I went to see a male OB-GYN for the first time, and honestly, it wasn't even the gender that threw me—it was just how tall and attractive he was.
I don't know... I think I’d actually feel more at ease seeing someone who was just plain unattractive. 🤷 If you catch my drift! 😁

I was in there getting an ultrasound, and he had such a gentle touch. I've heard from plenty of other women that male doctors tend to have a lighter hand, whereas female doctors can be a bit rough when they're using
that speculum. It can be so painful.

It’s easier to go to a woman, sure—but then I start thinking about the personalities some of them have. At least most of them are manageable.
How does a man decide to become an OB-GYN? in Women's Health ·
Maria Sanchez59 said:I honestly find it impossible to believe that anyone would actually choose OB-GYN as a specialty just because they want an excuse to stare at young, well-groomed women.
For crying out loud—honestly, who on earth would actually find it thrilling to sit around staring at mushrooms and some random discharge? Who is the target audience for that? It’s just absurd. 🤷🤷

Sure, you can take a look—if she’s actually hot, that is. 🙂 That’s basically the same logic you'd use to ask why men watch porn featuring naked women spreading their legs. In my view, it’s just fundamentally easier for a man to look at a naked woman than it is for a woman to look at a naked man—that's why men have better hands, I suppose—and they tend to be a bit more delicate with them too. But if some... well, let's say an older lady comes along... 😲I mean, look—I get it, they’re women too, obviously—but still... honestly. 😕

So, I was thinking about this joke the other day—it’s one of those old-school, cynical little nuggets that actually hits a bit too close to home if you think about it for more than two seconds. It goes like this: A guy is chatting up an acquaintance, just making small talk, when he asks, "So, what do you do for a living?" The man answers, "I'm an OB-GYN." The first guy beams at him and says, "Man, you lucky bastard!" And the doctor just looks at him, deadpan, and replies, "Yeah, well, it would be if they were all twenty and actually attractive." It’s blunt—maybe a little too blunt—but there's a certain honesty to that kind of weary, professional cynicism, isn't there? It’s that classic "expectation vs. reality" trope that keeps most people from staying in their careers for too long. Just a bit of dark humor to chew on. 🤣

Angela Wright said:I’ve been wondering about the path to becoming a veterinarian myself—honestly, how does one even get through that schooling? I mean, you spend years hitting the books just to end up spending your entire career elbow-deep in a cow's backside. It sounds absolutely brutal.🤷 I mean, honestly—it’s pure depravity.☕

Some people on this forum truly shock me with how incredibly superficial they are.😳

Every medical profession has its share of the downright revolting—there’s no escaping that—but if you ask me, I’d much rather be a veterinarian than a physician. At least with animals, there's a certain... honesty to the grit. It's just my take, anyway.

And honestly, that’s just the reality of it—when a woman goes through childbirth, it isn't exactly some pleasant, breezy experience either.
My father committed suicide. How do I cope? in Psychology ·
No one can be held responsible if someone spirals into a deep depression and feels like there’s absolutely no way out.
What I find most infuriating are the people who sit in judgment over suicide. If someone reaches that point, it's a clear sign they are desperate for actual help
and genuine support from their family and loved ones. By judging them, you aren't helping—you're just pushing them further into the abyss.

But when it comes to dentists or general practitioners? I haven't even glanced in that direction. Maybe we should be asking, "Why on earth are we women so obsessed with gynecologists?" 🤣.

Exactly! 😂

jadesailor14 said:Look, I have absolutely zero connection to the medical field—and honestly, I wouldn't want one if it were offered to me on a silver platter—but if I were forced to choose between two evils? I’d much rather be an OB-GYN than a dentist. Any day.
Honestly, I find myself wondering—what actually drives someone to choose dentistry? It’s one of those professions that seems to sit at this strange crossroads of high-level science and manual dexterity, yet people gravitate toward it for all sorts of reasons. Is it the stability? The prestige? Or maybe just the promise of a decent paycheck without having to spend eighty hours a week in a windowless lab? I see people talking about the "artistry" of it—which, sure, there is some skill involved in sculpting a crown—but let’s be real, most people aren't signing up for years of grueling dental school because they have a passion for filling cavities. There’s a certain level of grit required that isn't talked about enough. It’s tedious, highly repetitive, and you’re essentially working in someone else's mouth all day long—not exactly the most glamorous way to spend a Tuesday. Still, I suppose there is a logic to it. You get to be your own boss, you can build a practice in a nice suburb, and you’re providing a service that everyone, regardless of how much they enjoy visiting the dentist, absolutely needs. But I’m curious—is it truly a calling for some, or is it just a very calculated, pragmatic career move? 😬

Honestly, I’ll take a trip to the dentist any day. My dentist is actually decent—and, if I'm being completely blunt, he's pretty easy on the eyes, too. 😁

I don't know... people always say you need a gynecologist—and they say the exact same thing about pathologists—just to have someone who’s a little bit unhinged.
Why? Well, because someone has to examine the dead, doesn't they? 🤷

I honestly don't see what prompted you to even bring this up.😕 As far as I can tell, there's an equal number of male and female gynecologists out there.

I'm with you on that!

