimed guru telling you that you’re doing life wrong. The article talks about how people are spending fortunes on these ridiculous dietary fads and "mindfulness" retreats that cost more than my first car. It's all just a giant money grab. I remember back in college, I tried one of those juice cleanses because some influencer told me it would "reset my system." Big mistake. Huge. I spent three days staring at the ceiling feeling like I was dying while my roommates ate pizza right in front of me. Total waste of cash. And don't even get me started on the social media aspect of it. Everyone is out there posing with their green smoothies like they actually enjoy the taste. They don't! They’re just performing for likes. It’s performative nonsense. We used to just live our lives, and now we have to curate a "lifestyle" just to feel validated by strangers online. It’s exhausting, it's fake, and frankly, it's a scam designed to make us feel inadequate so we keep buying more junk. Get a grip, people.
Just go see a urologist.
Or maybe a dermatologist.

Honestly, that last one hit me almost without any pain at all, kind of like a breezy summer wind blowing through the Midwest...
Justin Fox said:How wide or long are your laparoscopic scars?

Tiny little nicks, honestly. Not even a centimeter wide.
brisknomad6 said:Hey...

It’s been over two months since my laparoscopic surgery... the incisions are still all raised up and this dark purple color. The scabs have already fallen off...

I’m using Dermatix...

Is this even normal? My husband keeps telling me they look way worse now than they did right after the operation.😕

If this is normal, what am I actually supposed to expect during the healing process?

thx 🙂

For scars, a solid combo is rosehip oil and calendula ointment.
Personally, I just have that tiny little mark on my belly button, looks just like an old piercing.

Voltaren patches don't just kill the pain, either—they actually fight inflammation and help cut down on bleeding.

I’ve still got this nasty scar from a jellyfish sting I picked up years ago. Let's see if we can find anyone else out there... :number one: 25 years later 😁

brundo said:Look, this isn't some joke. This is just old-school, traditional first aid for when you get stung by a jellyfish or hit by sea nettles out on the coast... I've personally tried it more times than I can count. If you had just done it right away, that scar would be way smaller and probably gone by now. Since you waited, there's a real chance those sting marks will still be hanging around next year, depending on which jellyfish decided to kiss you in the first place.

Thank God, finally someone with a brain. 🙏 🙏

Trust me, we're talking about life here. If you actually gave a damn, you'd look in the mirror and realize how much you've messed up your own face...😉

Check out the left column—it breaks down exactly what you're supposed to do if one of those venomous fish stings you.

Whenever I get stung by a jellyfish or something out in the Atlantic, I just slap some alcohol on it and leave it alone. Honestly, I think you just need to get those stingers out of your skin as fast as possible.

No, I'm right. Just ask anyone who lives on the coast. Urine is alkaline, if I remember correctly, which neutralizes the acidic toxins.
