We’re veering pretty heavily into off-topic territory and getting a bit too philosophical here. If you really want to dive into those deep waters, there’s a dedicated philosophy PDF for that, so I’d ask that you take the discussion over there instead...
It’s entirely possible we’re looking at a case of switched lab samples. Either way, the level of negligence shown by the hospital is absolutely staggering.
False positives on HIV tests are always a statistical possibility, which is exactly why the protocol requires a follow-up screening.

A friend of mine set up a kids' forum and everything seems fine on her end, but when I went to register via email, I got the confirmation link, and when I clicked it, it told me nothing was found in the database. She registered and logged in without any issues. What's going on here? How do I fix this?

You probably should have opened this in a web browser, but whatever...

Have you tried just registering again?
You aren't going to hurt yourself. That tingling sensation happens because you're putting enough pressure on the nerves in your hand to temporarily cut off communication with your brain. You're also restricting blood flow, but given how brief these instances usually are, there won't be any lasting consequences...
Heart? Or something else? :S in Health ·
George Barnes69 said:Hey everyone! ...So, I have a question about something...
I'm 16. About two years ago during a routine physical, I was given a referral for an EKG because they supposedly found a heart murmur (if anyone can explain what a heart murmur actually is, please let me know). I didn't end up going to the EKG back then because there was such a massive backlog of referrals at the clinic and everyone was being told it wasn't a big deal anyway—plus, I wasn't having any actual heart issues, so I didn't see the point. However, I do remember feeling this sensation in my chest/lungs maybe four years ago (not exactly pain, just... something uncomfortable in the area between my chest and stomach). If I took a deep breath or pressed on the spot, the feeling would vanish within seconds. It wasn't a major concern since it didn't happen often, but maybe it's related to this topic 🤷 ...Anyway, over the last year, and especially in recent months, I've been feeling this frequent "pressure." Again, it isn't painful, per se, but it’s intrusive. At first, I assumed it was my heart, but now I'm not so sure.🤷 I mostly feel it near my left breast, though I can't be entirely certain of the exact location. Most of the time it's in the lower part, but sometimes it feels more central... though it might just be my imagination since pinpointing the exact source is hard. When it happens, I tend to press on the area and it goes away after a few seconds to a minute. I've noticed this sensation flares up when there are sudden temperature changes. For example, if it's cold outside and I go for a run and start sweating, it starts acting up. I've also noticed I get winded much faster while running than I used to, and it happens during periods of stress too... when I'm agitated or really worked up, the pressure starts.

I finally decided to go through with that EKG... I'm picking up the referral this Monday... but if anyone knows what this could possibly be, I would be incredibly grateful!

I hope you guys can answer me... and manage to make sense of what I'm saying... the post is a bit long-winded, but try to follow me.

Please reply, any input helps.... THANKS IN ADVANCE TO EVERYONE!

See a doctor and get the tests done. Any kind of chest pain or discomfort needs to be taken seriously, because various conditions—ranging from minor to severe—can present with similar symptoms.

A heart murmur usually implies some kind of structural anomaly in the heart, which can range from something negligible to something quite serious.

To me, this doesn't look like a classic manifestation of heart or lung disease. I'd lean toward it being gastrointestinal (you mentioned the area between your chest and stomach, which sounds like acid reflux) or neuromuscular (like intercostal muscle spasms or costochondritis).

Again, I'll repeat: nothing can be said for certain without a professional exam. See a doctor and get it sorted out.
Thomas Davis55 said:Why was my previous post nuked? I was just explaining how I cleared up my acne without using any topical products—just by managing my hormones through sexual abstinence and avoiding masturbation. I’m hoping this one doesn't get wiped too, because I actually want to start a real discussion here. Does anyone have actual insight into the link between hormones and breakouts? Maybe do a quick search on the connection between prolactin levels and acne, or just general hormonal imbalances and skin issues...

Your first thread got pulled because you were talking nonsense and used an inappropriate title. It looked like nothing more than blatant trolling and spamming.

This thread is headed for the exact same fate. If you really want to start a new one, I suggest you head over to Alternative. Staying here will just result in you getting a little bit of annual...
Living with one kidney in Health ·
Your other kidney is going to step up and handle everything the one you lost used to do, but you really can't afford to be reckless with it now. You have to protect it. That means avoiding physical trauma, staying on top of preventing kidney stones or infections, and keeping a very close eye on your blood sugar, urine levels, and blood pressure. As far as diet goes, there isn't some massive, complicated overhaul required. The main thing is watching your salt intake and steering clear of overly greasy or spicy foods. I'd also suggest cutting back on alcohol and caffeine. Beyond that, it’s wise to avoid overloading on protein.
Can I still grow taller? in Health ·
ruggedhawk11 said:I'm 16 years old and 5'10". I've only grown about an inch in the last two years... does that mean I'm done growing, or could there be something else going on??

P.S. Please, no jokes! 🙂)

Genetics plays the biggest role here. Ultimately, your odds depend on how tall your parents and other ancestors are.

gentleharbor86 said:Well, I ended up pregnant with my first one three years ago despite all the chaos—didn't abort, and I have zero regrets. How could I? I have a beautiful little girl who I love more than anything. Then, four months ago, I got pregnant again and now I'm waiting on a baby boy. We still travel, I'm studying business and passing all my exams on time, and my husband worked his way up to a manager position by age 25... Our kids are hands down the best thing that ever happened to us, and they've never "gotten in the way" of our plans or goals. Of course, we have the grandparents and daycare helping out too. bdw—we were exactly that age when we started.👍

Look, please don't go digging up ancient threads like that. Besides, this really falls under the category of women's health.

Lower back pain help? in Health ·
How long this is going to drag on? Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue. If you don't see some improvement within the next few days, you really ought to get yourself to a doctor. Here’s the cold, hard truth: you’re going to have to steer clear of heavy lifting, sitting with poor posture, and any sudden twisting motions for the rest of your life. Just because the pain subsides doesn't mean the underlying issue has vanished. One wrong move down the road could cost you dearly. You absolutely shouldn't be attempting any exercises on your own, but you can certainly look into physical therapy covered by Medicare. Get in touch with your primary care physician immediately!
Lower back pain help? in Health ·
No, absolutely not. Any kind of exercise is completely off the table right now. Don't go playing around with that idea; the number of people heading into surgery is already climbing too fast.
Stomach and gut issues - any advice? in Health ·
It could just be a mild stomach bug or maybe some food poisoning. If this keeps up for more than a few days or if you start feeling significantly worse, you should definitely check in with a doctor. It really shouldn't be a major issue.
Lower back pain help? in Health ·
Just stick to total rest for now—no squats, no bending over, and absolutely zero lifting anything heavy. Take some Advil if you need to. If things haven't improved within a week, you really need to go see a doctor. It sounds pretty obvious that you've done some damage to one of the discs in your lower lumbar region. You cannot be lifting heavy loads under any circumstances right now.
Hmm. There are several ways this could play out. You might be looking at something localized within the eye itself—think vascular spasms or maybe even uveitis—but it could just as easily be rooted in something neurological. Are you noticing any other symptoms alongside this? And is it a constant sensation, or does it seem to come and go in waves?