And regarding female OB-GYNs—actually, I was asking about the men.

Morgan Wilson7 said:or maybe it's just that gynecology is simply where the available spots are left🤷

I don't know. So, are you suggesting that every single gynecologist chose the field solely because it was the only opening left?
How does a man decide to become an OB-GYN? in Women's Health ·
The headline pretty much says it all.

It’s not that I’m shocked—I get that gynecology is just another medical specialty like any other—but I am genuinely curious about the motivation behind it. How does a man decide to specialize in OB-GYN? I realize that, just like any other med student, they probably just find the field interesting, but I've heard stories from plenty of seasoned professionals suggesting a different motive. Apparently, some men choose this path because they find the clinical side "exciting"—especially when a young, attractive woman walks into the exam room.

Then again, I’ve heard people claim that some men go into it because they possess a certain... let's call it "clinical detachment."
On the flip side, there’s the argument that they do it out of a genuine sense of empathy for women.

To be honest, I used to be a bit apprehensive about seeing male gynecologists. But after my first experience, I realized that many of them actually have a much gentler touch—whereas quite a few female doctors can be a bit "heavy-handed." Don't get me wrong, the women aren't bad at all; they're kind and professional, but their technique during exams can feel a bit rougher.

So, what's your take on this?

wiredharbor22 said:People are going to see right through you—it’s honestly pointless to even try. You might as well just clone yourself at this point. And even then? They’ll still catch on. You’re just too distinct for that. 🙂

I honestly don't think cloning is the way to go—mostly because once you get caught, you’re looking at an immediate ban. Plus, I haven't the slightest clue how one even goes about doing it in the first place. 🤷

Am I being "difficult"? Or maybe just... specific? Honestly, I can't tell anymore. It’s one of those things where people look at me like I’ve got two heads because I don't just go along with the crowd—I have standards. There’s a difference between being difficult and simply refusing to settle for mediocrity, though I suppose most people find it hard to distinguish the two. 🙂

feraltrucker5 said:Look, if someone tells you you aren't attractive... man, that isn't an insult. You have to be ready for that when you post a photo online. 🤷

Direct insults are against the rules—people have actually been banned for them. 🙂

If someone attacks you, just report the post. Don't start a fight. Most of the time, this whole circus starts because you decide to engage in the back-and-forth.

If someone tells me I'm not good-looking, I wouldn't even care—but if they tell me I'm trash or start sending provocative DMs, then we're talking about actual harassment—or that whole IQ thing. That’s why Lindy finally got banned. hm. Well, it was about time someone actually stood up for me when I'm being targeted.

Personally, I think telling someone they aren't attractive *is* an insult. You don't exactly say stuff like that to people you actually like—you save it for the people you don't.

You all don't need to lecture me; I think I know what constitutes an insult.

I've reported that post so many times, yet nobody ever does anything.

p.s.: Why did you delete that insult?

There have been much worse comments here that didn't result in a ban. And why is it that certain people—like that one die-hard fan who is constantly insulting everyone—never get banned? Are they your friend or something?

feraltrucker5 said:@ Donna Wood52: how many tissues (or whatever else) did you stuff in your bra? 🤦 😛

I'm the one starting the argument? I posted a picture and you immediately went there. Everyone on this forum already knows I'm no Pamela Anderson, yet you just had to jump in with an insult right away.

And can someone please explain the process for changing a username? Also, how do you become an admin? And who exactly is the admin?

Just wanted to get a few things off my chest, though I fully expect the moderator feraltrucker5 to scrub this post immediately.

Seriously, enough already—please stop the insults. You’ve all said your piece, and frankly, I think we’ve hit a breaking point. 🤷

It’s always "you’re like this" or "you’re like that"—as if any of you are actually perfect.

Anyway, there. I’ve said what I needed to say.

The last time, the time before that, even the very first time I dared to post a photo of myself, I was met with nothing but ridicule. Even when I go to see my therapist, a few of you somehow manage to find ways to belittle me again.

I mean it—enough is enough. You guys are acting like children.
Elizabeth Torres17 said:Still, I think it’s actually great if a woman finds a gynecologist she’s genuinely happy with and sticks with them regularly... You eventually build up this level of trust, which just makes everything else so much easier! 🙏

I'm with you on that! 👍

The real key is finding someone who has a gentle touch—someone polite, decent, and reliable. At the end of the day, picking the right doctor is what matters most.

Once you get older, you just get used to the routine—going in once or twice a year, no big deal. It's that very first visit that's always the hardest part.

Whenever it's my turn to deal with blood, I have to go digging down there myself. Ugh! Just thinking about it gives me the chills. 😕
Sarah Rodriguez68 said:It’s honestly not that big of a deal to me—I’ve always had men performing my exams, and I don't feel awkward about it at all. I mean, they see plenty of women's chests throughout their careers; one more or one less isn't going to make a difference.

Personally, I have a smaller chest, which makes things uncomfortable for me. When I finally go through with my plastic surgery, I’ll still need to get a mammogram—but I really want to avoid having a man do it. I just feel... inferior, I guess? Like if a man sees how small I am, I immediately feel unattractive.

Does anyone here actually know the protocol for mammograms when you're planning on getting breast augmentation?
